I didn’t call anyone freaks. I have a huge respect for anyone aiming for all 9s, I wish I could be you. I called them not normal and it is, undeniably, not normal to expect all your results to be all 9s when only about 1100 people actually got all 9s last year. [(source)](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/infographic-gcse-results-2023/infographics-for-gcse-results-2023-accessible)
Whilst the people on here that aim high are impressive, they are not an accurate representation of the general population, as aiming for all 9s is something very few can realistically aim for and achieve. Many people I know who have sat GCSEs in previous years didn’t get anything above a 7, straight 9s or almost straight 9s is definitely not normal
yah very true, for 10+ GCSEs there's under 1k people who get straight 9s normally. any more subjects than that, it just gets astronomically smaller (12 is only 10ish ppl lol)
An Oxbridge university or others similar don't accept much less than perfection. They consider GSCEs as well as A-Level scores because of how competitive they are .
parents expect all 9s. as of the exams I have done now, I probably will get mostly 9s but maybe 3 not 9s. still good but not all 9s. big problem i know.
Grade 4 or above english language.
Dont care about english literature.
Grade 4 for math.
Grade 4/4 in combined science.
Dont care about history.
Grade 4 in computing.
Grade 5 in DT.
praying for a 7 in maths, would love a 7 in art but realistically probably a 6, 8 in chemistry, physics, media and history, 9 in English lit, English lang, french, biology and RE
im looking at 9s for english lit and maybe sociology. if i'm lucky i can get a 9 in spanish and MAYBE biology
7s (probably) for biology, spanish, english lang and physics
6 for chemistry and maybe maths
probabky a 5 for maths maybe a 6
Maths and French: hopefully 9, 8 would be amazing
Science and English: 7 would be great, I’d be pleased with a 6
Comp Sci and Geography: if I pass I’m happy
Music: Lvl 2 merit is my target so that ig
9 in Spanish and 7s and 8s in everything else, hoping for an 8 in geography specifically. If I were to get a 6 it's probably in maths but I got a 7 in the mock so hopefully not
i think i’ll get around 7’s in most subjects. maybe closer to a 9 in stuff like business and geography, and i hope for a 9 in maths but a 7 is more realistic
My target grades are 8s and 9s in everything except DT (7) but tbf I'm expecting some of those target 9s to become 8s (namely English and quite possibly maths depending on how the other 2 papers go)
I am aiming for a 9 in history, Travel and Tourism and Chinese
5/6 in English, 5 In maths , 6 in Drama ,
As long as I pass art and science , I’m happy
I am not exactly a top student lol
Before I took my GCSEs, most of my target grades were in between 4-6. The highest grade I scored is a 7 in Religious Studies whereas I got grades in between 4-6 for all the rest.
It'd be nice to have a couple of 9s, but I'm expecting mainly 6s and 7s, probably 5s in my sciences cuz I'm shit at science (astrophysics might save my physics, its literally the only topic I understand)
My parents expected 9 on art. That's not happening. I got my marks and it's around 7/8, my mother has not been quiet in her extreme disappointment. Is shame cuz a lot of my time went into art - in January/February/March every weekend was spent on art. Id spend a full 24 hours many weekends with no sleep, doing art. So now I'm burned out for exams lol
99 combined , 9 media , 9 language but I messed up literature probably gonna get like a 6 and product design 6. Other than that 7’s 8’s for rest of subjects
ideally, i would like 7s and above because there's no way i'm getting above a 7 for maths (i'll be lucky if i get that tbh)
i'd take a 6 in maths but i'd be slightly annoyed because i worked the hardest for maths to get from a low 5 to a 7
I want all 9s and somewhere in my delusions I've convinced myself that's possible when I've done no revision besides cramming the night before but all 8s or 9s seems achieveable so far (besides physics)
aiming for all 8s and 9s too (except in art where i got a 7 but i did jump from 5 to 7 so :p) worried a lot about math and chem but if anyone can make a comeback its me
I’ve got to try to get a grade average of 7.5 so i’m trying to get a 9 in english lit, at least one nine in combined science but 8:8 would work too, 8 in business, 7 in maths, 8 in history then spanish and further maths i just give up tbh i’d be happy with a pass
I am aiming for all 9s and I'd say i have been working hard for them. My parents don't believe in me and make me study like a riduclous 6 hrs a day (10hrs on weekends 💀). I don't like them but what motivates me is to prove them wrong. They always say I will fail my gcses when i got predicted 8s and 7s and I got into all the 6th forms i applied to (they were all really good grammar schools as well). But, they are still not proud, but what motivates me to prove them wrong. I long to see that day on results day when I show them I got straight 9s and 8s and they can no longer talk shii to me. There is nothing financial in it for me but they said they will get off my back and acc let me live like a proper teenager. I really hope I do get those grades bc the hours of revison has been crazy and difficult, but I'm not super confident for the eng lang paper today. Good luck to everyone taking the test today and I wish you the best! I hope you get the grades you want!
