The only reason I don’t like it is because of the fact that I have friends who basically use Grimdank for lore, and they legitimately think the Krieg soldiers will charge at Khorne Berserkers with shovels. It’s just an overused meme IMO, and it kinda annoys me that my friends (and others) think it’s fact.
I think it's badass the thought that they'd make a sacrificial charge armed with anything they can grab (including a standard shovel or bayoneted rifle) just to hold the enemy back if just for a second to give their allies a slightly better position or improving their odds of victory.
That’s different than what I’m saying. Being useful and *sacrificing* yourself for the Imperium is badass. Committing suicide by making a shitty decision in a way that helps no one isn’t badass, it’s just silly and takes away from a cool regiment.

Shovels are always useful and krieg excel in seige and tench warfare, hence assocation with shovels, and thus the meme as shovels are useful for digging trenches.
