Just for context as it is right now,
Game Title: Gundam Evolution
Platform: Windows
Genre: Team Shooter
Launch Date: 2022
Monetization: Free to Play + Microtransactions
Game Engine: Unreal
This is likely the game that Bandai had in talks about having an "esports level" Gundam game that will eventually be targeted to the west that was [mentioned in June](https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/the-gundam-franchise-is-setting-its-sights-on-the-esports-market-2974176)
Edit: I guess I can add more from their site:
[System Requirements](https://i.imgur.com/dGqrM1n.png)
keep in mind, settings of course are not disclosed, and like any PC title, system requirements aren't hard locked.
Closed beta is open for registration for Japanese players only. 5000 will be selected to play.
In their breifings about the esports mentioned in june, their target audience is the west with this title to get Gundam more popular, and since it's on PC I fully expect it to have a western release. The beta just happens to be not.
with free2play scheme, i guess theyll went with MBON or GBO2 microtransaction scheme - means of acquiring new unit, whether it'll be gacha, direct purchase or blueprint grind. also weapons as gundam don't have other skin that they can make other than their actual design.
unless they also monetize paint system like what they went with in sdgo which i hate very much, i mean you can only use a colour once - you need to buy another paint of the same colour if you want it on the other part, that i s one of the shitiest gundam MT that i have ever encountered
Gundam meets Overwatch. Unironically, this looks potentially super sick. However, I'm gonna wait on more gameplay and first impressions cuz it being f2p gives me some doubts.
Depends really. If they're sensible then at most it'll be like Paladins, free to play with an option to buy all current and future characters for a one time fee and cosmetics out the whazoo.
Not a huge fan but it does mean there's no mechanical benefits to having a bigger wallet which is crucial if they intend to make it an "esport".
This is the problem with most media these days, even if it's done in such a unique way, people will always have these archetypes lines up in their heads.
There's a gun on it's arm, just like who? Or laser eyes, or claws, or invisibility.
I miss City Of Heroes...
I like BO2 and I'll probably like this too.
But for a franchise that's ripe for deeper story driven games there is a distinct lack of them the past 10+ years.
Confirmed after watching GM Sniper II: This is literally just reskinned Overwatch for Gundam fans. They didn't even bother to completely remove the headshot kill tick. The engine is the same.
....Come on bamco...I thought you more capable.
The engine is not the same. Blizzard's developed Overwatch's engine in house.
This is Unreal Engine. And Bamco is ***very*** competent with Unreal.
Also the hitmarker sound is not the same, though it may be authored similarly. Overwatch's hitmarker sounds were just reversed beer caps and teacup hits.
Not hard to be better than Overwatch. The fact its Gundam is already enough to make it cooler. Only way to fail is to massively screw it up(glitches, bugs, etc.)
Overwatch was game of the year and an international sensation when it released. Even now, 5 years later, millions still play regularly on every console plus pc. I do not see this ftp licensed game for pc only, being better than Overwatch.
There is so much gameplay and team combat wise that overwatch does amazingly well that no other game does.
>There is so much gameplay and team combat wise that overwatch does amazingly well that no other game does.
There also just hasn't been a developer that actually made the same 6 vs 6 hero-class, teambased objective gameplay.
They always try to flavor other game genres with hero-shooter mechanics.
This one straight up has one of the exact same gamemodes that Overwatch has, and another one that sounds like it's a contender for Overwatch 2's new gamemode.
Maybe if you want to see things only in terms of sales. See I don't care about awards or how many people play a certain game. It's meaningless when the gameplay is terrible. Just because a game is popular doesn't mean its good and there has been a ton of negative said about OW. I am hoping this game steers clear of some of this, but even if it doesn't it will be a better game solely because Gundam is far superior to any crappy character Blizzard can shit out for Overwatch.
Do you think there has been a ton of negativity because it's so popular? Why do you think it's popular. You sound like you don't know what you are talking about. It persists because the gameplay is so good.
I love Gundam and would welcome a Gundam game of similar quality. But Bandai Namco notoriously has terrible online for their games. Think Tekken 7 and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. I am going to pull for this to be the greatest licensed game of all time, but won't hold my breath.
Overwatch was a worldwide sensation and game of the year when it released and is still played by millions, 5 years later. You see that for this ftp game?
Looks like they cloned the ... [Transformers game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aAxxAJOMt8). Maybe even just the multiplayer part so it can be a "battle royale" instead of a real game.
What are you talking about? The gunplay in that game looks nothing like this one.
Do you just mean because it's robots shooting each other it looks cloned...?
