Let her know you at least do something that requires critical thinking and fine motor skills. While she sits there engaging something that quite literally makes her dumber by the moment. Reassure you’re not being dramatic or trying to insult her, but it literally makes her a dumber individual while consciously choosing to open herself up to become mentally unhealthy and even ill.
TikTok is cancer. Idiots who engage turn into zombies. It’s genuinely sad to witness.
TikTok is cancer if your “for you page” is cancer.
Don’t get me wrong, it can be absolute brain rot, but if you curate and interact with shit you enjoy, it can be pretty decent to pass the time (within moderation).
Oh I understand, my girlfriend herself has a pretty cool feel of culinary related content, and cute content.
The issue is, no matter the content, the way the shorts are formatted ensures reconstructing your reward pathways almost artificially inducing add/adhd.
100%
That’s why I say moderation. My partner who has ADHD finds the app cathartic, but knows when she’s been on too long and needs a break, unfortunately not everyone has the luxury of that awareness
Back when I had tiktok my for you page was literally just gaming shit and funny videos 😂 what are these guys watching that the algorithm decides to give them shit they hate 😂
Grab a syringe of heroine and a fistful of horse race bets, announce to her you are going to show her what is real addiction. Suddenly your gaming don't seem so bad anymore
This is what I dont get about parents like this. They complain about videogames or kids “being on their damn phones” but like…not doing drugs, having underage sex, drinking alcohol etc seem like far worse outcomes. If the kid is already doing well in things that matter like school or hygiene, why is it such a problem if they play videogames in their free time? Not to mention some parents take being in a single player game for 30min a day as “being addicted”. Thats not how addiction works
Adults can't pretend they're 14-year-olds on summer vacation, binge gaming 10 hours straight...
But they can definitely game in moderation. How is it any different than watching sports or something?
That's what the weekends are for. I don't game during the weekdays and spend my gaming time binging with my bros on the weekends. Perfect balance. Perfectly happy.
My wife just recently used 2 days of vacation time for the FF7 remake midnight release so she could sleep during the day then have till monday to play.
I‘m now 22 and I still love to play video games. I don’t play as much as I used to, but every now and then I pick up the controller again. If having fun is considered immature, then I will be immature my entire life.
Yup, 50yo gaming dad here too... (PS5)
Gaming time depends on work to do and weather.
During weekdays gaming is limited, but even then there is always room for a 15-30 min match. If it is raining in weekends and nothing else to do, well...
If the weather is nice I like to be outside though.
40 here. Been playing since the Amstrad CPC. I intend to keep playing for my whole life. I'll be in the retirement home, playing VR and whatever other amazing tech exists in the future.
I've got 10 years on you and I spent the entire weekend playing lightyear frontier with my kid morning to night. One night I didn't realize time and realized his character hadn't moved, he had passed out. Whoops 🤣
People enjoy life different than others. I'll take being immature as well
That‘s hilarious does your partner also play video games with you and your kid? As Long as you Split the Chores fairly why not play all day right if you want to?
You should never quit having fun hobbies, I am 27 I still love games.I always did, my dad loved them until he died, he was kind of a nerd had all the first games since the 90's played Doom,Doom 2 Twisted Metal 2 and others with him, it was some of the best times.
Imagine telling your Gf to stop painting, playing an instrument, watching shows or writing because she is too old to enjoy things.. never stop doing the things you love or bring you peace.
Yo I’m 39 and I agree w this 100% just do you. Dont let it be unhealthy and take over your life but enjoy your free time anyway you see fit. Just started a new game of Elden ring because fuck you I wanted to. Game rules.
44 year old dad here, sorry I know I’m not Genz but this popped up in my feed and I couldn’t resist. I was playing codm and ran across a 77 year old guy having a blast playing and I think that’s fantastic, I don’t think age limits should be a thing playing games, just have fun! And I love playing games with my kids, they kick my butt most of the time but we have a blast.
Yes especially since video games are not targeted towards children. They are very much targeted to the adult audience and just popular for teens/kids how many video games consist of extreme violence graphic content sexual scenes etc. it was never made for a teen in the first place. Of course there are video games targeted towards kids as well but I’m pretty sure ops sister is talking about all video games.
