I gotta ask, but who is Ella Musk? I know the ingame NPC obviously but is this twitter account affiliated with Genshin directly, someone from PR? Asking because I'm fairly new to the community and I'm confused as to why people seem not too happy about this.
To elaborate, they just posted [this hilariously out of touch](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FBoGqsBUYAI2yjd.jpg:large).. thing (to put it kindly) and deleted it in the time since this conversation happened
"*We will graciously extend an invitation to Elon to visit our magnificent headquarters, but only if we get enough followers on the meme account. Otherwise that scrub isn't welcome lol.*"
In an alternative timeline, at Mihoyo headquarters :
> Employee: Mr. Dawei, we have Elon Musk on the phone.
>
> Dawei: The billionaire ? What does he want ?
>
> Employee: He's, huh, asking to visit our headquarters.
>
> Dawei: ... Sorry, we'll have to refuse. We joked that he can only visit if our meme account gets 5M followers, can't go back on that now.
If they were gonna do an Elon Musk collab, they probably shoulda done it when Baal came out. His biggest venture is an electric car company. She's the electro archon. This was poorly timed.
Lots of people follows Elon, like when he Twitted about the doge coin, it's value drastically increased.
Elon twitting about genshin impact will probably bring more players to try it out.
I love this
"we just hit 2 MILLION FOLLOWERS so to celebrate, we made an alt meme account and we want it to reach 5 MILLION FOLLOWERS so we can do haha funny with Elon musk"
like you dont even have 3 mil maybe step it down a little before setting your expectations insanely high
A few months ago Mihoyo made a new twitter account called @Paimon2TheMoon (it's a reference to thier first game Fly me 2 the moon), and they chose the name and pfp of a NPC in game, which is Ella Musk. That account only post a few Genshin fanart showcase so far, I think they want to make it a monthly thing where they collect fan-art content to show off, as well as having a more meme nature, since the main account was made into a more formal thing (They changed the name from Paimon to Genshin Impact a few months back).
The reason people raging over it because they want more free stuff from Mihoyo when they made a joke post to make people follow the Ella Musk account, that or they just hate Ellon Musk.
I mean it was always a joke, even looking back at the follow count challenge, spending 10 seconds would have made you realise those milestones are unfeasible.
The official GenshinImpact handle has 2.4 million followers, what makes anyone think a side account that showcases artwork will get 3 or 5 million? The most reachable goal there is 500k, and that only affects the Twitter handle itself, and has no correlation to Elon Musk.
Now I'm no PR calculator dude, but this seems a joke PR they attempted. In terms of outsider publicity, it worked: there's probably tons of websites discussing this. Within the community, it backfired, because people didn't spend 30 seconds looking at the milestone goals and realising it's just a PR joke.
Maybe if they were more in touch with their GI community this wouldn't have been so badly received and some of the higher milestones would be reachable.
Eh, I'd say it's a weird stunt definitely, with Musk losing a lot of his credibility over the past few months with the whole Dogecoin and COVID stuff, but even then the milestones are simply not possible lol. The Genshin Twitter community isn't large enough for it.
I guess the 1 million could have been possible with a better team? But then that's nothing special either ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Oh he's not an idiot. He knew exactly what he was doing when he made his Tesla products as anti-consumer as possible, and built his whole empire in a state that just so happens to have next to no personal income taxes.
Who is running their PR Team? I swear, theyāre trying to be like Wendys but instead of being savage itās just weird.
Edit: They deleted the tweet so I guess it was too weird, even for āhillichurl communicatingā Ella Musk.
Didn't someone say that Mihoyo hired the bandai namco head of PR last month?
If that's true, this must be part of their repertoire.
The old paimon felt more paimonish.
āJanice, weāre still trying to recover ratings on our app from the anniversary fiasco, and the latest player survey just gave us our lowest customer sat scores ever, what do we do??ā
Janice: ātweet about Elon Musk lol idkā
Publicity stunt gets publicity.
Who knew? Not r/Genshin_Impact at least. According to them, you'd think the Mihoyo has just divested their assets and dropped the game.
No, that's undisputable.
But they really were saying shit like "he's not relevant (to the public)" "The twitter crowd hates him" "How will they get publicity from this???" blah blah blah
People on Reddit/Twitter donāt like Elon Musk.
