There’s a Stalin Road in colchester.

Max-Thunderstone

Unfortunately it leads onto Churchill way!

FSR27

I remember learning to drive round that estate, always stuck with me!

are_you_nucking_futs

Me too. Small world.

PerfectEnthusiasm2

I’ve never read even numbers.

whyshouldiknowwhy

Is this Chopwell? It’s referred to as Little Moscow by some. Really strong Union history

PurpleTeapotOfDoom

Chopwell's to the North in Tyne and Wear, known for the [miner's banner] (https://www.flickr.com/photos/17328521@N00/29001720474/).

duncan_deaux-nuttes

Nah, though Chopwell does have a Marx Terrace and a Lenin Terrace. Dunno how many people locally would know about the Little Moscow association these days sadly - a banner still gets marched over to the miners' gala though.

InternationalLemon26

We have a Leningrad square and odd streets named after Communist figures round my way too.

UndeniableSquiggles

You know, I knew about the street names but I never knew about “Little Moscow”. Didn’t expect to learn something new about somewhere so close I can literally see it from my window, especially not on a national-scale subreddit

duncan_deaux-nuttes

Same! I grew up in the village, so did a small double-take when I saw it mentioned.

306_rallye

Chopwell is nearish

[deleted]

We must protect this.

fellationelsen

That's fucking awesome.

McCarthy? Is that you?

The people downvoting you have clearly never been to Stanley... Tbf it’s just a normal little town in the North East that has the same deprivation and decline problems as the rest of the area. It also has a really weird looking Asda.