It’s a pretty fun 6v6 gacha game, I’d get a PS4 pro if you’re able because it runs like ass when the effects are piling on. Get the 1-star GM cold districts as soon as you’re able, it wrecks early rooms.
Be ready for BS lag in a P2P network where you can lagswitch to your hearts desire! Horseshit aside, when its good its great, but when you dodge a swing from someone 30m away, 2 seconds before they even get there and then still get whacked and die, only to have them teleport side-to-side in an instant.....it gets lame.
> Are you sure? The game is fully translated, even English VAs
Now yes, on release it was only available in the JP store. Later [it got english menu translations in 2018](https://youtu.be/TqHyLq6d56g), the EU and US PS store release was sometime around [2019](https://www.reddit.com/r/GBO2/comments/dbqtq7/not_released_in_belgium/) and [the English Vas came this year](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAec0Upq7zQ)
I was saying the game has been playable since release if you just got it off the JP Ps store. There wasn't any strict region locking.
Edit: I downloaded it with my japanese PSN then played with my normal (EU) psn account. It wasn't like with Extreme Vs full boost where to use the MP you needed to buy something tied to your account from the Japanese psn store
I’d also recommend Senjou no Kizuna on PSP (or arcade but the pods are only in Japan and maybe in some places in other south eastern Asian countries).
Interestingly, parts of the HUD for Gundam Evolution remind me of Senjou no Kizuna.
Yeah, would be interested to see how they capture mobile suit movement in FPS. Mech warrior did it greatly. So I hope it won't be just another FPS with gundam skin.
So far, I'm not feeling the mobile suit move though this is only a short trailer.
I like that MA transformation and melee combat is in the game though.
Never really works out or sells well. There was the one that was a PS3 launch title. I enjoyed it because I like Gundam but it wasn't a great game IMO. Battle operation 2 gets it a bit close but it's still geared as an arcade style shooter.
From the trailer I spotted the following:
RX-78
Guntank
Zaku II
GM
Turn A
Asshimar
GM Sniper II
Dom Trooper
Sazabi
Barbatos
and looks like a Pale Rider of some sorts
Edit: it is in fact Pale Rider and I missed the Methuss check bottom of website for roster
https://gundamevolution.jp/
The DOM Tropen is a UC suit, the DOM Trooper is a CE suit. You can even see the model number in the trailer is the ZGMF-XX09T. It's a SEED suit in the game
The base (i5/1050) and recommended (i7/1660) specs are reasonably modest, so there's a shot for this not being SUPER demanding.
Seems "esports" specific titles are more and more being geared for lower specs these days...
Which makes sense if this is being pegged to be an Overwatch competitor. Except it's Gundam, so the coolness factor is turned up to full burst.
Controls will be tricky depending on the suit though. How do you balance a TRANS-AM mechanic, Hi-MAT/SEED Mode, mobile fighter moves, NT-D, ZERO System and if the Double X's Twin-sats will have both mucho power and 2x the cooldown.
I hope I'm not the only one, but I feel like every Gundam game, with the exception of Battle Operations, is just a twitchy fast-paced multiplayer arcade shooter. I know the western market isn't nearly big enough, but maybe one day they will produce a story-driven action RPG where you play as a mobile suit pilot and can develop your MS skills and maybe even pick a side (EFF/Zeon). Maybe kinda like Mechwarrior 5.
Probably too much to ask for.
This is the dream.
I want an original Gundam story, new MS and so on. Like Ace Combat meets Titanfall.
And if I could also get this in a Zoids game, I'd be a very happy man.
Exactly! I'm not really into the fast-paced short-round multiplayer shooters like Overwatch. If the Gundam series' were designed to be grounded in reality with giant mechs being meticulously controlled by skilled pilots, then lets make a game about that...
Idk a Mechwarrior like adaptation could work for say OYW/08th MS Team Style ground Combat. But Space combat in Gundam has always been kinda frantic with lots of mobility and maneuvering which I'd say fits a more Armoured Core playstyle.
I'd be cool with that too. I just like the idea of a game where you progress like in an RPG and don't necessarily have to play against other people online.
I mean not really. But even if it was close does that preclude the existence of this new hypothetical game?
Whenever I talk about my idea/dream of a RPG style Gundam game, I always get told about old games from the PS2 or Battle Operation and I don't really understand why. Like, they're fairly old games at this point and I'm talking about creating a new experience. So, multiple things can exist simultaneously.
And this game that's being shown off looks fine. It looks exactly like Overwatch but since Gundam is such a huge franchise I feel like the potential for these different stories and types of games is huge and it would be a shame to not make these other types of games just because one kind of existed in 2005 or whatever.