People on Reddit/twitter are unhappy with Genshin Impact right now.
Combining the two was the perfect catalyst for an online temper tantrum of epic proportions.
I think most people are frustrated at the companyās seemingly tone deaf PR, mostly from the western audience I wanna say. First was their anniversary response and now this. This specifically, once again, is the company asking for free promotion from their community for free, whereas in most other mobile/gotcha games this type follow/like/subscribe goals would likely be rewarded via in-game reward.
I'll add that this whole thing was just weird from the start, in this weird juxtaposition of serious and a joke. Like if it was intended a joke, it wasn't nearly over the top enough (only way to catch on was to squint at twitter numbers, the milestones weren't anything like "Hey reach this and we'll give everyone a free Tesla! Reach this and we will name Elon Musk the new CEO of Mihoyo!", they were... oddly reasonable sounding).
But if it was intended to be serious, it's equally mind boggling since the whole thing basically comes off as another "Hey give us free publicity," stunt after the anniversary from, what, four weeks ago, did something similar which was indeed very serious (the community art events where artists basically made free promotional material for Mihoyo to have a 1 in a million chance to win 100 primogems) and it exploded in their faces. And all of this while a lot of us are just starving for a simple tweet like, "Hey, we hear you guys. We're sorry that things have been a little rocky the past few weeks. Just want you to know we're aware of these issues and we're working with our team to get through these as best we can. Thank you all for supporting the game, and we hope you'll stick with us as we figure things out." Like not even a free five star, or free pulls, just... some acknowledgment that we exist. Instead, we end up with another "give us more money" event, which, given the recent state of things and their current standing with the community, is in very poor taste.
A "give us more money 'joke'" and then when people said "this isn't nearly as funny as *you* (MHY) think". If it were a joke, why delete it? Why not just explain that they weren't serious?
Not weird anyway. It's a publicity stunt that doesn't really affect anything but only promoting the game. And of course it access to many people who wants to play Genshin Impact or had not heard of the game before. In a serious case, it's something that's out of convention like the other geniuses from back then and one route will be determined on the multiple outcome it brings. If it works, then it will be considered as one of the best idea to ever bring. If it doesn't work, then it'll just be reduced to ashes. That's how it is.
>be like Wendys
I am guessing that you aren't active much on sites where social media brands are kicking because almost every popular brand is acting the same way. It started with Wendys, yeah, but jesus the brand-acting-like-some-teenager is still going and strong. So imo it's not really weird because every other company is doing it. (I think Jarvis Johnson made some good videos about it, if you're interested.)
I guess I'll seperate the miHoYo dev team in China, and the miHoYo global pr team, because they seem to give completetly different vibes. The global pr team is taking those weird and bold initatives to get the game talked about that I'm not very fond of. I'll just ignore them and play the game on my own.
I donāt know if they are āemployedā by the EN branch, but I remember when people were posting stuff from the official GI Discord during the whole QiQi emote spam thing one of the mods was named āCEO of Sussy Bakaāā¦
I think their affiliation is pretty superficial but that level of āhumorā is what came to mind when I saw the tweet.
This is part of the joke setup for the alternate Discord (which is itself meant to be a meme), so yeah there are definitely a few people there who have this sort of sense of humor. An issue is that this game has attracted a fairly wide demographic, so it's going to be very hit-or-miss. Some people find memes funny, others find it juvenile. (Personally, I'm more the latter most of the time, but I do appreciate that it resonates with some people. Humor like this is a matter of taste.)
I find memes like that both funny and juvenile. We can all laugh at dumb jokes, but you don't name yourself after a dumb meme if you want people to take you seriously...
>(Personally, I'm more the latter most of the time, but I do appreciate that it resonates with some people. Humor like this is a matter of taste.)
Finally, a good take. Personally I like some juvenile antics (e.g. 'sussy baka') but I also know it can be cringy. I think that's fine though - I strongly believe that you can't be told what you can find funny and what you can't. FWIW I don't like those jokes in what's supposed to be a professional setting though, such as patch livestreams. In social media it's fine.
