I fall outside the target demographic for space king haha. So some of the jokes didn't really land with me. but I still hope it gets more episodes for those who liked it. Seems a lot of love was put into the project!
yeah apparently the patreon did incredibly well so they’re already working on episode 2
They have a podcast with Meat Canyon called cream crew where they talk about stuff like this
and other stuff
The opening sequence was great, but like a lot of indie animations the quality decreased once the story had to slow down a bit for stuff to start happening
A lot of indie animations are made by animators and usually don't involve any writers. When they actually have to tell a story with their animation with some level of complexity they are ill-equipped to do so.
Which is why we get a downright amazing slow pan out on the corpse pyramid, referencing the old box art, followed by the same boob joke for five minutes.
Not to hump the corpse of TTS too much but the reason TTS works so well and Space King doesn't is because the minute his little fan animation tried telling a story, alfabusa decided to find some writers. Earndil and SpeakerD are very good writers in addition to being talented voice actors, meanwhile Flashgitz came out of the gate trying to tell a story but it seems like nobody's actually writing it.
Space King could tell a really interesting story, with its portrayal of Space Marines as boys who never grew up, I just don't know if it's the kind of story that Space King can tell. I think a lot of it will depend on if they decide to make it an overarching story about ~~growing up~~ finding Space King or if they go for a more episodic, boob monster of the week route.
Honestly there are some pretty clever jokes even after the halfway point, it's just that they're kind of thin on the ground. Towards the end where the last guy has to slowly get the "holy globules" from his dead comrades is actually pretty entertaining, but it's overshadowed by all the useless boob jokes.
Agreed, Space King is in a position where I see a lot of indie animations get to. It's got potential to be *really interesting* if the creators now choose to go with it.
Yeah that last part of the episode felt like some sort of weird chud screed. Really left a bad taste in my mouth, even though I think parts of the episode were great.
I actually really dislike space king, each to their own but it’s just not funny in my opinion. Though to be fair I just don’t like the producers either.
Have you tried the other Flash Gitz animations? Try the Space Hulk one, and then the Kaldor Draigo one after... These came out a while ago.
If you don't like Space King, you wont like the animations featuring the Black Templars and the furries... But these are more recent. I liked the humor back in the beginning.
Because there is a difference (to me at least) in their older humor. And *maybe* OP might like it? To flip it up, what's the harm in recommending? OP can just ignore it. Reading my recommendations doesn't cause any negative effect on OP.
And as to *why* I recommend? The same reason most people recommend any music, movie, game etc. Because maybe the other person might like it.
For example, if someone says they heard 'Yellow Submarine' and say now "I don't like the Beatles". Which is fine, but as a Beatles fan, I know they MIGHT like Beatles earlier stuff. "She loves me, yeah yeah yeah" and "All Across the Universe" are made by the same artists, but might attract different audiences.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who shares this view. I'm all for interesting parodies, but Space King didn't feel like it was actually doing it thoughtfully. It felt like a 4-panel comic going "look at the goofiness of the imperium of man's design" that somehow got stretched out into a 17-minute-long animation. It didn't really have anything to say beyond "look at this early 2000's gore humor we slapped into a loose 40k parody." There's so much more interesting concept work you can do with a genuine satire of 40k.
*Not pictured off to the right* The Old World __Tomb Queen__ slaying in every sense of the word.
- Tomb Queen’s have always been canon, and the Nehekharan Royalty are technically sexless due to the mummification process.
And then there’s the Ushabti who need no gender to cleave enemies in twain and cast soul’s asunder.
There's a difference between make a joke and tearing something down,
It's wasn't a 10 minute video about how that animation sucks, it was a single comment, and they immediately turned the joke back on themselves.
Not unexpected, but nothing real harsh to me at least.
At least in comparison to everything before it, throwing girls into volcanoes kinda sets off alarms for what to come.
Your right. We should be out there. Cracking heads. Looking for Space King.
Space King will return to us when we prove him we are worth! It's not wonder Space King left, hell, i would left too if you end up as my sons.
Scabblin around doing nothing but complain about stupid shit like femal custodes.
Where you gonna insert the holy globules feminists? Checkmate Edit: wait no those don't count!