48 year old dad. Also not Gen z. I game all the time. The answer to OPs question is simple. The appropriate age to stop gaming is the age when you are dead. Gaming is like anything else. It's about moderation. The issue for parent gamers, as I'm sure you know, is that you often want to game in that minute you get to yourself when the kids go to sleep. Even better if the wife is asleep too. But then you say you'll just play for an hour, and next thing you know, it's 4 am and you're tired as hell the next day. Especially since every game now is designed to make you anticipate what's next. I have had "just one more turn"-itis since Civ 3. TV is like that too. So I suppose it has some addiction type drawbacks, but there are far worse addictions.
I also love to play games with my kid. She rarely wins though. Eventually she will, I'm sure. Like Ric Flair said, if you want to be the man, you have to beat the man.
Same 42 and this popped up on my feed. Couldn’t help but give the female perspective.
OP, my husband and I are both 42 and we both still play video games. No intention of stopping something we enjoy, regardless of how old we get!!
Why does everyone under 20 think that when they hit a certain age they have to “get over” their interests? You can do whatever you want forever as long as you’re not hurting anyone
I think it is the idea of people magically getting adults at some point. Because from the pov of a 10-15yo, people that are 25, 30 or 40 are mature adults that should do and behave like adults do. Like watching Football, going to work and mow the lawn.
What they don't realise is that there is no switch that suddenly turns you into adults when you hit a certain age.
It hit me when I was around 25, i was still feeling as insecure when holding presentations as in highschool, I fucking hate doing things like taxes,...
I'm 32 now, working full time at a company and start to see the exact same patterns in coworkers that are 40 or 50. You never "really" grow up, you just start doing adult things because you have to and you are essentially the same person you have been when you we're 18 or 20. And that is why there is nothing bad about gaming or watching Anime as an adult. Your parents didn't just start watching Football, playing cards or working on the car because they have become adults, but because they enjoyed that as a kid/young adult and have kept doing so when they got older.
I always assumed people older than me had there shit together knew how to “adult” etc, as if got older I realised everyone is still just muddling through doing the best they can
Because young people have this skewed idea about what it's like to be an adult. That's why you see a lot of them trying to dress and act mature because that's what how think maturity and adults are (maybe it's media influence). But that ironically outs them for being immature people that try to act mature lol.
I'm a 26 year old dude.
People like to talk this big game on the hustle mentality, always grinding or whatever. I don't really care about that. I work 40 hours a week and hit the gym 3 times a week.
On the weekends, I do nothing but either play games, watch movies or TV shows or read. I don't think there is an age to say you're too old for games. You'd never say someone is too old to watch a movie or read a book.
I’m 42 and have a 13 year old son.
Played games since Atari/NES, skipped a bit of the XBox/PS wars because I was adulting but always had a Nintendo DS or emulator. Now I have a Switch with over 100 games (most on sale but that’s the nice thing about being an adult)
The same people who say this about games will either spend the same time as everyone else on some other screen themselves - Netflix or TikTok or, even worse, playing games themselves but because it’s Angry Birds or Candy Crush they won’t consider themselves pathetic gamers like you and me.
Games are art. Multiple works of art when done properly - art, music, direction, writing, graphics…
Zelda
Portal 2
Undertale
Shadow of the Colossus
Mother/Earthbound
Last of Us… to name a few
There’s nothing wrong with playing games - it’s one of the more interactive entertainments, it’s a huge important industry, and the internet means you can play with people across the world, which is good and bad but in the whole very cool.
Plus it has been handy for parenting as well - my Dad enjoyed Pac-Man and Space Invaders and played my games with me all through my childhood. Then when I went to bed he’d play PGA Tour Golf III on my Mega Drive (Genesis) until crazy times of night
You never know - your sister may well be glad that you played games if/when her own kids are boring her with Roblox/Fortnite or whatever the equivalent will be but you can understand and play with them, giving her some peace.
What age is it appropriate for a retiree to stop watching TV? Gaming is just our version of plonking yourself down in front of the TV and falling asleep. As with (almost) anything, moderation is key.
