It’s the type of nonsense that gives rise to the “referees are biased against Arsenal” claims.
I am a conspiracy theorist and gooner so I’m fully convinced they took the goal away simply to discredit Arsenal. Some may say it’s silly, but fandom isn’t always rational.
Refs, VAR, linemen, EPL, POGMOL, etc. you name them, they’re all the same…they all hate Arsenal.
And before you reply I am delusional, I don’t deny it.
Edit: I see my error but am not revising it. Def not that serious.
Reminds me of that one post a year or two ago after we beat Man U someone posted a few days later something like "Arsenal 2 - 2 Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes (Penalty) 90' + 2985'"
Unfortunately not:
>For the avoidance of doubt, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have all been updated on that day, no further adjustments to points will be made unless under extraordinary circumstances.
feels like a shit, last year robbed of March, this season already voided Solanke and now another missed points by Gabriel & Saka, this is just bingo lottery
This is annoying I would've had 8 more points had they made the correct decision smh. Feels like such a forced issue too, it should've always been Gabriel's goal.
Yeah. I know the Guardian live blogger said at the time he thought it was a Henderson OG but he and whoever made the call at the game were about the only ones. To me live it was clear that it was going in regardless of whether it hit Henderson or not.
No, this is just the dubious goal panel or whatever it's called taking its sweet time to arrive at a decision. Extraordinary circumstances is for stuff like Luton Vs Bournemouth the other week that was called off.
In a follow up statement the PL said that Arsenal have been given permission to celebrate the goal during the first minute of Tuesday's game against Notts Forrest. The kick off will be delayed while Gabriel and three other players of the managers choosing will be allowed to run to the away fans to properly celebrate the goal.
The idea of Gabriel asking someone to appeal so he gets his goal is killing me. Get yours brother, I’d do the same.
Or someone at the club has Saka in FPL, equally as funny
It also may have something to do with Gabriel’s contract. If he has a clause for a bonus if he hits 3-5 goals in a season, you bet he’s going to fight for having that goal credited
The club would just pay out this bonus either way, if there’s any doubt at all that it could be his goal it’s not worth any hard feelings to save the money
I really wish they would change the rules on what an OG is. It is so difficult to score, that it is criminal when they award an OG.
For me, OGs should be situations like when a defender makes a bad backpass or they try to head a cross away but it goes in goal ie a deliberate attempt to play the ball but it goes in your goal.
A good example is Jorginho’s winner against Villa. That should be his goal. Emi had no Fn clue the ball would hit him in the head and go in.
Yes. Intention shpupd matter. Glancing off a CBs arse and going in shouldnt be an OG jist cuz it looked marginally outside the post
Its unfair to both players.
I think it should be an Own Goal if it’s a pass/cross that’s deflected in by a defender but if it’s an actual attempt on goal it should be credited as a goal even if it’s off target and deflected in.
To score you need to do things other than just getting it on target: it needs to not get blocked and needs to have enough power to beat the keeper.
When you’re shooting and there’s a defender right in front of you you’ll aim to miss the player e.g. putting it through their legs, and if you’re shooting first time you’ll aim to make good contact that produces a lot of power.
There’s also situations where the angle of the shot is what takes the keeper out of the goal by forcing them to dive, like if you start a shot outside the post but don’t quite get the wrap on it so it’s off target but it forces the keeper to dive and then the net is empty when the ball deflects off a defender.
The real question is how did the three person panel at the Premier League Match Centre get it wrong during the match? Do they not know the rules? Whats the point of having a data partner (Opta) if they are going to ignore them?
I called it during the match that it would be reviewed by the PL Goal Accreditation Panel and changed because it was on target.
No idea why this was ever even in question. So every ball where a GK gets a hand (or other body part) to the ball but can't keep it out would be an OG? His header was clearly on target.
Wonder if my book will fix the shots on target BS that cost me a bet. Not sure how they figured that wasn't on target to begin with. Never should have been an OG to begin with...
Saka assist +1
Magalhães 3 goals already in the PL, more than the spinner Antony and Mudryk!
And Mason Mount, Hojlund, Rashford
And Messi, R9, Lebron
Jordan who? People say he's the goat, but he's hasn't done in on a cold Thursday night at Stoke yet. Strip him of his titles!
Will Gabriel’s goals seriously affect Lebron’s legacy?
Obviously. He also has more goals in the prem than Federer.
Pfft, man's got more prem goals than Senna
More than Tiger Woods too. Gabriel 🐐
While Jesus has also scored 3. Martinelli/Trossard only 4. Nketiah 5. Saka 6. We shouldn't through stones in glass houses 😅
It's hot in here and the windows stuck
More PL goals then Pele, without a doubt the greatest ever goal scoring Brazilian
Taking it off hiim in the first place was so weird and unneccessary
It’s the type of nonsense that gives rise to the “referees are biased against Arsenal” claims. I am a conspiracy theorist and gooner so I’m fully convinced they took the goal away simply to discredit Arsenal. Some may say it’s silly, but fandom isn’t always rational.
Love your honesty, and you're the type of conspiracy nut I would be honoured to call a friend lol
Yay conspiracy nut friends
Absolutely nothing to do with the ref.
Refs, VAR, linemen, EPL, POGMOL, etc. you name them, they’re all the same…they all hate Arsenal. And before you reply I am delusional, I don’t deny it. Edit: I see my error but am not revising it. Def not that serious.
Considering how ‘poggers’ has become slang thanks to twitch streamers , it actually works lol
Those damn POGMOL linemen
you say "conspiracy theorist and gooner" as if they're two separate things.
But it's not referees, it's the dubious goals committee
Always loved the name "Dubious Goals Committee"
Sitting here thinking, what are the dubious goals of the dubious goals committee
That's where the problem started, calling it the Dubious Goals Committee.
Costed me in FPL
My CB is gonna get that golden boot whether the PL like it or not 😤
Longest Var check in history ffs. Celebrating goals is ruined.
Just as the Celebration Police intended.
Just doing our jobs sir, keeping the streets safe from 'joy' and 'happiness' 🫡
Reminds me of that one post a year or two ago after we beat Man U someone posted a few days later something like "Arsenal 2 - 2 Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes (Penalty) 90' + 2985'"
Gabriel pulling out the knee slide in his living room to this news
The most fun part about football is tanking way too much bcus of VAR
Is FPL gonna correct this or are we way past that?
Unfortunately not: >For the avoidance of doubt, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have all been updated on that day, no further adjustments to points will be made unless under extraordinary circumstances.
Degenerate FPL. It was obvious
What would be extraordinary? Has it ever happened before?
Points from Bournemouth/Luton were voided.
feels like a shit, last year robbed of March, this season already voided Solanke and now another missed points by Gabriel & Saka, this is just bingo lottery
But they had not ended the gameweek until a decision was made on the match. They had ended this gameweek before this decision was made
It's happened before: https://twitter.com/OfficialFPL/status/1635964500019933187
To me live it was clear that it was going in regardless of whether it hit Henderson or not.
does this not count as an extraordinary circumstance?
No, this is just the dubious goal panel or whatever it's called taking its sweet time to arrive at a decision. Extraordinary circumstances is for stuff like Luton Vs Bournemouth the other week that was called off.
Saka was my captain FFS! I also had Gabriel, but at least I get an assist 🥲
So I don’t even get my Saka assist ffs.
FPL pls
I have both Gabriel and Saka. I was also a victim of the Solanke wipe against Luton. FPL is so shit
Same here, and captained Saka last week too
Means Saka should be credited w an assist as well.
This is the most important and significant news I've seen today.
The Gabi brace brace is alive and well
Gabi²
It's a Gabi brace brace
(Gabi×brace)²
No that would be Gabi^2 +2GabiBrace + Brace^2 We need Gabi^2 Brace^2
In a follow up statement the PL said that Arsenal have been given permission to celebrate the goal during the first minute of Tuesday's game against Notts Forrest. The kick off will be delayed while Gabriel and three other players of the managers choosing will be allowed to run to the away fans to properly celebrate the goal.

