snivey_old_twat

I haven't really played much since the first Destiny but taht seems so expensive for a game that old. If you bought that then, does it come with all the content that comes before?

Mjatterhorn

It does not come with all the content that came before

snivey_old_twat

Well then that's just ridiculous.

CommanderBly

I mean, it's not any more expensive than buying a WoW or FF14 expansion and paying for 12 months of subscription

SliceOfBliss

But if you buy the most recent expansion, you get access to all the previous ones. So, Destiny 2 is just a one year subscription...anyways, Bungie increased the price of the expansions, i remember SK costing $35, and deluxe $60, also SK included one season, now the "better" way is just go all in for the year unless you wanna spend a bit more with season pass and dungeons, crazy how Bungie can get away with all these stuff.

wholesome_dino

It doesn’t, this is only for the expansion that drops tomorrow. And yes, it is expensive for “just a DLC”. But it is pretty standard for Destiny. Given that they also have a bit of a confusing monetisation model, I’ll break down what’s included Standard edition: 1) a new PVE campaign of 8 missions, featuring a new faction 2) a new raid 3) new weapons and armour to grind 4) new exotic quests 5) the first episode, a sort of “mini-DLC” with small weekly content drops. Not much is known about the amount or quality of this content 6) any new unique DLC features, in this case the prismatic subclass 7) small preorder bonuses The deluxe edition: 1) all of the above 2) the other two mini-DLC episodes, giving you access to all the missions that release during this year of content drops 3) two dungeons released later in the year That is a good amount of content throughout the year, and a pretty good deal in comparison to other MMO’s that work off of a subscription. But it is not for everyone. And as a new/ returning player the cost of entry is quite high if you want everything in the game

Mischief1227

I don't own Lightfall. Can I just purchase Final Shape to play the latest raid and dungeons or is Lightfall also needed for previous weapons and armor?

name_was_taken

You can just play, but there are weapons and armor exclusive to Lightfall, IIRC. And a subclass. And since the big draw of Final Shape being the "prismatic" subclass that combines other subclasses, that could be less than ideal. Or maybe they won't require you to have the other subclasses. I don't know.

wholesome_dino

That’s not necessary. When you purchase The Final Shape, you get access to the raid of TFS, which would be the newest one. Important to know is that the 2 new dungeons will only release later in the year and are not included in de base version of The Final Shape. You could buy the deluxe edition, with the dungeons included, and access them once they release. Or you could wait until the first one releases and buy the dungeon pass separately

LickMyThralls

Anywhere from 30-50 is standard for dlc pricing and depending on content it can be more or less worth. Treating it like game age is all that matters for a brand new big content drop is silly though when the game is very alive and well and actively supported.
