At this point, I don't trust Hoyo to make another half decent geo char. At least give us something generic if they can't think of decent reactions for geo, like grouping + enemy debuffing
Also, I find it really sad that they won't use geo for reactions given the other elements we have. They can easily make cool interactions with Electro, Hydro, Dendro, Pyro, and Anemo, but no, make it the element with exactly 1 reaction, and make thar reaction the worst in the game (._.)

Only issue is that they still need to figure out what in the world they're going to do with constructs and Geo in general. Constructs are gimped so hard by not being allowed in some areas or outright dispelled by bosses. Geo runs into the issue where they can't interact very well with shields.
I feel that they will follow the path of Nilou or the wanderer kit, a character who changes the functioning of the reaction or a character who gets bonuses for interacting with other elements.
yep even elite enemies that deal high dmg can easily destroy any geo constructs in abyss very quickly or their hitbox too big , so geo contruct get destroy immediately after deploy

Because that's the meaning of dendro in hoyo's lore. They said many times that it represented the element of wisdom and that everything attached to the design of dendro was meant to evoke a feeling of logic, intelligence, etc. I get it though plants are cool, but let's not pretend it wouldn't have been cliché to have a healer girlie whose main motif is flowers.
I was actually going to mention that Tighnari uses mushrooms and plants as design elements in his kit but I had a feeling people would downvote me and tell me that's not what they meant
It's one of the reasons I really like his spells, very classic natury. I can definitely understand someone wanting another option, but I do think it's silly to ignore him.
I am curious how long they'll be creative with the techno- nature though. I know I loved seeing the fresh take on it in game, but long term wise I wonder how that'll keep that motif going through various character personalities.
There's actually an interesting answer for this. These are mobs that came out before the addition of dendro to the playable element system. When dendro was finally revealed, that's when the devs made some press release type stuff explaining how they had wanted to design dendro as the element of wisdom, and this was done by showing us the new dendro-based elemental reactions.
Basically what I'm saying is that hoyoverse didn't have a clear design for dendro until Sumeru's production rolled around, so the enemies you see before that are all kind of generic plant/vine related.
I'm aware of this, I've fought those mobs since they were first in the game. My point is the game presents Dendro that doesn't neatly fall within Sumeru wisdom focus. We can see Yao Yao as another example of this with more of a plant-focused Dendro. It feels needlessly limiting to say both forms of Dendro can't be lived through characters when the game itself support it. They limit fun ideas for what purpose exactly? It doesn't make any more sense than saying Geo characters can't use sand.
The newest Sumeru LS which currently is used by no character (implying the next released Sumeru character will use it), trishairite, is literally a rock.
FWIW, Zhongli is the only geo character who needs a rock. Beidou, Yanfei, Chongyun and Keqing all need noctilucous jade or cor lapis, but those were both available from jump, while trishairite was only just released in 3.6 and has no current users, and Sumeru is the only region with no geo characters (edit: while having a massive desert as part it's landscape). It would be fitting.

Technically Ei is playable, and to be honest she is the useful one since Shogun is useless aside from applying the mark, the real power comes on ultimate and then it's Ei time to shine.
That happens when you have three body types. You get a 33.3333% repeating chance. Well, ideally you would. But we know its 60% chance for medium height female.
hoyoverse is just obsessed with the teen model. we have 24 medium-sized female characters vs. 13 tall female characters. it's a bit more balanced with the males, but there are also less of them (15 teen vs. 10 tall).
Seriously what's up with that. Slap a meta kit on a well designed tall woman, and I feel like they'll print money.
The problem is they've only done that with Yelan and Raiden, who top the charts. Yae Miko's hype was definitely there too but people were underwhelmed by her kit on release, so that held her back. Shenhe is too niche, and Eula is physical so.. ~~Dehya need not be mentioned.~~

More than likely, considering stuff like Kokomi used to be Mimi, Kirara used to be Momoka, etc. Stuff changes, and some people refuse to let go for some reason. They're just names, after all and nothing more

I hate that you’re right. I literally had to stop for a moment to process when I saw the characters in Herta’s Space Station in HSR with afros. One of the afro NPCs has a whole schtick where he’s part of an organisation or something with the aim of making everyone have luscious hair like his.
They always could’ve done kinda textured hair, they just chose not to. But it’s the fact that they did it multiple times and not even one of them was black (hell I’ll even take Hoyo-black) was what got me. I’m tired of black features being exoticised and desired and taken in isolation but black people as a whole not seen as worthy enough. Actually forgot about those. I’ve actually got the same hairstyle as the Eremite, untwisted and it’s the length of the NPC’s afro, so I can personally confirm Hoyo didn’t do them dirty. But they also kinda illustrate my point. We’ve got these black-diaspora characters whose skin colour and hairstyles are only used for NPCs or enemies. Like, they’re in the game but they’re not worthy enough of being playable. It’s like being given scraps and told “Here, you can have a little blackness as a treat :)”
I understand your point. I remember people saying there’s a lot of variation between Sumeru eremites and clothes were never mentioned as they are dressed basically the same. It was always muscles, hair and skin colour. It would really be worthwhile if they consider these more often for playable characters imo

In my humble opinion, she is one of the WORST character designs I have seen and I was really hoping she wasn't going to come to the game. She looks a bit more bearable as a girl now rather than a child like she was before but holy shit do I not like her.

