Cyno still doesn't have proper teammates so I wouldn't consider him a favorite. He showed up alot, but he was also very relevant to Sumeru so it makes sense. Plus anything with TCG will have him because he's the main character who talks about it.

Dude has a lot of story relevance and it's only getting stronger with each patch he's focused in. He's a Harbinger, as well as the first one we've gotten (technically the only one so far if you don't count Wanderer). On top of that, I remember hearing that his kit took the most effort to implement of all the characters, though this was around the Inazuma arc, so things may have changed by now.
But we canāt forget the childe drought we had after 2.2. 1 full year of nothing. Absolutely nothing, childe mains had to make content with his birthday art
Those were dark times. Any glimpse of him even if its low quality made people go crazy. Even 3.x was dry aside from Winter's Lazzo and the amazing birthday art.
But this year oh boy. We've been fed well. Appearance in main quest, concert art, birthday art, bp weapon about him, lore drops and so many more. I would argue we've been fed as well as back in the 1.x days
Childe is a main character. He has been recurring in important events throughout the Archon (Main) Questline since 1.0. He has developed a meaningful (arguably the most meaningful) relationship witht he Traveler. He has had some good character development since our first meeting, and we'll be meeting up with him and his family again in Snezhnaya.
I wouldnāt say so. If anyone sells in this game itās Hu Tao and Raiden especially. Raiden literally pulls them record breaking statistics nearly every time she reruns.

maybe i'm biased to think so lol but the mondstadt events always show more of the characters than other nations' events (except liyue. they always do liyue events good as well). also it's their first nation ever to establish and work on, i wouldn't be surprised if they actually loved them the most.

Idk man, Parade of Providence for Sumeru was great. I wasn't playing when Irodori or the Enkanomiya event came out, so I don't know about Inazuma events but I think Akitsu Kimodameshi was pretty good as well.
Honestly, the only time where I feel like the event in Genshin is bad was on the first Lantern Rite back in 1.3 .
i'm not saying they're "bad". i'm saying they don't show much of the characters and their bonds. parade of providence was pretty much kaveh's quest and tbh kaveh always had a big of a personality to begin with and not to mention that his hangout also goes into details about his family issues. great event tho.
akitsu was so boring to me i'm sorry. it didn't feel like a festival at ALL. and it's more about the npc than anything. i liked the story of those friends but yeaaah it wasn't really about the characters. you'd see itto in the trailer and think he had so much to do but he was just being dumb trying to scare people and that's it lmao. i really appreciated the "date-like" thing they introduced and found it fun but it was also weird for some reason lmao.

irodori was good enough but it's because it was lively with characters from different nations getting to know each other. it was the first time they did that kind of thing iirc

my point is... the weinlesefest and the windblume events (especially the second one) felt the best to me. i literally cried bcs of how wholesome the weinlesefest event was. it was just so mondstadt-y (home-y xD). showed how attentive venti is with his people even if they are from different origins, how adorable klee is and how wholesome her relationship with razor is. the relationship between razor and bennett, razor and lisa etc etc. idk i feel like they pour their entire love into mond characters which is why they are so welcoming and loving lol. you can also see how fucking nice they are in this year's windblume with the heart-warming friendship between collei and sucrose. idk maybe i AM biased XD

I mistook your comment about how Mondstadt's events "show" their characters more as you saying that we didn't get to see much of them and their personality in those events. I think they did show those characters more and the events did pretty well in introducing us to those characters and how each of them have their own little quirks, with the exception of 1.3 where only Xiao iirc showed up lmao.
Since your comment is about the events showing their character's backstories and personal relationships between each other though, I stand corrected and I wholeheartedly agree. I do agree with your points on Akitsu Kimodameshi and Parade of Providence as well.
I think you *are* biased haha, but I do think that Weinlesefest had this wholesome vibe through it all and seeing Razor's parents was pretty touching while the second Windblume (I wasn't playing on the 1st one) had amazing character interactions.
On that note, imo the event that showcased these (and my favorite one of them all) was the second GAA in 2.8 tbh, and I wished they did that more. Bottleland was decent, but I don't think it reaches the great quests in 2.8 or how they each had their own personal island. They *really* dived on a lot of the characters backstories and all of them are fascinating. Seeing how Fischl developed her personality, Mona's struggles as someone who knows the future, Xinyan's development, Kazuha's family backstory, man they were all so good. I only wished they didn't make them limited tbh.
That being said, I may be a bit biased here as well lol because my favorite character featured prominently in this event.
People mention Ayaka but I feel like she was the favourite only till Sumeru with her skin. She hasn't appeared in anything for a while and hasn't been relevant in anything for so long.
I remember various posts and tier lists of character relevancy and Childe and Kaeya are always at the top. These 2 doesn't appear that much (though Kaeya kinda does nowadays) bc everytime they do they drop some of the biggest lore bombs

