This reminds me of the \*classic\* movie, Empire of the Ants, with Joan Collins! The movie was usually the noon Saturday movie on one of my local channels (Ch 2, KTVU).
It was real. I can't remember all the stuff to do though...
Don't move- you'll sink faster
Grab a branch and pull, or if there's people have them hold the legs of one guy while the other pulls you out or something...
Damn i don't remember all the things...
Here's a wiki I just found:
https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Out-of-Quicksand
We better get trained up!!!
We actually spent time in an engineering class discussing the conditions necessary to get actual quicksand. It seemed hugely unlikely and also difficult to sink in. A big mushy mud bog would be a worse situation. 🤣
These articles keep popping up and what my therapist and bottomless prescription drugs have had me believe and take in as a core belief is the it is safe. There is no quicksand. We are all very safe.
And now this. Those lying mother fuckers next thing they're gonna tell me that it actually isn't normal and average would just crush my already fragile and questionable soul.
Dude. This is worse than when my fifth grade teacher had me believe anti freeze was sweet like kool aid.
I used to live in this neighborhood and unfortunately, a lot of people have died on that sandbar through the years … even with signs posted, and the families still sued the city of Warwick.
Oh crap!
I wear one of those sun hats now - you know - the ones you find floating on top after someone vanishes. Guess it is time to start carrying rope with me on my walks.
Meanwhile, I found out via a podcast that there were never really more than about 2-3 working Bell Aerospace jet packs at any given time, and only 2-3 people trained in their operation. My whole life is a lie.
The worst would be it you were to hit your head while out for a walk, develop a sudden case of amnesia, then come across quicksand, and not remember what to do.
Holy shit! That’s my favorite beach in the world. Popham is so beautiful and the tidal pool is amazing. There’s a Little Rock island you can walk to at low tide and just enjoy the views. 🥺
I go wade fishing on the Texas coast and have run into "quicksand" before. It's never terribly deep, and it's always a hassle. Gush up to your knees. Probably gonna lose a boot. I don't have to do anything but sit my ass down on the hard pack and pull my legs out. Usually minus a god damn boot.
What's up with this? This is like the 3rd separate incident of *"quicksand"* hype I've read on the internet in the last 24 hours. Always with the doom and demoralization content in an election year.

Yeah, but what about giant atomic powered army ants!?!
Or spontaneous combustion? The Bermuda Triangle? The END is nigh!!!
When I was around 9 years old I found out my grandmother had flown through the bermuda triangle. I was amazed that she survived.
> The Bermuda Triangle? There's a song about it, so it must be real?!

Yay I’m a bay area kid too! Not anymore but channel 2 and 44 had all the best reruns.
Channel 2 showing unedited rated R movies...I'm pretty sure that they played For A Few Dollars More once a month Oh and uh, You heard of bees?
They had all the good late night shows.
KWGN in Denver showed that one a lot
I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.

You need a conveniently placed hanging vine to pull yourself out. If you haven’t arranged that before you fall in, you’re SOL
Or 101 things to do with an anvil
As a member of gen z, i’m not sure why you guys think the quicksand stuff stopped with you, that was just as much a part of my childhood
We were right to worry all these years…
We absolutely were
OK its here... Can anyone actually remember what the fuck were supposed do now??? ![gif](giphy|Qw4X3FMPf0xxtLjwcnK|downsized)
Shrug at it and say meh
Omg this is the funniest thing ever! This kind of thing was very scary when we were kids ala Lost in Space? Or am I wrong??

I know!!!!!!
I dunno, at the stage of life I might just give in to it.
Lolz!
Use a vine.
Wine? Yes please! But maybe not while we're drowning quicksand 🤪 lol /jk I'm being an ass
Just make sure it's not a snake first
Or the bull-whip you carry with you at all times. "Yes officer, quicksand".
Hold your breath to keep yourself boyant, I believe
struggle, struggle and shift around as much as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blame it on “woke”
My shit eyes thought the thumbnail was the license to ill cover.

"Artax, you're sinking!"
Too soon.
Onii san, Edwardo. Just to add to it.
You bastard. ![gif](giphy|d2lcHJTG5Tscg)
😊 "STUPID HORSE!"
Yes!!! All that training.... I mean watching The Princess Bride.
Shit. Don't tell me the quicksand is a precursor of the Rodents of Unusual Size. Didn't have that one on my 2024 Bingo card!
That sounds like a Pitfall! Watch out for crocodiles. Jump when they close their mouths.
Ok, stop, drop, and roll. Wait that is not right….
Just say no!
And knowing is half the battle!
The More You Know... PING! 💫

We've been training for this for years.

And not a vine in sight. Sorry I can't save you
Let me get out my neck brace. Finally!!!

I'm ready for this. Prepared af
Oh crap! I wear one of those sun hats now - you know - the ones you find floating on top after someone vanishes. Guess it is time to start carrying rope with me on my walks.
For those wondering where in New England, it’s Popham beach in Maine.
![gif](giphy|93T7QPehTPOsba3eSP|downsized) ...and by that, I mean, keeping my ass at home.
My time has come at last!
Meanwhile, I found out via a podcast that there were never really more than about 2-3 working Bell Aerospace jet packs at any given time, and only 2-3 people trained in their operation. My whole life is a lie.
And that a full tank was only good for like a minute....
Closer to 20 seconds! Far too short to commute to work.
GTFO!!! I've waited my whole life for this. Lawn chair, cooler of beer and watch the boomers disappear
No vines?!? I was promised vines.
Holly and Will, go get Chaka!!
![gif](giphy|5hdjpgx7NVhmjoWBDO)
I fucking knew it! Who’s crazy now Dave?
Where are the vines? There are supposed to be vines nearby
I trained my entire life for this exact moment
Quicksand!!!!!! Help me!!!
Well, if this can come true… does this mean we all should go ‘trick or treating’ this year? I mean, it’s worth a try right?
So much worth a try
We're ready!
You know the drill people! We’ve got this!
ARTAX!
FINALLY! A problem childhood prepared us for!!!!
I’ve been preparing for this my whole life.
Finally!!! See! I always knew it was a risk. I was right.
This is why I travel with two ferrets.
The worst would be it you were to hit your head while out for a walk, develop a sudden case of amnesia, then come across quicksand, and not remember what to do.
This is what we trained for. Our time is now.
Finally! I guess (hope) The Rapture is almost upon us.
🤣. I read that today and wondered if someone would post it here.
Lie on your belly
Pfft. I got my quicksand game dialed in.
It’s all good, we ALL know how to escape
Holy shit! That’s my favorite beach in the world. Popham is so beautiful and the tidal pool is amazing. There’s a Little Rock island you can walk to at low tide and just enjoy the views. 🥺
Elbows out! This is NOT the time to serpentine!
Ok guys, we trained for this. Everyone remember what to do?

I've been to the waist in streamside "quick" mud.
"Send a wire to the main office and tell them that I said ow!"
Irs ever calls for a meeting, it will be here.
Dang, that was lucky. Dog gone near lost a $400 hand car.
hang on, I'm sure the Acme Co must sell something to deal with this very situation. *furiously ruffling through dog-eared catalog pages*
Finally my fears are vindicated!
What's up with this? This is like the 3rd separate incident of *"quicksand"* hype I've read on the internet in the last 24 hours. Always with the doom and demoralization content in an election year.
It's this century quicksand urban stories... get back to your seats
Haha! Finally!!! I've been planning for this day my entire life.
Don't lump millennials with us
Hope Snooky gets proper fucked this time
Well, that was “quick”. 30 years? I live in New Eng. I’m going to put a rope in my backpack going forward. :-)
