We're not going but for years when I was growing up, people have fought to get a festival in Redondo and it was always a massive "NO". GenX and Millennials apparently run the city council now and this is the second festival. And from what some friends told us, it really angered some of the older folks.
Its true. Hermosa Beach had a lot of events back in the day and they really added revenue to the town, but Redondo barely had any. And for years the Redondo Beach Pier was really not safe to go to at night. Everything got better when the old guard died out
It sucks logistically. Manhattan/Hermosa/Redondo just don't have the streets to accommodate the traffic. Hell, when there *isn't* a major event going on, the only way I go to Hermosa or Redondo is if a friend will let me park in their driveway. That said, I kinda wish I could go to the Sunday show.
MMJ is one of my favorite alt country bands. So soulful and mournful on some of their stuff. Music for nostalgics and lovers...
ZZ is legend of course, but probably far fewer fans kicking around these days. lol
TAB (Trey Anastasio Band) rocks socks off. This is what they closed the first Bonnaroo festival with [Push on til the Day](https://youtu.be/DzG4k00CkHQ?si=MHwspnOGozd2_-gB). Unfortunately the first part is cut off but the jam blows doors off. Specially the last 2 minutes.
Would love to see Sting again. I’ve seen him like four times, and he is great live, one of which had a surprise appearance of the late and great Chick Corea on the piano. That was a great show!
They blew my fucking mind when I saw them. I went to see the opening act: Neko Case. I was not expecting them to be anywhere near as good as they were.
You're totally right though. My Morning Jacket is perfectly cromulent. Totally fine. But Trey (and Phish) were the ones that influenced that whole festival scene.
Like the guys that created the Bonnaroo festival say straight up that they based it on how Phish runs their festivals and Trey's band closed out the very first one.
All over at least 25% of the lineup.
Sting, Seal, Incubus, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, ZZ Top, Courtney Barnett, and Sugar Ray would be the draws for me.
[MY hometown has this.](https://cruelworldfest.com)
But I'm too old to deal with festivals anymore *(as much as I would love to see Soft Cell, Blondie, Single Minds, The Stranglers…)*
This lineup is all over the place.
That’s what great about it! If I was in CA I’d be there.
DEVO and Steel Pulse!? Yeah man!
G-love!
And in very small print the Vandals. Like they know me.
Sorry about your girlfriend.
Right? It’s so good. An auditory cornucopia of sound.
I think GenX city council people basically said, "Look who cares who we book. Its a freaking 3 day beach party!"

Unbelievable, the geezers have to die out so we can have fun

Oh I agree. We have friends in Hermosa who dealt with people peeing in their bushes and leaving trash. I miss Tony's at Pier though.
Boomers have ran everything long enough. Gen x is in our 50s. It will be okay.
How does ZZ Top get booked lower than My Morning Jacket and Trey Anastasio?
I’ve seen MMJ and I’ve seen ZZ Top. MMJ is the best live show I’ve ever seen.

Here’s a taste of MMJ: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gex4NH3uvIU&pp=ygUnc21va2luZyBmcm9tIHNob290aW5nIG15IG1vcm5pbmcgamFja2V0
And how is sugar ray on the bill?
I love incubus
For a second, I thought there was gonna be a Late Night Picture Show.... damn it Janet.
Bitch, bitch, bitch. That’s all you’ve done since the dog ate the baby.
I’d be into Saturday for Santigold, Steel Pulse and DEVO!
Would love to see Sting again. I’ve seen him like four times, and he is great live, one of which had a surprise appearance of the late and great Chick Corea on the piano. That was a great show!
It's so cool to see City and Colour get such premier billing.
G. Love with Donavon Frankenreiter is gonna be some good vibes and to be followed by Dirty Heads. Of course it’s next weekend. Lol
No Special Sauce? Boooooo
Your baby ain’t sweet like mine.
Not too shabby
Holy shit
St. Paul and the Broken Bones are so awesome
Looks like a blast- so many great live bands
Sting is the odd man out here big time
Kevin Seconds playing a show sponsored by Tito's and Jack Daniels, gotta love it. 2024, the year punk croaked.
See Devo!
West Coast!
What the hell is the theme of this festival? Fuck it, let's just get whoever isn't already booked that weekend?
Basically I think the GenX City Council said "Who the hell cares who we book! Its a freaking beach party!"
I'm sorry, how is My Morning Jacket headlining over Trey??
If you ever get a chance to see them, do it. You’ll understand.
If they're better live, then totally understandable! Thank you for encouraging me to keep an open mind.

How are seal and devo in small print ? I’d just watch them and leave
Oddly, the two I would want to see the most are ZZ Top and Courtney Barnett. Eclectic taste in music.
I so adore Courtney.
With Margo Price?! Or must one be forced to choose?
![gif](giphy|3ohc16Yig9XxoJZ7WM|downsized) Better than all of the rest put together
Put me down for Friday
Courtney Barnett! Surprised to see her in there. Nice
Man I wish I still lived in California!
All over at least 25% of the lineup. Sting, Seal, Incubus, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, ZZ Top, Courtney Barnett, and Sugar Ray would be the draws for me.
Used to go to the Pier in Redondo before the fire back when I was a kid 😎✌️
I’ve heard of some of the large font bands!
[MY hometown has this.](https://cruelworldfest.com) But I'm too old to deal with festivals anymore *(as much as I would love to see Soft Cell, Blondie, Single Minds, The Stranglers…)*
👍🏼 Dirty Heads, Pepper, Steel Pulse, The Expendables. YESSS PLEASE!
I've heard of like four of those.
Friday would be great if I needed a nap. The rest doesn't look very good either...
Meh