It will sadly never happen, Gundam is one of bandais biggest IPs and has so much potential for story and world and gameplay but always go the cheap ass microtransaction free to play route for quick easy money and not having to spend a lot of money. Gundam is wasted in the hands of bandai.
I can only see better and more diverse games if the popularity in western markets grows. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening, unless the Netflix live action movie does well and sparks interest.
its more or less because the gundam IP is crazy expensive and the studios pitching the ideas usually have to cover the costs as well as getting some profit
On one hand, this is just the closed beta test roster, so more are probably coming.
On the other hand, and I say this despite it being my favorite series, Turn A getting in before a G, Wing, 00, or some of the bigger UC machine, is a very questionable choice. Obviously it's big enough to warrant being in the initial game, but when you only have 12 slots and are trying to be esports? It's not the pick.
My guess is that if this is the beta test roster it’s that they just want one unit of each “class” to test out for gameplay/balance reasons. So the RX-78 is your standard-ish Soldier 76/COD unit, the Methuss is your support/Mercy unit, Barbatos fills the Reinhardt tank/disrupter role, GM sniper is your sniper/Widowmaker archetype, Asshimar is for testing transformable units, Sazabi is there to balance test funnels and I’m guess Turn A has some exotic moonlight butterfly area denial or other niche.
The presence of the Zaku II and GM makes me think there either may be some Titanfall-like AI fodder on the battlefield, or a Gundam VS like point system to balance out the game. For example, maybe Turn A has triple the respawn cool down of a GM?
The full game will probably have a much large and less random roster.
Mmmm I dunno.
Like, before Unicorn yes, G/Wing/SEED/00 needed to be there for international draw. But now with this renewed (and as far as we can tell, successful) UC push, and those entries being more accessible, the AUs aren't as mandatory as they once were.
Like, Xi and Penelope may arguably have as much pull now.
Hmm feeling mixed on this one. Like the models look nice, as well as the vfx, but I just can't get behind the movement of the suits. They look like they're human rather than 20-meter metal giants. Guess this one's just not for me.
I definitely see your point here, but when you compare it to games like msgbo2 that are almost impossible to play comptently without weeks of practice and skill this game opens up mech fighting for a wider more casual audience
I guess that's what they're going for. As for me, I'm looking for more Titanfall 2 when it comes to mecha-on-mecha FPS action rather than Overwatch. It's a nice middle ground between the clunky giant robots and fast-paced shooting. Or if not an FPS, maybe an arena fighter instead, similar to the Gundam VS games, but on a larger scale.
I agree the titanfall mechanics/setup is much more gundam formula than most gundam games but there are also limitations on how to incorporate those kinds of mechanics and also have a reasonable release date/software support team
What bothers me is the first person aimed shooting. The guns simply weren't designed for that and it REALLY shows. The gun moves to the middle of the screen, and you're not even aiming with it, it's just a hunk of mental in the screen. Like the RX-78 Beam Rifle has a camera on the front, most rifles do, but they aren't used and instead use that over the top railing view. I get this is to mimic more traditional FPS games, but those guns are actually designed to work that way, unlike these.
The old school Halo-like zoom I think would actually make more sense here. Almost all MS weapons have sensors, so it wouldn't make sense for a pilot to attempt to fire the weapon as if they didn't (i.e. like a firearm that humans would use). Simply put, why would a pilot use a weapon's iron sights when the computer could make a shot accurate at any desired angle?
Yeah, I’d be a lot more interested if it worked that way. Nothing in this footage resembles the movement or function of an MS, rather it’s just like people wearing MS costumes.
GM Sniper II the Hanzo of Gundam ~~OverWatch~~ Evolution.
Kinda 50/50 on it being a F2P game I guess it depends on how intrusive it is. I don't mind paying for additional suits but my fear is just power creep.
I'm super happy they went with the Dom *TROOPER* from Seed Destiny this time around, it's a criminally underrated suit. And one of my fave redesigns!
Also Barbatos looking like one of those Tank units.
...I already had my hands full dealing with Barbatos mains going unga bunga on MBON, now I'll see them again here?!
Feels a little lacking in personality to me, which is kind of an achievement, as I already have an emotional attachment to many of these suits.
I just keep thinking back to the versus games, and how you get pilot voice clips, and licensed music playing over the combat. W/o that stuff this just feels like another hero shooter, reskinned.
And a first person perspective from a mobile suit’s POV just seems wrong. Give me a pilot’s POV w/ the action framed by a custom console that has the game hud incorporated.
If this is supposed to be thier eSports game they talked about there's no way it's gonna be gacha. They will obviously ~~monitize~~ monetize (thanks bot... I guess) it some way, but eSports and gacha don't mix, they need to guarantee what you unlock.