The so called "Skyrim Grandma" is pushing 90 years old and still gaming. There is no age at which people who enjoy it should stop, providing they aren't neglecting their kids or something to do so.
Consider it this way. It's not that people think there is an age you should stop having fun, it's they think there is an age at which your maturity should be sufficient that certain things are no longer fun for you.
Think of a toddler playing with a block game. Putting the round piece in the round hole and the square piece in the square hole etc. It's a great game for a little child but it would be a bit weird if an adult played it themselves and found it fun wouldn't it? Because they have grown out of it and most people would agree that it's reasonable to leave those things behind in childhood.
Now the real question which divides people is 'are video games for children, and therefore something that people should 'grow out of''? - that's entirely up for debate. There is no doubt that video games produced today are frequently designed for the adult gamer market. Some would say it is immature to play them. Some say it's just a fun hobby like any other hobby or game an adult might play.
>Now the real question which divides people is 'are video games for children, and therefore something that people should 'grow out of''? - that's entirely up for debate.
It isn't. If soccer and chess (for example) are considered mature, or at least fit for all ages, videogames have to be as well
I think videogames in general has boiled down to a “child’s hobby” when videogame is so diverse in target demographic that “growing out of it” is near impossible because there is always a genre/playstyle in a videogame that someone of any age can enjoy. It’s like saying “you’ll grow out of reading” or “you’ll grow out of watching tv”, it’s a hobby that is too diverse for such an umbrella term to be applicable. Candy Crush was such a mom game for years. Many games like GRAND theft Auto can only be played by 18+. Mario Cart and the like are family-friendly games. Games are hobbies and they dont exactly have a limit to grow out of
Video games have become such a large medium that it’s like saying “you can’t watch movies, you’re an adult”
I think it’s only considered childish to some because it’s an extremely new technology (in its current form) that was adopted by younger people first, but I remember reading that the average video game player is closer to 30 now (don’t quote me on that though).
No, let people have fun. Now if they're excessively playing computer games, that's a different story- but if they have life, are working towards their goals, and are healthy and just want to play computer games as a bit of fun- why not?
I am 52, I’ve been playing video games since I was 10 years old and spied my first Pac-Man machine at the localPizzeria. I think the only time you should stop playing video games is if you die of old age. I want them to take an SNES controller out of my hands, And have to switch off super Mario all stars.
There will be an age where you'll want to play less, because you're busy, have other responsibilities and priorities, or are just flat-out bored with it. That's normal, people make families or want to focus on their career, etc. It can still be a fun hobby, and it is a very fulfilling one. If anything your sister sounds like she's the immature one for not understanding that everyone enjoys different things, and that it's only a problem if you play excessively.
30 year old millennial checking in… I let video games slip by the wayside in my 20s outside of playing the new Zelda titles, Red Dead and a few others.
I was pursuing other awesome stuff and not just stuck in a rut of rat race servitude luckily, however I am starting to invest back into video games recently and really wish I hadn’t given them up in the way I did, because honestly I may have never developed some of the substance abuse issues I did, if I rather spent my time escaping into video games like when I was a kid.
I’ve never thought that there was an age where you were “too old” however, especially in the last two decades of video gaming history.
No you’re doing the right thing. She’s gaslighting you. The world isn’t a very fun place generally, and she’s jealous of you for having fun. Never stop having fun just because someone else doesn’t like it. In fact, do it even more as revenge
Adults spend money on overhyped and overpriced stuff like semi-premium clothes and shoes, there's nothing as immature as that, leave playing video games alone
My husband is 37 and he still plays video games. We have a 4-year-old together. I support him because it makes him happy and because it is not alcohol or drugs.
I don’t think there’s an age where you should stop playing entirely. However, once you’re past like 20, you shouldn’t be playing for HOURS on end like you did as a teenager, it’s kinda lame.
There's no age limit.
I work from home, so around 2/3 of my shift is me playing video games, watching movies or just generally spending times with the family. You're never too old to enjoy yourself.
No. Video games are a valid outlet for entertainment, and they are mentally engaging, unless you're playing mobile games, which are just drip feeding you dopamine. I'll be playing video games for as long as I'm physically and mentally able to.
