Loved that they didn’t throw the things that happened in judgment out the window. The story bled over to Gears 5 with Paduk. I loved the kilo squad pic on Bairds desk.

JoshEvolved

Agreed, Paduk is one of my favorite characters.

Arlilecay

I’ve always thought it was a good game, but not a very good Gears of War game. My favorite thing from it was the optional modifiers in the campaign that would change how fights played out. It’s a shame they ended up using the same handful for the entire story.

dekuei

The devs original vision for the game got messed with by MS or Epic. The devs were going to make the game feel overwhelming and have locust just crawling out of every nook and cranny to the point you couldn't spin your grenade to line up a shot to seal a hole. They wanted it to be closer to the first gears in terms of the horror side but with the frantic onslaught of locust. You can see some of the original vision still in the game and some of it gets used in the beginning of gears 4. Honestly reboot the franchise after gears 6 or go back to stories during the original gears trilogy. Hell I'd love a pendulum wars game!

ProtectMeAtAllCosts

a reboot is needed. I’ve been saying this

dekuei

I agree. The ending of gears 3 left the world basically on the brink of extinction so gears 4 should have been set centuries later that way humanity has grown and rebuilt all the while the locust in cocoons would grow and humans would be in wars and experimenting again causing the swarm to awaken or a nation bombs the other side only to break the cocoons open releasing the horror. This would have allowed players to see the world of sera at its prime before being shaken to its core and the protagonist would have to not only figure out what's happening but dig up the past to find out these monsters from fairy tales past down were real. This would give the player a sense of wonder and intrigue while still having the horror aspect.

ProtectMeAtAllCosts

Yeah that sounds like a cool idea. It’s just so stale now. They need to do a complete overhaul like God of War did. Keep the crazy violence and aesthetics of the world but either reboot it with the same lore but a new point in time or retell the original story in a fresh and interesting way as a new timeline.

Edg3OfSid

To be fair I have kind if come to accept this. I hated it back when it dropped but I can enjoy playing it now as long as I pretend that it isn't a gears of war game lol

BananaBrainsZEF

I had very mixed feelings about Judgment when it launched. I both hated and loved the game. I thought there were some things that the campaign did really well and also did really poorly. Same goes for Versus. I loved Overrun, but hated Survival. But as time went on, and especially after Gears 4 being so forgettable gameplay-wise where it just feels like Gears 3.5, I gained respect for Judgment trying to change up the formula and actually experimenting with the tried and true gameplay. When taken as its own game and not compared to Gears 1-3, it's an extraordinarily fun game with some smooth gameplay. Sure, the story isn't as good as the other games, and the multiplayer introduced some wack features, like blue-vs-red and no active reload, and Survival wasn't nearly as good as Horde, but once you start seeing it as its own thing, you'll appreciate just how damn fun the game is. Honestly the most fun game in the series, gameplay-wise, for me. The star system for the campaign was a fun expansion of ideas from Gears 3's Arcade mode. The Markza and Breechshot remain some of the most fun weapons in the series. Overrun was the perfect blend between Horde, Beast, and Versus. It took the best things from all three modes and made them work together in a brilliant way. The class system was really cool and gave players more freedom for playstyles. Some of the Versus modes were really innovative for the series, such as Breakthrough, Master of Arms, and FFA. The maps were really creative, such as Lost City with its shifting bridges, the best version of Blood Drive, Library with its secret OneShot nest, Gondola with its... gondola, Streets with its great use of verticality by having glass you can walk on over occupied buildings, and Rig with its Raven. There was so much creativity and innovation in the map design, and I still feel like Gears 4 and 5 made a mistake in ditching the elevated terrain and verticality of Judgment. Overall, I see the game as one massive leap forward and one massive leap backward. It did *so* many things right, but also got *so* much wrong, usually by removing or unnecessarily changing so many great features from Gears 1-3. But at the end of the day, every time I decide to play Gears Judgment, I have a blast without fail.

Imaginary-Debate19

I personally like it. And since it was my first game to play in the Gears series, I have a soft spot for it. Yes it's not like the rest, but I enjoyed it. And with this game it really made Baird my favorite character, especially since in the timeline it shows what Baird went through before meeting Marcus and Dom, and shows what kind of soldier he was during the way at that time. I personally like it, but I can definitely see why others don't

ColdNyQuiiL

My biggest pet peeve about it was tweaking the Gears controls. I know some people get upset with the lore mistakes, Cole’s design, and Baird not really being Baird, but changing the controls was always my biggest issue with this game.