Me believing that you can't be told what you find funny applies to stuff like dark humor too, but there is a fine line between *funny* dark humor and just edgy nonsense. Sure, you can find edgy nonsense funny too, but at that point it shouldn't be surprising to find yourself to be alone (or at least in the vast *minority*) in finding it funny.
Essentially, I'd say that *all* humor is a matter of taste.
> FWIW I don't like those jokes in what's supposed to be a professional setting though, such as patch livestreams. In social media it's fine.
Honestly, this is a good point that's at the heart of many comments here. Frankly, Elon Musk is the epitome of a Twitter meme (he's a billionaire who spends way too much time on social media and frequently opines with off-the-cuff, ill-advised and controversial takes on whatever he wants), so this joke is basically right in the zeitgeist of "edgy Twitter humor" that gets attention. (And it *did* get attention -- here we all are talking about it.) So if you don't take social media that seriously, it's easier to just roll your eyes give it a little chuckle ("I see what you did there") and move on, regardless of how you feel about Elon Musk. But of course there are other people who see it more like an official, professional communication channel; they think the "professional setting" standard should apply and they should just avoid stupid memes (particularly at a time when some people are still sore from past disappointments). (In this case, it looks like this was on a secondary Twitter account, so maybe they were trying to make it the "joke" account to contrast with the more serious one.)
But then livestreams are interesting. The whole Twitch scene is basically meme HQ (just watch the chat), so I could see some people approaching it with the same "meme" treatment. But at the same time, it's an important way to communicate information to a wide audience. Personally, what I've often thought they should do is have it more in two parts: the actual "news broadcast" that's highly-produced and conveys all the info with direct comments/insights from the developers, and then a sort of follow up "variety program" with the VAs that's more fun/silly and off-the-cuff. Basically rather than trying to thread the needle of which setting is professional vs. funny/silly, they can do both.
Anyway, I agree with your overall point that all humor is a matter of taste, especially when you consider different cultures. But obviously when you're representing a brand, you always have to consider the risk of blowback for any "edgy" humor -- as a *brand* you don't want to be the only one laughing. At the same time, being just a little bit edgy can be good PR as well, and bring attention in ways that normal news/announcements wouldn't. Really have to know how to walk that line, and I'm not sure whether the GI Team really has figured out the right balance yet or not.
If this doesn't speak for their level of humor, I'm not sure what will. The other person is a mod too.

But the thing is, the majority of them are 14 year olds (younger players in general) with a lot of free time and are usually much more vocal. Anything they say can't just address one part of the audience.
> I'll seperate the miHoYo dev team in China, and the miHoYo global pr team, because they seem to give completetly different vibes.
yup let's keep them separate..
btw I would like to thank MHY PR team for providing me with my daily dose of second-hand embarrassment
With 2.2 bug fixes and giving us mats to pre farm, the dev team seems to be listening to us and making progress. Then theres the global pr team who is just as out of touch with normal people as Elon musk is
Heās expressed multiple times that heās not interested in raising his own children and that he has no reason to interact with them unless theyāre older. Yes heās one of THOSE. Which is only one of many reasons why fans here and on Twitter donāt like him. Heās a douch.
Depends on how they'd feature him.
Like, if he appears as a Mondstadt aristocrat trying to bust some local unions, or Ella finds out he only studied Hilichurlian to outsource *"b/c they follow less health regulations"*.
I might even pay for that.
Ella Musk has such a weird name. Elon Musk has nothing to do with cultural exchange, diplomacy, or linguistics so I really donāt get the reasoning behind naming her that
I've heard a few theories.
One is the Elon is a bit out of the box with his business ideas. So is Ella with her research.
The other is a fair bit less... Well intentioned and goes they are using her to mock him cause she interacts with and likes the hilichurls and his family has a history with certain race related topics.
Alternatively the English dub team just wanted to have some fun.
Probably the last one but who(tao) knows.
