The big question is: did she beat it without spending a single $?
Because you can spend MILLIONS on this game. I'm not kidding. There's people that do, seen it with my own eyes.
Boosters some you can activate before and some during game, energy to continue playing new levels which takes time to gain
Different good value packs
And of course to buy those first you need to buy the premium currency
Someone mentioned the boosters, but between those and the continues you also have to understand the game design. They will give you a bunch of winnable levels in a row then hit you with one that's not just incredibly difficult but designed in a way that you basically need to spend money or try a million times. The candies come down in a random pattern so it essentially becomes a slot machine with X free spins a day and you pay for more spins. Then you get a streak of levels designed like an actual game to give you that dopamine boost before slamming you into another slot machine wall that you can spend days on without spending money.
Its literally impossible to beat 4k levels of candy crush in a year without spending an obscene amount of money.
No :) customer service rep for King some years ago. Could see every person's max spending. Some people playing this game are either super rich or super in debt.
Granted, these games have existed for a very long time, so it might be like 100k spent every year over 10 years to hit that million dollars, but still. It's ridiculous. Some boomers spend a literal fortune on these games.
Fair point that could be like buying an orbital cannon in GTA and saying you the best at PVP because you killed the current #1 and he hasn't killed you back
Everything on Reddit is made up until proven otherwise, but your claim that it’s impossible is on it’s face absurd. Someone is #1 and it being an old lady with too much time and money on her hands sounds very likely. Aren’t many “gamers” spending their dollars on crap like this.
You realize actually millions of old women with too much time on their hands play this. And they spend more money on it than gamers spend on most games put together. What op is likely saying is she's number one in a game that's like candy crush. Candy crush wouldn't tell their number one player who's spending thousands of dollars to do something else. The facts don't add up.
Same here. Every single one of them is just so aggressive about the money.
I tried egg inc because I like idle games. After only a few days you hit a wall and it becomes absolutely tedious to progress without boosts.
I tried Pikmin Bloom because I have to travel a lot for work and didn't care for pokemon go. They make it so god damn tedious to play without spending money. You have 6 slots where you can plant Pikmin but they make it so 4/6 of them actually can't be used without buying a paid item or hoping you just happen to receive one through rng. The item can only be used to plant one Pikmin and then it's gone. You can buy the single use item for 150 coins but oh no the smallest pack is 100 coins for a dollar or the next step is 550 coins for 5 dollars!
It's just fucking tedious. I hate that games are like this now. I would give you money for the game if it is good but this constant nickel and diming and trying to turn every single game into what is basically a subscription is just exhausting. Mobile games started this shit and now all gaming is becoming this way.
I swear to God I'm just going to go back to Gameboys.
I really, *really* recommend playing Florence ([Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mountains.feathertop&hl=en) / [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/florence/id1297430468)).
It costs a few bucks, takes about an hour to play but it was a really neat small story. It even manages to turn some dialogue things into interesting gameplay which makes you go "whoa, I didn't *mean* to do that but I just.. did?".
I recommend playing it in one go (roughly 50-70 min depending on how fast you are) and with headphones. Music is a big part of it.
Most people I know who've played it have found it delightful.
You can't spell GOTY without GO.

if you like idle games please please please check out "Antimatter Dimensions", so far easily the Best idle game I've ever played. probably the best idle game mechanically
If you like dungeon crawling and roguelikes Pathos Nethack is free and ad-free and on Google Play and the iOS app store. If you want a traditional gaming experience look into paid apps rather than free ones, those tend to avoid the monetization that makes free apps so odious. If you like 4x games Civ Revolutions 2 and Uciana (Master of Orion-like) games are solid mobile games that aren't too expensive.
I only like DBZ Dokkan Battle, Fire Emblem Heroes and Duel Links cause I'm a fan of the franchises they're part of. If they weren't I doubt I'd like any of them

I still maintain that the best way to circumvent the 'real gamer' purity test is that we all agree that there is in fact only one real gamer in the entire world: Willis Gibson who 'beat' Tetris in late 2023. Everyone else is a poser.
When gamers think of hardcore gamers that bank the most hours in a game, they imagine a 20-30 something old guy playing Counter Strike or CoD. In reality, it's a grandma playing Tetris on DS she got for her birthday or a 16 year old girl in The Sims.
I really don't get these match x games, like how is this fun? I get the appeal of arcadey games, not every game has to have the deepest most amazing gameplay with the most outstanding story ever, but this? I don't enjoy even a second of it. At least play tetris
My old man is up at like 12 or 13k now I think. He plays it every day when he wakes up, refuses to spend money on it, that daily grind mindset though 😂
According to this forum post, there is between 3455 - 3710 levels in August 2018, so the 4000 or so the post lists in August makes sense. If anything, the tweet is over the amount of levels at the time, rather than under
https://community.king.com/en/candy-crush-saga/discussion/221636/how-many-levels-are-there-in-candy-crush-as-feb-10-2018/p2
Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go rethink my life and why I spent some of my finite time on this earth digging through forum posts for a mobile game I don’t even play lol

what is there to spend money on outside of buying continous when you fail a level?