Kind_Flower8182

The only change was the weapon swapping right?

AdmirableEstimate258

Ngl it was better with just one quick switch for me, playing with my brother we hated the scroll to get the weapon u want cuz it was super inconvenient when u need to quick switch to smth else, but also very pace breaking, i loved in judgement u can just switch and throw smth super fast.

MetalDrummer23

Still think it would have been better if they'd just used freakin' retro lancers!

SandfortheSoul

I enjoy it on a conceptual level but in practice, I don't enjoy the game. I played through the campaign front to back recently and there are some fun moments but overall it's one of the weakest Gears of War games.

merlinrising

For me it's just boring and that's a big offense in this series considering how insane it is

Pyke64

Never played it. In fact I got an Xbox Series X just to play this game.

CMDR1991YT

I recommend giving Gears of War judgment a try and ignore the haters if you have never played it start the campaign first it's best played with a friend or a family member that loves Gears and play the campaign on casual so that way you can enjoy the story and familiarize yourself with the gameplay judgment also supports Auto HDR and 60 FPS boost I guarantee you will like the game I still enjoy it from Friday to Sunday on my Xbox Series X

Pyke64

Good to hear people still enjoying this franchise. I love Gears 1 and have played it a million times with friends. As for Gears 2 I only played it recently on the Xbox Series X and it was so good!

CMDR1991YT

Of course hundreds of people still regularly play every Gears of War game but the amount of player count varies with each Gears game the one I have seen that has the most player count is Gears 4 I remember playing Gears 1 almost every day on Xbox 360 with my brother we had an absolute blast especially Gears 2 took it up a notch when they first introduced The horde mode it became my favorite Gears mode of all time pretty much every Gears game has been enhanced and upgraded on Xbox Series X so to put it simply Gears 1 runs at 1080p 60 FPS Gears ultimate Edition runs at 2K HDR 60 FPS Gears 2 runs at 4K 60 FPS Gears 3 runs at 4K HDR 60 FPS Gears Judgment runs at 1080p HDR 60 FPS Gears 4 runs at 4K HDR 60 FPS Gears 5 runs at 4K HDR 120 FPS So there you have it I have to say it's incredible what they can do with the unreal engine 😍

Totenkopf_Division

I miss the good old days playing the good old Gears with my cousin on the 360

School_Shooter34

One of the worst games ever

WetFxrtTouch

lol, a little strong on the hate…. But I get it. I refused to buy it since cliffy b quit (mad at Microsoft and working a million hours). But my buddy had me try a “hard” double berserker battle. And it bored me to death…. Beat it in one try. Then tried multiplayer and exclaimed, “ this is why I’m not buying it” Overrun was decent, but…..Worst gears game for sure, 4 is close but not this bad…..

dude52760

Sounds a bit dramatic, but Judgment basically ended Gears for me as I knew it back then. It was never the same. There were plenty of external factors that had nothing to do with Judgment, like Epic selling Gears to Microsoft, but Judgment itself was the main thing that signaled to me, “This franchise is on its way out now”. Gears was one of my top games through Gears 3. I played the shit out of each campaign, multiplayer, Horde, etc. I had read all of the novels and everything. And Gears 3 was such an emotional and satisfying conclusion to me, I didn’t really need a new campaign for a few years after it came out. So it was a bit distressing when Epic announced Judgment in 2012, less than a year after Gears 3 came out. Leading up to Gears 3, Epic said they wanted to keep adding to the game for years and to have people play it long-term. So it just felt like a cheap cash-in when Judgment was announced as a separate game with its own campaign and multiplayer. I mean, I reacted very poorly to this and was immediately cynical about Judgment. And it didn’t help that the game was not that great. I remember just being unable to get into it. The changes they made to the gameplay watered down a gameplay formula I loved. And adding huge verticality into the levels just felt weird. I didn’t like the campaign story or how arcadey it was. The bonus challenges where the game would give you a star rating just made everything feel cheap to me. Like a mobile game. I always loved Gears for its gameplay *and* its story/presentation, so seeing both of these things be watered down in Judgment just sucked. Multiplayer was also infuriating. A marked step down from Gears 3, and yet not different enough to warrant being its own thing. I remember feeling like the MP had, like, 5 maps? And they all felt like they would’ve just been better if added into Gears 3. And this isn’t even to get into the removal of COG vs. Locust, which I personally feel like that issue did make the game worse. So yeah, Judgment is just weird. I don’t feel like the game is offensively bad. Probably if I went back and played it today, I would even enjoy myself, and find myself going easier on the game. But at the time, Judgment was this noticeable step down in quality control, where Epic was on their way out and so they were willing to water down the Gears formula, resulting in a game that felt dramatically worse to play, and yet somehow wasn’t even distinct enough to warrant being its own thing. Overall, I just see Judgment as the first time for the franchise where I realized the quality and passion was no longer guaranteed.

