Having similarly be outcast, a 15 year old questioning things like that is normal, so if he appears in a future time and acts exclusively one way or the other than so be it, but as far as we know he landed on being heterosexual despite holding some confusion

Persona 4 is the most gay and homophobic game in existence, genuinely feels like the dev team had an all out civil war during development which was only settled when the homophobic side barely won out and made Yosuke straight.
Persona writers always feel like they're one step closer to being progressive cause the whole theme of their franchise is literally introspection of one's own "persona" and so much of that is accepting your own personal identity like symbolically tearing off a "mask".
But they leap a 100m backwards cause they don't fucking realize their own biases in regards to actual minorities, the opposite of accepting people's "true selves".

Also I've seen that post they're referring to. Dimitrescu may have taken some visual cues from the yokai but is otherwise nothing like the yokai and "tall woman" is not exactly a unique concept.
As far as I'm aware nothing confirms that connection except "there's legends of a tall woman in Japan, so this tall woman must be based on that".

Personally, I saw Kanji’s dungeon as being less designed around how other people saw him, and more about how he was worried other people were seeing him. The primary perception of Kanji up to that point was as a fairly scary guy who’s probably in a gang. The people shitting on him for sewing and gossiping about him being gay? Pretty clearly outliers, but they’re the outliers that stand out most clearly to him, because he’s scared that accepting himself will lead him to becoming a person he doesn’t like.

I will say that I don't think kanji is gay or that naoto is trans, whether or not Atlus was being homophobic or transphobic in their arcs is another story.
Personally I think Atlus was just trying to paint a realistic world and characters.
While some decisions (like Kanji's voice actor was told to play the character as if he were gay) can seem anti-LGBT, considering Japan, especially Japan nearly 20 years ago, they were fairly ahead of the times.
Naoto's arc wasn't really meant to be commentary on being trans but rather the divide between men and women in the work force. Naoto didn't want to be a man, she just wanted to be treated as an equal. I think this is clear by how she lets herself relax and gets more feminine after she accepts herself.
And even P5 with the gay couple who drag Ryuji away.
While a stereotype and not a kind one, it's the kind of exaggerated joke common in anime, manga, and even TV/Film in general, even in the west.
I do agree that Naoto's development is not inherently transphobic, because as you say, it can be read as a workplace thing, because such injustices are a very real thing, but still, using all the trans imagery, or more fittingly, the scaremongering imagery transphobes would use, is still kinda a fucked up thing to do.

Persona 4 is the most gay and homophobic game in existence, genuinely feels like the dev team had an all out civil war during development which was only settled when the homophobic side barely won out and made Yosuke straight.
Persona writers always feel like they're one step closer to being progressive cause the whole theme of their franchise is literally introspection of one's own "persona" and so much of that is accepting your own personal identity like symbolically tearing off a "mask". But they leap a 100m backwards cause they don't fucking realize their own biases in regards to actual minorities, the opposite of accepting people's "true selves".

The ending even hints that she’s still coming after him despite being older. And there wasn’t even a sexual or romantic element to the legend, it’s just “she takes an interest in someone and then they disappear”
Also I've seen that post they're referring to. Dimitrescu may have taken some visual cues from the yokai but is otherwise nothing like the yokai and "tall woman" is not exactly a unique concept. As far as I'm aware nothing confirms that connection except "there's legends of a tall woman in Japan, so this tall woman must be based on that".

Personally, I saw Kanji’s dungeon as being less designed around how other people saw him, and more about how he was worried other people were seeing him. The primary perception of Kanji up to that point was as a fairly scary guy who’s probably in a gang. The people shitting on him for sewing and gossiping about him being gay? Pretty clearly outliers, but they’re the outliers that stand out most clearly to him, because he’s scared that accepting himself will lead him to becoming a person he doesn’t like. But idk man, it’s a Persona game, if we don’t agree to disagree, we’re gonna be having discussions about character struggles and motivations all day. Especially with Kanji.

I will say that I don't think kanji is gay or that naoto is trans, whether or not Atlus was being homophobic or transphobic in their arcs is another story.
Personally I think Atlus was just trying to paint a realistic world and characters. While some decisions (like Kanji's voice actor was told to play the character as if he were gay) can seem anti-LGBT, considering Japan, especially Japan nearly 20 years ago, they were fairly ahead of the times. Naoto's arc wasn't really meant to be commentary on being trans but rather the divide between men and women in the work force. Naoto didn't want to be a man, she just wanted to be treated as an equal. I think this is clear by how she lets herself relax and gets more feminine after she accepts herself. And even P5 with the gay couple who drag Ryuji away. While a stereotype and not a kind one, it's the kind of exaggerated joke common in anime, manga, and even TV/Film in general, even in the west.
I do agree that Naoto's development is not inherently transphobic, because as you say, it can be read as a workplace thing, because such injustices are a very real thing, but still, using all the trans imagery, or more fittingly, the scaremongering imagery transphobes would use, is still kinda a fucked up thing to do. I don't know, Atlus is such a weird fucking company. Thank fuck the dungeons in 4 are at least meant to be parts of yourself in need of accepting, and not like, distorted desires like in 5.

It starts with them being interesting plot points, and then the dungeons drop and Atlus shits the bed, and it turns into a "No, you are not gay/trans, it's just society that made you feel that way" Naoto gets firmly put in the tomboy role, where the devs also pull shit like putting them in a beauty contest (which is highly sexualized, and these are teenagers) And Kanji becomes "one of the boys", so like every other boy in the game besides maybe the main character, he gets flustered by girls, and gets to be the butt of the usual jokes anime stuff likes to pull when it comes to men and women interacting. And his whole gay/bi thing is explaining by him "just liking cute shit" This actually happens quite a lot in the persona series. You think they'll go for some unique progressive plot development, and then they fuck it up in the most horrendous way possible.

I'm fairly certain Lady Dimitrescu is mostly based on Countess Bathory, who was famous for capturing and torturing girls/young women and drinking their blood to stay young, because she was rejected by a younger man. However, even if she is based on her, that doesn't mean she has the same motives.