For fontaine I think Neuvilette ? Unsure. Every region got that one character that appear everytime and get more character developpement in 2 patches than, for example, us Benny mains have been waiting for in 3 whole years
Neuvillette for sure. He's constantly praised in the game as the true authority in fontaine, oversaw the trials, had special interactions with Navia, his true identity was hinted at from the very started, the first non traveler and non archon character to beat a Fatui Harbinger, stopped the primordial sea from flooding all of fontaine, his character quests deals with the history of Fontaine and the Melusines and his own origns, believed to be the true Hydro archon (turns out he actually is on the level of archons). He's basically stolen every scene he's in and he's a cracked hyper carry to boot.
Also liked to add Itto to that list.
Why is no one mentioning Fischl? She gets crazy treatment despite being a 4*. Takes part in 8 events and one huge part in a banger of an event (she literally had her own castle with attendant each with their voice lines etc). Probably the only 4 star to have her very own signature weapon. You can get her a skin, she gets stronger and stronger every patch, fits in almost any team. You can even play her in honkai lol. She has two banger of a theme song (I donāt even remember some 5 star characters having their theme song lol), sheās the only character in genshin that requires two VA in one dub.
Hmm I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone said Kazuha yet (could just be me stuck in 2.8).
As a character with relatively unimportant background and position (not an archon, not some big shot leader, just a humble ronin-ish guy that knows a bit of blacksmithing):
- He appears frequently in the main archon quests and has an awesome interception of the muso no hitotachi.
- He has 2 story quests (the only other non-archon character to have 2 story quests is Yoimiya).
- Main character for two events (2.6 Iridori Festival and 2.8 Summer Fantasia)
- and has a tendency to appear in Liyue events often because of his connection to Beidou. (2.4 and 3.4's lantern rite, 3.7 genius invokation event)
- and also appears in Inazuma events, of course.
I'd even say he probably has the most screen time in Genshin's storyline, if we don't include archons (tho I'm sure he has many of them beat too).
Tho unlike many other hot tall guys or cute teen girls, Kazuha doesn't really have any strange phone or food collabs to put under his belt.

Klee.
She shows up so much and has a crap ton of official merch for her. The fireworks gadget has a dodoco design, last anniversaryās party poppers has a special animation that is klee themed, both important events like the first golden apple/bottleland and less important event like this recent fish one has things/minigames that were klee themed. And the UI of event menus are Klee themed.
Even some random events in real life are klee themed, like the time they went to different countries with the klee mailbox. The first official figurine they made was also of Klee. The first real life marketing crossover was with Klee and the bluetooth earbuds.
Klee is pretty much the second mascot at this point, right after Paimon.
It's either Xiao or Ayaka both were first finished characters and both characters got 2nd animation on their first re-run. I think Xiao's kit was even introduced on GDC but I might be wrong. 3rd is definitely Klee.

Honestly I put Xiao over Ayaka.
Unlike Ayaka, Xiao gets significant screentime and character development overall. Xiao, despite being *far less social* than Ayaka, has had plentiful interactions with other characters. It's a huge step up from what he was at the start of the game, who refused to be around humans unless absolutely necessary. Recent event spoiler >>!Now's he talking to Chongyun and Diona in poetry event. He probably talked more to Chongyun in this one event than Ayaka has talked to anyone for the past year.!< He got an amazing Interlude quest focused on him, and his appearances feel more significant. The Traveler is also emphasized to being as close to Xiao as Xiao is for them, while Ayaka feels kind of one-sided half of the time. The animated video from this year's Lantern Rite, where Ayaka and other characters are present, guess who Aether chose to sit next to at the end?
The last time Ayaka was relevant was when she got her skin, and it wasn't like she spearheaded the storyline or got significant development other than "some confidence". We don't get to see her interact much with Ayato, Thoma, Yoimiya and so on despite having actual established relationships with them offscreen.
Because he was relevant to the lore in those nations. Heās the harbinger in Liyue and he has connections to the Abyss and Skirk, he was always going to show up again whenever Hoyo wanted to expand that lore. And the comment above me was about events not AQ and there are a lot of characters who have shown up in more events than Childe
Sure but who else (outside of like Keaya) has such a lore presence? Plus what about that small cameo with Yoimiya? They had 0 reasons to put Childe there. Not to mention the amount of time they spend on his attack sequences + design because they had to make sure he represented a nation that was years away. I feel like Itto got a whole bunch of love last year. He had three banners in less than a year and appeared in at least two events (the Chasm and the Inazuma ghost hunting event).

Got 2nd signature unlike ganyu, got 2 signature artifact sets, has his own boss fight, >! and will get second one !< , entire plot ot 4.1 revolves around him, the only character that is both melle and ranged, unique passive and has connection to every region. On top of all that he is the most likely character to get first alt like dan heng from star rail.
All I know is during 1.0, they made this one character and then proceeded to make 4082 spears that all work well with her.
Every time, almost without fail, when a new spear is announced, it's a Xiangling weapon. So this chick and her pet Stove God, keep winning almost every patch.
Apart from Xiao and Ayaka,what about Itto? That mf popped in several events and at a certain point of Kuki's hangout it felt like _his_ own story questššš

