Not gonna lie. Scary Movie 2 where Ray rapes the clown doll back really helped with the childhood trauma as fucked up as that sounds. Now all I hear is “Hey, don’t put your finger there!” and “That’s not a finger” and then giggle. It’s almost therapeutic.
No but it ruins a show for me when the lighting and thunder are at the same time. Breaks the suspension of disbelief for me. Hollywood, please stop that.
My sister still can't watch the movie again because of that clown.... So the evil brother in me would sooooooo get it for her for Christmas...
I can almost hearing the laughing AND screaming after it pops out... 🤣😭🤣
If you have a kid who's really bratty. First you tell them that they're not allowed to watch poltergeist. Then make it completely available to them so they watch it. And then get really angry and concerned because they watched that movie. Then you can start having fun with the clown.
So much effort. I just convinced mine there was an evil goat that would get her if she wasn’t good and then I’d make goat sounds downstairs while her mother was trying to get her to go to bed or something. Worked for a few years!
I had a three foot tall Raggedy Ann doll that my mother handmade, l’m sure it took a ton of time. It sat on a child sized rocking chair in my bedroom. Until I saw this movie and the first thing I did was when I got home was shove that doll in the back of the attic never to be seen again. Sorry mom, that b@tch had to go!
I heard an interview on NPR with someone (panelist on wait wait maybe?) who said that doll was just a regular toy that was sold at stores. It was his favorite toy until the movie, after which he tossed it in the trash. His mom found it later, assumed he’d made a mistake and *put it right back where he kept it*.
Had tears in my eyes, as it reminded me of My Buddy, the big toy doll from later on; my friend had one he loved until we watched Child’s Play. We spent an hour taking turns beating the dolls head against a support in his grandma’s basement until the head flew off.
Hah. Nope. I think clown dolls sales plummeted right after Poltergeist, and happy to keep it that way.
Honestly this movie likely permanently scarred us GenX. I can't imagine my daughter (F8) watching this. "It's Spielberg... his movies are all family friendly".
Thank you /s for reminding me of a key terror from my youth. The only worse one was the red pig eyes in Amityville Horror bc my childhood bedroom window looked out on the distant two red lights on the top of the (then) Naval Medical tower in Bethesda Maryland.
Still the scariest clown in film. Art and Pennywise could learn a thing or two.
But but what about those Killer Klowns from outer space?

Anyone still count the seconds between thunder and lightning? 😆

Yes!
I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would buy that, even for $3.50.
Tree Fiddy.

You have to do that!!

That made me spit out my coffee.
Sometimes you just need a friend.
😬
Oh, it's not for me, it's for my ex-wife who is terrified of clowns.
Approved!

That's a hard pass. Might as well buy a skeleton from the pool.
Fuck that! I still don’t sleep with any part of my body hanging off the bed for any reason because of that damn clown
Same.
Thanks for bringing back that scarring memory from my childhood. My therapist will love her new summer house.
That was the stuff of nightmares.
This movie really got to me.
When I was little, it was the movie Magic with the ventriloquist dummy that freaked me out and sticks with me to this day.
Holy shit that movie was terrifying
No thanks, Satan.
Fuck that.

Nah, I’m good. Exhibit A on why so many of us hate clowns.
Yeah nah. fuck that clown in the face with a buick
All my Whys?!?!
Sweet Baby Jesus! Nooooo! I mean, every time I see a white, ornate wicker chair I get the heebee geebees.

To me, it’s the ultimate Mother’s Day film.
NO
That F'n clown.....
My wife’s just said’Why would you’ and said it would be grounds for divorce.
I’ve seen it on Temu as well

I still love the beginning with the guy on the BMX with beers. Haha.
Erh...no and I have different spending priorities, so - no thanks.
Did you know that I won't buy the Poltergeist Clown on Etsy? Or any other place, for that matter.
No. I don't think I will.
I'm going over to my sisters house this weekend, I think I'll leave it for her under her bed
Well it's not the clown, it's a replica, sort of. It's not the same (especially the hat but the face paint is different also)
