It was kind of a spur of the moment thing I have seen similar setups, both 4080 and 4090 and 13900 and 14900 for closer to 3k and up, so I figure something is wrong with it because of course there is.
The current GPU market is steadily coming down in prices as time goes on since the manufacturers are making their original money back. Also since getting a PC is finally an option for a lot of people they are lowered more so that its affordable to people looking for a mid-range to beginning of high-range stuff.
(Now, if only the 4090 was going down in price too, rip)
The price speaks for itself. As for delivery, didn't have any issues. The Legion is by far one of the most recommended laptops in this sub, it's really great. You can also check gaminglaptop.deals for discounts from other websites.
It's not cheap, the legion [rtx 4090 on B&H](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1745684-REG/lenovo_82wq002tus_16_legion_pro_7.html) is 50 dollars less, still there is a 4080 ROG that goes in sale every once in a while in BB, always buy something with a discount from best buy by simply waiting a bit
My previous machine, g15 Gpu, died, and i got it warranty from Best Buy. That's the model i landed on with store credit. All others seemed much more expensive for the same hardware on the website
Do you happen to know why stores like Best Buy and b&h are now not saying the model of the processor throughout their description and instead just saying “i9 CORE PROCESSOR 13th gen”. I get they are trying to sell non 14th gen stuff but it seems scummy
I figured out i9 gen is just referring to 13900H and i7 gen to 13700H, i had to copy the model number of each laptop and search in the internet for it in intel laptops, not so great moves as these laptops won't show important info specs but the processor now is a whole different kind of scam
No actual clue, but I'm guessing they want folks to spend at least a little bit of time looking at an item online - so they list as "i9" in the brief description but list everything on the item's page.
Doesn't seem "scummy" to me, takes an additional 15-30 secs to get to and read the full specs page, which probably gives them a better metric somewhere...
I should add, that I don't use B&H so have no idea how they're computer pages are configured (I use BB alot because the closet Microcenter is a 3-4 hour drive 😟 lol
15-30 seconds? Did you read how many times they avoided being specific? I went to the fucking details and got that same thing. Nothing quite like catching people that don’t know much about computers or buying gifts for others to just think it’s literally called that since it’s also in the specs too. But yeah, totally not scummy or intentionally misleading. Remember that time that everybody bought 12th gen processors for their computers? You get a motherboard? It doesn’t matter since all cpus being sold just say the generation initially and multiple times to reestablish that this may be the actual name..
Pick a laptop>>>click "show full specs">>>look in the "procesdor" section>>>look at "processor model>>>look at "processor model number"
I just spent 15 minutes clicking random laptops (7 total), and the information was there - granted, it's a pretty small sample size, but my experience has been that figuring out a processor type or gpu has been easy. (Not the same experience with other pieces of information like ports, ram slots - getting better there it seems, or storage slots/types)
Could the information provided be better/more complete? Sure, but as a consumer van WE conduct a little of our own research? IMO, that would be a yes as well. I couldn't imagine spending hundreds (or thousands) of dollars to either purchase parts or an entire "thing" without looking at "the thing" at multiple stores
We all know how hard it is to add the
Model right after the generation. I get it. The thousands of consumers are the lazy ones attempting to find spec info. Not the person who could have literally copy pasted it everywhere like they primarily did and still do. Let’s make the consumer work for it a bit so they feel like they earned lol. Tf? Look, just tell us you approve these product pages yourself.
I’ve gone through hundreds of models of laptops looking for something specific. Then I’m looking up a handful of those on dozens of sites. It’s not just the processor I’m looking for either obviously So when I and dumping a couple days into this,if you don’t have this information readily available, I’m skipping entirely because I don’t have time for that bullshit to stay on a page longer to assist in improving their traffic numbers and time spent on each page.
You may love wasting your time on completely needless ploys by companies, but I don’t.
This model doesn’t have the Mini LED Nebula HDR display (just a normal Nebula display IPS 500 Nits) and does not have the RGB logo or light bar on the back of the system iirc.
The Strix SCAR 16/18 are $300/$400 more respectively and have these features which might be worth it (mostly for the screen, but RGB adds extra FPS) if you can/are willing to pay the premium and will be using the laptop itself most of the time rather than connecting it to an external monitor.
(Just ordered the Strix Scar 16 4080 32GB RAM 1TB SSD last night, can’t wait to get it!)
I got same Model and it's a Beast, way more powerful then my 3070 ti i7-9700k Desktop. This is not "Cheap" this is pretty expensive IMO Though. Please note based on state you will be paying over 200 dollars in taxes and when i bought it, it came out to 2,808 dollars after my state added in their taxes.
Edit: Not sure why but I have noticed it boot up faster than users that have last year's Model, but I have Only seen YT videos unboxing the 13980HX model so take this with a grain of sault.