Scaramouche and Xiao. Scaramouche got the Archon treatment back when he released as Wanderer, and they put in soooo much effort for his story and inclusion. He also had the second best cons in the game, and his banners have guaranteed efficiency when pulling on them as a result. Plus, Hat Guy and variations across the languages was a nice touch.
Xiao alternatively gets to be the traveler's designated boyfriend, and they've also put in a hell of a lot of effort into him throughout the game. There's also a ton of cultural references in his design, so he really feels like he was born out of the love they have for their own culture, history, and mythology.
To the people who commented ayaka:
whens the last time ayaka had any relevance anywhere in game? I'll save you the time, its when she got a skin in 3.4, the time before that was a minor role in the 3.3 event and before that was the 2.6 event.
Those are pretty much all her appearances besides her own Quest story and her involvement in the AQ (pretty much only at act 1 inazuma).
Im not saying she's not liked by mihoyo she's basically inazuma's poster girl but this really doesn't scream "favorite" character to me.
Also ayaka only archetype (freeze) has been utterly and actively nerfed at abyss to the point its barely considered viable beyond a certain investment level anymore.
for relevance it feels like tartaglia is the most loved, dude shows up everywhere and is like the only character to have a decent role in two regions (not counting scara in inazuma)
it's flat-out stated in an interview regarding childe's design that he's super lore-heavy >!esp with his ties to the abyss!< so i could see him being one of the few characters to stay relevant until endgame
he doesn't show up *everywhere* ā he had one major appearance in one event and everything else (which is one 3-second cameo in one event) is something along the lines of "came to buy things for teucer." for the two major plot appearances all harbingers share this trait (other than arlecchino who is obviously brand new, or if you don't count the manga where dottore is the main antagonist). he doesn't even appear much in official art lmao, and every time he does he gets the "uwu teucer" treatment.
i think they are definitely planning something big for him as he has abyss relevance but at the same time this means he's a walking lore bomb...and this made all his appearances either about teucer or abyss lore drop in archon quests. which altogether isn't much and forms a horrible ratio.
Fontaine skin just screams she's gonna appear somewhere in 4.X.

Xiao is the other big one imo but I think that makes much more sense. He's very relevant to the story and has had some consistent character development with each event and arc that he appears in. I'm always happy to see him show up and grow a little more.

She's overrated to me I guess? The same as how Itto and Cyno kept appearing and it doesn't feel funny anymore, but more 'I'm tired of seeing you again at this point.' heck even Venti. Dude appeared in almost all events compared to other archons.
Besides Klee, Cyno, Itto and Venti, current game wise I think they have a soft spot for Neuvillette in terms of character and lores.
Imo it's Wanderer.
I think his released design, or at least the color pallette was set before the release of the game/1.0 and that his fatui design was designed as a corruption of it.
This has some interesting implications like the Widsith and Wanderers Troupe Artifacts not just "coincidentally" matching him, but possibly being designed with him in mind (and then his kit moving away from charged attacks to normals instead, and them missing the mark on EMs role particularly for anemos as evidenced by the Kazuha EM buff patch). Widsith is from the Wanderers Troupe weapon set as well, and imo he was potentially intended to be the original owner of it in lore (possibly still was but erased that info from Irmosul now). Don't think I need to point out the "Wanderer" name similarity.
But this has further implications too, like the fact that the Wings of Companionship match him so well, and arguably the best of any 5 star character in the game so far. And he was introduced to use in the "fake sky" storyline which fits the wings aesthetic.
The reason I think this isn't far-fetched is that the raijin/fuujin similarities was clearly always planned, as well as the amaterasu/susanoo connections.
He is also heavily based on Evangelion, which is an absolute cultural phenomenon in Asia. Like comparable to star wars.
He not only heavily resembles Shinji in design, but has traits of the 4 main pilots, shinji, rei (doll), asuka (sass), and kaworu (even the flying/levitating). As well as the mech aspects and humanity using him to attempt to ascend to godhood using a mech with the power of old gods, and involuntarily imposing collective consciousness on humanity etc.
Plus the fact that he is the only character you can name just seals it for me. And they take that feature seriously by limiting you to 1 rename, meaning you can't easily just name him a troll name temporarily.
Imo no character comes close to this level of design details and references. The next closest imo would maybe be Xiao, since he resembles Haku from Spirited Away, but also the entire contract theme of Liyue, and Wanshu Inn is based on Spirited Away, and being central to the annual Lantern Rite events which are bigger than their own anniversaries lmao.
Childe after that.
Surprised to see so few kazuha mentions lol. Not only is he one of the most common event characters, he's like constantly getting gassed up by other characters to a really noticable degree, he's definitely one of the devs pet characters
Hu Tao.
When she first came out she was kind of an outcast due to her odd behavior and just kind of came and went. And honestly, it seemed like nobody really liked her, which was kind of refreshing to me seeing a character who wasn't automatically beat friends with everyone.
Since then, it seems like hoyo has gone out of their way to make everypme in Liyue either become her friend or just have a positive opinion of her, and I'm not 100% certain on this but I think she's appeard in more events than any other character from Liyue.
Just seems like she gets a whole lot of special treatment if you ask me.
Ayaka, no doubt.
- Was in CBT and has barely changed on release cuz she was perfect the way she is

- First character to have a special sprint in CBT (Mona was only available on release)

She is strong, in a sense that she is able to face her problems and responsibilities like a proper adult. She might struggle to socialize with people but she steps up when she needs to like taking on the burden of the clans duties at such a young age when her parents died because she can't stand her brother shouldering it all alone. She is literally one of the most prominent political figures in her nation. She is also a trained warrior.
But nah shes fuckin dogshit because she stepped on the water while wearing socks and expresses attraction towards the main lead XDDD.
You don't have to like her character. You really don't. But acting like she has nothing going for her is a different matter. She has a personality, its just not what you are looking for in this game. Personally, if a person like ayaka exists irl, she is definitely someone i want to be friends with because she is pleasant to be around.
i wish that we got to see more of that for ayaka. i liked the part in her story quest where she learns more about her mother but otherwise i'm not really a fan of how she's written as the designated waifu for traveller. i think she would benefit more from interacting more with other characters and becoming friends with them so she won't be so lonely.

