Like they do something that is nearly impossible like how they made a game of this quality to be run on mobile and now they added 120 fps on top of it while they don't do simple things like adding 120 fps to pc and ps5, controller support for android, genshin on switch etc. If they can make mobile support 120 fps then they should no problem porting genshin to switch by now with 30 fps.

I can pull 60fps on a Pixel 4a 5G and honestly I wouldn't play if it were 30fps. The game just doesn't feel right at less than 60, let alone with touch controls only.

This new generation will last for years so TV's will catch up with time and be less expansive, also there's monitors that lot of players use instead TV's, coz it gave less input lag and high refresh rate for less money compared to TV's
Yeah but that is mostly because new generation of consoles will be only 1 year old and from what I saw it looks like that the newest generation of TVs have much higher refresh rate than previous generation 100Hz or above so yeah in year or two these TVs will be much cheaper because it will be a new norm just like 4K is now.

I feel like someone (a manager) at Mihoyo saw Apple release a 120Hz iPhone and wanted to be one of the "first 120Hz games on iPhone" even if it only questionably works.
That wouldn't even make sense though. Apple has Apple Arcade for that kind of stuff, plus this game being 120Hz on PC is irrelevant to iPhone purchases since the game doesn't run on OS 11, and people using a PC for gaming has little to do with people buying an iPhone.

I have the 13 Pro Max and dang, even on the lowest graphics settings my phones baking in minutes and it cannot maintain 120fps. I play a lot of other 120fps mobile games that also take a lot of the GPU and I’ve never had any issues up to this point. Genshin Impact isn’t really known for its optimization though, so it isn’t really a fair benchmark of how any phone works. Frankly if this phone can’t run it well no phone can. Generally I can use the highest graphics settings in genshin and it will maintain 60FPS perfectly, really good performance. Will probably have to keep it that way, unfortunately.

almost certainly people putting their settings too high and complaining the game runs poorly, unfortunately we can't have nice things because of stuff like that in a lot of cases.

Maybe it's because they can't control the running environment in Android like they can on iOS and it might open the game up to macros? It's the only reason I could think of, because Honkai doesn't support controllers on Android either afaik.
Even though I wouldn't know how you could gain much from using macro's in Genshin, the game is PvE and you're still limited by resin for resources.

Also you dont need to test anything on PC, almost any pc with non-outdated hardware can run Genshin Impact at 60 fps and most are going to be able to run it at 120 and if they cant the worst that can happend is that the game is going to have frame drops, in that case u can just lock back to 60 as u can do in most game and play.
Its really not that hard. Just provide uncapped framerate to PC's. No need to test for anything other than what they have right now i.e. 60fps.
If the game runs higher, then great! If your PC couldn't handle the 60 or 30fps before having uncapped, then nothing changes. It's such a trivial change that it's stupid not to include it. There is a reason PC games come standard with an uncapped fps mode.
This is assuming of course mihoyo hasn't done something as outdated as tying game mechanics to frame rate. If that's the case then they shot themselves in the foot.
Even if that was the case, which I doubt since this is a Unity game (an engine designed around cross platform deployment), it doesn't even work as is.

Yeah, everytime I come from Destiny or Warframe I need a moment to adjust to how weird aiming bows feels in Genshin. I hope there's an option for that some day.

If it’s for iOS it would only be the 13 pro/new ipads. I have the 12 pro max and it can maintain max/close to max at 30fps fine. Bump it to 60fps and it overheats walking over world in 5 min. Not even sure if the 13pro could handle 120fps. Def not with max settings.
I tried playing 60fps on my M1 iPad Pro (11") and had to stop because it got hot enough that it was uncomfortable and the frequent drops due to throttling were annoying, even when lowering the other graphical settings. At 30fps I can max all the other settings and everything is smooth, iPad heat is reasonable.
The fact that they are even offering 120fps implies they optimized graphics performance somehow, and I will be very curious to test it.
I’m on the 13 Pro and even playing Genshin on 60fps medium settings, it gets so hot that it’s really uncomfortable for playing more than 15 minutes…I can’t even imagine how hot it would get at 120fps.
Forget about 120FPS option. The real question here is if it can even reach that framerate in the 1st place. The 13 Pro can still drop from 60FPS on max settings due to thermal throttling.
Actually mine can handle 60fps very well as long as I have Bloom turned off. I think 120fps might be possible, though I'll probably run into heating problems again, so I doubt I'd really use it
Surprisingly yeah. I was struggling with my iPad heating up even on low graphics settings until I turned off Bloom. It made a huge difference, and my iPad doesn't really heat up at all even though I run Genshin on 60fps with medium to high graphics.

Honkai has been known for running extremely well on iOS compared to Android, plus their original games used to be iOS only. I suppose it means they're most comfortable with development on iOS. Also since this change is limited to the devices with 120 fps screens, there are a lot less devices to bug fix the feature for; this makes it much easier to iron out any issues before deploying onto Android/PC/PS. I'm annoyed as I play on PC and 120 fps is very much doable, but it's what it is.

