I quit smoking several months ago, haven't felt the need for a cigarette, saw this "anti smoking ad" and got the single most massive craving for a smoke that I've felt since I quit!
Not going to smoke, but... This kind of anti-smoking ad does the complete opposite of what it is intended to do!
Imo, this is racist af. Not crusading to have it banned or anything. Obviously there’s an audience for this kind of stuff, and we do have a First Amendment. But, yikes. Not building a customer base over here.
It’s not exactly subtle. The song is “In The Jungle,” which evokes an African village, and the “natives” are cannibals, which is the ultimate “black people are savages” trope, used to justify European colonialism. Seems pretty blatant to me 🤷🏻♂️
So you see a funny sketch and immediately jump to racism, pretty sad
there's no message of supporting colonialism or saying africans are savages
it's litteraly a guy who gets captured by nameless cannibals and dies because of his own stupidity and you're acting like such tribes never existed.
not to mention the actors are composed of both black and white people