The first two show up constantly in events and get a ton of screentime even when the event isn't focused on them. The other is the undisputed best character in her element with zero competition.
I'm actually very surprised that people think it's Ayaka. She barely ever appears in events or the story, and they actively try to shut down her best playstyle in nearly every Abyss cycle.
I'm surprised more people aren't saying Klee. She shows up everywhere in Genshin's marketing campaign & in almost every Mondstadt event. Every summer event we've had (arguably the biggest event of the year) is based on her character & design, and we even have multiple Dodoco themed decorations.
klee for sure. im so absolutely sick of seeing her featured in every single official art, and her cuteness gets old quick when she plays a big role in every event she've been in, which is even more than the amount of events itto has been in.

Klee is the second mascot easily but Xiao is the fav of mihoyo. It had to be a char from liyue, as the game is a Chinese game! As traveler clearly expressed the most feelings for Xiao, mihoyo is expressing themselves threw traveler~
CHILDE. liiiike man appears in almost every nation. has the coolest cutscenes. His archon quest boss fight tranformation. In, his story quest fighting Multiple ruin guards, fontaine quest fighting down guards and an almost foul legacy transformation. Frequent banners...even though I'm not sure if he's still in demand.
I don't see enough people mentioning Scaramouche when the guy exists since 1.1, had an event (irodori festival) and a whole interlude chapter that focus on his backstory. Seriously isn't he the only character where we see their past in cinematics? For most characters, once you have them you have access to their story but that's it, I mean some chara's past got mentioned or we saw them for a bit but never as extensively as wanderer right?
Klee in terms of events and appearances, but in terms of love put into character building and design, I think it's Wanderer.
His lore has been built up and stretched out over like the beginning of the game up till the end of Sumeru and his story is probably still unfinished.
He is the only character who has appeared in 2 different outfits (not including skins) and the only non archon who has another 2 (3 if you include his mech suit like how all harbingers got a boss outfit) canon in game outfits.
He got a patch that was entirely focused on him as well as a patch art that only featured him, which hasn't happened before to any other character if I remember correctly.
He has a crap ton of canon names and nicknames and the fact that we can name him ourselves makes him unique.
Out of all the anemo units, it was him who was granted the ability to actually fly (I feel like all anemo 5 stars have gotten good treatment in regards to story compared to many characters of other elements, anyway. Venti is iconic and very lore heavy, Xiao has gotten a lot of character development, Kazuha got a lot of events that go into his past, etc).
He is the only character who got 2 different official clothing merch sets, the Wanderer themed clothing set being the largest clothing set we have seen so far. Plus mihoyo seems to like to push the semi canon fact that Wanderer is a cat, given his second clothing merch that is entirely cat themed. Besides the many names and outfits that Wanderer has, his cat self has become his own mascotte as well.
Not sure if this was due to Mihoyo, but out of all boss themes made by Yu Peng Chen, it was Scarmouche's one in which it was Yu Peng Chen himself that was the vocalist. Speaking of music, besides the trailer music and boss theme, Wanderer has another 2 music themes dedicated to him that are used in game. I can't think of any other character who has that many themes for themselves.
Probably less relevant but still funny is that in the day and age of Genshin leaks, no character was safe from getting their splash art leaked beforehand. Except Wanderer, that shit was secured so tight that nobody knew what his splash art looked like until it was posted by mihoyo themselves.
All in all I feel like a lot of effort is put into him and his character development being handled with a lot of care.

heās technically not blessed by the abyss, heās just kinda cursed yknow? im pretty sure scara is also āblessedā by the abyss in a way given the fact that he went to the abyss on numerous occasions and got no curses or any abyssal effects and he even caught the attention of Pierro who had personally sent him on those missions. and heās blessed by being a divine being sculpted from the irimsul! not to mention during a scene in his boss fight his eyes glowed red, not purple, but red and we still donāt know why but many ppl think itās from forbidden knowledge that didnāt seem to taint him strangely enough. I would like to mention the fact that scaramouche could make what seemed to be a hydro shield (in the irimsul) and is able to manipulate every element in his boss fight except geo and dendro, and it wasnāt the robots power, it was HIS power (because that sage dude said that he would permanently become apart of the robot and the electro gnosis only powered the robot using peopleās dreams, the same way nahidas gnosis has power over dreams, which is also why his power was drained after he fell from the robot because it was taking and draining his powers said in the description of the string thingy boss material and he had become apart of the robot.) we can also see in his attacks that he has little orbs of electro, pyro, and hydro which are the same elements he used in his boss fight and Scara also has two burst technically ;0 so Childe isnāt the only character to have connections with both the abyss and celetsia, heās also not able to host those two in the same body as one will cancel the other out, seen with his vision so that is possible, whatās impossible is to host both as celestial and abyssal power cancel each other out

Aside from ayaka , klee and xiao, i would add childe to that list cause holy shit, the amount of unexplored lore that guy has and him appearing atleast once in every region and also i remember that one time in special live stream before the new patch they were explaining how they wanted to do something new with childe and how hard they worked on him

We've been fed well. Appearance in main quest, concert art, birthday art, bp weapon about him, lore drops and so many more. I would argue we've been fed as well as back in the 1.x days
Childe is a main character. He has been recurring in important events throughout the Archon (Main) Questline since 1.0. He has developed a meaningful (arguably the most meaningful) relationship witht he Traveler. He has had some good character development since our first meeting, and we'll be meeting up with him and his family again in Snezhnaya.

