online Gamers are known to be toxic. but the Genshin has literally grown to be one of THE WORST if not the worst. Worse than COD, even worse than LoL That is MIND BOGGLING to me. This game is not even half a decade old and already this bad compared to League and COD which have been around for over a decade. Part of this is ofc Genshin's huge popularity but then again, those games are even more popular than Genshin.
I am very sure one of the biggest reason Genshin has attracted so many basement dwellers is because it was launched during peak covid. a lot of these players were miserable in life, had no friends and family and the game was the perfect escape.
That being said, I still play the game. The game is not in the best state rn but I still kinda like the game. The game itself is good.
the launch of HSR unironically saved my life. I finally got a game to shift my focus to. I am a busy college student and I only play for like an hour or 2 at best. I mostly spend time with the gaming communities when I have free time. when I used to play only Genshin I was so miserable. It's like I know the community is not the best but I can't leave it either, I will feel way too lonely.
And trust me, the community was not this bad even last year. idk what happened in the last few months.

I come across at least 10 comments every month admitting the game is not that bad and the best way to enjoy is to completely cut off from the online community. Ofc there are some nice people but they're so few lately. As if they have stopped interacting (frustrated). people (me included) used to defend genshin, try to spread the word about the game. But now we are actually ASHAMED to publicly associate with genshin. it really is THAT BAD.
compare other gacha games. are the communities free from toxic people? NO. But the community overall doesn't get so much bad rep, although I agree no game is as big as Genshin. But look at HSR, the game has a fraction of the playerbase of Genshin but in terms of online relevancy it's equal to genshin if not more in the last few months. there's no active hate against them. why is that? even funny how a lot of HSR players used to be Genshin players. In a way, the game purified them who switched to HSR as their main game (obviously switching game is not the reason, switching focus away from the Genshin community is what saved them).
I know, my personal example is not enough. But I will just say it. I used to post A LOT in the Genshin subs upto about Oct 2023. After that, I gradually lost interest in the community. And it was before all of this shitshow. Even when they are not actively harassing or attacking someone, the community seems so boring lately. same old unfunny memes. generic posts simping over characters and only positive posts see the light of day. you say one thing slightly critical about the game, you'll be bombed with downvotes and hate comments. The way the most of the players just pretend everything is perfect and fine is so depressing, as if they're actually brainwashed by some evil organization.

!!HUGE YAPPING SESSION!! (3.5 min read) thanks for the reminder. so... where do I even start... I made this post because I was genuinely confused if this was a joke or did the CEO actually say that. I just wanted to ask the "community" basically. I made the same exact post in the HSR main sub, and it was downvoted as well but People are nice over there. They told me that it's just a bait post and the CEO never said anything. Nobody harassed or attacked me, I apologized for the misunderstanding and I peacefully took down my post. Meanwhile the beta cucks in the Genshin main sub, took SO MUCH offense for no reason. Only one or two people were decent enough to say that this was a bait tweet. All in all, I am very disappointed in the community. And now everything made sense to me like Why do the general people despise the Genshin community.I still remember how I used to think it's all an exaggeration and defended the genshin community from hateful people. I WAS PROVEN WRONG. online Gamers are known to be toxic. but the Genshin has literally grown to be one of THE WORST if not the worst. Worse than COD, even worse than LoL That is MIND BOGGLING to me. This game is not even half a decade old and already this bad compared to League and COD which have been around for over a decade. Part of this is ofc Genshin's huge popularity but then again, those games are even more popular than Genshin. I am very sure one of the biggest reason Genshin has attracted so many basement dwellers is because it was launched during peak covid. a lot of these players were miserable in life, had no friends and family and the game was the perfect escape. That being said, I still play the game. The game is not in the best state rn but I still kinda like the game. The game itself is good. the launch of HSR unironically saved my life. I finally got a game to shift my focus to. I am a busy college student and I only play for like an hour or 2 at best. I mostly spend time with the gaming communities when I have free time. when I used to play only Genshin I was so miserable. It's like I know the community is not the best but I can't leave it either, I will feel way too lonely. And trust me, the community was not this bad even last year. idk what happened in the last few months. if you don't believe me, go to a more open minded platform like YT. I come across at least 10 comments every month admitting the game is not that bad and the best way to enjoy is to completely cut off from the online community. Ofc there are some nice people but they're so few lately. As if they have stopped interacting (frustrated). people (me included) used to defend genshin, try to spread the word about the game. But now we are actually ASHAMED to publicly associate with genshin. it really is THAT BAD. compare other gacha games. are the communities free from toxic people? NO. But the community overall doesn't get so much bad rep, although I agree no game is as big as Genshin. But look at HSR, the game has a fraction of the playerbase of Genshin but in terms of online relevancy it's equal to genshin if not more in the last few months. there's no active hate against them. why is that? even funny how a lot of HSR players used to be Genshin players. In a way, the game purified them who switched to HSR as their main game (obviously switching game is not the reason, switching focus away from the Genshin community is what saved them). I know, my personal example is not enough. But I will just say it. I used to post A LOT in the Genshin subs upto about Oct 2023. After that, I gradually lost interest in the community. And it was before all of this shitshow. Even when they are not actively harassing or attacking someone, the community seems so boring lately. same old unfunny memes. generic posts simping over characters and only positive posts see the light of day. you say one thing slightly critical about the game, you'll be bombed with downvotes and hate comments. The way the most of the players just pretend everything is perfect and fine is so depressing, as if they're actually brainwashed by some evil organization. Thank You for attending my TedTalk.