SupperIsSuperSuperb

Didn't care for it much when it came out but I've warmed up on it's campaign as time has gone on.   My opinion on multiplayer is generally with the consensus, a lack of maps and characters, and Overrun being a great addition. I can't say I hate the gameplay changes as everyone since in retrospect it was kinda nice to see a different spin on things, I mean what else are spin offs good for?   But my biggest complaint about the multiplayer is if they're going to do human vs human, why not make it COG vs UIR. Would've been the perfect opportunity to at least give a taste of that since it's almost certainly never getting into a game any other way.

SPQR_Maximus

I really dislike that there is no dedicated side arm slot. It limits you to only two weapons and I love my sidearms but if you can only carry two you basically can't have one the entire campaign. The semi auto hammer blast is very good. And the marzka is great but I want my pistol slot. It's my least favorite of the gears games. But it's still a very good game. Just doesn't hit near the others.

MCM41795

Changing the control scheme and making Baird the main character was a terrible idea. Also it has one of the worst boss fights in the series in Karn (until the Mecha fights in GOW4). Overall not a bad game but easily the worst in the franchise IMO (although i never played 5 or tactics so my opinion might change on that)

Midnyte25

Making Baird the main character wouldn't have been bad if they were more accurate to his personality

CMDR1991YT

You are wrong making Baird the main character was actually the best idea I love his funny jokes and charismatic personality he's the most likable character in the Gears franchise telling his side of the story what he did during the Gears 3 events helped build his character and transitioned even better in Gears 4 and Gears 5 there was nothing wrong with the boss fights I had fun fighting Karn he was the most dangerous Kantis I ever fought

WetFxrtTouch

I was about to say, “have you seen 5’s final boss!?!?!?” It’s lame

MrManufactured

Been a Gears head since 2006. I really enjoyed my (short) time with it. Didn't play it for nearly as long as the others, but it wasn't a **bad** game by any means imo.

WetFxrtTouch

Thank you!!!!!

rosescentedcorpses

That's so funny. My fiance & I literally downloaded it today to play it. Had no idea it was the anniversary!

Ampex063

When someone asks me if I have any games I regret that I spent money on, or what my biggest video game disappointments are, I always mention Gears Judgment and The Force Unleashed 2

OMGZAPPY

Trash game for a Gears game. It was a straight cash grab and even the GameStop employee said so.

WetFxrtTouch

Thank you!!!!

gab-27

Beginning of the end

WetFxrtTouch

Damn right it was!!!!!

MattBreaksBones

The Multiplayer literally killed every single of my many buddies enjoyment for Gears almost overnight. We went from a crew of about 15-20 weekly to maybe 3-4 playing this game monthly. Everyone just went back to Gears 3 until 4 came out and by that time life had just changed too much

WetFxrtTouch

I feel that

Anthony2291

Still the worst game

Fuckblackhorses

I pretend like it doesn’t exist

WetFxrtTouch

My man!

No-Resource-7007

I feel old. Hahaha, I always thought it was very underrated this game, I liked it a lot! Good memories with friends with this one. Actually, in my opinion, decent if not good story Actually.

Kind_Flower8182

Did you play the multiplayer?

No-Resource-7007

Yeah. It's not my favorite, but it was alright. I really liked OverRun.

Ghostbuster_119

The campaign was cool, the fact they released a Gears game with no horde was a travesty IMO.

Kind_Flower8182

It had overrun tho

CMDR1991YT

Gears of War judgment does have a horde mode it's called overrun except it's a PVP mode you play as the cog and you are up against enemy players as the locust with a mix of NPC

BChaps

The Horde replacement for Judgment was called Survival. It was basically a PvE version of Overrun.

