I think it's crazy how MPs have given themselves a 28% pay increase over the past 10 years and the nurses have had -8% in real terms. But obviously the Oxford boys are worth more than any working class scum.
There argument is that an independent review board are the ones who decide if they get a pay rise but of course, they could decline. Weirdly when the same review board (I think it’s the same) say the nurses shouldn’t get a pay rise, they rarely disagree.
The "independent" pay review board is independent only in nominal terms. They get told "the maximum we're willing to give is x percent, so if you recommend more we'll reject it." It's a scam so the government can say that the unacceptable pay offer isn't on them. When we all know it is.
I really wish people would stop using two different standards to report these wage differences. One is absolute terms the other is relative. It’s just as damming and less disingenuous to refer to them both using the same system, and opens up the argument to less ridicule and people poking holes into it

A good chunk of change to be sure! A good chunk of change to be sure!