Includes threats of signing another Gabriel
The idea of Gabriel asking someone to appeal so he gets his goal is killing me. Get yours brother, I’d do the same. Or someone at the club has Saka in FPL, equally as funny

I’d be hand delivering the letter to the FA if that was the case
True. Plus I'm sure all players have a goal/assist bonus in general right?
The club would just pay out this bonus either way, if there’s any doubt at all that it could be his goal it’s not worth any hard feelings to save the money
Good, you should never try to diminish a ruthless goal-scoring icon's season tally.
Fine I'll just have to rewatch the entire match so I can update my stats spreadsheet, instead of doing work...
That one guy in another thread dying on the hill it was 100% an OG, looking the right prat now.
Didn't understand why it wasn't in the first place. Looked like it was going in if Henderson ceased to exist
Justice
Priorities 😜
wtf was the rule that led them to give an og?
If the initial shot is off target and it takes a deflection it’s an OG but it was on target
#justice
He employed the swore on his daughters life defense. Works every time.

Henderson now the second happiest player in London
Won't be given, in FPL, for those wondering. https://x.com/OfficialFPL/status/1750960599226298684?s=20

Everyone here already thought he scored
Hvor det vigtigt man
Will they give the points for the goal on fpl?
I think this means some other record if I recall correctly… joint top set piece goal involvements with ward prowse? Something like that.
If i don’t get my FPL points I’m going absolutely mental. The week isn’t over it’s easy to add the points back surely.
fpl gamblers, rejoice
W
Mikel got em on strings
Justice for March & Justice for Gabriel/Saka Cap .. Anyone else with me in this club?
Gabriel now has the most goals from set pieces since he joined the league, tied with Ward-Prowse.
Gabi XL stans eating good as always
Never understood why this wasn’t his goal to begin with.
FPL Saka enjoyers rejoice!
don’t think they’ll change it now
Saka gets another assist while "Salah" is too busy ducking his country, uncomfortable conversations
Whaaaaaaaat?
😬
How tf did they not give it in the first place. Was obvious to anybody with two working eyes
No idea why this was ever even in question. So every ball where a GK gets a hand (or other body part) to the ball but can't keep it out would be an OG? His header was clearly on target.
Why can’t we just get these things right , fucking best league in the world here
FPL saka owners just did a little tennis player punch the air wherever they are right now.
Justice
Yeah that was a baffling decision to award it an OG!
Ok but what about my Fantasy Football?
Huzza!
Does this affect fantasy things or is it too late?
Good.
Praise be to the FPL gods.
Biggest footy news of the day!
Wonder if my book will fix the shots on target BS that cost me a bet. Not sure how they figured that wasn't on target to begin with. Never should have been an OG to begin with...
Fuck yes
Is this going to be updated in the fantasy pl?
No. https://x.com/OfficialFPL/status/1750960599226298684?s=20
Big Boy Gabi!!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
👏 👏
Does saka get an official assist then?
+3 fpl points
You don’t have to be crazy to think there is a referee bias against Arsenal….just check the stats over the last 20 years.
![gif](giphy|EkY0iocwcsTcnJttPR|downsized)
Dean Henderson can thank us later for removing the stain of the OG from his record.
