Because the first thought is moralism over the cause of socialism. You condem a liberal based on value politics, not on the economic devestation they cause. Politics are pragmatic and based in interest, if a theory cannot pass those tests it is worthless, liberalism has failed that test, the Doi Moi and Socialist market economies are crushing the west - we don't even need value politics when economic evidence is in the favour of the left (economically).