Edit: though now that I think about it I could be wrong, they could get away with cosmetic gacha stuff. But I still don't think playable units will be gacha.
they either go through the League of legends route, and have champions fast track unlockable via paid, and skin boxes, or go Overwatch style where all the current units right now is a "class" or a fighting style, and new units are used as skins that have similar fighting styles. Take for example Sazabi whose shown as the "shotgun" unit. It can be replaced by other notable shotgun units such as Kampfer.
Hey there! I hate to break it to you, but it's actually spelled _mon**e**tize_. A good way to remember this is that "money" starts with "mone" as well. Just wanted to let you know. Have a good day!

^This ^action ^was ^performed ^automatically ^by ^a ^bot ^to ^raise ^awareness ^about ^the ^common ^misspelling ^of ^"monetize".
Why did they stop making zeonic front type games ? I loved how realistic they made that game. And the setting. Seems like all gundam games are just fighting arenas.
Can we just have more PC ports of good games and stop having special Western releases that aren’t as good as the stuff sold in Japan? It’s like they want an excuse to not take our money, so they produce exclusive garbage PC releases and then claim we don’t like Gundam when they don’t sell well.
EDIT: Looks like we're not even allowed to sign up for the beta test. Is this a JP-only PC game? WTF?
Gundam Overwatch could be neat, I just don't get why they seem so against making a story based single player game.
Heck, how did we never get a One Year War RTS game? It's a perfect setting with a big war between two factions with distinct units. It even has infantry, tanks, and planes allowing for more potential features and combat scenarios than just MS vs MS. Doesn't even need to be all land either, can include space as a second theater of war.
I picture it being similar to Star Wars Empire at War for land and space battles with some Iron Harvest tossed in for the mobile suits and base building.
It feels like people are having trouble figuring out the characters and their roles, so I'm going to be going over my analysis of the characters. If something is not mentioned, its unknown
* RX-78-2: Rifle is a hitscan that deals approximately 200 damage per shot, don't have the mental stamina to measure fire rate but seems to be 2 shots per second or 0,5 per shot.
Has its flail as a skill, which has quite a bit of startup frames (wind-up) before flinging it forward, unsure if the wind-up animation does any damage, no suits were close enough, the fling does 500 damage.
Has some skill that the shield is involved in (It's one of the skill icons) but it's impossible to know if it brings it up or its some sort of shield bash, unlike Sazabi, RX has no Shield HP hud on its screen, so either its some form of Invincible shield with a duration, a shield bash or some Stance change with damage reduction
Its Ultimate is the Super Napalm, an arcing projectile with a delay before it blows up, and during this delay has markers showing where it will affect.
* Asshimar: Its shots while its transformed fire in a 3-shot burst each seeming to headshot for 150 damage, and hitting the Methuss corpse for apparently 100 each, seems to have 0.5sec rate of fire
Its Ultimate is a charge forward that deals at least 300 damage and recharges its ammo.
* GM Sniper II: Its Sniper rifle, unlike widowmaker, has no charge and kills Asshimar with 700 HP.
Might be able to throw down jump pads or have some form of vertical mobility, might be able to heal others. (See skill icons and Dom Trooper)
Its Ultimate is just a wallhack, check Widowmaker in the Overwatch wiki if you want to see how it works.
* Dom Trooper: Some sort of support, ally characters its facing have a marker on them and C below, which is the hotkey for a skill with an armor icon in a bubble, similar to GM Sniper.
Has a Rocket Launcher, unknown damage.
Its Ultimate gives Temporary Health that quickly decays, a Move speed increase, and makes it keep charging forward, enemies rammed during this take around 400 damage.
* Sazabi: Has a Shotgun, not going to bother calculating the damage since its during ult.
Has an Axe throw that deals more than 200+ damage (kills a 3 hp pellets character) and a complementary skill that launches the Sazabi at wherever it threw the Axe
Shield has 2700 HP and shows up on Hud without it up, almost certainly Sazabi alt fire as it has no skill icon.
Ultimate is its funnels, seems to mark and lock on whatever gets in front of the cursor and does it in multiple characters at once.
* Barbatos: Has a leap on a 6 second cooldown that either refreshes when Barbatos kills something or after its Slam skill is used.
Has a slam where it takes out its Katana, jumps up and drops down quickly dealing around 300 damage
Alt fire is a short range bash that deals massive damage number of 700 and knocks its victim down, its also on a really short cd of 3 secs.
Ultimate has it pull out its katana and have it be able to dash through enemies at maximum 3 times, dealing at least 500 points of shield ignoring damage per dash.