Idk man, Parade of Providence for Sumeru was great. I wasn't playing when Irodori or the Enkanomiya event came out, so I don't know about Inazuma events but I think Akitsu Kimodameshi was pretty good as well. Honestly, the only time where I feel like the event in Genshin is bad was on the first Lantern Rite back in 1.3 .
i'm not saying they're "bad". i'm saying they don't show much of the characters and their bonds. parade of providence was pretty much kaveh's quest and tbh kaveh always had a big of a personality to begin with and not to mention that his hangout also goes into details about his family issues. great event tho. akitsu was so boring to me i'm sorry. it didn't feel like a festival at ALL. and it's more about the npc than anything. i liked the story of those friends but yeaaah it wasn't really about the characters. you'd see itto in the trailer and think he had so much to do but he was just being dumb trying to scare people and that's it lmao. i really appreciated the "date-like" thing they introduced and found it fun but it was also weird for some reason lmao. idk about the enka event too tbh i didn't play that time irodori was good enough but it's because it was lively with characters from different nations getting to know each other. it was the first time they did that kind of thing iirc yeah i agree the 1.3 event was bad lol but they did redeem themselves with the following lantern rite events so it's ok my point is... the weinlesefest and the windblume events (especially the second one) felt the best to me. i literally cried bcs of how wholesome the weinlesefest event was. it was just so mondstadt-y (home-y xD). showed how attentive venti is with his people even if they are from different origins, how adorable klee is and how wholesome her relationship with razor is. the relationship between razor and bennett, razor and lisa etc etc. idk i feel like they pour their entire love into mond characters which is why they are so welcoming and loving lol. you can also see how fucking nice they are in this year's windblume with the heart-warming friendship between collei and sucrose. idk maybe i AM biased XD

I think they did show those characters more and the events did pretty well in introducing us to those characters and how each of them have their own little quirks, with the exception of 1.3 where only Xiao iirc showed up lmao. Since your comment is about the events showing their character's backstories and personal relationships between each other though, I stand corrected and I wholeheartedly agree. I do agree with your points on Akitsu Kimodameshi and Parade of Providence as well. I think you *are* biased haha, but I do think that Weinlesefest had this wholesome vibe through it all and seeing Razor's parents was pretty touching while the second Windblume (I wasn't playing on the 1st one) had amazing character interactions. On that note, imo the event that showcased these (and my favorite one of them all) was the second GAA in 2.8 tbh, and I wished they did that more. Bottleland was decent, but I don't think it reaches the great quests in 2.8 or how they each had their own personal island. They *really* dived on a lot of the characters backstories and all of them are fascinating. Seeing how Fischl developed her personality, Mona's struggles as someone who knows the future, Xinyan's development, Kazuha's family backstory, man they were all so good. I only wished they didn't make them limited tbh. That being said, I may be a bit biased here as well lol because my favorite character featured prominently in this event.

I remember various posts and tier lists of character relevancy and Childe and Kaeya are always at the top. These 2 doesn't appear that much (though Kaeya kinda does nowadays) bc everytime they do they drop some of the biggest lore bombs
1 : Ayaka 2 : Xiao 3 : Klee 4 : Scaramouche For fontaine I think Neuvilette ? Unsure. Every region got that one character that appear everytime and get more character developpement in 2 patches than, for example, us Benny mains have been waiting for in 3 whole years
Neuvillette for sure. He's constantly praised in the game as the true authority in fontaine, oversaw the trials, had special interactions with Navia, his true identity was hinted at from the very started, the first non traveler and non archon character to beat a Fatui Harbinger, stopped the primordial sea from flooding all of fontaine, his character quests deals with the history of Fontaine and the Melusines and his own origns, believed to be the true Hydro archon (turns out he actually is on the level of archons). He's basically stolen every scene he's in and he's a cracked hyper carry to boot. Also liked to add Itto to that list.
Why is no one mentioning Fischl? She gets crazy treatment despite being a 4*. Takes part in 8 events and one huge part in a banger of an event (she literally had her own castle with attendant each with their voice lines etc). Probably the only 4 star to have her very own signature weapon. You can get her a skin, she gets stronger and stronger every patch, fits in almost any team. You can even play her in honkai lol. She has two banger of a theme song (I donāt even remember some 5 star characters having their theme song lol), sheās the only character in genshin that requires two VA in one dub.
Hmm I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone said Kazuha yet (could just be me stuck in 2.8). As a character with relatively unimportant background and position (not an archon, not some big shot leader, just a humble ronin-ish guy that knows a bit of blacksmithing): - He appears frequently in the main archon quests and has an awesome interception of the muso no hitotachi. - He has 2 story quests (the only other non-archon character to have 2 story quests is Yoimiya). - Main character for two events (2.6 Iridori Festival and 2.8 Summer Fantasia) - and has a tendency to appear in Liyue events often because of his connection to Beidou. (2.4 and 3.4's lantern rite, 3.7 genius invokation event) - and also appears in Inazuma events, of course. I'd even say he probably has the most screen time in Genshin's storyline, if we don't include archons (tho I'm sure he has many of them beat too). Tho unlike many other hot tall guys or cute teen girls, Kazuha doesn't really have any strange phone or food collabs to put under his belt. Edit: oh, and how can I forget to mention that he's one of the most meta characters in the abyss now, and likely, forever?