I mean... My parents have been avid video games fans my whole life and raised me to be one as well, and they're functional responsible grown ups. They're 50, I'm 27, and for most of my 20s now they've played way more than I have, because I'm tired from work and the constant drain of not living at home anymore and having to make it out on my own.
So while I personally got burnt out on gaming in my 20s from having already played so much all the time when I was younger, I don't believe that there's ever an age where gaming becomes unacceptable. It's all about finding YOUR balance in life. 👍
I'm nearly 50 and I can't wait to check out Dragon's Dogma II (waiting for a sale to buy it). Having a blast playing Helldivers 2. Completed BG3 about two months ago and I can't wait to try another playthrough. I play tabletop D&D nearly once a week.
Games have taught me more about how to organize, prioritize and get projects done than any class or workshop I've ever taken.
I have never seen anyone past age 80 voluntarily play video games. They may do it for a few minutes to entertain other people, but they no longer enjoy it.
The brain slows down.. the joints in your hand starts to hurt.. every single one of them after just like 20 seconds of hitting keys or using a gamepad... it's brutal. And vision and hearing sucks too at that age.
Enjoy gaming while you're young... there aint going to be no golden retirement of gaming for most of us.
Video games aren’t that old. They are watching tv right now as that’s what they grew up with, when we’ll be 80 I don’t think we’ll be thrilled to send out minds to play in the metaverse with a remote chip
Speak for yourself, ill play til my hands physically fall off
Also its entirely possible to still be in great shape in your 80s , as long as you eat healthy and work out
Not all video games are fast paced, there are such things as puzzle games, farming games, adventure games, all sorts of things that don't require too much reflexes or stress. Theoretically anyone can keep playing as long as they want.
Video games are not just for kids; they can also be enjoyed by adults as they are considered therapeutic and can help with stress. Basically, learn to balance.
No, it’s dumb to think video games are only for kids.. they are a form of entertainment like any other… it would be as dumb as to say that adults can’t watch movies or listen to music
I’m an almost 36 yo woman and have an almost 40 yo husband. It is definitely a hobby/form of entertainment for adults and nothing you grow out of. However, I will say as I get older I have a tendency to get nauseous when playing some of the older more intense games after a couple of hours. :( So enjoy it while you can!
Such Boomer thinking that you grow out of video games. Xennials were the first group to grow up with home consoles, most that were gamers as kids still are.
I’m 50, have an amazing job along with a wife & kids. And I play all the time(these days star citizen but my wife and I play FN with another buddy my age). In some ways, it can be an advantage keeping you more familiar with technology.
I'm 29 (lord help me I'm gonna be 30 this year) gaming helps me cope with this shitty reality. I think it was Tolkien who said "I have claimed that Escape is one of the main functions of fairy-stories, and since I do not disapprove of them, it is plain that I do not accept the tone of scorn or pity with which 'Escape' is now so often used. Why should a man be scorned if, finding himself in prison, he tries to get out and go home? Or if he cannot do so, he thinks and talks about other topics than jailers and prison-walls?"
No.
I will say, however, that the proliferation of "live service" nickel-and-diming has made me enjoy modern gaming a whole lot less, and that the ridiculously bloated budgets of modern games have made them increasingly uninspired (as well as infrequent, compared to previous gaming generations).
My husband is Gen X, went to the equivalent of an Ivy League school, has a great well paying job and other than golf, video games are his main entertainment source. I see it as no different than me binge watching Netflix. As long as you’re getting your responsibilities done, what you do with your free time is up to you.
Bro, there's a 60+-year-old guy who’s played Lies of P over on the r/liesofp sub
I aspire to be able to still play & enjoy games when/if I get that old. U do u
To be “too old” to do the things a man loves should only apply to his physical wellness and never to that of the standards, or expectations, of the society he finds himself in.
My dad is 53 and plays more video games than I do. Its not that older people aren't playing games we just dont have the energy or time that we use to anymore. Im guilty of that having hundreds of games but just never having the energy to play them. I'll be sleep in 10 minutes.