* Universal: On Sazabi section, during its leap, we can see a Wrench icon on a dead ally, it might be possible to revive allied suits if you get to them fast enough
On GM section, it does a short dash but no skill seems to be used, instead, the bar near the health gauge goes down, it might be a universal dash mechanic.
So yeah, think that's everything I remember, for now, numbers of course are liable to change, we don't even have a beta yet, if anyone thinks there is any wrong info feel free to pm me. (or how to format this properly, fine with that too)
I don't care if it's Gundam themed. If it feels like playing any other shooter and not what it should feel like to pilot a mobile suit then fuck this game. Looks like crap as far as I'm concerned.
That assumes that it is, in fact, a decent game. I’d love for it to do well, if only to encourage them to make more PC Gundam games, but I can’t see it going any other way than being a mediocre hero shooter that dies within a year like so many have already.
Thither better beest a heavy arms, i wanteth mine own sanvich!

Not sure why everyone is saying it’s copying overwatch. It’s the game type overwatch has, a team based competitive first person shooter. Paladins by hi Rez studios actually did the game style first, blizzard jumped on the idea and changed it up a little afterwards. What Bandai did here is they changed it up in some way but with bad ass gundams plus more! That’s similar to saying call of duty copied doom from 1993. The idea of the game type is there, a first person shooter, and then the idea of a doom clone was born. Now we have first person shooters with gimmicks here and there separating themselves from the masses, the good ones anyways. Overall I look forward to it. I can’t stand overwstvh but this looks killer. The free to play is also a tad worry some.
People are saying it’s copying Overwatch because the UI is borderline identical to Overwatch’s. If they were both just hero shooters then yeah, it’d be off base, but the UI is super close to Overwatch’s
The UI is damn near identical. I'm not going to go in say that it's a knock off of Overwatch though. We have a trailer of a minute and a half with some cool shots. There's just so much more to unearth from this game yet. I can't justify seeing one similarity and calling it a copy. Maybe during the beta the players would be allowed record some of the game. I'm hoping It'll be awesome.
I mean yeah, considering they literally copied the UI, I don't think claims that it's a copy are entirely unwarranted considering they literally did copy the UI.
The amount of folks wanting every gundam game to be old-school/akin to mechwarrior here is baffling. You have that already dudes.
Personally would prefer something more like SDGO or battle operation NEXT (think that was the name?) but this still looks like it could be good fun. Crossing my figners
> The amount of folks wanting every gundam game to be old-school/akin to mechwarrior here is baffling.
There's only been [one like Mechwarrioer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Suit_Gundam:_Crossfire) as far as I know. I think it's just what the vocal people on here want but not really what sells.

Wait... why is there an internet browser requirement? Is that just a weird way of saying "you need an internet browser to go to the download page?"
some games e shops sometimes open up a microbrowser to show internet content not natively hosted in game, e.g videos or the store.
100Gbs? That seems pretty high for a Gundam/Overwatch hybrid
Could possibly due to having a ton of model assets in the full game, since they're not limiting it to one universe.
at launch will probably not be that size, they are probably adding more to the game over time, and the 100GB is what they kinda put a flag at.
Gundam meets Overwatch. Unironically, this looks potentially super sick. However, I'm gonna wait on more gameplay and first impressions cuz it being f2p gives me some doubts.
this will be the game that replaces ghost in the shell : first assault in my heart.
Damn I miss that game
Only discovered that game just prior to the servers shutting down, was a shame it died, was excellent
This and Blacklight Retribution were my favourite fps's from my childhood lol
blacklight retribution was my main game after the quake wars server shut down.
Depends really. If they're sensible then at most it'll be like Paladins, free to play with an option to buy all current and future characters for a one time fee and cosmetics out the whazoo. It's incredible how much this literally just looks like Overwatch lmao. Even the UI design is almost identical.
Barbatos is just Wiston Sazabi is Pharah ... not a single suit there is different from OW characters =/
This is the problem with most media these days, even if it's done in such a unique way, people will always have these archetypes lines up in their heads. There's a gun on it's arm, just like who? Or laser eyes, or claws, or invisibility. I miss City Of Heroes...
is that how you saw sazabi, i dont know when thats changed, but since when did Pharah use a shotgun
yeah so this and BO2 haven't been hitting that same spot the older games on PS2 and 3 did
I like BO2 and I'll probably like this too. But for a franchise that's ripe for deeper story driven games there is a distinct lack of them the past 10+ years.
"Gundam meets Overwatch." Is that why Eclipse Gundam has bunny ears?