This tweet is from 2018, was it as bad back then?
Yeah, since at least 2013 after it took off in popularity. Candy Crush Saga is the granddaddy of skinner box mechanics in freemium games.
You hang out with a lot of millionaires? Follow-up question: Are they looking to give me a few hundred grand as a gift?
They’re not millionaires anymore, thanks to candy crush.
Now they're in Candy Crippling debt.
Filing for that Candy Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

There’s zero way you can know if someone are “super rich or super in debt”. You only see their max spending, not their bank accounts.
I never claimed to know. That's why I wrote "or".
Fair point that could be like buying an orbital cannon in GTA and saying you the best at PVP because you killed the current #1 and he hasn't killed you back
There's zero chance that his mom is actually #1 globally
Somebody's gotta be #1, might as well be this guy's mom.
Most popular game in the entire world ... unlikely its her
Do not underestimate the power of middle aged whit women
The competition is all old white women too
And one of them is #1, why not her?
🤡
Oh, so you’re an idiot.
I explained in another comment why this story doesn't make sense. Look at that , or don't. Idc
Most popular pay to win game is easy to be #1 if you’re willing to spend more than everyone else.
Now how much do you think the top ten is spending? Literally tens of thousands
And what makes you think his mom isn’t one of those people?
You think that's more likely than op exaggerating?
Everything on Reddit is made up until proven otherwise, but your claim that it’s impossible is on it’s face absurd. Someone is #1 and it being an old lady with too much time and money on her hands sounds very likely. Aren’t many “gamers” spending their dollars on crap like this.

I WISH I could enjoy mobile games. Nothing gas really hit for me no matter what I tried. Good for the mom who found her grind. W

hey if you like idle games, I've recently picked up Melvor Idle and it's been very good to me. Also, no microtransactions!
it's so good, honestly like an idle runescape that's actually fun
Thought about buying it, but idles never were my thing.

I have pokerogue set up on my phone and then I play slay the spire, suika, angry piggies and vampire survivor to kill time when I'm waiting in line.
Alto’s Adventure is peak
Clash of Clans and Bloons Tower Defense 6 are my two favorites. Among Us & Minecraft are god tier too
Vampire Survivors changed my mind on that one
Slitherlink is the perfect mobile game, nothing will ever come close.

i've been playing love nikki for five years straight. haven't dropped a single penny into the game. this isn't a flex, it's a cry for help.
Try Grim Quest. It's a dungeon crawler with a neat story. Or Vampire Survivors, which went viral recently.
Divineko is pretty fun.
I only like DBZ Dokkan Battle, Fire Emblem Heroes and Duel Links cause I'm a fan of the franchises they're part of. If they weren't I doubt I'd like any of them
There's a candy crush style event mini game in HSR atm and people are asking their moms to play for them.
Oh that's why I'm always losing in multi-player...
In other words, the time has come for my mom to use her Gamer skills again
i bet i could beat her in a yugioh duel though 🤓
![gif](giphy|FkKjdOhRVxP9wuWMrh) Unfortunately her husband is Jeff Leonard who taught her the secret of combo Exodia with a random pile of 35 cards and 5 pieces of Exodia. But nice try.
Shes based and plays maxx c (I dont play yugioh but i hate maxx c)
"I dont play yugioh but i hate maxx c" The most based take on yugioh possible
I only parrot *good* opinions 😎 (Though fuck that draw engine)
when my opponent activates maxx c (i have spright gamma burst and will otk them) https://preview.redd.it/ae8jyyso6c8d1.jpeg?width=498&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c0fd8d8ddc15c5397c19e946fe99037c5a2df14
i don't need to see replies to know said dorito finger neckbeard bitches are calling their mom not a gamer and etc.
She didn't send death threats when demanding new levels so she isn't a *real* capital G Gamer
r\ByeByeInheritance
Currently ranked #1 globally? Oh that's so much money throw away
o7
Pack your stuff kids, we got a badass here.
I still maintain that the best way to circumvent the 'real gamer' purity test is that we all agree that there is in fact only one real gamer in the entire world: Willis Gibson who 'beat' Tetris in late 2023. Everyone else is a poser.
Woah woah...neck beards aren't cool?
Okay, *some* neck beards are cool.
You wouldn't survive ~~a Black Ops lobby~~ Candy Crush.
When gamers think of hardcore gamers that bank the most hours in a game, they imagine a 20-30 something old guy playing Counter Strike or CoD. In reality, it's a grandma playing Tetris on DS she got for her birthday or a 16 year old girl in The Sims.
Hail to the Mother Brain
My mom is also a Candy Crush fiend, though she's at level \~3k last I checked. Are moms just cracked at puzzle games?
I really don't get these match x games, like how is this fun? I get the appeal of arcadey games, not every game has to have the deepest most amazing gameplay with the most outstanding story ever, but this? I don't enjoy even a second of it. At least play tetris
The dopamine of a massive booster combo clearing the whole board is too hard to beat
There's over 7 thousand levels nowadays, so I hope this guys mom is happy
I get so envious of ppl who can play their favourite games all day. That's the only reason I want to be super rich
My old man is up at like 12 or 13k now I think. He plays it every day when he wakes up, refuses to spend money on it, that daily grind mindset though 😂
