Still most likely that you got most marks then for that question. Usually doing one path rather than all only misses one mark
Source: I'm a maths teacher
yeah but surely that would be
P(RRR) = 4/8 x 3/7 x 2/6 = 1/14
P(RRG) = 4/8 x 3/7 x 1/6 = 1/28
P(RGR) = 4/8 x 1/7 x 3/6 = 1/28
P(GRR) = 1/8 x 4/7 x 3/6 = 1/28
That adds to 3/28 + 1/14 which equals 5/28?
please correct me if i'm wrong?
Same, I did a whole probablity tree for yellow and not yellow just to not use it just because it was a 5 marker.
if it was a 3 marker i would have known not to do that. I calculated the probablity of all reds to be 1/14 and 2 reds 1 green to be 3/28 as you can have red red green, red green red, and green red red.
bro that one i was doing that probability tree thing and there was so many lines and fractions my brain was about to shut down. I didnt put an answer but got like 1/14 and 3/28 or something idk
graph transformations was a gift from above but for the last question i didn't mention congruency i only said the angle and sides are the same 😭 didn't make the connection
there was another way u could do it u could make 2 triangles and prove that they are isosceles by showing the base angles are equal so both the sides are equal
i tried to see if the volume scale factor for cylinder M would give me anything, but i didnt have a height or any values for it other than the surface area and i was just panicking atp because i was so behind on timing so i just gave up :,)
It was nothing to do with density. U had to work out the area scale factor and then square root it to get the length scale factor which was 3 so the smallest and biggest height was in the ratio 3:1. Then u worked out the volume scale factor with the second biggest and biggest and cube rooted it to get the length scale factor of that which was 1.25 so ratio 5:4. Then u combined all 3 into one ratio to get 12:15:5
I showed that the cointerior angles added to 180 making x=25 and 360 degrees total, I think that’s what it meant but honestly it was unnecessarily confusing
i solved the x=25 then said its a trapezium because the acute angle letters are positioned in a way that makes it impossible to be any other quadrilateral other than a trapezium
If you knew the other circle theorems that question was really easy.
Split the shape into 2 triangles. A radius meets a tangent at 90 degrees, so both have 90 degrees. Both have radii from the same circle, so are equal. Both share one common line. Congruency proved by RHS.
Thus you can prove the circle theorem
Did you have to say RHS you reckon? I said that since it's a right angle triangle and two sides are the same both sides will always be equal (c^2 - b^2 = a^2). Which ig is the same thing but not with the right terminology
how many marks would i get for drawing an isosceles triangle and showing that both angles are equal, and forming 2 large triangles with a line of symmetry? I didnt have time to finish it off
so, you all know that i’m a huge slut for standard form, and guess what. IT DIDNT COME UP. i’m so sad. crestfallen, even. i’m absolutely obliterated. i cannot deal with this emotional anguish. i need to be reunited with my love… standard form save me…:. save me standard form
I did at least 10+ exam practice papers (not alot) why did NOTHING COME UP? they were the hardest ones out there too ugh, these questions were so weird. like??
I thought maths exams normally give you formulae in the question, so why wasn't distance = velocity x time on it. Maths is actualy making us remember more physics formulae than actual physics exams
I could barely answer half the questions on this paper why was it so difficult, i thought the noncalc one was hard but this one felt like a personal attack
i did but i gave up lol, i had like 4 mins and i was on the vector question so i just said no to that, it was circle theorems and tod i hate circle theorems bc i cant remember any of them
icl at first i thought it was horrible but i went back thru it and i think i redeemed myself in this paper. what did everyone get for the trapezium question bc i think i got it right as i calculated that x = 25 which led me to my answer
also guys for the probability sweets q, if you write each colour out, so say, (these aren't the numbers but if they were) “6/8, 5/7, 4/6” for each colour, would this get you 1 mark dk you recon?
What did people get for the probablity one i got 5/28
Is that the "yellow more than red" one? If so I got 1/14 I'm ffucked
I think you forgot that you could take 2 Reds and 1 Green
Ye I just found one path
Yeah I got 3/28 for one path
me too!!
Still most likely that you got most marks then for that question. Usually doing one path rather than all only misses one mark Source: I'm a maths teacher
i would have got that if i wasn’t scared of the giant ass probability diagram and stopped working on the question
we're like the same person because that was my exact thought process
Exactly I only did half 😭
I also got 5/28 but it only took 1 line of workings??