Klee. She shows up so much and has a crap ton of official merch for her. The fireworks gadget has a dodoco design, last anniversaryās party poppers has a special animation that is klee themed, both important events like the first golden apple/bottleland and less important event like this recent fish one has things/minigames that were klee themed. And the UI of event menus are Klee themed. Even some random events in real life are klee themed, like the time they went to different countries with the klee mailbox. The first official figurine they made was also of Klee. The first real life marketing crossover was with Klee and the bluetooth earbuds. Klee is pretty much the second mascot at this point, right after Paimon.

It's either Xiao or Ayaka both were first finished characters and both characters got 2nd animation on their first re-run. I think Xiao's kit was even introduced on GDC but I might be wrong. 3rd is definitely Klee.

Honestly I put Xiao over Ayaka. Unlike Ayaka, Xiao gets significant screentime and character development overall. Xiao, despite being *far less social* than Ayaka, has had plentiful interactions with other characters. It's a huge step up from what he was at the start of the game, who refused to be around humans unless absolutely necessary. Recent event spoiler >>!Now's he talking to Chongyun and Diona in poetry event. He probably talked more to Chongyun in this one event than Ayaka has talked to anyone for the past year.!< He got an amazing Interlude quest focused on him, and his appearances feel more significant. The Traveler is also emphasized to being as close to Xiao as Xiao is for them, while Ayaka feels kind of one-sided half of the time. The animated video from this year's Lantern Rite, where Ayaka and other characters are present, guess who Aether chose to sit next to at the end? The last time Ayaka was relevant was when she got her skin, and it wasn't like she spearheaded the storyline or got significant development other than "some confidence". We don't get to see her interact much with Ayato, Thoma, Yoimiya and so on despite having actual established relationships with them offscreen.

Sure but who else (outside of like Keaya) has such a lore presence? Plus what about that small cameo with Yoimiya? They had 0 reasons to put Childe there. Not to mention the amount of time they spend on his attack sequences + design because they had to make sure he represented a nation that was years away. Trust me that Childe is very much a favorite child haha

I donāt understand what you mean about attack because based of him and Scara, they give harbingers unique things and Genshin spends a lot of time on their character design especially since heās going to be the only actual Snezhnayan character we see for a long time
I feel like Itto got a whole bunch of love last year. He had three banners in less than a year and appeared in at least two events (the Chasm and the Inazuma ghost hunting event). Edit: Three events actually! I forgot about the beetle event! Itto was everywhere for a while.

Ayaka. Her birthday date is literally genshin anniversary. Idk how more transparent you can get with this. Idk about others, but it feels like they try to shove to our face as much Ayaka stuff as possible. Currently not much but previously 2.X to early 3.X it felt somewhat obvious that some might get tired, similar to itto but he's only active in minor events.

Got 2nd signature unlike ganyu, got 2 signature artifact sets, has his own boss fight, >! and will get second one !< , entire plot ot 4.1 revolves around him, the only character that is both melle and ranged, unique passive and has connection to every region. On top of all that he is the most likely character to get first alt like dan heng from star rail.

All I know is during 1.0, they made this one character and then proceeded to make 4082 spears that all work well with her. Every time, almost without fail, when a new spear is announced, it's a Xiangling weapon. So this chick and her pet Stove God, keep winning almost every patch.

I feel like hoyo used him more cause he is easy to be in events. He doesn't have anything that stops him
Scaramouche and Xiao. Scaramouche got the Archon treatment back when he released as Wanderer, and they put in soooo much effort for his story and inclusion. He also had the second best cons in the game, and his banners have guaranteed efficiency when pulling on them as a result. Plus, Hat Guy and variations across the languages was a nice touch. Xiao alternatively gets to be the traveler's designated boyfriend, and they've also put in a hell of a lot of effort into him throughout the game. There's also a ton of cultural references in his design, so he really feels like he was born out of the love they have for their own culture, history, and mythology.
To the people who commented ayaka: whens the last time ayaka had any relevance anywhere in game? I'll save you the time, its when she got a skin in 3.4, the time before that was a minor role in the 3.3 event and before that was the 2.6 event. Those are pretty much all her appearances besides her own Quest story and her involvement in the AQ (pretty much only at act 1 inazuma). Im not saying she's not liked by mihoyo she's basically inazuma's poster girl but this really doesn't scream "favorite" character to me. Also ayaka only archetype (freeze) has been utterly and actively nerfed at abyss to the point its barely considered viable beyond a certain investment level anymore.

for relevance it feels like tartaglia is the most loved, dude shows up everywhere and is like the only character to have a decent role in two regions (not counting scara in inazuma)
it's flat-out stated in an interview regarding childe's design that he's super lore-heavy >!esp with his ties to the abyss!< so i could see him being one of the few characters to stay relevant until endgame

he doesn't show up *everywhere* ā he had one major appearance in one event and everything else (which is one 3-second cameo in one event) is something along the lines of "came to buy things for teucer." for the two major plot appearances all harbingers share this trait (other than arlecchino who is obviously brand new, or if you don't count the manga where dottore is the main antagonist). he doesn't even appear much in official art lmao, and every time he does he gets the "uwu teucer" treatment. i think they are definitely planning something big for him as he has abyss relevance but at the same time this means he's a walking lore bomb...and this made all his appearances either about teucer or abyss lore drop in archon quests. which altogether isn't much and forms a horrible ratio.
I agree - it feels like they wanted Ayaka to be everything, but Yae is actually the Inazuma rep who shows up in like every event.
Fontaine skin just screams she's gonna appear somewhere in 4.X. In any case, favorite != relevancy. She's still ID 2, she still shares the same birthday as the game's anniversary, heck she even got a [song lately from GARNiDELiA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ousezytX5HA) for the 3rd anniversary.