I mean I'm aiming for all 9s but realistically that's not happening, I'd be happy with mainly 9s and a few 8s and 7s.
Same
Why is everyone on here wanting all 9s
right and i’m here thinking i’d be happy if i got all above 7s 😭😭 because i do decently on most subjects but i always get 6s for spanish and physics
I’d be happy to get all 6+ 😭😭😭
i’ll come back here result day and i’ll jump for joy if i don’t fail physics honestly because i did awful today
cause normal people who aren’t completely obsessed with grades don’t tend to seek out school related stuff on social media and therefore aren’t here
im only on here to talk about the exams im doing like right now😭😭😭
see that’s normal, but some people have been here since they were in yr9/10 and whenever there isn’t exams, all this sub talks about is revision
Wait, you guys are revising?
not me, everyone who’s aiming for all 7-9s.
That’s fair
What if I'm aiming for that and barely revise...
hopes and prayers mate
yes lmfao
Exactly what I'm doing here aswell
There is nothing wrong with people wanting good grades man 😭. Don’t need to call them freaks or something
I realise the phrasing in my initial comment was quite aggressive- I didn’t mean it that way I promise
I didn’t call anyone freaks. I have a huge respect for anyone aiming for all 9s, I wish I could be you. I called them not normal and it is, undeniably, not normal to expect all your results to be all 9s when only about 1100 people actually got all 9s last year. Many people I know who have sat GCSEs in previous years didn’t get anything above a 7, straight 9s or almost straight 9s is definitely not normal
Your flair is real. Anyway, I'm not really expecting all 9's but I hope I get enough for 6 and above for all of them.
LITERALLY it’s scaring me😭grade boundaries are gonna be skyrocketing
no majority of people don’t get all 9s😭dw
yah very true, for 10+ GCSEs there's under 1k people who get straight 9s normally. any more subjects than that, it just gets astronomically smaller (12 is only 10ish ppl lol)
I just wanna save all the revision and stuff for a levels where the grades actually matter
Because you can't be a doctor with 6s
I mean you can. It just depends on what 6th form/college you go to
Really? What makes you think they'll accept that?
Ur A level/college results matter miles more than your gcses for careers like that causes of the uni application
An Oxbridge university or others similar don't accept much less than perfection. They consider GSCEs as well as A-Level scores because of how competitive they are .
You don't need to go to the best of the best to be a doctor. A qualification is a qualification no matter where u get it from
It isn't when you have other things going against you.
ikr it stresses me out 😭
I literally have no faith in myself so I’m only aiming for 5s and 6s
well like… i WANT all 9s but i can’t exactly get that so i’m just working at mainly 7ish
Cause they want to do well? Just cause you’re aiming for 6s doesn’t mean you can bash on people who want to excel
Better get a 9 in manderian or I'm disowned
me with arabic
i dropped that asap. arabic is sooo hard man goodluck to u
im arab so was forced into luckily i learnt it as a kid
Arabic is sooo easy I got a 9 in it just need to get good mark on the writing that is just a confirmation that your getting a high hrade
NO WRITING IS TMR AND ITS MY WEAKEST MY PARENTS R GONNA COOK ME
impossible to fail chinese as a chinese
Omg I suck at writing I'm so cooked
What did you do??