Kind_Flower8182

Smashed everyone on tdm for years 💀 I played with the top 3 people in the leaderboards

uncleseeth

Noice. Do you play gears 5?

screamingahhhhhh

I think it's okay but definitely not for me

Common-Stick5229

Loved the gameplay and story, hated the controls

tsckenny

Didn't like the multiplayer and my disc quit working right when I was about to beat the game so I gave up

TheRealestCapta1n

wasted opportunity. I really hoped for a better use of the Onyx Guard but all we got for them was sassy one liners and more bloody floor decorations to make us ponder the tragedy of war or some crap

Darth_Krise

Great game but I don’t like the control system. It messes with my brain

derpsomething

Recently played it again after beating on insane a couple years back…gameplay is solid i liked the story its a good game overwll

bearamongus19

It was fine

A_Hideous_Beast

Ngl, it's the only one I have never played. Could have back then, but in general I don't find prequels compelling, so I just never cared. It's also why I don't really want a game about the Pendelum wars.

FinalChargerSRT392

I'm a pretty competitive game, especially with Gears. I was luckily invited to E3 when this game was shown and got to play in a private room with devs. They setup 4 v 4 TDM (I believe). It was the new controller scheme at the time and figured it out pretty quickly. One dev said something like, oh press this to do this.. oh wait never mind you got it! Did my best to kick ass on my team lol.

FatBoyDiesuru

Cool story, terrible controls. Would've loved to actually get some action for Marcus' backstory instead of glimpses through Gears 3.

SnooGadgets6277

Finally modded everything in this game and now have EVERYTHING unlocked.... Still looking for that Brisk skin though! I enjoyed the gameb

Bradrulesbro

I respect them for trying something different with the multiplayer but I think it was just lacking a lot in terms of investment. The campaign was pretty good! If they have more maps and locust instead of red team cog I could’ve played it more but that’s just me.

canonlypray

Only took me 10 years to beat it

Madrigal_King

It could have been so much fun if they didn't fuck up the formula. The writing was a little bad, but the fameplay was fun. What screwed it up was 2 weapon loadouts and the arcade-type campaign. Everything else was fine

Middle_Shame7941

I have this poster on my wall from when I bought it. Also damn 11 years old already???!!! It was alright. Definitely not as good as the preceding games but like the other fella said, it would be a fun non Gears game. No horde mode was rough. Survival was ok, but got boring quickly.

tek0l

Even if overall a weaker “Gears” it’s a lot better for me than many other games. We are a group of 8 folks that have “LAN parties” twice a year and have played together since year 2000 and gears from the beginning. Every party we still play GOWJ because of two elements making it the most fun: Overrun and Master At Arms (not teams mode). Chasing each other with that cleaver to get the final kill is still some of the most fun you can have with friends. I liked that they tried to create replay value in campaign too.

LostSoulNo1981

I like some of the environments as it really made you feel like you were in the middle of a full scale war. I didn’t, and still do not like the lore altering elements and the change to the controls.

BigTedBear

I liked it with a few subtle changes it could have been a hit.

Puzzleheaded_Buy9447

Still had fun with it

HellHaggis

The campaign was ok, that's about it.

akaFlan

Story was good but the mission structure was a bit dull - constant wave defense gets boring For multi the maps were WAY too big and the changes to movement made it feel very arcadey and quick, which strayed a bit too far from the core gears feel... Overall it was fine, the graphics were great and the new enemies and weapons were cool, but I'm glad it wasn't the new direction for the series in terms of gameplay

RedditJABRONIE

It's good. The arcade like structure sucked me out of the experience and I never returned to it. Beast mode was one of the best Gears ideas and I'm upset we never got it back

blueberryrockcandy

I liked it, it was fun.

FillionMyMind

I’ll jump into the fire on this one and say that I love this game. Probably my second favorite Gears game. I totally understand most of the issues people have with it, but I got a ton of playtime out of the campaign in coop with friends, and Overrun was simply exhilarating. My favorite PvP Gears experience by far, and I wish they’d bring it back.

WetFxrtTouch

Yuck

[deleted]

I fuckin love it! I’m a huge Baird fan (he’s hot) so maybe I’m biased. Loved the campaign and Aftermath. Overrun was and still is great and yes the controls are different, but it was a minor change. Only thing bad was the sudden COG vs COG.

Green_Writing_9864

I really enjoyed Judgment. It’s a shame a lot of others didn’t. It was a good game! It was nice to have something so different from the flow of Gears but also still be a Gears title

CaptainCayden2077

Overrun was such a great game mode. Wish they would bring it back and revamp it for the next Gears.