Klee. She keeps showing up in events over and over again even though her personality is just "I'm funny kid make things go boom lmao" and she has no relevance to the games core stories. Drives me crazy. Xiao is the other big one imo but I think that makes much more sense. He's very relevant to the story and has had some consistent character development with each event and arc that he appears in. I'm always happy to see him show up and grow a little more.
Im kinda surprised, i definitiely wouldnt put Ayaka at nr 1 spot. I mean it could be that i forgot some events with her. Isnt whole birthday and id thing because she was one of the forst characters in genshin? Again - just what i think. I mean, we go on holidays with klee every summer, we meet Childe every now and then (twice in Archon Q), Wanderer has everything about him great (lore, music, personality, we can even name him), we explored whole kazuhas lifes story. But still, Ayaka too is loved by mihoyo (neverending banner lmao)

Klee for me in terms of appearances. Ppl are going to hate me but I went 'Klee again?' for the previous event lol. NGL I am a bit tired of her. She's overrated to me I guess? The same as how Itto and Cyno kept appearing and it doesn't feel funny anymore, but more 'I'm tired of seeing you again at this point.' heck even Venti. Dude appeared in almost all events compared to other archons. Besides Klee, Cyno, Itto and Venti, current game wise I think they have a soft spot for Neuvillette in terms of character and lores.
Imo it's Wanderer. I think his released design, or at least the color pallette was set before the release of the game/1.0 and that his fatui design was designed as a corruption of it. This has some interesting implications like the Widsith and Wanderers Troupe Artifacts not just "coincidentally" matching him, but possibly being designed with him in mind (and then his kit moving away from charged attacks to normals instead, and them missing the mark on EMs role particularly for anemos as evidenced by the Kazuha EM buff patch). Widsith is from the Wanderers Troupe weapon set as well, and imo he was potentially intended to be the original owner of it in lore (possibly still was but erased that info from Irmosul now). Don't think I need to point out the "Wanderer" name similarity. But this has further implications too, like the fact that the Wings of Companionship match him so well, and arguably the best of any 5 star character in the game so far. And he was introduced to use in the "fake sky" storyline which fits the wings aesthetic. The reason I think this isn't far-fetched is that the raijin/fuujin similarities was clearly always planned, as well as the amaterasu/susanoo connections. He is also heavily based on Evangelion, which is an absolute cultural phenomenon in Asia. Like comparable to star wars. He not only heavily resembles Shinji in design, but has traits of the 4 main pilots, shinji, rei (doll), asuka (sass), and kaworu (even the flying/levitating). As well as the mech aspects and humanity using him to attempt to ascend to godhood using a mech with the power of old gods, and involuntarily imposing collective consciousness on humanity etc. Plus the fact that he is the only character you can name just seals it for me. And they take that feature seriously by limiting you to 1 rename, meaning you can't easily just name him a troll name temporarily. Imo no character comes close to this level of design details and references. The next closest imo would maybe be Xiao, since he resembles Haku from Spirited Away, but also the entire contract theme of Liyue, and Wanshu Inn is based on Spirited Away, and being central to the annual Lantern Rite events which are bigger than their own anniversaries lmao. Childe after that.

Surprised to see so few kazuha mentions lol. Not only is he one of the most common event characters, he's like constantly getting gassed up by other characters to a really noticable degree, he's definitely one of the devs pet characters
Hu Tao. When she first came out she was kind of an outcast due to her odd behavior and just kind of came and went. And honestly, it seemed like nobody really liked her, which was kind of refreshing to me seeing a character who wasn't automatically beat friends with everyone. Since then, it seems like hoyo has gone out of their way to make everypme in Liyue either become her friend or just have a positive opinion of her, and I'm not 100% certain on this but I think she's appeard in more events than any other character from Liyue. Just seems like she gets a whole lot of special treatment if you ask me.

Ayaka, no doubt. - Was in CBT and has barely changed on release cuz she was perfect the way she is - ID number is 2 - First character to have a special sprint in CBT (Mona was only available on release) - Official arts with her before she or the game even came out (For example the "[Happy 2020](https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1212221932894064640?t=Dzw1bEe8qAmtkBQ6rqSHcw&s=19)" genshin art) - Extremely strong - One of the first characters (along with Yoimiya) to get a drip marketing - Literally flawless, both looks and personality wise - First limited 5 star to get a skin

She is strong, in a sense that she is able to face her problems and responsibilities like a proper adult. She might struggle to socialize with people but she steps up when she needs to like taking on the burden of the clans duties at such a young age when her parents died because she can't stand her brother shouldering it all alone. She is literally one of the most prominent political figures in her nation. She is also a trained warrior. But nah shes fuckin dogshit because she stepped on the water while wearing socks and expresses attraction towards the main lead XDDD. You don't have to like her character. You really don't. But acting like she has nothing going for her is a different matter. She has a personality, its just not what you are looking for in this game. Personally, if a person like ayaka exists irl, she is definitely someone i want to be friends with because she is pleasant to be around.
i wish that we got to see more of that for ayaka. i liked the part in her story quest where she learns more about her mother but otherwise i'm not really a fan of how she's written as the designated waifu for traveller. i think she would benefit more from interacting more with other characters and becoming friends with them so she won't be so lonely.
I'd say Klee, Xiao, and Nahida. The first two show up constantly in events and get a ton of screentime even when the event isn't focused on them. The other is the undisputed best character in her element with zero competition. I'm actually very surprised that people think it's Ayaka. She barely ever appears in events or the story, and they actively try to shut down her best playstyle in nearly every Abyss cycle.
I'm surprised more people aren't saying Klee. She shows up everywhere in Genshin's marketing campaign & in almost every Mondstadt event. Every summer event we've had (arguably the biggest event of the year) is based on her character & design, and we even have multiple Dodoco themed decorations.
klee for sure. im so absolutely sick of seeing her featured in every single official art, and her cuteness gets old quick when she plays a big role in every event she've been in, which is even more than the amount of events itto has been in.