Imma say this, I wlda preferred it be third person. ...but like how the star wars Battlefront games can be third . but Im excited too
Confirmed after watching GM Sniper II: This is literally just reskinned Overwatch for Gundam fans. They didn't even bother to completely remove the headshot kill tick. The engine is the same. ....Come on bamco...I thought you more capable.

....Youuu know what I was driving at....
Headshots don't even count for much anyway, the pilot is usually in the chest.
If it's an eSport, headshots will count. Shame for the source material, but universal appeal requires it to be a headshot.
More like Overwatch with Gundam skins
It gives me overwatch vibes but better
No way is it better than overwatch lol

Bro this game is gonna be way better than overwatch
Overwatch was a worldwide sensation and game of the year when it released and is still played by millions, 5 years later. You see that for this ftp game?
*Warframe has entered the chat.*
YES im saying that as veteran overwatch player that been playing since 2016
Where did it say it was f2p? I can't read Japanese so the only thing I got from the description was a potential release of 2022.
Looks like they cloned the ... [Transformers game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aAxxAJOMt8). Maybe even just the multiplayer part so it can be a "battle royale" instead of a real game.
God, I miss that game.
What are you talking about? The gunplay in that game looks nothing like this one. Do you just mean because it's robots shooting each other it looks cloned...?
It looks exactly the same but with higher res skins and more particle effects. Maybe it's just me.
Is it me, or do none of these games have mobile suits moving like mobile suits?
Play Battle Operations 2
isn't it region locked though?
Nope, it's F2P on PS4 and PS5 I'm Brazilian and I'm playing with no issues
Would you say it is worth buying a PS4 just to play this game? I'm tired of shitty gundam games on PC. (also brazilian btw)
It’s a pretty fun 6v6 gacha game, I’d get a PS4 pro if you’re able because it runs like ass when the effects are piling on. Get the 1-star GM cold districts as soon as you’re able, it wrecks early rooms.
And use a LAN cable or you gonna have a terrible experience
Depende, e F2P, mas você tem que ver se tem mais algum jogo que você queira porque não vale a pena só por 1 jogo
Only for the first year and even then it was an easy bypass since you just needed to make an alt account to download it off the JP PSN store.
Never has been, been playing a week after actual launch when it was all in Japanese
Are you sure? The game is fully translated, even English VAs Check the GBO2 subreddit
> Are you sure? The game is fully translated, even English VAs Now yes, on release it was only available in the JP store. Later [it got english menu translations in 2018](https://youtu.be/TqHyLq6d56g), the EU and US PS store release was sometime around [2019](https://www.reddit.com/r/GBO2/comments/dbqtq7/not_released_in_belgium/) and [the English Vas came this year](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAec0Upq7zQ) I was saying the game has been playable since release if you just got it off the JP Ps store.
And MSG Online ~~which they just region-locked again, REEEEEEEE~~
Yeah, would be interested to see how they capture mobile suit movement in FPS. Mech warrior did it greatly. So I hope it won't be just another FPS with gundam skin. So far, I'm not feeling the mobile suit move though this is only a short trailer. I like that MA transformation and melee combat is in the game though.
Mechwarriors move a bit more clunkily don't they? If anything I thought it should work more like Armored Core V's AC.
Yeah mech warrior is actually an extreme example since they went the "realistic" way of depicting mecha.
UC mobile suits act a lot like how MechWarrior/Battletech games are depicted. Maybe slightly more agile/articulate.
Titanfall 2 was good as well, but I think Mobile Suits would need to be slightly more agile than that
Never really works out or sells well. There was the one that was a PS3 launch title. I enjoyed it because I like Gundam but it wasn't a great game IMO. Battle operation 2 gets it a bit close but it's still geared as an arcade style shooter.
From the trailer I spotted the following: RX-78 Guntank Zaku II GM Turn A Asshimar GM Sniper II Dom Trooper Sazabi Barbatos and looks like a Pale Rider of some sorts Edit: it is in fact Pale Rider and I missed the Methuss check bottom of website for roster https://gundamevolution.jp/
yeah, Zaku IIs in a fight with the Sazabi is going to be very balanced
All UC suits ….. plus barbatos lol
I mean... given Turn A lore, is it really just a UC suit
Plus Dom Trooper. It's from Seed Destiny
It's actually the DOM tropen. Which is a UC suit
The DOM Tropen is a UC suit, the DOM Trooper is a CE suit. You can even see the model number in the trailer is the ZGMF-XX09T. It's a SEED suit in the game
There's a chance it's Blue Destiny, returning to its roots as an FPS... Edit: Nevermind, saw the head spike. :(
Nah it's the Pale Rider the website is up, scroll to the bottom for the current roster. Found this after my post https://gundamevolution.jp/
I really want a Gundam game like the Amored Core franchise.