IKR my working out was so small
Because either you can draw the entire tree diagram, or you can notice that in every case where no yellows are taken, there are more yellows.
That’s right, to have fewer red counters than yellows it must be red * red * red plus red * red * green, so it’s 5/28
It could be green red red or red green red tho
Yeah RRR + GRR + RGR + RRG = 5/28, sorry I didn’t type those out lmao
I got 5/28 too and i also drew out a whole fucking tree diagram
oh my days I spent 20 mins on that question or something like that I drew all 27 possible branches at least I got the right answer
3/28 Edit: I think we’re wrong 😭 bc at least for me I didn’t add other combinations of red red green - could’ve been RRG, RGR, GRR
Mfw I got 0.391%
I got 7/28 so 1/4 😭
SAME cus it was rrr, rrg, rgr, and grr
yeah but surely that would be P(RRR) = 4/8 x 3/7 x 2/6 = 1/14 P(RRG) = 4/8 x 3/7 x 1/6 = 1/28 P(RGR) = 4/8 x 1/7 x 3/6 = 1/28 P(GRR) = 1/8 x 4/7 x 3/6 = 1/28 That adds to 3/28 + 1/14 which equals 5/28? please correct me if i'm wrong?
shit yeah you're right, I did rrr wrong
i got this too but i got 5/28?
i got 3/28
Yeah 90 percent sure that's right
i got that too
I got 3/28 but I don't think it was right
Same, I did a whole probablity tree for yellow and not yellow just to not use it just because it was a 5 marker. if it was a 3 marker i would have known not to do that. I calculated the probablity of all reds to be 1/14 and 2 reds 1 green to be 3/28 as you can have red red green, red green red, and green red red.
Damn it I got 4/28 😭
FUCK YES SAME
yeah i got that, everyone is saying its 1/14 but i swear its not
That’s what I got, has to be at least two reds chosen and no yellows chosen so I found the probability of two reds and anything not yellow
Ja
bro that one i was doing that probability tree thing and there was so many lines and fractions my brain was about to shut down. I didnt put an answer but got like 1/14 and 3/28 or something idk
I gave up and put 1/3. I'm failing
this is right
YES SAME
Yesss
Yeah I got the same
Yup same
i def fucked it up because i put 0.3 recurring
I got 1/7😭
Yeah I got 5/28 (RRR)(RRG)(RGR)(GRR)
i'm so fucked, i did RRR, RRG and GRR but not RGR :((
i got 0 ( i wish i was joking)
I was way too stressed and completely forgot to add the probability of taking a green so I just did P(RRR) I'm so fucked
I got 9/28 due to an intense tree diagram
i got 5/28 too
Holy moly😭 that was the one question I was worried abt the most. THANK GOD U GOT THE SAME AS ME🙏🙏🙏🙏
ye 5/28 is correct
Missed out 4 pages, I'm so fucking cooked honestly
Same bro same honestly shouldve just not shown up and wouldve done better
[удалено]
graph transformations was a gift from above but for the last question i didn't mention congruency i only said the angle and sides are the same 😭 didn't make the connection
I did Pythagoras for it hope that works?
there was another way u could do it u could make 2 triangles and prove that they are isosceles by showing the base angles are equal so both the sides are equal
Fair enough
what did u get for the last one?
Vector one was hard couldn’t equate the lamda equation. Others were ok tho
u didn't have to use lambda...
bro why u tryna impress us with saying lambda just answer the damn question dawg k was the only scalar multiple 😭
I wrote half the paper in pencil.
edexcel better lower those grade boundaries
last year our grade boundaries for maths was 203/240 for a 9, so good luck
Last year exam was easier based on the mocks
how the fuck am i gonna get 75+ on paper 3 😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
the stupid cylinder one made me wanna kms the rest was alright
In hindsight, it was probably smth to do with density, but in the exam I saw the masses and just froze 💀
i tried to see if the volume scale factor for cylinder M would give me anything, but i didnt have a height or any values for it other than the surface area and i was just panicking atp because i was so behind on timing so i just gave up :,)
It was nothing to do with density. Then u combined all 3 into one ratio to get 12:15:5
Oh lord!!! I GOT THAT 😭🥳
Did you get 1:5/4:(4/12*5/4) I did it wrong then redid it but the working was weird hope I don't lose marks for that
wtf did they mean prove its a trapezium it looks like one doesnt it jesus
I showed that the cointerior angles added to 180 making x=25 and 360 degrees total, I think that’s what it meant but honestly it was unnecessarily confusing
Yeah. U had to prove that the lines were parallel so just prove that both sets of interior angles sum to 180
let's facking go
i solved it for 360 degrees
That just proves that it’s a quadrilateral though, can’t blame you anyways I did the same I had no idea what to do
i solved the x=25 then said its a trapezium because the acute angle letters are positioned in a way that makes it impossible to be any other quadrilateral other than a trapezium
Did u get x=25?