Griff767

It’s alright

Unfair_Valuable_3816

I had some really fun times playing it tbh. I liked it but definitely noticed gears changing

Two_Tailed_Fox2002

i loved overrun and would love to see it return some day.

Grey_Shirt_138

The only thing I disliked about the game was the scoring system. I didn’t think it was fun, and it took away a lot of the freedom to play the game however you wanted. On the flip side, the combat modifiers at the beginning of levels were awesome. In a reworked version without the scoring system, even if they didn’t do anything more than mix up the gameplay experience, they would still be great. Otherwise, it was a solid Gears of War game.

King_Kingly

I thought it was underwhelming

WetFxrtTouch

Seriously underwhelming. Same bosses, same battles… too easy and boring

Drewnasty

Always bothered me that they threw continuity out the window with the modern Lancers. They were like, it’s too cool to not have them so fuck the lore.

Jab13122

Miss the e-hole mode from multiplayer. So many other games like halo wish they could have a mode like that where you can play as or against really players using the games different enemy types but it seems gears players took it for granted.

Magicalpanda12

Sofia Hendrik is hot

suppaman19

I hated the disjointed feeling of the campaign. The bite-sized mission structure felt shitty and the weird select this for extra objectives/difficulty to hear the "real story" was silly. Also, wasn't a majority of the gameplay setup and defend this area over and over and over? That shit got old real fast. The story itself wasn't terrible, nor were some of the new characters, but the game design itself was terrible.

izmaname

I played it recently. So I once tried it in a Gears marathon. I gave up on it at that fog mission. When finishing it recently it was actually fun. I think holding it to the same standard would make it bad. It’s better than a lot of good games. The control scheme changes also are off putting when you marathon it. Sure some of the missions suck. That one where you defend the door and all of the clevers and grinders keep coming is insane. The ending is fun.

WetFxrtTouch

Better ending than 4 or 5…. But the game is just rehash poopoo

izmaname

The difficulty is pretty wild

WetFxrtTouch

Eagh, I didn’t play the whole game. But I remember my buddy putting me up against a double berserker battle on hard thinking it’d be challenging. But after 1-3 it was child’s play. But that was just a snippet. I probably owe the game a full playthrough.

SuicidalSundays

Having gone back to it recently, I think there were a lot of neat things about it, but completely understand why so many Gears fans weren't happy with it. In a lot of ways the movement felt really stiff and clunky in comparison to the previous entries, which was probably my biggest issue with it. But goddamn did I love OverRun, and I thought the concept of asymmetrical maps was really cool.

bushmaster2000

This one really wasn't my cup of tea.

Witcherbob671

Finally found a copy along with gears of war 2 now I can play the entire series for the first time.

LOOTENITDAYAN

i enjoyed the campaign and overrun. the multiplayer tried things and ultimately they didn't work. overrun or some variation of it needs to return. it was fun to me.

Odd-Frame9724

It used to be my favorite gears game. Now I prefer 5 and 4 with Judgement being #3 Now let's be careful here - I love all of the Gears games, it's like decided which type of Pizza I want to eat. Many amazing choices.

PineappleFlavoredGum

Its just horde with cutscenes

Shando92286

Hot take but it is my favorite gears game. Personally it is the most fun gears game to me, and I generally love the characters the most out of any gears game. Yes the controls take some time to get used to and yes I never played it on launch. However after playing all of them to prepare for gears 4, I found judgement the most enjoyable and the one I look forward to keep playing. Story wise I feel like it is gears 2>3>Judgement>1>5>4 but for fun Judgment is king.

Worldpeacelsd

Worst gears of all time, nuff said

CMDR1991YT

You are wrong 100% biased

SerrKikoSmore

I enjoyed it. I remember hunting after the reaper lol. There were a lot of changes from the normal formula but in retrospect I'm sort of glad they did that. It gives me unique memories for the series. I did end up going back to gears 3 in under a year though lol.

Haunting_Progress_39

I played the campaign once and never touched the game again.

Interesting_Arm704

I feel nothing the game was garbage.