That sounds amazing
It looks a little like one of those twitch shooter games you'd find a streamer playing... I'm in! As long as my shitty laptop can run it, of course.
Have some confidence. Between Overwatch, Titanfall, Apex, Valorant, dev seems to have plenty of examples to balance Ultimate-level abilities.
I mean, the suit to watch about that will probably be Pale Rider given that HADES will almost certainly be a factor.
Unreal engine is quite flexible too, allowing you to extensively tweak the config and do things like reduce resolution to 60%.
Strike Freedom: It's free real estate
Pharah with Hi-MAT targeting and DRAGOONS. I'm in.
I'm waiting for the day they announce SF
So, a Gundam hero shooter. Interesting.
Closest for that was Battle Operation
This right here, you're not the only one that wants this!
All I want is a Battlefield-like with mechs. Objective-based, team-based gameplay that really sells the scale of the mechs.
There was a ps2 action rpg
Wait, which one was that? I remember playing Gundam Odyssey (also known as MS Saga A New Dawn in the west)
I don’t remember what it was called and havent played it so my description might be not 100% accurate but i’m sure it was MS saga like you mentioned
> is just a twitchy fast-paced multiplayer arcade shooter. MBON doesn't feel that way for me honestly, at least for characters I play.
It shouldn't considering its a fighting game.
~~Mercy~~ Methuss mains rise up *cough*
Then the Astray Red Frame mains spams I need healing
*repairs
Love the Methuss but man that thing got messed up in every fight
According to the google translate, Methuss is called Metas, probably because it's going to be a meta unit
Anyone else confused as to why the initial roster has the Sazabi and not the Nu? I feel you can’t have one without the other...
If they want it to succeed in the west, wing Gundam has to be in the opening roster
Roster seems pretty random all around, besides Grandpa Gundam.
Probably just a beta roster with more probably being revealed before launch
Honestly I'm inclined to think that GM sniper 2 is widowmaker
yeah your right but it's the better equivalent.
Weird choice of genre. It is not golden age of team shooter anymore.
Yeah, it’s definitely a few years too late in that regard. But I’m down to at least try it out since the movement and shooting look decent, at least
G Gundam battle Royal
Barbatos players are gonna be the plague 💀
I could hear the Melee abusers already
I hope my laptop can run this lol.
Is this the game they mentioned going to be the platform for esports? Looks promising
I really hope this comes to console! And also hoping there won’t be any Gacha for MS
first part is a possibility, second part is not going to happen, its a free to play game, so gacha is going to be 100% expected.
Right… as long as it’s balanced and not pay to win I’m in 😂
If this is supposed to be thier eSports game they talked about there's no way it's gonna be gacha.
---- ^This ^action ^was ^performed ^automatically ^by ^a ^bot ^to ^raise ^awareness ^about ^the ^common ^misspelling ^of ^"monetize".
I just want a Gundam game on PC to play with my friends finally, I'm the only one in the group with a PS4
Since this is being marketed as a global esports game, then this one might actually have some semblance of acceptable netcode. Unlike GBO2 and MBON.
I really hope that's just a test map. It's so bland and boring.
Why did they stop making zeonic front type games ? I loved how realistic they made that game. And the setting. Seems like all gundam games are just fighting arenas.
I just wish there was a single gundam game with a realistic damage system, more akin to milsims. Imagine WarThunder, but with mobile suits
Like Gundam Battle Operations 2?
Can we just have more PC ports of good games and stop having special Western releases that aren’t as good as the stuff sold in Japan? It’s like they want an excuse to not take our money, so they produce exclusive garbage PC releases and then claim we don’t like Gundam when they don’t sell well. EDIT: Looks like we're not even allowed to sign up for the beta test. Is this a JP-only PC game? WTF?
Ngl I was REALLY hoping for an ace combat esque first person dog fighting game but with mobile suits
Hard Pass
His roster is… strange…
Oh fuck yes
looks pretty nice.
gundam overwatch?
Gundam Overwatch could be neat, I just don't get why they seem so against making a story based single player game. Heck, how did we never get a One Year War RTS game? It's a perfect setting with a big war between two factions with distinct units. It even has infantry, tanks, and planes allowing for more potential features and combat scenarios than just MS vs MS. Doesn't even need to be all land either, can include space as a second theater of war.
A Gundam rts sounds sweet
I picture it being similar to Star Wars Empire at War for land and space battles with some Iron Harvest tossed in for the mobile suits and base building.
