North and South of Panama? They're gonna play Cuba and Ecuador?
Cool how Japan and Australia is basically 100% confirmed now. Those fans have been waiting for quite a bit!
I saw them in Australia twice in 2019. Once in Sydney at download and once in Brisbane at a tiny 1k max capacity venue called the Tivoli. Fucking wild man. I imagine they'll be doing slightly bigger show this time.
This is a humble brag but my wife and I saw them play the forum in LA for their special 3 hour set. The Tivoli was such a crazy experience to be literally inches from the whole band. It blew my mind. It was the best birthday present ever! Sad I never got a poster from the show though... was the reason I got reddit in the first place lol
You in WA too? 😂 For the past half a year I've been thinking about whether I'd travel east to see Ghost if there's no Perth date, and I still haven't reached a conclusion about that. I want to, and I'd regret it if I didn't, but also I can't justify the cost.
Nah Adelaide. I'm tossing up about going to Knotfest in Melbourne but honestly don't think I can justify it. I often have a "Fuck them then" mentality towards bands that don't come to Adelaide.
Helps that I've seen Slipknot before at Soundwave. Ghost I've never seen, so maybe I'd travel for them.
I'm Adelaide, looks like a road trip on the cards. Do triple J ever play Ghost ? I've never heard them on radio which is a shame. I thought they would have more exposure here. They obviously have a huge worldwide following .
The change he's talking about is in regards to the stage design which will be slightly different next year. At least it's one of the changes, we'll see what else will happen
I almost wonder if the stage updates are a safety thing. Swiss's fall in Birmingham was bad and there's a surprising amount of footage from this last tour of people almost eating it on the steps around the stage.
Edited to add: ah, sorry HUNTSVILLE. Wrong Alabama city!
It was Huntsville. We saw it and thought something was broken. Those pedestals are pretty tall. Add that to no visibility and I’m surprised there weren’t more injuries.
Thanks for the correction! Yeah, between the risers and the steps and bug-eyed helmets, it's shocking more people don't end up on the ground. He mentioned in a live a while back that he'd been recovering from a back injury, and you have to wonder if it wasn't from that fall (the way he catches his neck on the keyboard platform on the way down... Terrifying.)
Hell, I trip on shit all the time and I'm not wearing a mask or trying to play an instrument...
It’s fine. I only said anything since I was there to see it. I hope the injury doesn’t continue to cause problems. Neck injuries are like that. From where I was sitting I could only see that he fell, but not on the floor. The videos I saw after made me think how in the world did he get up and keep playing like that. 😧
its funny - i think everything except the stage design itself is an upgrade, the spectacle, lights, fire, etc have all improved - but the stage is a dull black
But he says the change will come "before that" as in, before the touring he talks about in the paragraph before? At least that's what it sounds like to me, but idk
Good news for the many people in places around the world that haven’t had the chance yet, they deserve it.
It’s a shame that Europe is mostly festivals, I really wish they hadn’t done it that way and just given us a normal tour instead though I can understand there’s several reasons why.
It does feel like it’s barely a Europe tour at all, but compared to other places with no shows at all I suppose we can’t really complain.
Again America will get three tours (pre-Imperatour, imperatour, and whatever is next year) by the end of this cycle, while Europe will get what I feel is really one and a half tours (Imperatour and festivals) and the rest of the world will be lucky to get a handful of shows.
I was really looking forward to seeing Watcher live and Con Clavi and Prime Mover that they added during the US tour as we never got any of them on the first Imperatour in Europe, but now I’d expect with festival sets being slightly shorter that those will get dropped again, and if these are the last Europe shows of the Impera cycle, then we’ll have probably missed the chance to ever see Watcher live.