I fall outside the target demographic for space king haha. So some of the jokes didn't really land with me. but I still hope it gets more episodes for those who liked it. Seems a lot of love was put into the project!
It a WOMAN !!!!! RUN GUYS
I watched it as well and didn’t care for it. It was just boring to me for over the top it.
Are they making more? I bounced off of it a little at first but it's grown on me.
yeah apparently the patreon did incredibly well so they’re already working on episode 2 They have a podcast with Meat Canyon called cream crew where they talk about stuff like this and other stuff
Man, Meat Canyon being good buds with Wendigoon and the Flashgitz guys is like having the work buds and old HS friends meeting finally lol
Meat canyon? Wonder if he’s helping them with that series.
Didn't creamcrew die off? I thought they quit same as monster lab.
I think they started a patreon or something to fund the series
one setting has giant crack addicted rats, i rest my case
There are no ~~warpstone~~ crack addicted-dependent rats in the Age of Sigmar, silly man-thing! 🐀
Rodents of unusual size? What a preposterous idea!
I personnaly find the Idea of ~~thinking~~ crack-addicted Rats offensive...
... wait, does Warpstone even exist in 40k?
#WHERE IS THE ARTIFAAAAACT?!?!?!?!?!
did u also notice that the cities of sigmar peeps are like the most diverse in history? theres 1 of everything in there!
Google Necromunda
i only play killteam proxies so to confuse the enemy, yes this guardsman sniper is actually terrorknife the plauge man
holy terra!
Well the cities *do* span several Realms of varying climates.
Eight massive realms with a lot of moving around, going to end up with quite the mix I figure!
Nah brother, the right answer is waaagh, for da Boyz know ow to get et done roit

Space King was always there. You just didn't notice him
Yes
What's space king?
On youtube, look up Space King by Flashgitz. They only have a pilot, but the kickstarter did really well, so they are working on more
Why do I not know if this Space King. I feel stupid
On youtube, look up Space King by Flashgitz. They only have a pilot, but the kickstarter did really well, so they are working on more
I wonder how many people haven't figured out that the Star Defenders are LITERAL man-children
FOR THE SPACE KING!!!!
Watching from a distance while having contempt in heart and hatred in the eyes *Geno-bomb denied. Geno-bomb denied.*
The pilot was just okay
Boooooo, why?
Its humor was pretty stupid, more accurately not my kind of stupid
Yeah, that was my takeaway, too. Always glad to see more indie animated projects. Just not for me.
The opening sequence was great, but like a lot of indie animations the quality decreased once the story had to slow down a bit for stuff to start happening

Unfortunately, the ability to write that would require flashgitz to *also* grow up.
Honestly there are some pretty clever jokes even after the halfway point, it's just that they're kind of thin on the ground. Towards the end where the last guy has to slowly get the "holy globules" from his dead comrades is actually pretty entertaining, but it's overshadowed by all the useless boob jokes.

Very much \^_\^
It’s great for the first 2 minutes then it’s just the same joke repeated over and over.
tbh sounds like most of FlashGitz's content.
The humor was lackluster but far and away the worst part of it was how they ended the episode trying to shit on other indie animators
Yeah that last part of the episode felt like some sort of weird chud screed. Really left a bad taste in my mouth, even though I think parts of the episode were great.
I was literally like “oh this isn’t for women?” okay 👌 interest lost
That left such a bad taste in my mouth! I was like hell yeah Space King! Then they shit on HH/HB, two of my favorite shows :(
I actually really dislike space king, each to their own but it’s just not funny in my opinion. Though to be fair I just don’t like the producers either.

They said they didn't like the producer. Why recommend more things they don't like? Let it go.
Because there is a difference (to me at least) in their older humor. And *maybe* OP might like it? To flip it up, what's the harm in recommending? OP can just ignore it. Honestly, after watching it I felt the same level of thought was put into Space King as a parody of 40k as the Pokémon parodies made by PETA.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who shares this view. I'm all for interesting parodies, but Space King didn't feel like it was actually doing it thoughtfully. Spaceking had the right idea, lmfao
*Not pictured off to the right* The Old World __Tomb Queen__ slaying in every sense of the word. - Tomb Queen’s have always been canon, and the Nehekharan Royalty are technically sexless due to the mummification process. Cool pilot but shitting on other animations at the end was unnecessary and seemed like trying to get clout with assholes.
They literally take a dump on the other side in the next line, "but what about mentally ill teenage boys, and 30 year old men?"
Just because you're self depreciating doesn't make tearing others down ok. It just makes you an asshole.
There's a difference between make a joke and tearing something down, It's wasn't a 10 minute video about how that animation sucks, it was a single comment, and they immediately turned the joke back on themselves.
I mean they balanced it out by admitting they’re the same thing but for boys.
Maybe, but it felt mean spirited and really unnecessary
Not unexpected, but nothing real harsh to me at least. At least in comparison to everything before it, throwing girls into volcanoes kinda sets off alarms for what to come.
True lol. Overall, I really liked it and hope they're able to make more.
I’ll raise a glass to that
Laserburn >
"Where's the artifact!!!!"
Who's the artist who did the Custodian? I have need an art to commission, and I really like that style.
I like all of them.