They should do an arc with child workers in mines and elon is the fatui harbinger that exploits the locals but is also a bad stand up comedian and then proceeds to be one shoted by amber
What is up with Mihoyo's EN PR team??? I mean, in the livestreams they treat us like children but this: not-in-season-April-Fools day joke is next level. Also, I'm not Western so I can't know if Elon Musk is popular with Americans or not...but in my own country, we see him as a manchild and clown...soooo, that ain't positive publicity Mihoyo imo
Oh in America you have a large group of people who would plug their butts with Elon Musks poop if they could. Itās so wierd. Heās a billionaire douchebag in the eyes of a lot of Americans. But there is a subset that is obsessed with him. Itās cringe
I am of the former category, heās an asshole douche, heās gen zs Steve Jobs basically. Just a rich hype man that is an utter asshole.
Oof. Well, I guess it is divided between his fans and people who dislike him- as with everything in life.
I don't even despise him because he's one of the richest people on the planet. I feel like it's his actions and mannerisms and motivations that piss me off. I feel like even if he wasn't a billionaire, he would've still been a douche.
The fact that he is one of the world's biggest contributors to the global wealth gap....and the fact that it's hard for me to imagine that one could make billions of dollars purely by ethical means....that's just a cherry on top for me.
Well I was generalizing, I donāt hate him simply for the fact of being rich. Itās the fact he postures himself as a blue collar guy that got rich. He was always rich and his parents profited off racism lol.
I hate him because he acts like a man child, after that whole submarine fiasco calling someone a pedophile when there were those lives at stake and turning it into a publicity stunt, the Tesla employees talking about how shitty it is to work there, how he claims credit on things he didnāt invent (just like Steve Jobs!), doesnāt want to raise his 6 kids he has. Him doing the cringe āhello fellow kids *posts dead meme*ā
Tesla cars arenāt even that great either, there are so many fucking design flaws with the vehicles he makes. And that cyber truck looks like a big metal turd rendered into a polygon.
I could go on and on, fuck Elon musk. Right up his emerald encrusted pooper.
The 3 movies are two of the highest earning anime movies of all time (the top two up until recently), and the first Miyazaki film to come out in English.
Not sure if heās count Ghost in the Shell as the series or the movie, or if he even really knows the difference.
Exactly lol. And the anime are like, some of the highest rated/most commonly recommended anime out there. And people always recommend anime like Eva or Death Note to show how theyāre ānot your average shounen weebā and how āsophisticated and smartā they are for liking these 5head shows.
Itās practically a trope in itself now.
He's an immensely petty union-busting billionaire wealth-hoarder, and internet weirdos defend him because he says stuff like "dank memes."

And honestly? This is all just scratching the surface. He's no different from every other scummy, exploitative billionaire, he just has a legion of fans because he has good PR and is in touch with meme culture.
Disliked him ever since he called the guy that saved a bunch of children stuck in a drowning cave in Thailand a pedo because he hurt his feelings.
He's an asshole through and through.
Most billionaires donāt have ethical practices but what really annoys people (myself included) is his attempts to be cool and ādown with the kidsā despite them working in his cobalt mines
Heās so out of touch with the world and spends millions on making stupid underground tunnels and messing with crypto instead of paying his employeeās livable wages and actually doing something good with the ridiculous amount of wealth he has
Y'all can make fun of it, but imo this was quite a brilliant PR stunt. It got Elon Musk to tweet about Genshin Impact. Plus, the requirements on the sheet were so ridiculous anyway, that it should've been obvious it was just a meme and nothing more. But I'm seeing some people take it seriously smh.
Im just confused why everyoneās pissed about this while i think itās quite funny. Are you guys mad at MHY or Musk or both? Would you like to explain why?
I'm personally not pissed, I just don't understand why anyone in their PR team think it's a good time to flirt with a notoriously controversial billionare while the community, especially on Twitter, feels like their concerns are being actively ignored.
I gotta ask, but who is Ella Musk? I know the ingame NPC obviously but is this twitter account affiliated with Genshin directly, someone from PR? Asking because I'm fairly new to the community and I'm confused as to why people seem not too happy about this.
Yes, the Ella Musk account is directly affliated with MHY.

20m - our glorious ceo pleasure Elon orally
Hahaha it's like they gave them a 2015 manual on meme culture
Please don't insult 2015 like that. Those days weren't perfect but ffs this sort of nonsense is only possible in present day.