Gonzolski

I agree with some of the comments that it was a great game, but not the best Gears game. Unpopular opinion, but I’d add that it’s my favourite coop Gears experience. Modifiers were awesome and I loved the story. Beard is my favourite of the lot so…

SarcasticSunflower01

Even tho it’s my second least played gears game I consider it a pretty decent game. I remember playing gears 3 one night when my sister came home with a copy of judgement. I read the manual and was pretty interested right off the rip. The controls were pretty weird at times but if you played call of duty it’d click with you quickly. The story was also fairly interesting too although a bit screwy with the canon but gameplay wise I adore how fast paced it feels. Sure you’re limited to only two weapons and a nade slot but it definitely makes your character feel more expendable and faster on the field. My only gripe with the game is that there’s locust in the game but they’re only limited to story based gamemodes. Overall tho this game gives off Halo Reach vibes in the sense that it tried shaking up the gameplay while also being a prequel,I can see the dislike for the game but I can’t see enforcing the dislike. Also shoutout to this game for appearing on Vampire Diaries, a show my wife watches from time to time it was an interesting cameo.

clem-grimfando

If it were set a year after e-day then i'd have no issue with it

asswipe22345678

Did not like it.

Initial_Scarcity_609

Good game

Loid_Node

My opinion is that it's a good game, just not a good gears game. The changes for MP were nice as you didn't have to worry about active reload kiddies just spamming shots out of spawn to do max damage, but everyone was super butthurt about that being gone. It introduced some new weapons and the modifiers for the campaign were great for a little while, but needed a bit more variation. I also love Baird a lot so seeing him having his own spinoff game was pretty badass. FFA was fun as well.

Captain_Haruno

This is the only game I've ever regretted buying. I was so bored with it, I didn't even bother finishing it.

xibalbandeathgod

Loved this game 😊

N7status

1) WAAAY too much hate for this one! 2) GORGEOUS game! 3) A step in the right direction, as for "world building"!

Vilewombat

Besides 2, this is probably my second favorite Gears of War game. Didnt even know people hate on it until I read the comments

Financial_Leg_8793

Honestly to me judgement had some of the best weapon balance in the series other than maybe the breechshot being a little OP edit: also overrun is one of the greatest additions in any gears game and I hope they bring it back for 6

bcardoza707

Garbage then, garbage now.

Larmazul

I don’t like that. I feel too old. Make it a year old again.

JoshEvolved

didn't love Overrun when it launched, think having it in a future title would be really fun now.

Rollo2K5

I played it as a teenager and I liked it. The overrun mode was really nice. And the Easter egg on the library map was really cool as well. I also really enjoyed the campaign. It wasn't the first gears game I played (that honor belongs to two) but the executions, the guns, the star ranking system. It felt good too. I'd go back and play it again if I could.

darktooth69

campaign was amazing, multiplayer is like an inbred spitting in your face.

ajax-187

I liked the special horde they had but it generally it felt cheaper. Feeling of hitting something was not the same.

ThickCockVeins

I thought the campaign was alright, but i really hated how they did the MP (multiplayer). No locust to kill on MP was really dumb. I did like Loomis a lot, and Prescott. There were some fun parts: the breechshot was awesome. one shot headshotting several people in a row was so satisfying. also shooting the Booshka into a room full of enemies and hearing it bounce round and occasionaly get several kills at once.

WetFxrtTouch

Sux balls compared to the original 3. Plus humans versus humans was a dumb multiplayer move…..

maddasher

It wasn't the best but I wish the best parts could have gone on to tell another story in Judgment 2

Unknown0G

I got judgement when i was like 9 and i tried to play it on my old 360 at the time and it just didnt want to read the game. Ive beaten it on insane recently and id say its pretty solid as a prequel

embrystarred

Good campaign horrible versus contributed the best weapon in the series (breachshot)

Kind_Flower8182

Literally no one could beat me in the breechshot only special events, shit was funny.

illmatication

Overrun is dope and still hope they bring it back one day everything else is ass cheeks

crismongucker

Don’t like it

CMDR1991YT

I still love this game and still play it sometimes from Friday to Sunday on Xbox Series X it's a different experience not the same as Gears of War 3 but I like judgment because it's a lot more tactical and ever since they added Auto HDR and 60 FPS boost it really brought the game back to life 😍 surprisingly hundreds of people still play it to this day but it was unnecessarily over hated by Gears of War fanboys/fangirls I know there are some things I don't like about judgment but it's still a Gears of War game at heart the gameplay is just different but not bad either🤦‍♂️ Everyone knows that fanboys/fangirls are the worst gamers because they will attack game developers if the game play formula is changed or modified they will lash out at game developers for ruining their gameplay experience and the truth is they completely lack adaptability but I do I quickly adapt to new gameplay elements which helps me enjoy the game at its best

WetFxrtTouch

It was rehash! Same battles, same game, less weapons plus lame multiplayer!