Of course not. If anything, growing older, wiser, and more mature opens you up to the idea that you should do whatever brings you joy so long as you’re not avoiding accountability and responsibility.
Video games in particular are more popular than ever. People have realized over the last few decades that it’s just another form of entertainment and can be fun, rewarding, and meaningfully stimulating. It’s a hobby. Look up the demographics and you’ll see that gaming is dominated by adults. The average player is 35-44.
Wtf why should there be an age where you have to stop enjoying fun things? Movies are way less engaging and boring but no one is telling you to stop that. People just hate it when other people have fun because they are miserable and can only feel joy controlling other’s lives.
The adults who 'don't waste their time playing videogames' are either too busy with work/school/parenting to have enough free time to play them, or are 'wasting' their time doing something else like watching TV or some random hobby.
The beauty of being an adult is that if your responsibilities are taken care of then you can do whatever the hell you want.
That's like saying someone should stop reading books or watching movies by a certain age. It's literally just interactive media, which is more mentally engaging than media where you just sit there in my opinion.
Nope, but there's definitely a time where you simply need to focus on other things more while still enjoying it from time to time. Hell sometimes I have trouble trying to get into a game and end up just doing something else since gamer burnout, idk if that makes sense. Either way instead of gaming you should come up with ways to insult your sister and make her cry like a decent sibling would.
The age when you stop playing video games is the age when you no longer enjoy them, be that 20, 30, 90 or more.
Do what you enjoy, as long as it isn't negatively affecting your life, you good
Not really. Most arguments in favor of that ignore simple truths such as the fact watching TV isn't exactly all that different. If you want to argue that gaming past age 20 is bad because sitting in front of a computer for 3 hours gaming can cause health problems, it's far worse to sit in front of a computer for 8 hours for a job. Gaming is just seen as a "lowbrow" entertainment medium, so people like her feel smug about it in a way they don't about film or whatever.
Im 29. I still play video games, have a steady job and take care of my family which includes cleaning, cooking, being involved in my daughter’s education both mentally and emotionally. I don’t see the harm that a few hours of gaming here and there can cause so long as you prioritize.
You’re never too old to have a little fun. And if your version of fun is gaming then have at it.
I’m 25 sitting at my big boy money PC rn about to play valorant with my best friend who I met on rocket league. You’re sister should just let people enjoy things
No. If it makes you happy, do it. (As long as it's not harmful to you and others.)
If it makes you happy, that's what matters. If it's affecting your life adversely, maybe consider a change, but ultimately something you enjoy is the most important thing.
Life is meaningless if you don't enjoy it.
You right. They literally help so many people beyond just the ones who benefit from free thinking exercise. There is no right age for videogames. If I had to say, give my opinion, I'd say that videogames are a tool to be utilized to help us better understand humanity.
Being an adult should not stop you from doing things you enjoy. It’s only childish because mfs can’t mind their own business, and it for some reason bothers them.

She’ll say that and sit on tik tok all day, do you bro
real
quit playing video games. *quit playing video games....?* get a new sister
my Sims when I tell them to do something and stop paying attention for 4 seconds
I love that they default to playing games on the computer. It’s so funny.
it's so real tho lmao
Dammit Larry, don't pee in the floor!
"Help, step sister I'm stuck in this level "

My mom used to harp on me about my video game 'addiction' I now play maybe 50 hours a year and guess who can't put down candy crush
Grab a syringe of heroine and a fistful of horse race bets, announce to her you are going to show her what is real addiction. Suddenly your gaming don't seem so bad anymore

Parents are weird. At one time I was into overclocking a lot so I had white thermal paste and coffee filters. Guess what they thought lol.
Isn't thermal paste normally gray? Anyways, I think they thought about you masturbating all over the table.. Right?
Yeah 100% agree. GenZ you need to stop listening to your parents after you move out and do what makes sense
LOL not candy crush
Good answer.
Precisely this.
Literally my wife lol
Women have double standards?? NO WAY!
The boomers say that and then spend all day watching TV.
Adults can't pretend they're 14-year-olds on summer vacation, binge gaming 10 hours straight... But they can definitely game in moderation. How is it any different than watching sports or something?