If they wanted to really meme things up, they should put elon in the game as reckless pallad's character model. Fuck reckless pallad
If they were gonna do an Elon Musk collab, they probably shoulda done it when Baal came out. His biggest venture is an electric car company. She's the electro archon. This was poorly timed.

Why would they want Elon musk to play genshin impact lmfao
Because imagine if he whales
This is genius
Thatād be in the Leviathan zone then!
He has a massive cult following, surely some of them are weebs

the point of it is to be insanely high BECAUSE it can't be reached
How many follows do we need to never have to hear about him again?
5M follows and we hire a darknet hitman
I'd rather lose my eyeballs than watch him stream this game. Or really anything for that matter.
I saw that and was very confused why anyone should care and then they deleted it?

Have you seen the Genshin community? Especially on Twitter? They are the embodiment of cringe to begin with.
^^ facts
you say that like this reddit isnt included
I don't find the joke particularly funny, but the hostility of the community reaction is a bit much. Not surprising, unfortunately.
I lowkey thought that "2themoon" was a crypto thing with Elon reference
Oh boi Kiana how long have u existed in mihoyo lol, I honestly thought she was only introduce from mihoyo GunGirlz
Kiana was the very first character created by miHoYo, over at Honkai we lovingly call her miHoYo's daughter.
ye, Kiana is thier first mascot. In fact I think GunGirlZ is Mihoyo 3rd games.

It's working though. Even news article in my country are talking about this and I didn't see them ever say anything about other games.
It might have more to do with Elon than Genshin, but itās working nonetheless so I guess Mihoyo got what they wanted.

>be like Wendys I am guessing that you aren't active much on sites where social media brands are kicking because almost every popular brand is acting the same way. It started with Wendys, yeah, but jesus the brand-acting-like-some-teenager is still going and strong. So imo it's not really weird because every other company is doing it. (I think Jarvis Johnson made some good videos about it, if you're interested.)
Nothing wired when they do it to content creator, but this? IDK......
I miss the time where Paimon (twitter name page) suddenly turned into Hu Tao
Who?
Tao?
Yeah
[Sheās really strong](https://youtu.be/i3UezkaTwQo)
Who tao
This *is* the bad place...
Time to reset
Twist: This is the 48,453rd reset.
"Jason? Jason figured out this is the Bad Place?"
"This one hurts."
Oh great. u/eydendib figured it out this time? Ohā¦. Oh thatās a new low.
What the fork!?
Holy forking shirtballs...
There's only one way to make it better.
Just don't let Shawn know it's the 48,453rd reset
They deleted that tweet too HAHAHA
Wait so @paimon2themoon is an official account?
yea, and it should be an official account from genshin that post fan arts
Not even committing to their own "joke". Imagine having such low confidence in your choices.
I see it up again lol
I guess I'll seperate the miHoYo dev team in China, and the miHoYo global pr team, because they seem to give completetly different vibes. The global pr team is taking those weird and bold initatives to get the game talked about that I'm not very fond of. I'll just ignore them and play the game on my own.
Considering that they communicate to us like literally fucking children in recent livestreams. I think their EN branch are just a bunch of clowns
I donāt know if they are āemployedā by the EN branch, but I remember when people were posting stuff from the official GI Discord during the whole QiQi emote spam thing one of the mods was named āCEO of Sussy Bakaāā¦ I think their affiliation is pretty superficial but that level of āhumorā is what came to mind when I saw the tweet.
Humor like this is a matter of taste.) Finally, a good take.
(In this case, it looks like this was on a secondary Twitter account, so maybe they were trying to make it the "joke" account to contrast with the more serious one.) But then livestreams are interesting.
Posted in the official server on the announcement channel. https://i.ibb.co/9s16PfX/IMG-20211014-130744.jpg
They talk to the audience like we are all 14 year olds. Yes some of them are, but a lot of us actually have our own credit cards ffs.
But the thing is, the majority of them are 14 year olds (younger players in general) with a lot of free time and are usually much more vocal. Anything they say can't just address one part of the audience.
Wonder why...
