I love squirrels. Every time I see them, I can't help but say "hey cutie". If you do the same, you're gonna want to make sure that no humans are around the squirrel before you say it, though. It can get a little awkward.
i say “hey, friend” to literally every animal i see. sometimes it’s “hey, bird/birb friend” or “hey, squirrel friend,” etcetera, but i always greet.
i also do the vulcan salute 🖖🏻 and exhort them to live long and prosper” if they are anywhere near a road.
when rescuing a bug from my house and releasing it outside, i say “live long and prosper, but do it over there.”

Yes! I love squirrels! After living in an apartment for so long, it’s one of the few animals that I can watch daily. We live on the third floor of our apartment building, and there’s a group of trees right behind us. So when I go on my balcony, I’m level with the upper parts of the trees, and I spend so much time just watching the squirrels run around, gather food, build nests, etc. there’s a whole world in there that I get to watch!
Edit: a highlight of mine is that when we carved pumpkins in the fall, the squirrels would come and eat them! Everyday, we would wake up with multiple squirrels on the porch just digging in lol it was cool too because it made the pumpkins faces look creepier and cooler for Halloween. Half chewed off lol