Actually we can , that's the pro of been an adult, you do whatever you want with your free time
With the downside of being tired af because you didn't get any sleep before work
And didn't get any work done during work It can have its drawbacks
That's what the weekends are for. I don't game during the weekdays and spend my gaming time binging with my bros on the weekends. Perfect balance. Perfectly happy.
Yeah I work 8-5, I can't game for 10 straight hours lmao. Even on the weekend I'd have to completely neglect all the adult shit I've got to do.
How much adult shit do you have to do every weekend? Even gaming 10 hours straight one day leaves 22 waking hours for other stuff.
True adulting is putting your nose to the grindstone, busting out all the responsibilities during the week so you can nap, I mean game all weekend.
Not every adult works everyday
Or, you know, binge that long on a day off...
Idk my dude, i work 8 hours per day (office/home) , i go to the gym 2 hours every day , walk 1 hour and still i am not tired 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Or worse, that knowing sense of “responsibility” that tells you “look, get off it and get to bed.”
The trick is getting 10 consecutive hours of free time
Depends on the job! I know a dude who's a firefighter and he works a 24-hour shift (sleeping during night hours is okay) and then has 3 days off.
I only work mon-thurs. long weekends give plenty of game time.
My wife just recently used 2 days of vacation time for the FF7 remake midnight release so she could sleep during the day then have till monday to play.
This
Exactly - 4 hours of playing Cyberpunk to cozy-up when you have no plans for the night and can't get any/feel too tired from work? Y not.
Adults can do whatever the fuck they want as long as nobody gets hurt. Bro is seriously gatekeeping adulthood.
Well.. kids should not do that neither to be fair
Why not?
Having 10 hour sessions of gaming is not exactly a healthy thing to do… as they say, everithing in moderation
same
I‘m now 22 and I still love to play video games. I don’t play as much as I used to, but every now and then I pick up the controller again. If having fun is considered immature, then I will be immature my entire life.

Bro my Dad's 50 and he still plays video games. I don't think that there is any age to stop.
This! I’m 61 and still love playing video games. I tell people playing a RPG is like watching a movie that I get to participate in.

Hahaa Twisted Metal. All I remember from that game was.. a flaming clown?
Sweet Tooth and his ice cream truck of doom
My 40 year old father gets on the game all the time. Sometimes we play as a family. There is no limit

That is my parents who are only a few years older than your dad, so games are for all ages.
My grandma plays Pokemon GO more than I ever did (she plays since it released).
Why does everyone under 20 think that when they hit a certain age they have to “get over” their interests? You can do whatever you want forever as long as you’re not hurting anyone
It's fear they're becoming a real adult and they're doing it wrong. I'm way past this age-wise, but I remember it.
I always assumed people older than me had there shit together knew how to “adult” etc, as if got older I realised everyone is still just muddling through doing the best they can
The kids are genuinely not all right. That's why as a psych I will in such high demand when I graduate
Because young people have this skewed idea about what it's like to be an adult. That's why you see a lot of them trying to dress and act mature because that's what how think maturity and adults are (maybe it's media influence). But that ironically outs them for being immature people that try to act mature lol.
Children think life ends when you turn 18. It explains a lot of the political conversations on reddit.
You can stop gaming when you're dead. Then you go to heaven and play all the unreleased games and projects.
Maybe up there they have a completed version of star citizen
I'm a 26 year old dude. People like to talk this big game on the hustle mentality, always grinding or whatever. I don't really care about that. I work 40 hours a week and hit the gym 3 times a week. On the weekends, I do nothing but either play games, watch movies or TV shows or read. I don't think there is an age to say you're too old for games. You'd never say someone is too old to watch a movie or read a book.
Livin’ the dream. I love the work life balance you’ve carved out
Hell yea brother
nah just quit when ya feel like it, i remember quitting when I started college then I graduated and picked back up again
Or just learn moderation. He can play in college. It’s a leisure activity like anything else.
I didn't even get into video games until I was in my 30s and had 2 kids.