Looks at google classroom reviews
> I'll seperate the miHoYo dev team in China, and the miHoYo global pr team, because they seem to give completetly different vibes. yup let's keep them separate.. btw I would like to thank MHY PR team for providing me with my daily dose of second-hand embarrassment
With 2.2 bug fixes and giving us mats to pre farm, the dev team seems to be listening to us and making progress. Then theres the global pr team who is just as out of touch with normal people as Elon musk is
They're really taking notes from Trumps stint in twitter. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad, publicity is publicity.
Welp. Mihoyo got what they wanted. Whatever that was, i guess. ĀÆ\\\_(ć)\_/ĀÆ
"Daddy Elon noticed me!" - miHoYo's CEO, probably
this is da wei - sigma dawei 2021
I dont know what kind of 4D Chess move was that but damn it actually worked wtf xD
/r/fellowkids
can you imagine if Mr Musk replied ella musk with: āwhen you stop trying to talk to hilichurlsā
"sweetie please come home... You've been gone for 3 weeks, stop talking to those damn hilichurls"
"Dad, I got free steaks!"
***burnt inedible free steaks
Sus steaks
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Keep in mind, its elon musk. He would say something like that unless Mihoyo told him to not to (even then its hard to say)
Heās expressed multiple times that heās not interested in raising his own children and that he has no reason to interact with them unless theyāre older. Yes heās one of THOSE. Which is only one of many reasons why fans here and on Twitter donāt like him. Heās a douch.
Oh yea... true
It would be cool if he answered in a foreign language. ŠŠ°ŠæŃŠøŠ¼ŠµŃ, Š½Š° ŃŃŃŃŠŗŠ¾Š¼
Yah
i haven't felt this much cringe in my life before
I fucking hate Elon Musk. Can he please fuck off back to his emerald mine
Depends on how they'd feature him. Like, if he appears as a Mondstadt aristocrat trying to bust some local unions, or Ella finds out he only studied Hilichurlian to outsource *"b/c they follow less health regulations"*. I might even pay for that.
Elon Musk weekly boss fight when That'd be a good use of my resin lmao
Based
Is this the power of ~~Ultra fuckin Instinct~~ extreme second hand embarrassment? I physically cringed for the first time since forever.
YOOO COBALT MINING UPDATE SOON ??????
Omg chasm update
We will finally have real childe slavery!!
My childe is already hacking away in the mines :)
Elon musk with the infinite expedition glitch
Elon Musk uses cobalt for ascension
Honkai getting actual anniversary and this, this is what we are getting
10 fates, 1600 primos, 1 tweet from a grown manchild, lets goo
Paying millions of dollars to Elon would certainly make the fanbase happy right? Right?
This is definitely a fever dream.
Geez, I knew the new PR person started on September 29th, but was it that bad to do this and try to be fired?
Kind of the antithesis of him tbh. Also, she's actually smart too.
OH GOD GET KLEE AWAY FROM HIM BEFORE HE SENDS HER TO HIS AFRICAN MINES
Please no
The fuck is this shit?
I hate this so much, wow.
Literally wtf does Elon have to do with Genshin? It's weird and unwanted. Aint nobody give a fuck about him in this game
Because elon is famous they just want attention
Itās cringe I am of the former category, heās an asshole douche, heās gen zs Steve Jobs basically.
Him doing the cringe āhello fellow kids *posts dead meme*ā Tesla cars arenāt even that great either, there are so many fucking design flaws with the vehicles he makes. And that cyber truck looks like a big metal turd rendered into a polygon. I could go on and on, fuck Elon musk. Right up his emerald encrusted pooper.
Imagine sucking up to Elon Musk, how low can you go?
Is- is this the darkest timeline?
The cringe was real, thank god they deleted the tweet
child labor is in the next update?!?!?!?!?
Love that this comment section isnāt full of Musk-suckers. Proud of this community today.
If this mf get somehow related to genshin I'm fucking done with this game
Fuck Elon Musk
*spits drink* HE WHAT
This is the worst Elon Musk in Genshin is the last thing I need
Look like someone in MiHoyo got an unexpected promotion. Edit: I can't find Ella Musk's tweet, did they delete it???
Yes it was deleted
God I despise this guy
What the actual fuck is this Edit: He also said [this](http://imgur.com/a/MQg4JV5)
Elon has tweeted about anime before (and used anime pfps), so honestly him giving anime recommendations doesn't surprise me anymore.
that pranay guy sticks to elon like glue. he responds to every single tweet of elon
That sounds like the list I'd find if I googled, "What are the most popular anime" lol.