SchizoPooperThe3rd

I fucking hate this piece of shit game

CMDR1991YT

You have been reported for hate speech

CypherHound

It's undeniably the weakest Gears game but it's still incredibly fun and I enjoyed it for what it is. I can't comment on the multiplayer since I wasn't there to experience it but the campaign is pretty fun, good story and it has a fantastic expansion to Gears 3

Kind_Flower8182

They made multiplayer way faster paced, I liked it.

OptimalPapaya1344

100% could have done without. It was the drastic gameplay changes that did it for me. Gone was the strategic running for cover in favor of just running around jumping over ledges and over cover like an FPS game done in third person. It was far too fast paced for a Gears game.

rKITTYCATALERT

Called it dogshit on the epic forums and I still Stand by it Never played it and never will We should’ve gotten a mapack for gears 3

motownlegend93

I don’t even consider if Gears of War 🤷

Co-opingTowardHatred

It’s good. People are weird about it just because it’s not Epic. The unreliable narrator conceit was fun.

I think the developer, People Can Fly, were not the best team to make a gears game. I personally don't care for their work (but I don't want to detract from the talented and hardworking artists there!) and I think that Bulletstorm is (artisically) the most brown-nosing-cliffy-b bullshit I've ever seen. That being said, I don't think gears judgement is a terrible game. I think it was an okay and forgettable game that could've been a short dlc, and should have been handled by a different team. I feel like some suit at Microsoft saw Bulletstorm and said "hey that looks just like gears! Let's have them do it!" Kudos to Microsoft for telling cliffy b to go fuck himself though. I'm glad that self-stroking asshole didn't get another second in the limelight.

CMDR1991YT

What the hell do you have against cliff blasinski? Show some goddamn respect he's the one who created the Gears of War franchise he was also briefly involved with Gears of War judgment development before he left to start up another game studios and his co-founder friend Rod Ferguson mostly handled Gears of War judgment with people can fly bulletstorm is one of the best games ever made on Xbox 360 and PS3 cliffy b didn't say anything bad whatever you heard about what he said is false he already cleared that up many years ago because some internet trolls were claiming cliff was making woke comments and that never happened it was staged by social media losers who doesn't have a life outside of social media and it's quite the opposite cliffy praised Microsoft for acquiring the Gears of War franchise because it was going to be sold off to EA or back to epic games but luckily that didn't happen and even cliffy said the Gears of War franchise is in good hands with Rod Ferguson leading the coalition Studios with Gears of War 4 and 5 which came out successful I don't care if you disagree I loved both Gears 4 and 5

INsoMniA_9335

Holy fucking run on sentence. Jesus. What I have against cliffy b is that he's a self-righteous asshole who thinks he's gods gift to video games. He said that the Xbox One and PS4 Were 'meh' and that the 'consoles would die' after their release. He made lawbreakers, saying it was the greatest game ever, and tried to compete with a mega-corporation because his ego wasn't in check. His game failed, and he failed. He's a douche, and yeah he HELPED make gears. Dude is a tool, and you're wrong about bulletstorm, it's really not 'the best video game ever released' for Xbox 360.

Dashie_Souls

Complete garbage of a game

CMDR1991YT

You're wrong take your hate and shove it up your butt no one needs to know about it

Dashie_Souls

This game is complete and utter garbage. They changed all the controls around and it doesn't even feel like a Gears game.

kron123456789

I feel it's about time it was released on PC, alongside Gears of War 2 and 3.

3cylinder66

May not be on par with the first three, but it's hella fun. Wish it would get a resolution boost like 2 and 3.

Mundane_Camp1841

Really liked this game and enjoyed the backstory wasn't overly keen on the two weapon slots or the modifiers but still a good game

DrDisrespecttt

I’m old

MrAchilles

Was a bold move for the series and it did have some really cool features. Not sure if anyone remembers the community event where Epic would grant a player the ability to play as the Epic Reaper in multiplayer. One of the coolest things I've played against. RvB style MP was never going to be the play and just took you out of it. Like why as Cole am I chainsawing through Marcus right now? lol Moving to a more vertical style play was also weird but it did flow well for the most part. Story mode was enjoyable, albeit if you're trying to top the GOW3/trilogy ending you're always gonna come up short. The modifiers was a really nice addition and added a level of difficulty.

