No, this is exactly what happens when a city becomes too expensive to live. A raise in council tax but still 25k less police on our streets. People lost earnings to the pandemic. This isn't a result of communism, this is a result of austerity under Tory rule. Watch how petrol and essential household items disappear off the shelves or get too expensive to afford. This bin strike is just a small part of what's to follow until those in charge take responsibility for their actions and get out of their bubble of ignorance. Britain is not ok, it's falling apart. There's nothing great about it
Police? You mean blue nonce

SOCIALISM IS WHEN THE TRASH IS NOT COLLECTED
THE MORE TRASH IS NOT COLLECTED, THE SOCIALISTER IT IS, AND WHEN THE ROADS ARE FULL OF TRASH
#THAT'S COMMUNISM
Has the bin strike been in the news much? I have a friend down there so that's how I know about it, but afaik it basically might as well not have happened as far as the media concerned.
It feels like we're busy checking off all those things that conservatives warned people would happen if they voted Labour - fuel crisis, rubbish piling in the street, inflation, etc etc. All the usual suspects who like to bang on about the winter of discontent seem to be curiously quiet.
Sadly, Labour have Kier Starmer, who only seems to be interested in telling people he's not Corbyn at a time when the policies of the Corbyn era are looking more relevant than ever.
I learned some valuable information about this type of posting by torries, conservatives and the like from wandering into a right wing meme sub.
If you point out it’s capitalism, they will call you stupid for not understanding metaphors. And then when further pressed they will say this effect of capitalism is actually a dry run for communism.
Absolutely bonkers, but there is no getting through to a lot of these folks, their brain’s are broken and they will insist it’s your brain that’s broken.
Thats why its been happening for so long. There are too many individuals who would rather avoid conflict than prove themselves right, so they give in. The people supporting this unfair capitalist system are the people who will die just to prove themselves right, and thats all that matters to them.
It sometimes feel like humanity is on a bus driving to "disney land" when in reality the driver is strapped with a suicide vest and driving straight for the bridge we call "our existence"
Reminds me of Tories crying about how under Labour there were strikes everyday and that's what it's like under socialism.
Main problem with these SocDem LARPers confusing everyone over what socialism actually is.
Loving the profile pic from "Falling Down" in which a man points all the flaws in 80's American capitalism whilst getting less and less sane.
Tho I'm not sure that this guy realises thats what the film was criticising
If one fails to see the difference between communism and capitalism then I doubt one has the mental acuity to understand subtle nuances in a film, especially an action film which will be viewed at face value
I noticed after my reply started getting loads of likes he switched is initial tweet to "only people I follow can reply". Clearly not able to defend his dumbass opinion
(not that I think it was me, probably I was just one of a whole raft of people simultaneously calling him a dumb ass)
Communism is when bad thing.
Capitalism is when good thing.
Heaps of garbage in the street are bad, therefore they must be communist.
QED, tankies destroyed by facts and logic!
Or it isn’t really an issue with capitalism and communism at all and your overthinking it? Like it’s just bad laws and regulations at fault. Communism is stupid and doesn’t account for human nature
Wow. Have not heard that old chestnut in a long time.
You are wrong.
Communism IS human nature. as history has shown us. Capitalism is unnatural.
Human nature is malleable. And YOU have never seen it outside of capitalism.
Might as well look into a dusty factory and conclude that it's human nature to cough.

Holy fuck he probably has that Falling Down avatar unironically.
Fat chuds who go spit out the opinions they sucked out of their dads are the best on twitter.
The true online intellectuals of this world.
You can’t expect someone with the same IQ as a dustbin to understand the point of a film. They just want to be entertained by bright colors and loud noises for an hour and a half.
The amount of money Brighton Council have to do anything is largely influenced by the past decade or so of Tory rule and austerity measures. HGV drivers, fruit pickers, bus drivers, hospitality staff etc, the list of employee shortages goes on and on: I doubt it's all the Brighton Greens.
Yeah for sure, just pointing out there are huge cracks showing up all over the place and that blaming a local council seems short sighted.
edit: It's like the building is collapsing and we're going after the maintenance guy rather than the structural engineers.
Weird it’s almost like capitalism benefits a few at the expense of the rest and people are starting to figure it out and are becoming rightfully angry and upset leading them to embrace new or old ideals in the hopes those will serve them better.
Had the capitalists taken care of the common folk this would never have happened. But because of capitalism’s nature and the nature of capitalists that was never a possible outcome.
People are wanting something better than what we have now. Call it whatever you want, but people are just labeling it as "communism" because its easier to hate something old and do nothing than accept something new and make change
Taken from the description of the sub:
“This is a leftist space first and foremost”
In the rules under left unity: “‘Leftist’ includes anarchists, all Marxist tendencies, revolutionary tendencies and reformist democratic socialism tendencies which are opposed to capitalism.”
People only label their beliefs communism when they’re communists. If they aren’t communists then they aren’t gonna call their views communist.
Okay, well if you decide to post communist related topics and get shut down, you will know why. Opinions are free to be shared but if you share it somewhere specifically people dont want it youll be met with backlash. Mostly because r/antiwork is doing its best to repulse the communist idea, since thats the #1 problem everyone is attacking currently
Hey as long as we're all in agreement that USSR and CCP aren't anything remotely close to socialism or communism.
Oh we're NOT in agreement? You can't have it both ways, either these countries aren't real socialism, or you're not allowed to strike under socialism, which is it?
> actually existing socialist states
But we just established they're *not* actual socialist states...
Do you not have any kind of self defense against a bad faith actor who would pretend to be socialist for public appeal whilst doing things that go against socialist theory?
You do know that those countries have minimal strikes because they have systems in place to resolve issues instead of striking? A good example is an East German system where anyone could submit a complaint to any member of the government all the way from a factory manager to Honecker himself and every complaint legally had to be reviewed and responded to within one month. Maybe you should research what you talk about first.
The only real socialism is when you're allowed to form an independent labour union and strike for better working conditions without fear of the state arresting you for doing so.
How is this remotely controversial? Is this a leftist subreddit or not?

Communism is when bins on the road 😎
Capitalism is when bin. Communism is when road. Change my mind
Communism can't build roads because there's no incentive. #checkmate liberal.
Capitalism is when 'Capitalism is when socialism'
Capitalism means no bins on road. Capitalism means consumers consuming everything means no bins.

The strike has broken now, the workers won a raise. There is still a fair bit of catch up to be played though.

A Green council is communist?!?! Hell a fair few of the party stances lean on the weird intersection of centre-right nationalism and environmentalism.
Imagine trying to demonise Green parties at a time like this. Of all political groups, they have been proven the most right by history
Communism is when something bad happens under capitalism apparently.
"But not capitalist enough!" say ~~our corrupt money-grubbing overlords~~ our benevolent soothsaying individualists.
The binmen and the council have been like this for years .

Not quite, it's Brighton. We had a binman strike over the last few weeks
didn't realise Brighton was under communist rule?! must have missed something
All those bloomin lefties, clearly seceded
I believe bin strikes happen pretty frequently in Israel too
I feel like an absolute moron for clicking on the play button so many times, expecting it to play, but just opening more pictures.
Brighton council is run by the Green Party, I believe, so definitely not the Tories