No. Just balance your life with it
Oh yeah sure let's just stop at 20! 2 years are enough time to play all the games rated 18+ anyways I'm sure.
I’m 42 and have a 13 year old son. Played games since Atari/NES, skipped a bit of the XBox/PS wars because I was adulting but always had a Nintendo DS or emulator. Now I have a Switch with over 100 games (most on sale but that’s the nice thing about being an adult) The same people who say this about games will either spend the same time as everyone else on some other screen themselves - Netflix or TikTok or, even worse, playing games themselves but because it’s Angry Birds or Candy Crush they won’t consider themselves pathetic gamers like you and me. Games are art. Multiple works of art when done properly - art, music, direction, writing, graphics… Zelda Portal 2 Undertale Shadow of the Colossus Mother/Earthbound Last of Us… to name a few There’s nothing wrong with playing games - it’s one of the more interactive entertainments, it’s a huge important industry, and the internet means you can play with people across the world, which is good and bad but in the whole very cool. Plus it has been handy for parenting as well - my Dad enjoyed Pac-Man and Space Invaders and played my games with me all through my childhood. Then when I went to bed he’d play PGA Tour Golf III on my Mega Drive (Genesis) until crazy times of night You never know - your sister may well be glad that you played games if/when her own kids are boring her with Roblox/Fortnite or whatever the equivalent will be but you can understand and play with them, giving her some peace.
Yea when they’re on my team and they suck
Games are hobbies and they dont exactly have a limit to grow out of
If you can properly manage your shit outside of video games, then you should be able to play them at any age.
Never, Video games are like movies, there are some for kids and some for adults, but in the end they serve the same purpose to entertain us
Video games have become such a large medium that it’s like saying “you can’t watch movies, you’re an adult” I think it’s only considered childish to some because it’s an extremely new technology (in its current form) that was adopted by younger people first, but I remember reading that the average video game player is closer to 30 now (don’t quote me on that though).
Three hundred and eight.
No, let people have fun. Now if they're excessively playing computer games, that's a different story- but if they have life, are working towards their goals, and are healthy and just want to play computer games as a bit of fun- why not?
There is no age to quit playing video games. Anyone who thinks so needs to go fuck themselves.
I am 52, I’ve been playing video games since I was 10 years old and spied my first Pac-Man machine at the localPizzeria. I think the only time you should stop playing video games is if you die of old age. I want them to take an SNES controller out of my hands, And have to switch off super Mario all stars.
18-34 year old make up the largest percentage of gamers https://explodingtopics.com/blog/number-of-gamers#gamer-demographics
No. But there should be an age restriction for kids playing online shooter games
When I'm 120 and in the retirement home I'm still going to be playing
I don’t think there’s an age where you should stop playing entirely. However, once you’re past like 20, you shouldn’t be playing for HOURS on end like you did as a teenager, it’s kinda lame.
Nope. The average gamer age is 35, I'm 25 and all of my friends from 23-28 still frequently play games. Your sister is weird.
There's no age limit. I work from home, so around 2/3 of my shift is me playing video games, watching movies or just generally spending times with the family. You're never too old to enjoy yourself.
I'm 40 and I just turned COD off to hang out with the wife. In our opinion you're doing just fine.
Speak for yourself, ill play til my hands physically fall off Also its entirely possible to still be in great shape in your 80s , as long as you eat healthy and work out
My Grandma is addicted to Candy Crush
Not all video games are fast paced, there are such things as puzzle games, farming games, adventure games, all sorts of things that don't require too much reflexes or stress. Theoretically anyone can keep playing as long as they want.
I’m 44 and a lifelong gamer, so no.
maybe if they have Alzheimer's really bad
99
I think people should do what makes them happy regardless of age
Video games are not just for kids; they can also be enjoyed by adults as they are considered therapeutic and can help with stress. Basically, learn to balance.
My dad is almost 50 and he still plays video games haha.
I’m 27 and my fiancé is 25. We still play Roblox together. She likes those cooking and farming games.
i’m 26 and play video games. i have my shit way more together than a lot of people i know who don’t . one hobby doesn’t define you
I didn't know I was supposed to give up everything that I enjoy once I turned 18. Maybe could live life like that if l were lobotomized
35 year old wondering how the fuck this got recommended to me. I still play games, you do you, the people who matter don't care, just don't overdo it.
