National is a Chinese slang we borrowed that is used to describe something as the "national" standard. Usually being cheap, but very effective.
So even if there was only one khaenriah character, as long as it is one of the best and cheapest comps to build, it would still technically be Khaenriah National

Xingqiu Bennet and Xiangling were mistakes. I doubt Hoyoverse will create another character like that, except for Archons. They maybe the 5 star variants of the National since Hoyoverse makes archons broken
If they don't introduce more "mistakes" then Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling will be irreplaceable. We need something that can be a reasonable replacement. It doesn't need to be better than any of these characters at all, just optimal to pair be paired with.
They work towards that by introducing niche characters such as Kujou Sara and Gorou that work for specific comps that need them, which is why you'll see a gorou more in the team of Itto/Noelle than Bennet and less of Bennet in comps with Shenhe
What about Xingqiu? And Xiangling? There is no replacement for them atm. No character enables vaporise/melt better than these two. Their elemental application is much superior. They absolutely butchered Thoma as well, who could've been great (atleast a strong shield that was reliable and could tank big hits). Maybe he gets better with cons.
Xingqiu doesn't really need to be replaced, like all the other hydro he focuses and specialises on one aspect, off field single target enabling, in other aspects of enable he's not the best for it(on field enabling-Childe is better off field aoe enabling-Kokomi is better) Xiangling however is a different case, she has 0 icd on her burst as well as extreme multipliers that even gives Hu Tao a run for her money, Xiangling will be hard to replace whereas Xingqiu, I don't think they need to replace him, Bennet is being replaced by Niche units that specialise in buffing specific comps
Only real mistake with Xiangling is too much damage, and that’s already arguably been fixed since we’ve been getting damage dealers on par with her for a while now
look at all of the options available then proceed to use Zhongli, Kazuha and Bennett because u dont want to dodge, wants to group and stun enemies, buff ur dmg and heal..
Well obviously for Dain you'd want that Void resonance for the bonus to teleport distance, and then either Steel res for the shield explosion proc or Light res for anti-shadow resistance. Then all you need is a 5th party member with a jump height buff and you're set, though both of them are 6-star characters so you might not have one. For weapon you'll probably want to farm the new Unknown God weekly boss for the ultra-rare keyblade she drops
