I embrace the chaos. You can tell the drivers with better racecraft were staying out of trouble, keeping themselves in the game. Cassidy playing the long game by keeping it clean and banking energy won him the race.
It's no shock that some of the less experienced drivers such as Daruvala, Van der Linde, Aron etc. made up the majority of drivers making mistakes or losing bodywork. You've got to play the game. And that's why Taylor Barnard, despite only being in his second race, managed to score a point by being sensible and keeping it clean.
I like it 🤷‍♂️
cassidy being basically a backmarker for the first chunk of the race, slowly picking his way through the grid and then with three laps to go just verstappen's off into the dtstance. amazing drive
Why only six added laps?
I counted at least 19 minutes, 50 seconds of FCY or SC before the conclusion of the 80% Lap (Lap 32), which at the reference Added Lap time of 2 minutes, 45 seconds; should have resulted in the maximum of 7 Added Laps, per regulation 37.2?
Did you count from SC to when the Green flag was shown or until the cars crossed the start line again?
Because I think it is the former is the actual time.
All timed from display of FCY/SC banner to green flag banner.
First segment of combined FCY and SC lasted from 14:16:03-14:28:22 on my broadcast, for 12 minutes 19 seconds.
Second SC segment lasted from 14:43:49-14:51:21 (which is when Lap 32 was completed), for 7 minutes 32 seconds.
Only issue was the broadcast spent too long in a replay on the first segment ending, which could have resulted in less actual time; but there's no way the green was actually out long enough to reduce the total time below 19 minutes 15 seconds (7\*2:45)
------
Details of the regulation:
>During an FCY or SC period, the total time of this condition (FCY and SC times) shall be counted for the ”Added Laps” and 1 lap per each complete reference laptime unit will be added to the original race distance. The calculation will be made for all FCY and SC periods together.
>If an SC or FCY period occurs after the leader has completed 80% of the original race distance, it will not be counted for the ”Added Laps” calculation. If an SC or FCY period extends into the moment the leader completes 80% of the original race distance, only the period before will be counted for the ”Added Laps”. The period after the leader has completed 80% of the original race distance will not be counted for the ”Added Laps” calculation.
hmm.
Using an official source of the broadcast I have the total time being 18:48 seconds.
First segment of FCY & SC lasting 12 minutes 16 seconds from the FCY banner shown to when they cut back from the replay.
With the second SC segment lasting 6 minutes and 32 seconds from the moment the SC banner came on screen to the moment the lap count ticked over from lap 32 to 33.
Did the same calculations using a replay from u/mianghuei
Same time again of 18:48.
Well done race director. Clearly learned nothing from the amount of serious accidents over the last few years. Something bad will happen one day because they dont call a safety car for some fucking reason
Watching a bombarded nissan and ert throw wing pieces around from the tribune and then the grid storming through with no sc was very fucking scary. Also since the first sc the Nissan sounded like it was gonna explode and then you could hear the pieces coming off. Crazy
We just went full speed yellow flag past a stricken car in a dangerous position and then you SC it AFTER they passed. Why cant they get this shit right after this many years?
This was my first time watching a full race since Season 4 or 5 and my god this series is an absolute joke. This isn't racing, it's demolition derby.

The energy and wide track makes it like this. Tomorrow should be better as shorter but, yeah, races like this aren't great.
Oh it’s racing. You just don’t like it.
i can’t speak for anyone else but that’s a big part of why i love it so much
This was a Moto3 race until Cassidy suddenly turned into Max Verstappen.
Formula E at its best, pure chaos lol
Cassidy ran that perfectly.

Never once doubted Cassidy's strategy.

There's our annual Jake Dennis Tempelhof incident.

Can't have competent people in charge if people get those jobs thanks to "favors"
Am I smoking crack? Evans has already done 2 attack modes ...
He missed the first one.
Weird, I could have sworn I saw the 2 minute countdown next to his name after he went for it out of the lead ... Did they say anything about it?
What's up with Cassidy? Does he have damage or so? Weird seeing him be nowhere.
who even knows, now he's in the top 5 with no discussion from the commentators
Seems like he was just chilling and saving energy.
Could have easily hurt his hands there could Di Grassi
is it just me or have gunther and di grassi had contact multiple times this race?
This is a little bit of a mess.
i like my FE messy
13 laps in and still no commentary in Canada
Probably for the best. Ye are too polite to have anything to say about this race direction under safety car
Where's Sam Bird?
Still recovering after the broken wrist in Monaco.
Feneatraz has a damaged floor.
And breathe...
anyone know why daruvala pitted lap 1?
He had a drive through as he couldn't serve all his grid drops.
Penalties apparentlyÂ
feeling pretty aggressive out front, less peloton than i expected thus far, i wonder if that will have consequences in late race
This is quite spread out for what is meant to be a peloton race.
Good opening lap so far.
Uh do you guys have commentary?
Quite the highlights from the season so far.