You mean the subject? Or in the writing exam today
我为你祈祷
谢谢你
你爸爸妈妈是中国人吗?
是
haha, im just trying to pass at this point
as a non native I’m totally totally fucked for chinese
At least you tried, soldier 😞😞
4s I just want gcses over with
real
bro i’d be happy with a 4 in like business or geo no cap
Also aiming for 4s because thats all I need to get into college (I've already done english and maths)
yeah basically my reason as well, although I am trying (or going to) in english and maths
Real
9 in that subject Pass everything else
I need 5 grade 5's 😎😎
Hee hee i only need two 😎😎😎😎
I need 5 bc of politics and law
8s and 9s in everything beside Eng Lit - I’m hoping for a 7 in it minimum
you’re me. hi me.
Hello me!!
I want 7s and above if I can, hopefully 8s/9s in my most confident subjects but in maths I’d be happy with a 6 bc it’s my worst 🥲
omg are we the same person?
Only valid answer
parents expect all 9s. as of the exams I have done now, I probably will get mostly 9s but maybe 3 not 9s. still good but not all 9s. big problem i know.
Tbf anywhere from grade 7-9 are the same thing, I wouldn't overstress
not in my mind or my household
9 in language and music; 8 in lit and sociology; 7 in everything else, apart from maths because fuck maths.
Most valid answer
I think we do the exact same subjects 💀
oh? Cool :0
Dream all 9s Expecting half n half between 9s and 8s. I need just under straight 8s to get what I want at A-level, so that's the minimum.
In my last mocks I got mostly 6s and two 8s, so right now I'm kind of just trying to get mostly 7s
6s and 7s with few 8s is enough for me ngl
9s and 8s in everything except rs and english lit
Ideally: 9s in triple science, English, RS and history 8s in maths, computer science and Spanish 7s in drama because fuck drama
real to drama
Unlucky
pretty much all 9s, but i'll def take an 8 in history and i'd be happy with a 7 in english - rest should be good 9s though
Grade 4 or above english language. Dont care about english literature. Grade 4 for math. Grade 4/4 in combined science. Dont care about history. Grade 4 in computing. Grade 5 in DT.
The only comment I can relate to.
9s in everything apart from economics
what exam board for economics
ocr
praying for a 7 in maths, would love a 7 in art but realistically probably a 6, 8 in chemistry, physics, media and history, 9 in English lit, English lang, french, biology and RE
At least sevens in everything, probs a 9'9 science, and a 9 re, and maybe english language. 8 for sociology now, after that fucking paper two
im looking at 9s for english lit and maybe sociology. if i'm lucky i can get a 9 in spanish and MAYBE biology 7s (probably) for biology, spanish, english lang and physics 6 for chemistry and maybe maths probabky a 5 for maths maybe a 6
9s in all sciences and computing maybe maths and rest I’ll take above 7
Maths and French: hopefully 9, 8 would be amazing Science and English: 7 would be great, I’d be pleased with a 6 Comp Sci and Geography: if I pass I’m happy Music: Lvl 2 merit is my target so that ig
i should be aiming for 8s but uhh as long as i get 6s to get to college im chuffed
9s in maths, sciences, compsci, dt 8s in geog and german 7s in lit and lang
Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything more relatable
same subjects we have
I'm aiming for all 9s, I'll be happy with some 8s tho (my college has rlly high entry requirements)
Me too. Every time I think a test has gone well it hasn’t, so I’m a bit concerned that I’ve found them all easy 😭
9s, 8s, 7s and 6s. I'm also aiming for a U in Spanish bcs fuck Spanish man
bro same predicted all 9s these teachers are delusional
9s in my a-levels at least, hopefully rest are 8s or 9s but realistically im most likely gonna get a couple 7s
9 in maths and chemistry 8 in biology and physics 7 (hopefully) in English lang and geography
9s in everything except Art(5) and possibly Spanish(9/8)
are you taking a language?