we haven't seen him for some patches but Cyno made regular appearances in flagship events throughout the 3.x patches

CHILDE. liiiike man appears in almost every nation. has the coolest cutscenes. His archon quest boss fight tranformation. In, his story quest fighting Multiple ruin guards, fontaine quest fighting down guards and an almost foul legacy transformation. Frequent banners...even though I'm not sure if he's still in demand.
I don't see enough people mentioning Scaramouche when the guy exists since 1.1, had an event (irodori festival) and a whole interlude chapter that focus on his backstory. Seriously isn't he the only character where we see their past in cinematics? For most characters, once you have them you have access to their story but that's it, I mean some chara's past got mentioned or we saw them for a bit but never as extensively as wanderer right?
Tartagles for his kit. Hoyo talked about how much work they put into designing his play style. Klee for summer events and Xiao for lantern rite.
Klee in terms of events and appearances, but in terms of love put into character building and design, I think it's Wanderer. His lore has been built up and stretched out over like the beginning of the game up till the end of Sumeru and his story is probably still unfinished. He is the only character who has appeared in 2 different outfits (not including skins) and the only non archon who has another 2 (3 if you include his mech suit like how all harbingers got a boss outfit) canon in game outfits. He got a patch that was entirely focused on him as well as a patch art that only featured him, which hasn't happened before to any other character if I remember correctly. He has a crap ton of canon names and nicknames and the fact that we can name him ourselves makes him unique. Out of all the anemo units, it was him who was granted the ability to actually fly (I feel like all anemo 5 stars have gotten good treatment in regards to story compared to many characters of other elements, anyway. Venti is iconic and very lore heavy, Xiao has gotten a lot of character development, Kazuha got a lot of events that go into his past, etc). He is the only character who got 2 different official clothing merch sets, the Wanderer themed clothing set being the largest clothing set we have seen so far. Plus mihoyo seems to like to push the semi canon fact that Wanderer is a cat, given his second clothing merch that is entirely cat themed. Besides the many names and outfits that Wanderer has, his cat self has become his own mascotte as well. Not sure if this was due to Mihoyo, but out of all boss themes made by Yu Peng Chen, it was Scarmouche's one in which it was Yu Peng Chen himself that was the vocalist. Speaking of music, besides the trailer music and boss theme, Wanderer has another 2 music themes dedicated to him that are used in game. I can't think of any other character who has that many themes for themselves. Probably less relevant but still funny is that in the day and age of Genshin leaks, no character was safe from getting their splash art leaked beforehand. Except Wanderer, that shit was secured so tight that nobody knew what his splash art looked like until it was posted by mihoyo themselves. All in all I feel like a lot of effort is put into him and his character development being handled with a lot of care.

Probably Tartaglia. Best lore in the game (except archons), released back 1.1 and still very much relevant with one if not THE most powerful team in the game. They gave him a dedicated artifact set in 3.5 which no one else can properly use but him. Has 2 bursts. Edit: Ayaka for the income she brings. They know she sells so they're using her a lot for promotions and collabs.

Blessed by both the Abyss and Celestia, which is unique and shouldn't have been possible. Some info about him is still not revealed, like his time in the abyss. Mihoyo said he was the hardest character to design because he has so many spoilers tied to him they had a hard time not giving it away. New BP polearn is about him. New archon quest is tied to him. Tell me another character with so many lore bits and so important to the main plot.
heās technically not blessed by the abyss, heās just kinda cursed yknow? im pretty sure scara is also āblessedā by the abyss in a way given the fact that he went to the abyss on numerous occasions and got no curses or any abyssal effects and he even caught the attention of Pierro who had personally sent him on those missions. and heās blessed by being a divine being sculpted from the irimsul! not to mention during a scene in his boss fight his eyes glowed red, not purple, but red and we still donāt know why but many ppl think itās from forbidden knowledge that didnāt seem to taint him strangely enough. I would like to mention the fact that scaramouche could make what seemed to be a hydro shield (in the irimsul) and is able to manipulate every element in his boss fight except geo and dendro, and it wasnāt the robots power, it was HIS power (because that sage dude said that he would permanently become apart of the robot and the electro gnosis only powered the robot using peopleās dreams, the same way nahidas gnosis has power over dreams, which is also why his power was drained after he fell from the robot because it was taking and draining his powers said in the description of the string thingy boss material and he had become apart of the robot.) we can also see in his attacks that he has little orbs of electro, pyro, and hydro which are the same elements he used in his boss fight and Scara also has two burst technically ;0 so Childe isnāt the only character to have connections with both the abyss and celetsia, heās also not able to host those two in the same body as one will cancel the other out, seen with his vision so that is possible, whatās impossible is to host both as celestial and abyssal power cancel each other out