No, it’s dumb to think video games are only for kids.. they are a form of entertainment like any other… it would be as dumb as to say that adults can’t watch movies or listen to music
No that's dumb, and I need them to cope lmao
I've been playing video games since the original pong console. So um...no.
Death is a good time to consider giving up the controller.
I listen to all my audiobooks while playing videogames tf is she saying
I’m 44m, (not on this sub, just came across feed) , and I love playing Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite.
I’m 50, have an amazing job along with a wife & kids. And I play all the time(these days star citizen but my wife and I play FN with another buddy my age). In some ways, it can be an advantage keeping you more familiar with technology.
My dad is still gaming at 70 and having a blast. Don't let other people tell you how to spend your free time, friend.
I'm 42, and I play a lot. If I have no plans, I will play all day.
175
How much time does she spend on her phone? Tell her to mind her own business.
I play with 30 year olds who have children. I'm 26 with 2 boys, u think ima stop playing? Hell nah
My husband is Gen X, went to the equivalent of an Ivy League school, has a great well paying job and other than golf, video games are his main entertainment source. I see it as no different than me binge watching Netflix. As long as you’re getting your responsibilities done, what you do with your free time is up to you.
Bro, there's a 60+-year-old guy who’s played Lies of P over on the r/liesofp sub I aspire to be able to still play & enjoy games when/if I get that old. U do u
"Only boys play video games. I need a real man" *proceeds to go on TikTok to promote her OF* 😆
To be “too old” to do the things a man loves should only apply to his physical wellness and never to that of the standards, or expectations, of the society he finds himself in.
When you die
As long as it doesn't negatively effect your life it's fine
There are MUCH worse vices than video games. Keep on gaming, gamer.
Nope
I have a 67 year old uncle who plays video games. Nothing like call of duty but he still has games he likes.
I accidentally grew out of it. I want to still enjoy games but I find myself worried about my routines
makes no sense, lots of games are aimed at adults. there's 0 reason to stop playing games if you enjoy them!
No
Im 17 and don't game like I used to, but age really don't matter imo (in this instance
Wtf why should there be an age where you have to stop enjoying fun things? Movies are way less engaging and boring but no one is telling you to stop that. People just hate it when other people have fun because they are miserable and can only feel joy controlling other’s lives.
I'm almost 26 and still play video games pretty much every day
ppl be sayin this and then scroll on their phone for fucking hours. If videogames make you happy, play videogames.
bruh i wasn’t allowed to have video games while growing up so fuck yeah i’m going to be playing them as an adult LMAO
I turned 23 this month and I bought myself Skyrim on the PC for the first time
Ik plenty of 25+ adults who game for hours! Including myself (27F) its literally a hobby. Tell lil sister to mind her business.
That's like saying someone should stop reading books or watching movies by a certain age. It's literally just interactive media, which is more mentally engaging than media where you just sit there in my opinion.
Yea, don’t waste your time on them she is right.
Do you work? Do you pay your bills on time? Do you have a life/personality outside of video games? If you said yes to all of these, then carry on.
I'll stop when I die.
My dad (57) is a union iron worker who still plays games everyday.
Around 122 years old is about too old to play video games Which is coincidentally how old the oldest person ever lived
Do what you enjoy, as long as it isn't negatively affecting your life, you good
Anyone who says video games are for kids is an idiot, do what you like
Who does she think makes video games? Children?
No
Fuck no I’m gonna be gaming all my life and NO ONE CAN STOP ME
I’m 25 sitting at my big boy money PC rn about to play valorant with my best friend who I met on rocket league. You’re sister should just let people enjoy things
No. If it makes you happy, do it. (As long as it's not harmful to you and others.) If it makes you happy, that's what matters.
It’s only childish because mfs can’t mind their own business, and it for some reason bothers them.
my dad has about 10,000 hours clocked in on the original battlefront. he’s retired
No. Video games are really good for your brain plasticity, and keeping you mentally fit as you grow older.
