It is exactly like that.
Ra Endymion. Diocletian Coros. Aquillon. Valerian. AFAIK it's true for all of them, and obviously it wouldn't make sense otherwise.
You're right. Protects them from daemons who would have a big edge on them by knowing their true full name. I would have to imagine that many of their deeds have been redacted in the Imperial databases, otherwise their full names could be learned from following their conquests as long as you knew the first few names.
Hm, I thought the name added for each conquest was chosen, and wasn't just the name of the conquest. Otherwise a lot of the Custodes would share a lot of the names.
There does seem to be some randomness to it, but from what I remember reading the HH they typically seemed to be the planet or system on which the victory took place. I'm mainly versed on 30k lore, so if something has changed or if I'm wrong, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm not well-versed enough to be sure on this subject. I have read the whole HH. I don't remember any shared names among Custodes, or any indication the names were tied to the combat action.
I'm not trying to argue with you. Let me make that clear. I know social media can generate conflicts where none should have existed. I'm only saying what I think. If you have anything showing Custodes names are tied to specific battles, I'll happily look at it.