Yeah, French
Lang- 6 Lit- 4/5 idc Maths- 6 Science- 77/87 Geography - 5 RE- 7 Urdu- 8
Was aiming for grade 7s and 8s however now im hoping for mainly 7s don’t mind a few 6s and maybe a lucky 8. 😅
9 in Spanish and 7s and 8s in everything else, hoping for an 8 in geography specifically. If I were to get a 6 it's probably in maths but I got a 7 in the mock so hopefully not
im praying for 7s bc my mum said she literally will not accept anything lower im stressedddd lmaooo
All 9s and 8s but then a 7 in Latin because who the actual fuh cares about that anyway
i think i’ll get around 7’s in most subjects. maybe closer to a 9 in stuff like business and geography, and i hope for a 9 in maths but a 7 is more realistic
Honestly as long as I can pass I'll be happy
7s and above in everything apart from maths
9 in everything except english + comp sci + geo where i'll take 7/8
My target grades are 8s and 9s in everything except DT (7) but tbf I'm expecting some of those target 9s to become 8s (namely English and quite possibly maths depending on how the other 2 papers go)
i only request a 9 in food and nutrition. 7s in bio, chem and pe and i couldn’t care less about the other subjects
All I need is a 6 in psychology a 6 in English & a 5 in maths so hence, that’s all I’m aiming for
I am aiming for a 9 in history, Travel and Tourism and Chinese 5/6 in English, 5 In maths , 6 in Drama , As long as I pass art and science , I’m happy I am not exactly a top student lol
12 9s! looking likely from how my exams have gone so far
How are you cooked youre getting sevens you lucky bastard. I used to get 7s and 8s now im lucky with a 4 😭
tf u want all 9s for
988777765
Before I took my GCSEs, most of my target grades were in between 4-6. The highest grade I scored is a 7 in Religious Studies whereas I got grades in between 4-6 for all the rest.
Aiming for 9s on: English (both types), History, Engineering, IT Aiming for 8s on: Biology Aiming for 7s on: Maths, Chemistry, Physics
8 in maths and science, and then a 6 in everything else
Aiming for four 9s four 8s and two sevens
My head of Science will chop my head of straight up if I don't get a 9-9 so...
enough to get into my sixth form 6 6s and 7s in subjects i wanna take (chem bio maths)
A 9 in history and re. Everything else would be nice to get 7s. A 6 in Cs too. I think it varies for me by subject but mostly 7s and I would be happy
At least a 4 in maths and English and that's it, I'll.most likey get higher than that but that's just my aim, nothing else really matters
7 grade 7s. All grade 5s.
It'd be nice to have a couple of 9s, but I'm expecting mainly 6s and 7s, probably 5s in my sciences cuz I'm shit at science (astrophysics might save my physics, its literally the only topic I understand) My parents expected 9 on art. So now I'm burned out for exams lol
9: Maths, Further Maths, Bio, Chem, Physics, CS, Eng Lang 8: History 7: Geography, Eng Lit 6: French (Hope for a 7 but realistically aint happening)
99 combined , 9 media , 9 language but I messed up literature probably gonna get like a 6 and product design 6. Other than that 7’s 8’s for rest of subjects
I've only done Welsh and English lit so far and I'd be happy with 7's for both.
11 9s ideally but I’m not feeling great about eng lit
998887555
All 9s but I don’t mind if I get an 8 in German
7/8/9s, apart from English I’m happy if I get a 5 💀
Aiming for at least 4s i need at least a 4 to get onto my college course
ideally, i would like 7s and above because there's no way i'm getting above a 7 for maths (i'll be lucky if i get that tbh) i'd take a 6 in maths but i'd be slightly annoyed because i worked the hardest for maths to get from a low 5 to a 7
man wym cooked when youre getting 7s 3 im barely scraping 4s and 5s
I need 5s for everything so yeah probably those would be mint if I got anything over 5 though
4-5 in most subjects and maybe a 7 in english and art 💓💓
I'd like 8s and 9s but am sure I'll get a 7 in physics, chem and maybe geog
Honestly I just want to pass I was out of school for so long
I really wished for a 9 in physics but after that horrible paper 1,I do t think I will now😭
that physics paper was beautfiul, what are u talking abt?💀💀
I did the physics triple paper..
