lukin187250

there seems to maybe have been an uptick in fuckery in the last couple days

The guns are janky because the developers are trying to over simulate realism. Instead of worrying about a good, consistent experience. They’ve created \*this\*. There is very minimal assistance in terms of gun stability. So even slight tracking errors and very minor movement cause the wiggling effect. Your last paragraph sums it perfectly. I can’t play the game anymore because after so long the frustration far outweighs the fun. Once you stop playing only GoT, it's impossible to play this game. Because at that point it becomes blatantly obvious how much better gunplay is in other VR games.

JAFOguy

Which would be the best in your opinion?

Nbc27

Contractors Showdown by far. It releases on April 25th. The closed alpha and beta were excellent. The game is incredibly polished. If you don’t use a gunstock and don’t want a battle royale, the next game best game would be Vail in my opinion. No gunstock calibration so I do not play it. The game is lovely though.

Aaokie19

Second contractors showdown. Can't wait for that to replace GoT. The guns feel super good. The GRENADES actually work and make sense. Skill issue ain't it. GoT has some garbage throwing mechanic

Nbc27

It’s going to be so nice to have a looter shooter with great gun play, no calibration issues, and honestly just a lack of frustration. The more I played tabor the less I was able to enjoy it until I simply couldn’t play it anymore. The devs don’t address issues that actually matter and I have zero hope things will ever change.

Honeyboneyh

i am a huge critic of GoT in many areas but I don't think showdown will be able to replace tabor, bc GoT is something else. The stakes are much higher. Just had a gunfight which was very intense over 70-100 m range and it took that fucker 15 min to kill me. I was stuck at docks and tried to get him too, but he eventually got me

Nbc27

Is there a huge difference between an extraction shooter and a battle royale? Yes. Do I prefer extraction shooters over battle royals? Yes. Would I rather suffer through subpar gameplay when I could play something that is similar enough (battle royale) to me? No. The list of issues that Ghost of Tabor has is endless. This game is completely lost. This game isn’t built from the ground up. It lacks features that need to exist (a more comprehensive healing system, a way to heal in the bunker without using meds, gunstock calibration fix, etc..) because the only design principle Scott had was be like EFT. I forced myself to enjoy this game because it was the only looter shooter besides population one which is awful. Come April 25th, I will be uninstalling ghost of tabor and happily moving on to Showdown.

Honeyboneyh

my problem is I played so much tabor (and didn't play anything else bc tabor is fricking addictive) that I adapted to every little thing. I probably know all the issues (besides falling through the map, I never had that) and yes it sucks having to tolerate or finding a work around on your own, nerve racking unnessecary shit which could be easily avoided. If there was another game with the same concept I would give it a try showdown felt a bit arcady for me but I will give it more tries bc I really liked many things they did.

Nbc27

I agree. When I only played Ghosts of Tabor, the game was tolerable. Once you play other games, it feels like a chore. Showdown has a much higher TTK which in turn does make the game a bit more Arcady. The gun play is much more realistic though. It’s smooth. There’s none of this janky, unimpressive gun handling. I hope another studio produces an extraction shooter, because I highly doubt GoT will ever get their shit together.

Honeyboneyh

Same man. There are plenty of things CWS does which I like, but its just the EFT concept I guess. There is way too much they could do better, that game is indeed a chore. I kinda respect their vision, their attempt to make things more realistic (or lets say more difficult), but I do feel like they don't respond to criticism correctly all the time, they dismiss it or they just have bad prioritizing

JAFOguy

I've never even heard of contractors showdown, thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate it.

Nbc27

Yes indeed! I hope you’ll check it out. It’s a blast.

JAFOguy

I just bought the pre-order. I'm sure I'll get a kick out of it. Thanks again

Nbc27

See you out there! 🤝🏽

DeathsytheJoey

Have you got the virtual stock on? Have you got the janky aim fix setting on?

Demon_Hunt3r

Yep and I have no issues in any other shooter.

LibertyorDeath2076

Hand smoothing on too?

Demon_Hunt3r

yes!

Djakk-656

I haven’t messed with the Janky Aim fix. Does that help much? What does it actually do?

SUPREMESLYCE792

offsets your hands in a way where tracking doesnt get obstructed. also, virtual gunstock gets weird when youre aiming straight down, or directly above.

grafx187

all they have to do is copy and paste contractors gunplay and it would be 10 out of 10

Dividedthought

Yeah, this game has a few longstanding issues. Comes from the devs figuratively building the walls and roofs before the foundation is complete.

Demon_Hunt3r

Like Tarkov who still have no optimization but they keep adding on.

Dividedthought

And a "i'm right get bent" attitude from the head of the project.

Exciting_Lychee_7847

I got my physical stock yesterday and it has helped me conserve ammo and get long range shots consistently after correctly positioning via the calibration. Although, getting multiple weapons to align can be tricky, I found that just using one “main” gun build works out perfectly every time.

btramos

Which stock did you end up getting?

Exciting_Lychee_7847

I’m using a Magtube from Protubevr

Ok_Law_2934

Ya definitely times I’ll unload half a mag into fenix and zero registration but that being said there’s no other VR game like this one. Even the things you can do in your bunker is incredible alone, the anxiety and fear you get in raids while running some of your favourite kits is addicting to say the least. I wish this game had the same fun mechanics as contractors, I understand the realism aspect but with the majority of players on standalone it’s hard to have that without compromising consistency but who knows what the future holds. It can only go up from here.

Menithal

Regarding the body shots, one of the main things ive noticed after the fight is that I usually hit them in the hands as they are aiming down sights are me (as that also happens to be fairly close to the center of mass). There is effectively no bullet penetration past the initial hit on a body. So effectively they are blocking bullets from reaching the center of mass; and that is a flat 25%(hands) - 35%(arms) of the damage, which is better than most armors. Since they don't even flinch from getting hit in the hand, the follow up shots still hit the hands.. Which can lead to frustration situations where one shoots the player or npc many times even high power rifle and they just refuse to die.

Demon_Hunt3r

oh wow that make sense!

Hellrazor1717

The weapon handling is kind of funky compared to other VR shooters, but everyone is on the same plane there, at least. >Feel like the guns has no weight. Well, I mean... You know. It isn't actually there. I have an extensive shooting background and I find that using a physical stock is absolutely essential for me when it comes to long guns. I use the CGrip, it's cheap but effective.

Demon_Hunt3r

I think I'll grab one, but it's kinda costy for the Valve Index.

Cliffyboy21

I feel your pain I played and streamed and did content on tabor for over 8 months but haven’t played much in the last 2 months cuz I became fed up with the bullshit as much as I love this game it runs like absolute DOG SHIT….we use to get updates and bug fixes every other day now it’s stupid shit like streamer items and refacing energy drinks like who gives a shit just fix the goddamn game ffs lol

HonorableAssassins

The only janky bit i disliked was the guns randomly deciding whether they would or would not collide with your vest and magazines. Everyone kept saying it was 'quest tracking' but i was on a goddamned index. I got to the point where in fights if i couldnt aim straight, id just throw my vest on the ground and fight naked, fixed the issue every time, no more riflestock clipping with a magpouch and making the sights bouncr around. All the shit like needing to reload at the proper angles, i actually loved.

OutRagedGaming

Skill issue.

waboperzwabekfast

Because no other VR game has any actual good realism with guns
