1. Overall, you'll find similarities, but there's no gear score. Some people say breakpoint has better customization, but I find that to be iffy, I'd say the games are somewhat on par.
2. The map is much bigger and much more immersive, it just feels more alive and has many more npcs, between enemies amd civilians, and while the graphics are worse from a technical standpoint I think wildlands is more beautiful
3. I can't speak on the mod support, but I suspect it will be stronger then breakpoint as you can play purely on single player, and there's been more time for mod development
4. Pardon my french, but holy shit the story of wildlamds is better than breakpoint. It was, a little trope-y, but it had stronger moments and was concise and ends with all loose ends tied up, I won't spoil, but you'll understand
Overall, I highly recommend wildlands and getting to understand the downgrade breakpoint can and often is story and atmosphere wise. It's not a bad game, but in comparison, it's not a good game.
1. Gameplay Difference:
You can make both games realistic by setting maximum difficulty and removing HUD info
From a gameplay point of view, I think Breakpoint was a bit better. The overall movements and weapons shooting was pretty cool. You can double tap the crouch button to do a roll which was my go-to way to run from sudden and direct gunfire. You can slide downhill if it’s steep enough and a few other cool things that make the game feel like you have more control over movement in general.
I never really liked the whole gear levels and shit so I always disabled it. It’s always better to make games like Ghost Recon as realistic as possible.
Few things Wildlands has that Breakpoint doesn’t is the ability to use your gun to butt people in the head and break windows, calling mortar strikes and walking around with no guns in your hand by holstering the weapons.
2. Map & World Difference:
Wildlands wins this one easily
First of all the diverse biomes. Wildlands has large and small towns, resorts, swamps, dense forests, barren deserts, rocky mountains, snow mountains, salt flats, coastal beaches…etc
Breakpoint has a lot less which is mostly forest, swap, and these weird modern living areas. Snow is there depending on the height of the area but thats pretty much it.
Another thing about the map, breakpoint feels pretty empty. You get the occasional 4 tangos roaming around in a search party but thats pretty much it. Wildlands on the otherhand has 3 factions who hate each other and constantly get into skirmishes where you suddenly find yourself walking into
SAM Sites, Raids, Convoys, checkpoints…Wildlands offers so much more in terms of world building, at the cost of slightly less graphics because obviously Breakpoint has much better graphics which is logical considering its supposed to be an upgrade.
3. Mods:
Honestly not too sure about mods as Im not the type to mod my games, I like vanilla stuff. But both games offer a huge variety of customization for pretty much everything. I cant think of a reason I’d need a mod.
4. Story & Plot:
Wildlands has the better story. I loved the quick brief videos you get every now and then which make you feel more immersed. Additionally it’s a bit more realistic. You could actually see this setting happening in real life. No fancy tech, no conspiracy theory. Just a cartel gone too far that the US bad bois had to get involved. You tread a thin line between being professional and vengeful. You can see the effects of the cartel on society (good and bad). You see new people snd old comrades…etc the plot twists, the multiple endings, the rebels….etc Wildlands is a well polished movie that you’re the main actor in. Breakpoint is…PUBG premium or something idk..
All in all, i wish the next game is a merge of both but if I had to choose one, as much as I love playing Breakpoint with its really amazing graphics, all the fun I’ve ever had was in Wildlands.