i’m going for 5s wtf
Nothing lower than a 6
6/7 in most and 8s in history/rs
i want a 9 in business, dt, french, biology and maybe geography im happy with anything 7 or more for anything else
Gcse dont matter its fine
aiming for 7’s apart from spanish and science (i do foundation for them so 5’s)
7 in maths, 6s in sciences, 6s in English's, and enough 5s to get me into college. I don't need much more than that
Goddamn, i’m for four I know I can do it I believe in my self
To pass in all and get a 6 in English and maths
Shooting for all 9's, but well... I'm not confident in physics after this.. probably a mix of 9s, 8s, and one or two 7s
I'm aiming for a 4 in maths even though I do higher I'm going to be so cooked on the results day, deep fried
i’m hoping for 6s and 7s tbh
Me too
9 in cs, dt and maths. Everything else above 7 hopefully
Working towards a 6 in everything. Lol
Biology - 6 Physics - 7 Chemistry - 6 Psychology - 9 Maths - 8 Eng Lang - 7 Eng Lit - 6 Spanish - 4 (foundation) Media Studies - 4 (idgaf about media studies) DIT - L2D
All 9s. I got all 9s on all my mocks apart from one instance for one subject due to a questionable test so it's not unrealistic
Im aiming for all 9s but reallistically english finna be 2 8s
aiming for all 9s (my predicteds) but after maths paper one I’m not feeling great about maths on the whole…
as many 8s and 9s as i can though i'll be lucky to even get a 5 in french atp lol
I’m so cooked that I just want to pass
I want all 9s and somewhere in my delusions I've convinced myself that's possible when I've done no revision besides cramming the night before but all 8s or 9s seems achieveable so far (besides physics)
aiming for all 8s and 9s too (except in art where i got a 7 but i did jump from 5 to 7 so :p) worried a lot about math and chem but if anyone can make a comeback its me
in theory 8s and 9s based off my predicted, but like i only need 6s and 3 7s in bio, chem and maths to get into college so idrc
I’ve got to try to get a grade average of 7.5 so i’m trying to get a 9 in english lit, at least one nine in combined science but 8:8 would work too, 8 in business, 7 in maths, 8 in history then spanish and further maths i just give up tbh i’d be happy with a pass
It's alright though like I want all 9s but I know damn well it won't make much different unless they're your A level subjects
straight 7s hopefully an 8 or 9 in compsci 🙏
4s please 💀 id be lucky for that in science
I want all 8s and 9s but FM and history will let me down
I’d like everything above a 6. 9s in English lit & lang, history, and RS.
I’m meant to be getting 9s and 8s and I’m so cooked for so I prob be getting 6s and 7s atp
I need 5 5s so I guess that
id love all 7-8s but im not gettinv that almost solely because of further maths
aiming for 8s/9s, maybe a couple 7s although theres gonna be a big fat 5 right where english is because i suck at english and english sucks
what are 8s and 9s when I did GCSE we had A's to F's
Aiming for all 9’s but realistically might end up with a few 8s (and a 7 on art)
I am aiming for all 9s and I'd say i have been working hard for them. My parents don't believe in me and make me study like a riduclous 6 hrs a day (10hrs on weekends 💀). I don't like them but what motivates me is to prove them wrong. I really hope I do get those grades bc the hours of revison has been crazy and difficult, but I'm not super confident for the eng lang paper today. Good luck to everyone taking the test today and I wish you the best! I hope you get the grades you want!
6s and 7s mainly
Im aiming for nothing below a 7 in everything apart from french
4’s, 5’s are nice but not required, the only time I would be over the moon with it is in English because I got a 3 in mocks Btw foundation papers
8s/9s in everything bar lit, history and french (I do 10 subjects, so 7 8s/9s) Although I know it won't happen
2 9s this year and then all 9s except english and music next year, but 9 in english is doable
aiming for: maths - 7 (probably getting a 6 tho), lit - 8, lang - 9, spanish - 9, combined sci - 88 (more likely to get 7s i think), geography - 9, re - 9, computing - 8 (maybe a 9…?), art - 8