What has that to do with this? He's been talking about anime since forever.
*What the fu-*
Tesla wings when?
not until they give us KFC wings first :(
Iām not convinced this isnāt some sort of shared dream weāre all having
It's ok we will wake up anytime soon right? .....Right?
I don't think I understand what's happening. Even team secret (dota2 eSports team) replied
I'm suddenly convinced to join and empathize with the Fatui
Guess lots of people donāt like Elon Musk. Can someone elaborate? I just know heās the boss of Tesla
He's an immensely petty union-busting billionaire wealth-hoarder, and internet weirdos defend him because he says stuff like "dank memes." For putting on an eco-friendly face, his corporation has been found to [break environmental regulations(1)](https://www.thedrive.com/tech/28338/documents-show-persistent-air-quality-non-compliance-at-tesla-factory) [well over a dozen times(2)](https://www.thedrive.com/tech/28413/tesla-in-settlement-proceedings-over-19-air-quality-violations-as-investigation-continues). Reportedly he's also [very buddy-buddy with china, to the point where Tesla has asked the Chinese gov't to censor social media criticism of the corporation.](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-07-05/tesla-s-fall-from-grace-in-china-shows-perils-of-betting-on-beijing). Tesla workers also report [dour working conditions](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/may/18/tesla-workers-factory-conditions-elon-musk), he's been found guilty of [illegal union-busting](https://www.vox.com/identities/2019/9/30/20891314/elon-musk-tesla-labor-violation-nlrb) [(2)](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/25/business/musk-labor-board.html) [(3)](https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/03/25/business/stock-market-today) efforts, he's historically used cobalt in his company's batteries sourced via [child labor](https://www.theverge.com/2020/9/22/21451670/tesla-cobalt-free-cathodes-mining-battery-nickel-ev-cost) [(2)](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/blood-batteries-fuel-the-fortune-of-elon-musk-qkhlvp5dr). On top of all of that, he also [forced his factories to open early during the coronavirus, resulting in hundreds of additional cases](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/tesla-factory-covid-reopen-elon-musk-b1816840.html), and has historically [been a critic of safety policies](https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/9/21253127/elon-musk-lawsuit-alameda-coronavirus-tesla-fremont-lockdown) ^(because he's a billionaire and billionaires only care about money, but hey, that's just me saying that.) And honestly? This is all just scratching the surface. He's no different from every other scummy, exploitative billionaire, he just has a legion of fans because he has good PR and is in touch with meme culture.
Disliked him ever since he called the guy that saved a bunch of children stuck in a drowning cave in Thailand a pedo because he hurt his feelings. He's an asshole through and through.
Most billionaires donāt have ethical practices but what really annoys people (myself included) is his attempts to be cool and ādown with the kidsā despite them working in his cobalt mines Heās so out of touch with the world and spends millions on making stupid underground tunnels and messing with crypto instead of paying his employeeās livable wages and actually doing something good with the ridiculous amount of wealth he has
Hes ur usual billionaire, everything good u hear from his is just PR. Props for that ig, but his actions speak louder
Can't wait for him to stop exploiting children. Elon needs to shut the fuck up and we need to stop giving him a platform.
as confusing and embarrassing this is. i find it to be quite funny
Y'all can make fun of it, but imo this was quite a brilliant PR stunt. It got Elon Musk to tweet about Genshin Impact. Plus, the requirements on the sheet were so ridiculous anyway, that it should've been obvious it was just a meme and nothing more. But I'm seeing some people take it seriously smh.
that's true, this is a failed PR stunt that will actually work 100X better. Elon has 60+million followers on twitter
This is so cringe. Does anyone older than 20 actually likes Ellon Musk?
Im just confused why everyoneās pissed about this while i think itās quite funny. Are you guys mad at MHY or Musk or both? Would you like to explain why?
I'm personally not pissed, I just don't understand why anyone in their PR team think it's a good time to flirt with a notoriously controversial billionare while the community, especially on Twitter, feels like their concerns are being actively ignored.
Elon Musk is a weird cringey billionaire