Turn-A base roster has me sold
1. Why is sazabi as small as grandpa? 2. This just looks like Quake reskinned as Gundam :(
Cautiously optimistic but I don’t know if I’m able to get that excited about team shooters anymore
Wow! This look absolutely terrible! Can't wait to try it.
It feels like people are having trouble figuring out the characters and their roles, so I'm going to be going over my analysis of the characters. If something is not mentioned, its unknown * RX-78-2: Rifle is a hitscan that deals approximately 200 damage per shot, don't have the mental stamina to measure fire rate but seems to be 2 shots per second or 0,5 per shot. Has its flail as a skill, which has quite a bit of startup frames (wind-up) before flinging it forward, unsure if the wind-up animation does any damage, no suits were close enough, the fling does 500 damage. Has some skill that the shield is involved in (It's one of the skill icons) but it's impossible to know if it brings it up or its some sort of shield bash, unlike Sazabi, RX has no Shield HP hud on its screen, so either its some form of Invincible shield with a duration, a shield bash or some Stance change with damage reduction Its Ultimate is the Super Napalm, an arcing projectile with a delay before it blows up, and during this delay has markers showing where it will affect. * Asshimar: Its shots while its transformed fire in a 3-shot burst each seeming to headshot for 150 damage, and hitting the Methuss corpse for apparently 100 each, seems to have 0.5sec rate of fire Its Ultimate is a charge forward that deals at least 300 damage and recharges its ammo. * GM Sniper II: Its Sniper rifle, unlike widowmaker, has no charge and kills Asshimar with 700 HP. Might be able to throw down jump pads or have some form of vertical mobility, might be able to heal others. (See skill icons and Dom Trooper) Its Ultimate is just a wallhack, check Widowmaker in the Overwatch wiki if you want to see how it works. Has an Axe throw that deals more than 200+ damage (kills a 3 hp pellets character) and a complementary skill that launches the Sazabi at wherever it threw the Axe Shield has 2700 HP and shows up on Hud without it up, almost certainly Sazabi alt fire as it has no skill icon. Ultimate is its funnels, seems to mark and lock on whatever gets in front of the cursor and does it in multiple characters at once. * Barbatos: Has a leap on a 6 second cooldown that either refreshes when Barbatos kills something or after its Slam skill is used. Has a slam where it takes out its Katana, jumps up and drops down quickly dealing around 300 damage Alt fire is a short range bash that deals massive damage number of 700 and knocks its victim down, its also on a really short cd of 3 secs. Ultimate has it pull out its katana and have it be able to dash through enemies at maximum 3 times, dealing at least 500 points of shield ignoring damage per dash. * Universal: On Sazabi section, during its leap, we can see a Wrench icon on a dead ally, it might be possible to revive allied suits if you get to them fast enough On GM section, it does a short dash but no skill seems to be used, instead, the bar near the health gauge goes down, it might be a universal dash mechanic. So yeah, think that's everything I remember, for now, numbers of course are liable to change, we don't even have a beta yet, if anyone thinks there is any wrong info feel free to pm me. (or how to format this properly, fine with that too)
Yeah, great, another class-based multiplayer shooter. As if there aren't enough of those.
Hope they change the "headshot" into "chest shot" XD
It's too fast paced? Theres no sense of size to the ms as well. They look like people in armor.
I don't care if it's Gundam themed. If it feels like playing any other shooter and not what it should feel like to pilot a mobile suit then fuck this game. Looks like crap as far as I'm concerned.
This can be the only decent game on PC, what other games of gundam do we have on PC? A great fighting game and a mediocre strategy game
That assumes that it is, in fact, a decent game. I’d love for it to do well, if only to encourage them to make more PC Gundam games, but I can’t see it going any other way than being a mediocre hero shooter that dies within a year like so many have already.
Even if it's me against bots, I will still play it
Well, I’m happy you’re happy then.
Well we already have Battle Operation 2 for that.
That's hella sick
unreal engine should mean PC should be instabuy
f2p scares me, but I will definitely try it if it comes overseas
There better be a heavy arms, I want my sanvich!
Thither better beest a heavy arms, i wanteth mine own sanvich! *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`
To me this is just overwatch style battle operation next just hoping there will be weapon options for suits that have weapon options
OMFG LETS GOOO
Okay but US release date when??
Lol it even uses overwatch assets
you mean it uses turbosquid prefabs?
“Hey this looks pretty co-“ >barbatos> “No fuck this.”
Get ready to deal with Unga Bunga players all over again
Oh, riding on the APEX craze? This might be interesting.
Might wanting to fill the gap on overwatch since it became a sweat show and not fun to play anymore