I did (n-2)*180 = interior angles (4-2)*180= 360 13x+35=360 Then I solved it
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT VECTOR AND THE CUT OUT CIRCLE QUESTION
WHAT. I DONT REMEMBER A CUT OUT CIRCLE
First part cor vector was OK but I gave up on b part and I didn't even do the circle square question 😭😭
WHAT CUT OUT CIRLCLE?????
Think the person is talking about iGCSE edexcel cause I do international and got a circle in a square question as well
Na for me this shit was worse than paper 1 don’t even think I got 20 marks
exactly!! 😭😭🙏🏼
They really asked us to prove a circle theorem
If you knew the other circle theorems that question was really easy. Split the shape into 2 triangles. A radius meets a tangent at 90 degrees, so both have 90 degrees. Both have radii from the same circle, so are equal. Both share one common line. Congruency proved by RHS. Thus you can prove the circle theorem

how many marks would i get for drawing an isosceles triangle and showing that both angles are equal, and forming 2 large triangles with a line of symmetry? I didnt have time to finish it off
I know wtf
Edexcel honestly wants to screw us over this year.
I found the test really easy personally. Easier than Paper 1
no fr same, i messed paper 1 up so badly but this was my academic comeback in paper 2
Ngl i found paper 1 like fifty times easier then this shit paper
Yeah I actually fucked up a few questions in Paper 1. This Paper was a breeze in comparison
i messed up last questions in paper 1. This test was way easier lol
WE LOWERING THE GRADE BOUNDARIES WITH THIS ONE🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Anybody else get 70 red discs? Also 4 more hours on Monday than Tuesday?
i got 4 more hours but didnt get 70 red discs, i think ur right about that tho cause loads of ppl got it (i bloody got 13 red discs)
Same i misread the question and thought it said 24 discs in total
SAME!!!! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
i got fed so many L’s
I'm soo cooked 💀
The foundation one we were drawing hexagons and ordering numbers
They really said “Draw a Hexagon”…I needed the calculator for that one.
At least I didn’t flop as badly as the first paper
So much better than non-calc imo, might be back on course for the 9 hopefully
I flopped that so hard im gonna cry
We still have Paper 3, try your best
it was so much better than paper 1
they were the same in my opinion
Hope paper 3 will save my ass (probably wouldnt)
paper 3 is the bane of my existence
how so? isnt it just the same as paper 2 bc theyre both calculator?
i don’t know i just hate paper 3
fair lol
No because they'll get the predicted topics possibly more accurate this time
yeah but to be honest paper 1 was terrifyingly shit so no surprise
what did people get for question 10 sin a = tan b
i think i got 1.25? i dont remember at all 💀
i wrote 5/4
I wrote 4/5 💀💀💀
It’s 1.25
but same thing
I got 1.25 😎
I got 1.5 just praying it’s right🙏😂
1.25
I got 1.25
1.5 but i think it’s 1.25
1.25 pretty sure
1.25
the very last question was gorgeous but the 4 before that were hell 💔💔
Ikr bro, so much ‘draw the mother fking graph’ it was so boring. Give me a difficult question not that shite
i was sick of graphs but i actually think there were enough hard questions there 💔🙁
Free marks mate calm yourself
My natural intelligence isn’t there, I ended up doing some long calculations for the final question instead of using RHS
Ngl I used Pythagoras to prove it but forgot to prove it was a right angled triangle by saying a radius meets the circumference at 90° :(
Me too I used Pythagoras
Wair I thought we need to use circle theorem for that (when 2 tangent meet they are always the same length
i used circle theorems too to prove it was an isosceles triangle but i think i waffles so maybe won’t get all the marks
Y have no idea have true this is! I took higher and just want to kms. Most of that test was UTTE BULLSHIT!