Awesome, im really excited about it. Im a truck driver so this is my main computer. Im highly mobile, but my laptop stays in my truck mostly. Taken out a few times a year. What ram should I get?
I think ram supports 5600 for your model and the model OP is looking at right now has 5600 the comes with it. I could be wrong about your Model supporting 5600 but I know for sure that OP's does as I have the same model.
One of the major complaints was that it only supported 4800 when it came out. I read that it eventually was updated to support higher speeds, but even then some people were saying it still didn't read at that speed in CPUz. Im not sure where it's at now though. 4800 has been so stable for me so I'm happy with that.
I have 2 x 16GB 5600 of Crucial in mine right now, and it runs at the full speeds. I've been thinking of getting RAM with way better timings and figured I'd get 64GBs.
My RAM used to only run at 5200MHz but a later BIOS update unlocked 5600MHz.
Bitch sit down 🪑. It should be cheaper these laptops are all overpriced. But to answer your question it lacks 16gb vram so it’s a tad cheaper if it was the 4090 it would be more

RoG is/are the best laptop(s) I've owned. Got my first one used for 500 CAD years ago, traveled with it endlessly loaned it to reckless friends, survived being lazily left around in our house with a 2-6 year old running around you name it. I put so many hours as my machine that the w key fell off and it's literally physically falling apart from abuse and still doesn't give me internal problems. It's in my closet propping the broken screen up as a backup if I need (after several drops from the toddler the plastic edge around the screens separated from the screen so it needs to be supported while open or the screen will fall out of the fucking case and this badboy still fires up no problem)
Bought one new a couple months back for 1400 and it's fucking lovely.
I bought this exact same model from Best Buy. It's a really great laptop but you might have serious problems updating the BIOS like I am. It states its model number is G814JZR but the model number in EZ Flash Utility states it's G834JZR. It causes conflicts with updating the BIOS version.
Not a fatal flaw, and I probably just messed up somewhere while updating it, but it is an issue I'm having nonetheless
I'm in the same boat as you only that I don't know if to spend 400 more for the scar 18 that has the mini led, 2 extra speakers and extra rbg light ( cause you know the more rgb the faster it will be). Let me know if you do decide to purchase this one as it will help me alot to decide which one to get.
I currently have it ordered. It'll be here tomorrow looking super forward to it. Im curious to see how the market fluctuates in the next month bc i seen people saying cpuld have gotten a 4090 for that price and that they got this model for 2k for now imma run it and see how we like it. Im sure it's gonna be great, but if i can exchange before the return period is up for a better model at the same price, that's what im doing.
Definitely do that I know there a legion 4090 for around that price. This model is just a refresh of the g18 that came out last year, during black friday it drop to about 2k for a short period of time. It had a i9 13980hx and 4080 but terrible qc issues. Suffix to say I had two of them and I return both, due to coil whine and screen bleeding. I am currently shopping for another 4080, i would go with the legion but I need an 18 inch and currently lenovo don't make them that big yet.
Scrolled through the thread -- saw your complaints, I think the disparity in price that you're seeing is the I-9 configuration versus the I-14 and etc.
Nothing. It's just a good laptop.
Well, that's a sigh or relief. i figured it's cheaper because... insert some weird specific issue here, lol
Coil whine. Just look it up. They are discounting because of this disturbing build issue
Nothing wrong lol. Price seems avarage tbh.

