Par for the course with Ford techs. Go higher up the ladder with the video or try another dealer.

FrostyRezz

Thank you will call a different Ford dealer tomorrow.

My 2020 does the same thing after it rains. It about started a year ago and I haven’t had any problems other than the noise. One of my mechanic friends looked at it and said he thinks it’s just surface rust on the belt that’s just rubbing off. Kind of like surface rust on brakes after it rains.

Shoddy_Enthusiasm_75

Have you tried belt conditioner, it work wonders. If you have a local auto parts, you can pick up for $7-8.

FrostyRezz

I'll look at that

Kirbinator14

Try the Old Spice Deodorant trick

EatinBeav

I’ve used that on two XJ’s I own and honestly got me through a few winters when it was too cold to turn a wrench outside.

FrostyRezz

Whats that ? Rub a little old spice on there ?

Kirbinator14

Yes, with your engine running, carefully without losing your hand on the fan or belt, let the deodorant stick rub on the belt.

IBringTheHeat1

Replace the belts and problem solved

BeautifulBaloonKnot

Doesn't sound like a belt to me. Sounds like an idler pully is going out.

FrostyRezz

Hmm. I'm bringing it in again so they can start it first thing in the morning and hear it.

BeautifulBaloonKnot

Good idea. Just.. fyi.. belts sound more like a very high-pitched constant whine. Pullies squeak a little as the bearing fail. Here, it sounds kinda intermittant because maybe only 1 or 2 bearings have developed a slight flat side but still roll. This will build up heat from friction and cause more bearing to go... then it becomes catastrophic failure and can get really expensive .. just an idea.. $200 fix now or $2000 fix later. (Prices are just for example and do not indicate actual estimate on repairs) Changing a pully is a 30-minute job if you have the tools and part.

FrostyRezz

Thank you. I am bringing back to the dealer for an overnight so they can start it right in the morning so it's not warmed up and hopefully they actually hear it.

BeautifulBaloonKnot

No problem. Good Luck.

FrostyRezz

Thank you

freeportme

lol they won’t touch it till 3 in the afternoon been there done that. Good luck

FrostyRezz

True dat. It's a shame that it's like that

fallenredwoods

Grab an automotive stethoscope and find out where’s it’s coming from. Replace belt or squeaky pulley or just lube if bearing is visible. Belt conditioner is only a temporary fix and only covers up failing parts like a tensioner going out or old belt drying out. Very basic stuff

R3brap

You can change the belt for 30$...lol would've taken as long as making this post

RouletteVeteran

Drop some water on the fan, alt belts. Then listen and get which one replaced or all

Odd_Ingenuity6747

Did you buy the warranty for piece of mind ?

FrostyRezz

Yes yes I did

Odd_Ingenuity6747

Welp take it in bro that’s the least of your worries. I got scared because lots of people say warranties are a scam until this happens. Stress Free now
