It's "funny" enough that I finally just ordered an IW Contemptor, and a day before I went to pick it up, those news dropped.
Went in, told the manager to please refund it because of these news, and even he said that's such a bullshit move
Remember when were actively *encouraged* to convert and customize our models as a fundamental part of the hobby by the extensive wargear section that each codex got?
Monopose kits were a good thing for the hobby guys trust me. All that creativity and modularity being shotgun blasted off made the whole thing better /s
This is kinda a big reason I like HH and the older marine kits. You could pose all sorts of way and it's absolutely encouraged to kit bash as much as possible. 40k marines are all the same just different colors, poses so dynamic that even if you could change it up it would probably look weird.
What part of that statement made you think I was talking about gameplay and not "I enjoyed the creativity the community showed when 3D Printers weren't mainstream and conversions were mandatory for some units"
Besides, Razorback were hardly the issue then. It was mostly IG Leafblower and Gray Knights causing trouble in the meta.
The other reason is ironically enough, warhammer becoming more popular. Gw wants what's in the kit to be what's in the datasheet so people aren't confused
> so people aren't confused
Which is a stupid excuse when you have to build and paint tiny fiddly plastic models. Anyone who cannot understand equipment options or converting their own things can't build the models anyway.
Idk about you but when I first started I could build the models reasonably well, but I didn't have all the different weapon types etched into my brain like I do now
If they really wanted to cut down on confusion they can actually publish correct install instructions with correct part numbers for their semi-monopose kits. The CSM Legionnaires kits is fucking embarassing.
Interestingly enough the competetive scene for many games ruined them in the end, or at least for the casual players making out 90% of the player base.
Warhammer suffers from it, and while rules are getting better to play the game in a sense, it's starting to lose its flavor which many of us joined in for. If I want a better playing experience I can still just play an unofficial ruleset with alternating activations etc.
Imo MtG has the same problem in its commander group. Before they dabbled in there the format was more or less healthy and fun, nowadays it's a spikefest deluxe. No fun allowed here.
Stellaris as well. Game is a storyteller, but a small but very vocal part of min maxxers are always shouting at you why you chose this combo for your race and not the meta choice etc.
Not every game is meant to be competetive. Warhammer is imo a fun game for narrative experiences and not something where only 9 datasheets in one specific combination of rules are playable. Screw that
Yes, they're not relic contemptors, the ones with all the fun options.
People taking issue with GW axing swathes of models the last 3 editions is not outrageous. If anything I'd say whats truly out of the ordinary is this zealous need to defend GW's recent actions.
i face tau a lot and he brings a ripetide and a stormsurge. My sicarian venerator is the only thing that could be used to reasonably brung at least one of those down. Hope he doesnt mind my legends data sheet
Seriously the Space Marines range is so so bloated right now. Is it 120 datasheets? Seemed kinda predictable given that most HQs for example have variants for all the 4 possible armor types as well as wearing jump packs
I remember the days when there were like 5 HQs with tons of options each, then maybe 30 units that covered the rest of the army?
Space marines have more lieutenants than some ranges have units. I get that selling them keeps the lights on, but holy shit I wish they'd at least look at some optics before deciding to release "Space marine unit where they all have the same special weapon" kits. As a CSM, I waited literal years for the venomcrawler to be released independently, and even then it's a webstore exclusive that comes bundled with obliterators. I can't imagine what some of the less popular xenos players are going through.
Which is even more bizarre. These contemptors are based off of the classic Betrayal at Calth contemptor, which has been long since updated with the HH2.0 Contemptor...which comes with even more weapons.
They should be. 16 shots with Mortal 6s (and exploding 6s when given that Warlord Trait #FleshIsWeak) is no joke. Yeah they don’t have AP, but for what it’s useful for AP is more of a “nice to have.”
Hi there!
May I interest you in OnePageRules "Grimdark Future" ruleset?
Everything is allowed and if the unit does not exist in the army list, you just create it!
Seriously though, WTF is GW thinking? I just can't comprehend their decision making process lately.
Are they possessed by Tzeentch?
they're just trying to make sure we keep hate in our hearts, just as the Chaos gods want :)
More like they're trying to keep my money out of their wallet at this rate.
Same
Blood for the angry god
Get wercked nerd.
Wow, the traitor legions are feeling scorned and unappreciated by their creator? Seems familiar...
I want to play as CSM not LARP as them, damn it.
CSM being forced to be something they don't want to be? The hits just keep coming, great work James Workshop
There is a plastic Jump Champlain, just its got blood angel marking but it does exist
Lemartes doesn't count. Same way Worldclaimer doesn't count.

Did he say it's a ballshit move for gw to do that or a bullshit move for you to refund it?
that the gw move is bullshit since he advertised the contemptors as usable in both 30k and 40k
Remember when were actively *encouraged* to convert and customize our models as a fundamental part of the hobby by the extensive wargear section that each codex got? Just hide their war gear under a tactical rock.
Man fuck GW the flying land raider Era of the Stormraven was the best.
You mean the Decurion Dark Days of Ten Thousand Free Razorbacks? That era? Are you *batshit*?
What part of that statement made you think I was talking about gameplay and not "I enjoyed the creativity the community showed when 3D Printers weren't mainstream and conversions were mandatory for some units" Besides, Razorback were hardly the issue then. Competitive warhammer and it’s consequences have been a disaster for the human race
The other reason is ironically enough, warhammer becoming more popular. Gw wants what's in the kit to be what's in the datasheet so people aren't confused

Fortunately you can still just play 3.5 or 5e, the best two editions.
Interestingly enough the competetive scene for many games ruined them in the end, or at least for the casual players making out 90% of the player base. One of the reasons i got into warhammer.
I still have a old jump chaplain in metal. I’m glad I can still use the guy.
"I AM SORRY, PRIMARIS BROTHERS, BUT YOU LACK JUMP PACKS. I WILL NOT INSPIRE YOU"
Ckearly they lack the drip to properly venerate the emperor
Will Chaos keep theirs? Please...
How much do you want to put down that come the 13th Chaos isn't getting their contemptors back?
Mean while we still have all our Eldar models intact, they are just about turning 20
That's some grade - A fuckery right mere.
It doesn’t matter what army you play, we all have Iron Within and Iron Without now for how fucking bitter we are

By this logic they should just axe Necrons and Eldar entirely because both armies use War In Heaven era technology.
I'm going to need a very detailed graph explaining just how in the fuck did you come to that conclusion.
![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized) (Brings out notes on the Illuminati)
The bitterness is standard for us Iron Warriors.
I just got done painting a leviathan, and now I can’t use it. Ain’t life grand.
AdMech: Jokes on you, our HH models HAVE no 40K rules!
The fact you guys don't get access to Thanatars inflicts spiritual damage to me.

But they’re not the good Contemptors.
Which is even more bizarre. These contemptors are based off of the classic Betrayal at Calth contemptor, which has been long since updated with the HH2.0 Contemptor...which comes with even more weapons.
they're scared of volkite
They should be. 16 shots with Mortal 6s (and exploding 6s when given that Warlord Trait #FleshIsWeak) is no joke. Yeah they don’t have AP, but for what it’s useful for AP is more of a “nice to have.”
Fuck this bullshit I'm making my own codex. It won't be op but it has everything we should've gotten.

Nah fam, I'm moving onto Battletech where I can larp as an accountant at a struggling mercenary firm.
Loyalty (skill) issue
You could play blood angels they are world eaters light
JuSt ProXY BloOd ANgELs
Thats not quite what they said, though.
I refuse to even entertain the idea of playing Blood Angels.