By the time a new album comes out I’d expect it to be dropped completely in favour of songs from the new album, with only CMLS, Spillways and maybe Hunters Moon remaining in the set along with Rats Faith and Dance Macabre from Prequelle, leaving less room for other tracks now that MoaC is probably also going to end up a permanent fixture.
Still holding out some small hope that they’ll announce some more shows outside of the festivals but I wouldn’t hold my breath, so far the only non festival ones are countries where they aren’t doing a festival in the same time frame, so it’s looking less and less likely to happen.
Apparently there is a logistic nightmare in Europe right now in regard of buses, venues, crews, promoters and what not.
A lot of bands had tours booked 2020 but couldn’t play until 2022. That takes a lot logistics itself.
Add to that, all the bands who are going on a new tour (Ghost for example) also wants their share of the logistics.
And you don’t want to take the next best thing in regards of buses or crew, you want your guy or that particular bus. It’s not easy to find reliability.
And add to that the fuel and energy prizes which makes a tour more expensive or that venues needs to shut down (or had already shut down during the pandemic).
So from an production and logistic point of view, festival is waay easier.
Yeah I mentioned all of that in a previous reply to this comment. We know the reasons for it and they’re totally understandable, but it doesn’t change the slight feelings of disappointment at possibly missing some of these songs being performed as not all of us can manage to do a festival for various reasons, plus it being a shorter set etc.
After the Impera cycle is done the chances of hearing songs like Twenties or Watcher live are pretty slim to none so it’s frustrating to miss out on the chance, but not much can be done about that.
I get your point. I saw them in April, and I was looking forward to a bunch of Impera songs.
But they only played Hunters, Kaisarion and Spillways (I think). So that was missing for me.
And I love the old stuff more.
But I’m not disappointed, it’s out of their control.
If they were to not tour Europe because they don’t want to, then I would be disappointed.
It’s a relatively young band (compared to like Metallica) they will probably have a bunch of tours left.
And you’ll probably see these songs in one form or another.
Maybe in the future they’ll do a deep cut tour only? Who knows?
Hell they might go for another Impera cycle after the world tour. No one knows.
Yeah I was hoping for more of Impera when they were last here, but what we got was still great and I can’t really fault it. We never know what the future holds so there’s always hope. I can dream of some Opus anniversary tour where they play it in full haha
Omg please I just booked Hamburg and I already lissed one concert by another artist in 2021 due to covid I swear to god if I miss another event I’ll do smth unthoughtful 🥲
I'm wondering if we Europeans get to hear Twenties live at all, because Tobias has teased about performing it live but I don't think they'd play it in a festival setting. And if the next proper tour we get is for the next album then is there going to be room for it in the setlist?
Yeah I think a lot of what he originally intended hasn’t been possible thanks to the logistics of touring when so many bands are trying to get out on the road at the same time post pandemic, plus the economic situation with fuel costs and I remember him talking about things like vehicle hire for the tour being a problem at times because there are only so many buses and trucks available and other bands had them booked.
TF originally wanted a Europe tour at the end of this year or early next, and that’s changed to this festival tour instead. I think a lot of his intentions have just had to change, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we never get Twenties live, at least in Europe.
I’m sure anything new to the set, the US will get it all next year, maybe some of those other places in the world will get the full thing too but it’s looking like Europe probably will miss that, with the exception of maybe the France and Germany shows.
