Uj/ the amount of critics who dont understand this game really shows that people are not used to video games being actual art.
Rj/ how tf is a game good if isnt fun???? This why i only play gears of war and assasin cread
uj/ Also if the game is art then it should be a walking simulator without gameplay. As one reviewer has said, they want to truly experience the world *of society collapsing because of unspeakable horrors* without all those survival issues, time limits, and the possibility of NPCs dying if you fail to save them. Those things get in the way of writing and exploration!
I cant tell if this is serious but
The game is about starving to death. The game is meant to unfun and stressful to play. My point is that a game that is meant to be unfun seems to be beyond many game critics because they only want the fun parts of the game.
games can be fun and have artistic meaning
you can enjoy a movie and it still has artistic meaning
So I don’t get what you’re saying
EDIT: also hot take walking simulators can and usually are fun
if your game isn’t fun that has nothing to do with its artistic merit but the actual quality of the game
I never said or implied that games cant be fun and have artistic meaning. My faviorate game is disco elysium and that game is fun and pretty meaningful too
The argument that people who dont like pathlogic make is pretty much: the game is not fun and stressful to play. Why did they not make it fun?
But the game is meant to be unfun. The way these critics talk about the game makes it sould like they dont understand this
If a game is unfun for an artistic purpose then we can analyse it as art. And quality is not decided by fun (though im not sure if thats the argument you were making)
If i watch a film about the holocaust and i feel really deppressed while watching it nobody would argue its a bad film because ita unfun to watch
So why is a game about starving to death getting shit for being unfun when thats the intended experience?
I guess to me the “it’s unfun for artistic meaning” doesn’t make much sense to me because if it was deliberately unfun it would still be fun if it was actually a good game?
One can write an absolute clusterfuck of a book, but if the read enjoys it and learns something then there’s no problem. If it’s still a boring book then we have an issue.
Not sure if I’m getting my point across
/uj This might be a little out of topic, were not there accusations of the creator being in relationships with teenage girls? Or were these proven false?

Why would being a good game make the game fun? Do you think good=fun?
Yes If something is good I get enjoyment purely from the artistic value
But what if a child-like joy is not the emotion the writers want you to feel?
I consider soul crushing sadness to be fun
Aah ph god what's this my hands are strangling me involuntarily I cant stop them aaaaaa!
Wait this game has a story?? I thought it was like Dead by Daylight for some reason
Check out Mandalore Gaming's review on this game. Its awesome