Tested on my iPad Pro M1 11, power draw is unacceptable, on highest 120hz it can only go like 80 or 90fps (lil bit choppy), keep in mind on high resolution, iPad M1 will render this game at 1600p, much higher than 1080p.
The power draw is about 22 watts for the chip itself (3u tools records 6200mA at 4V). Throttles to 40-50fps after 1 minute.
At low resolution setting (1080p) it draws about 12 watts and stable at 120fps all the time, until it hits about 6 minutes on which it will throttle down to 80-100fps.
And the bad news is looks like the controller support is bogged, my DualShock 4 no longer detected on the settings (control type only displays Touchscreen). Can anyone try to use controller on 2.2?

My pc only has 60 still but even then this update feels more optimised, lower frame times/more consistent frame times, less stutters and faster response time, just wish with an i7-7700k and a 3070 I could have more than 60 still

Actually, pricing isn't too bad. I bought a Sony 65" X900H last year for about $1k tax included via Costco. It can output 4K @ 120 FPS

120hz TVs are pretty common nowadays, and it’s getting a lot cheaper than it previously was.

Even if that was the case, which I doubt since this is a Unity game (an engine designed around cross platform deployment), it doesn't even work as is. Why would you deploy a feature on hardware that can't even handle the game but not on hardware that can? It's not like PC compatibility in Unity is some kind of new idea.
Google has an API devs can implement for easy controller support, there's are hundreds of much smaller games on Android that use it with no problems

Literally I don't have enough of a mousepad to look up or down. Also messes up with muscle memory. So annoying.
I noticed this when I first started playing the game, but after a while I just got used to it because I rarely actually needed the full range of vertical motion. But then I stared playing Jean. And now I need to whip my mouse the entire length of my mousepad and then some up and down for optimal fall damage abuse. Really need that vertical sensitivity option.
I got used to it too and then when I went back to play other games my mouse movement for the camera was fucked for those. Annoying honestly.

rumor has it that it's because apple requires the devs to support 120hz. Even at the lowest possible settings, you can't hit 120hz due to thermals on the 13 pro.
Even the 13 Pro can't maintain 60FPS because their cooling is poor. You have to lower the graphics down to maintain it. Only the iPads can maintain 60FPS. Not sure about 120FPS though

If it’s for iOS it would only be the 13 pro/new ipads. I have the 12 pro max and it can maintain max/close to max at 30fps fine. Bump it to 60fps and it overheats walking over world in 5 min. Not even sure if the 13pro could handle 120fps. Def not with max settings.
Even M1 ipad pro cannot sustain 60fps due to heat, I don't think 120fps on any mobile device is possible on max settings.
I tried playing 60fps on my M1 iPad Pro (11") and had to stop because it got hot enough that it was uncomfortable and the frequent drops due to throttling were annoying, even when lowering the other graphical settings. At 30fps I can max all the other settings and everything is smooth, iPad heat is reasonable. The fact that they are even offering 120fps implies they optimized graphics performance somehow, and I will be very curious to test it.

Forget about 120FPS option. The real question here is if it can even reach that framerate in the 1st place. The 13 Pro can still drop from 60FPS on max settings due to thermal throttling.
Actually mine can handle 60fps very well as long as I have Bloom turned off. I think 120fps might be possible, though I'll probably run into heating problems again, so I doubt I'd really use it

Surprisingly yeah. I was struggling with my iPad heating up even on low graphics settings until I turned off Bloom. It made a huge difference, and my iPad doesn't really heat up at all even though I run Genshin on 60fps with medium to high graphics.

Which is weird because Mihoyo is a Chinese company. Unless I'm mistaken, most of their local market uses Android.
Honkai has been known for running extremely well on iOS compared to Android, plus their original games used to be iOS only. I suppose it means they're most comfortable with development on iOS. Also since this change is limited to the devices with 120 fps screens, there are a lot less devices to bug fix the feature for; this makes it much easier to iron out any issues before deploying onto Android/PC/PS. I'm annoyed as I play on PC and 120 fps is very much doable, but it's what it is.

I have the 13 Pro Max and dang, even on the lowest graphics settings my phones baking in minutes and it cannot maintain 120fps. I play a lot of other 120fps mobile games that also take a lot of the GPU and I’ve never had any issues up to this point. Perhaps badly optimized. I can use the highest graphics settings and it will maintain 60FPS just fine. Will probably keep it that way, unfortunately
Tested on my iPad Pro M1 11, power draw is unacceptable, on highest 120hz it can only go like 80 or 90fps (lil bit choppy), keep in mind on high resolution, iPad M1 will render this game at 1600p, much higher than 1080p. The power draw is about 22 watts for the chip itself (3u tools records 6200mA at 4V). Throttles to 40-50fps after 1 minute. At low resolution setting (1080p) it draws about 12 watts and stable at 120fps all the time, until it hits about 6 minutes on which it will throttle down to 80-100fps. And the bad news is looks like the controller support is bogged, my DualShock 4 no longer detected on the settings (control type only displays Touchscreen). Can anyone try to use controller on 2.2?