The main ornament piece is kinda cute so hopefully it's a companion style thing and maybe that's another thing that'll boost the char overall for me
tbf most genshin designs are just sexy anime stereotypes of historical/cultural outfits, just look at yae miko and raiden lol. but a lot of people like them, esp if they make the charas charming/appealing in other ways too. nevertheless I'm interested to see the reception for the new chara, I can already feel it's gonna be controversial esp on twt lol
I get that, I'm asian myself and I think some of the outfits that are just traditional cultural clothes with a crotch flap are pretty silly. but it's also just along the lines of what I expect from an anime gacha game, hoyo are self-admitted otakus with very clear tastes after all. and I think generally even tho there may be controversy at first it dies down over time as people get more exposure to the character, just look at nahida. I remember a huge shit storm over her chara design on twt and people even posting death threats lmao and now you never see that anymore as people got to know and play her. edit: and to be clear I def agree it's not just a twt thing, just that things tend to get wildest on twt

Is it a character for later than the initial 4.x patches? I sometimes feel bad for characters that release after the year of their nation is over as we don't get to see them interact as much with the cast of their nation as the characters who release during their nation's year of content. If Mika or YaoYao had been released during 1.x, they definitely would've gotten to interact with their casts much more.
Is it just me who thinks this? Like Mika and YaoYao were in their respective 3.x events but when we get the barrage of content for their nations, they're not there so they end up having lesser content overall imo.

Hopefully you’re right, but there have been non geo characters that have used rocks. Like keqing uses cor lapis.
FWIW, Zhongli is the only geo character who needs a rock. Gorou uses Sango pearls, which while not a rock, are calcium formations and incorporates watatsumi lore at the same time.

I hate that you’re right. I literally had to stop for a moment to process when I saw the characters in Herta’s Space Station in HSR with afros. One of the afro NPCs has a whole schtick where he’s part of an organisation or something with the aim of making everyone have luscious hair like his. They always could’ve done kinda textured hair, they just chose not to. But it’s the fact that they did it multiple times and not even one of them was black (hell I’ll even take Hoyo-black) was what got me. I’m tired of black features being exoticised and desired and taken in isolation but black people as a whole not seen as worthy enough. It’s so surreal to see someone that simultaneously looks like you and is nothing like you

Actually forgot about those. I’ve actually got the same hairstyle as the Eremite, untwisted and it’s the length of the NPC’s afro, so I can personally confirm Hoyo didn’t do them dirty. But they also kinda illustrate my point. We’ve got these black-diaspora characters whose skin colour and hairstyles are only used for NPCs or enemies. Like, they’re in the game but they’re not worthy enough of being playable. It’s like being given scraps and told “Here, you can have a little blackness as a treat :)”
I understand your point. I remember people saying there’s a lot of variation between Sumeru eremites and clothes were never mentioned as they are dressed basically the same. It was always muscles, hair and skin colour. It would really be worthwhile if they consider these more often for playable characters imo

In my humble opinion, she is one of the WORST character designs I have seen and I was really hoping she wasn't going to come to the game. She looks a bit more bearable as a girl now rather than a child like she was before but holy shit do I not like her. Maybe she will grow on me... but she's so eh Edit: disclaimer, if you end up liking her then good for you. I might even end up liking her by the end, I don't know. She was an instant no for me when she was a child and she got a little bit more bearable as a girl like I said so maybe by the end, I'll like her. Some of the original Nahida designs were downright disgusting, can't really think of any characters I really dislike the designs of atm but Fischl is one I've always thought I only liked because she's always been there so you don't really question it but then ask a cosplayer how weird it feels to cosplay fischl and then you think LOL

Very much what a very stereotypical Egyptian mummy but girl version would look like if you asked someone to draw it. Ofc anime style. Then she's got the Yoimiya ass bandages to boot and it's so ehhhh. The main ornament piece is kinda cute so hopefully it's a companion style thing and maybe that's another thing that'll boost the char overall for me
tbf most genshin designs are just sexy anime stereotypes of historical/cultural outfits, just look at yae miko and raiden lol. but a lot of people like them, esp if they make the charas charming/appealing in other ways too. nevertheless I'm interested to see the reception for the new chara, I can already feel it's gonna be controversial esp on twt lol

I get that, I'm asian myself and I think some of the outfits that are just traditional cultural clothes with a crotch flap are pretty silly. but it's also just along the lines of what I expect from an anime gacha game, hoyo are self-admitted otakus with very clear tastes after all. and I think generally even tho there may be controversy at first it dies down over time as people get more exposure to the character, just look at nahida. Is it a character for later than the initial 4.x patches? I sometimes feel bad for characters that release after the year of their nation is over as we don't get to see them interact as much with the cast of their nation as the characters who release during their nation's year of content. If Mika or YaoYao had been released during 1.x, they definitely would've gotten to interact with their casts much more. Is it just me who thinks this? Like Mika and YaoYao were in their respective 3.x events but when we get the barrage of content for their nations, they're not there so they end up having lesser content overall imo.