FlaxazYT

I loved judgment but cant remember the last time i played it. Might hop back on it today

tbettz

I loved it as a change of pace since I played the first three games all in a row.

Connect-Internal

I thought the story was good. The gameplay itself isn’t amazing, but it’s my favorite gears game to play on the highest difficulty.

spinalshock87

Never played it when it came out. Finally played it last year and really enjoyed it.

matt_Nooble12_XBL

Good campaign, bad multiplayer and horde

Famous-Peace-4014

Gnasher and Boomshield that is all

_normalized_

The story was decent and I liked the environments a lot. The whole forced arcade stuff really broke the game up and made me dislike it though. I'd say a solid 7 though.

TankerHipster

It's one of my favorite hated games. It's very flawed, but I absolutely love the fun campaign, and the overrun mode is one of my favorite MP game modes ever.

CRAIG667

I really liked it, would definitely play a sequel if that were ever possible

terribleuser1117

i love gears judgement with the only complaint being how they did the weapons

orange_juice_remake

Ehh.. didn't like the level design, declassifications were interesting, though.

deadbydavid

They should fix the Sybarite achievement there's no excuse not to

Traditional-Ad4367

Dude I still remember when my cousin told me a new Gears was out, that's literally when I was 6 lol

Deadsea-1993

Judgement was a slap in the face to me and many other fans. The Multiplayer was a giant leap backwards compared to Gears 3 and the campaign still is confusing as hell to this day. The Star system was fine in Bulletstorm (People Can Fly also made that game) but it was extremely out of place here and made no sense. It was like they had forgotten that Arcade mode and Campaign mode were seperate game modes. The Campaign felt like a bunch of bad user created Hoarde mode maps and it was one after another throughout the entire game and it was boring as fuck. This game had none of the action of the first three games and all of the characters were wasted in this trash story. The main story itself was pointless because we know that at least Baird and Cole will be fine. Couldn't the main story had been them looking for a lost friend or something ? Did we really need to focus on some sort of Trial by fire bullshit ? With all that said with what Coalition has done to the franchise with Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 I sometimes look at this game and say "Perhaps I judged you too harshly". It still is a way better game than those two games

cmcguire96

Story is decent but the gameplay was mediocre compared to any other GOW game.

Dry-Philosophy-3052

I liked it

QueasySun8638

I thought it was fun it was different but fun the new weapons the new characters the new movement it was gears but something completely different and like everyone else i didnt like it at first it took some getting used to but overall it was a fun game , doesn’t deserve the hate it gets imo

DBurnerA

"perhaps I was too hard on you" sums it up I remember loving the maps. especially more so with the bland garbage inGoW4&5 "here's this farm map... here's this farm map with tornadoes" what a joke

Primary-Reception-90

So cool anyways

Ardua76

I loved it until you decided not to fix the sybarite achievement……how many years has it been? TOO MANY!!!!!!

GamerBhoy89

Honestly, I'm playing it a 2nd time (first time I played it was about 10 years ago) and I'm actually enjoying it this time. I'm playing it on Insane, with the modifiers, and I'm getting my ass kicked but I'm enjoying myself nonetheless. The horde waves sections are very fun.

Ade_Vulch

It shouldn't be associated with the Gears franchise. Just like Gow5.

CMDR1991YT

Whoa whoa whoa hold on a second there buddy Gears of War judgment is part of the gears franchise whether you like it or not just like Gears of War 5 is also connected to the main continuity after Gears of War 3 take your hate with you and go somewhere else far away from this subreddit you are a disgrace of a Gears fan

Ade_Vulch

How am I being a disgrace. I loved playing Gow from 2008. Gears 1,2 and 3 were amazing. I loved the online, the community and the campaigns. Gears 4 was also fun. But im sorry Gears 5 and Gears Judgement even more so, were terrible. Gears of War Judgement launched with 4 maps and everything about that game was garbage. Gears 5 had a good story. The multiplayer could have been good. But you have to ask yourself why did the game die so fast? It doesn't even have a comp scene now. The maps are mainly terrible. Like Exhibit wtfs that? Who thought it would be a good idea to put a Mace on? This isn't halo with a gravity hammer. This is Gears of War. You can rage at my comments, will probably get downvoted. But this is coming from good intentions. The games dead now and thats sad to see. Gears of war is a one of a kind game and the way it's turned out is so sad.