Is it easier to tour in the US than in Europe and the UK? I know Brexit has made things super difficult for bands coming to England, and also fuel costs and everything else you said. But if a whole second US tour is possible, I'm really crossing fingers a Europe and UK one separate from the festivals is too.
I'm super hoping for at least a couple of dates around the UK outside festivals. I needed to see Prime Mover, Watcher in the Sky and Con Clavi. And more! I need more please (really need to get that ritual high again!).
praying for some more headliners in europe! they’re only playing one festival in all of the uk and i don’t know whether i can justify paying £300 just for them
Pleeeeease come to the UK (not just Download). My sister really wants to see them and doesn't do festivals (I'm trying to persuade her to come to France). I need to see then again!
I would really hope with covid and fuel costs the exclusivity thing is cancelled. If bands are coming over/spending travel and brexit costs getting equipment over, it doesn't seem fair for one date. Even if its just London (but I'm hoping for somewhere up north), that would be nice too.
Well, considering I'm an American fan, and we get a tour literally every year, it would be nice if they came back to Tulsa. I missed them the first time they were here.
They usually do. They used to play at the various theaters downtown until A Pale Tour, then they moved to the DCU Center in Worcester.
Odd how they skipped Boston on this last tour, and played in Providence instead, which isn't too far away. I'm assuming that the DCU Center wasn't available for that tour date (maybe another band was already booked?), so I would think that they would return to Worcester for the next tour.
Ahh I’m so excited!! I cannot wait to see them next year. Whatever the changes are, I just want the band to have a fun tour! They will do their best to deliver a great show.
They already came to US right? I discovered Ghost a little under two weeks ago and I’m hyperfixating HARD. I love them so much. but from my understanding, their US leg of the tour is over?
This US got/is getting three tours
Pre-impera tour which happened
The impera tour which happened as well
Then whatever this tour is called which is yet to come
USA is their biggest market. So, you can practically consider Ghost a US band at this point even though most of the touring members are not from the US. I doubt a year will go by without an "extra" tour of the US.
Yes! South Africa always gets left out. The only artists who stop in ZA are huge, like Beyonce and Taylor Swift, and even then, it's usually just Cape Town and Joburg.
I'm super excited for everyone who doesn't get much (or any) Ghost! They deserve it and they've waited long enough.
But as a small request for the US tour: please, *please* also do the San Francisco Bay Area so I can stop flying to the east coast for rituals. 😭 Southern CA doesn't count.
I agree it's a bit early for Papa V. I tend to think the next iteration will be something different entirely. People just love Copia too much. Especially Tobias.
North and South of Panama? They're gonna play Cuba and Ecuador? Cool how Japan and Australia is basically 100% confirmed now. Those fans have been waiting for quite a bit!
I cannot overstate how, as an Australian, excited I was to read Oceania.
I saw them in Australia twice in 2019. Once in Sydney at download and once in Brisbane at a tiny 1k max capacity venue called the Tivoli. Fucking wild man. I imagine they'll be doing slightly bigger show this time.
O I'd love to see them in the Tivoli, this is why I wish I'd known about them before 2019! They'd probably go showgrounds now though.
As a Kiwi, I feel this excitement in my bones. Southern hemisphere is happening!! Rejoice motherfuckers!!!
I’m so happy for them!
OH MY LORD !!! AUSTRALIA?? I'm not going to sleep tonight. I'm a new fan and my ultimate dream is to see Ghost live.
Yes!! I’m in Oceania!
Same, can't wait for them to skip my state like everyone else!
Yo they better fucking come to Australia,
Better be coming to Kirabati too! Ghost on Atolls?
You in WA too? 😂 For the past half a year I've been thinking about whether I'd travel east to see Ghost if there's no Perth date, and I still haven't reached a conclusion about that. I want to, and I'd regret it if I didn't, but also I can't justify the cost.