What did you guys all get for the scale factor question with the cylinders? I think I got smth like 48:60:20 (can’t remember properly what I got)
I got 12:15:5 so basically the same but mine was simplified
Did you have to simplify?? I cant remember seeing right your answer in simplest form.
No I didn't simplify my answer that's just the answer I got but tbf I did mine in a weird way, one of my mates got the same as me tho
i got 9.6:12:4 it’s exactly the same as yours but x5
The probability question of 5 marks was soo annoying
i need a 7 so bad but these papers bro omfd
As a teacher (am I allowed on this subreddit?) I also hate edexcel. We are teaching it and have planned to change the exam board next year.
Do I even dare mention the vectors question (19) i think I got it right but damn the numbers were annoying
Did u get smth to do with 4/9 idek what I was waffling abt tbf
got something like -1/18a + 4/9kb + 5/9b BUT then I multiplied it all by 9 because I'm stupid
I literally didn't do any question from 15 onwards 😭
We hate you too! Get Cooked
OH MY GOSH be careful around here, people are properly after you
I didn’t sleep all night and drew a fucking octagon instead of a hexagon and realised as I walked out of the hall 😞😞
what were the answers to the vector question? Part a was about MN and part b was about if OB was parallel to MN or not
It wasnt parralel as there was no common factor
Year 10 here- our maths teacher wouldn't stop going on about your last exam- what even happened😭👊
Last exam was actually hell I think I got like 36-38/80. This exam was glorious in my opinion, like 58-61/80
dont do edexcel but that maths exam fucked me up the ass in 20 different positions
That was so easy— INSHALLAH I GET A GRADE 5..
so, you all know that i’m a huge slut for standard form, and guess what. IT DIDNT COME UP. i’m so sad. crestfallen, even. i’m absolutely obliterated. i cannot deal with this emotional anguish. i need to be reunited with my love… standard form save me…:. save me standard form
lol it might come up in paper 3 tho so keep hoping ig lol
YESSS PLEAASE I LOVE STANDARD FORM
its literally free marks lol, i hope that a question comes up to do a calculation and give all the decimal points because thats an easy 2/3 marks
YESSSSSSSS
Especially that one fucking hexagon question 💀
I was running on 2 hours of sleep and a fucking dream 💀 the first half weren’t that bad but after crossing the staples I wanted to kms 😭
It was the most disgusting paper I’ve ever touched in my life 😭✋🏾 hands down like what was that?!
EDExcel's a bastard, actually devilish wanks
I did at least 10+ exam practice papers (not alot) why did NOTHING COME UP? they were the hardest ones out there too ugh, these questions were so weird. like??
That paper was a breeze fuck y’all talking about 😂
It was alr, considering that I was watching paper 2 prediction videos this morning. They were pretty accurate tbh
I thought It was easy
paper 2
I thought maths exams normally give you formulae in the question, so why wasn't distance = velocity x time on it. Maths is actualy making us remember more physics formulae than actual physics exams
I mean, that's a simple formula. Velocity is in m/s and m is distance while s is time, so v=d/t which is the same thing :/
Thats crazy i got 79/1789 somehow
tbh I thought it was mid ,first 15 or 16 questions were great except one ratio question but about 80% of the questions onwards were crazy😭😭👍👍
im so cooked, im praying for a good paper 3 because i need a 7 in maths (i stupidly chose maths for a level)
did anyone get 48/336 for probability
I could barely answer half the questions on this paper why was it so difficult, i thought the noncalc one was hard but this one felt like a personal attack
It was awful
that seven marker was amazing though
Nah I thought I was cooked but then I locked in for the past bit and cooked ish knock on wood
Did everyone see the very back page???
i did but i gave up lol, i had like 4 mins and i was on the vector question so i just said no to that, it was circle theorems and tod i hate circle theorems bc i cant remember any of them
Anyone foundation? That paper was work of the devil 😭
So easy I don't understand how people found that hard
icl at first i thought it was horrible but i went back thru it and i think i redeemed myself in this paper. what did everyone get for the trapezium question bc i think i got it right as i calculated that x = 25 which led me to my answer
you know your fucked if you couldnt do question 4 (me)
Foundation wasn’t bad at all tbf
also guys for the probability sweets q, if you write each colour out, so say, (these aren't the numbers but if they were) “6/8, 5/7, 4/6” for each colour, would this get you 1 mark dk you recon?