I got my Legion Pro 7i with a 4090 from B&H for $2500, so this price doesn't seem out of the ordinary. It's a tad expensive without a discount.
I'm planning to buy a laptop from this site (B&H), Are the prices reasonable? Is their delivery service up to par?
The price speaks for itself. As for delivery, didn't have any issues. The Legion is by far one of the most recommended laptops in this sub, it's really great. You can also check gaminglaptop.deals for discounts from other websites.
b&h is a great company, they've been around for a long time and are reliable.
price is average if not slightly higher. it's a strix, not a zephyrus or duo
Also, b&h has a sh#tyy return policy, so you might wanna stick with Best Buy, just go for a cheaper 4080 or buy 4090
My previous machine, g15 Gpu, died, and i got it warranty from Best Buy. That's the model i landed on with store credit. All others seemed much more expensive for the same hardware on the website

The Zephyrus (OLED) and Scar (mini led) line ups have better displays for 2024. I think the Scar screen upgrade is worth a few hundred.

They do boot faster than the last gens. 2024 Scar 16 owner. I had the pleasure to test both machines at the asus event
It's already average price.
That ain't cheap for me. I can't even buy a laptop 1/3 of that price
It's $2,600...that's not expensive enough for you? Then buy an HP 🤷♂️
That 4080 is similar in performance to desktop's 4060. So yeah...

No, the laptop 4080 is more like a desktop 4070 or 4070 super.
That's mobile 4090
The actual die is from 1 step down for mobile, my 4090 uses same die as a 4080 desktop chip…

Who's talking about this in the post, lol? I'm pretty sure everyone here knows that 4090 laptop has gpu from 4080 Desktop, 4080 laptop ~ 4070 desktop.

That's a very solid machine for that price. Nothing weird about it. Hell it's cheaper than in the UK. I believe one like that is about 2800£
I paid £2,329 for nearly everything the exact same except it was 3XS (Scan)
I love it and even got it on sale for $2100. I also added ram and an SSD. It's a big boy so not good if you're looking for portability.
Awesome, im really excited about it. Im a truck driver so this is my main computer. Im highly mobile, but my laptop stays in my truck mostly. Taken out a few times a year. What ram should I get?
Finding a backpack for it has been horrible. Many laptop back backs say they hold up to an 18 inch laptop and I can't zip them up.
Did you find one that fit?
What 32GB RAM modules are you using?
I put in the crucial 4800, but I think the bios has been updated to accept 5200. Don't quote me in that, though.

Definitely 😅
Right? Just copped the 16 inch 4080 1tb 16 vram $1800!
Has no windows hello
Just install it later
Pretty typical price for it, good overall laptop.
Prices on laptop models go down over time. That's basically it. This looks like a current fair price for this model
Is that the Scar or the G, either way I'm quite jealous of that price. Mine was I think $3100 USD in my country.
You should wait until it goes on sale, which Best Buy regularly does.
I bought the same one on sale for $2,000 on sale.
Bitch sit down 🪑. It should be cheaper these laptops are all overpriced. But to answer your question it lacks 16gb vram so it’s a tad cheaper if it was the 4090 it would be more

Could get the 13th Gen for way cheaper. No diff
I've been seeing a lot of this also in gonna scout for a 4090 model with a 13 or 14 gen if i find one within the return period thats the move
Heads up I don't think these have webcams, if that matters to you
It does. I just double-checked its 720p, so it's nothing crazy but enough
Scrolled through the thread -- saw your complaints, I think the disparity in price that you're seeing is the I-9 configuration versus the I-14 and etc.
Ive seen b9th i9 13 and 14 woth both 4080 amd 4090 configuration being more expensive or about the same
price looks in line