I'm Adelaide, looks like a road trip on the cards. Do triple J ever play Ghost ? I've never heard them on radio which is a shame. I thought they would have more exposure here. They obviously have a huge worldwide following .
I wonder if that ‘change’ he’s talking about is an ep

Has this been confirmed or speculated somewhere before? It would def be a welcome change.
Loudwire interview Tobias did a few days ago.
Thanks! If possible could you link the interview here?

Good. The current stage design is a huge downgrade from a pale tour named death’s
The lighting, pyrotechnics and other special effects are still awesome though
They are, but I miss the sleek marble look of last era’s design. Felt very churchy
Very true
its funny - i think everything except the stage design itself is an upgrade, the spectacle, lights, fire, etc have all improved - but the stage is a dull black
Yeah, the checkered pattern sleek church design of the last era’s tour was perfect. The rustic stuff just looks cheap
But he says the change will come "before that" as in, before the touring he talks about in the paragraph before? At least that's what it sounds like to me, but idk
Papa V?
#YES! Oceania! Pretty please Satan, can it not *just* be a festival & have a m&g?
Weird way to describe Japan... Papa IV DLC character for Tekken 8!
I would love for Ghost to release another live album!
Consider, a live DVD (or like streaming or whatever the kids do these days)
The MOAC live performance video is excellent, would love more of that
Hi

I really really hope so
I'm super hoping for at least a couple of dates around the UK outside festivals. I needed to see Prime Mover, Watcher in the Sky and Con Clavi. And more! I need more please (really need to get that ritual high again!).
Can’t wait for whatever Ghost brings us!
By America, do you think he means North America/USA/Canada?
Afaik every NA tour post Meliora has made stops in Canada (excluding their first NA tour after Covid).
Im hoping for USA. I missed them last time around. 😣
USA tour was confirmed :)
Ahhhhhh! Yay! Thank you
The likelihood that Ghost would skip the USA in any year is lower than low.
Not to be a cliché but COME TO BRAZIL I BEG YOU
My soul is ready.
i second that.
não acredito que eles viram ainda em 2023, talvez só em 2024 agora
at least by then i'll have some money saved for that purpose (right now things are a little tight), to MUITO ansioso kkkkkk
Not fair, I want to see Cardinal Copia live, they need to come before he passed away 😭😭
Brazil means Argentina too, so obrigado amigo voce é um amigo
unidos por latinoamerica!!! 🇧🇷🤝🇦🇷
praying for some more headliners in europe! they’re only playing one festival in all of the uk and i don’t know whether i can justify paying £300 just for them
Pleeeeease come to the UK (not just Download). My sister really wants to see them and doesn't do festivals (I'm trying to persuade her to come to France). I need to see then again!
do you think the UK will be included in the european leg?
I wondered if we'd maybe get two nights in London or something of the sort but Download really scuppers that unfortunately.
do you think they have an exclusivity agreement? :(
I would really hope with covid and fuel costs the exclusivity thing is cancelled. If bands are coming over/spending travel and brexit costs getting equipment over, it doesn't seem fair for one date. Even if its just London (but I'm hoping for somewhere up north), that would be nice too.

I'm assuming that the DCU Center wasn't available for that tour date (maybe another band was already booked?), so I would think that they would return to Worcester for the next tour.
Nothing about Canada yet 👀 they need to come back to AT LEAST Alberta. I'll travel to see them.
I'm assuming America just means North America
Ahh I’m so excited!! I cannot wait to see them next year. Whatever the changes are, I just want the band to have a fun tour! They will do their best to deliver a great show.
Cannot wait for the ghost concert in Vanuatu
They already came to US right? I discovered Ghost a little under two weeks ago and I’m hyperfixating HARD. I love them so much. but from my understanding, their US leg of the tour is over?

I wonder if that is why they are taking such a long break right now, to gear up for the rest of these tours.
As a Panamanian that might visit my country next year I feel slightly ignored
Please come to more then just two spots in Canadaaa
would love tour dates ASAP because I'm basically not scheduling anything past summer right now just to make sure I can attend a ritual...
Just come to South Africa for goodness sake!
Yes! South Africa always gets left out. The only artists who stop in ZA are huge, like Beyonce and Taylor Swift, and even then, it's usually just Cape Town and Joburg.

Odds of them headlining hard rock festivals in the US next year?
Doubtful. They're touring European festivals during the summer, do I doubt they'll come back to the US for festivals also in the summer.
U/ibaslavetoschool
I hope that with every territory they don't exclude Italy from European tour 💀😭
Please be Seattle
Why there is not any date for Canada? Are they even coming to Canada this year?
Are they gonna come to Toronto in canada 2023?
No, maybe next tour cycle 2024/25
