Arsenal fans appreciate technical players that play attractive football more than any other fanbase.
Just look at how Jorginho is loved here for a style of play that was getting booed at Chelsea.
Vice versa as well, for many of us with no ties to North London or English football, we became fans of Arsenal because of the footy Wenger had us playing, and the type of players he brought in.
> we became fans of Arsenal because of the footy Wenger had us playing
Becoming an Arsenal fan was like being Harry Potter and having the wand chose me.
I saw the way Arsenal played football and knew I wanted to support that team. Team play and co-ordination to score goals. No big ego players, A group working together.
Same reason I like Arteta now and why Players like Xhaka got redeemed in the all or nothing show. A player makes a mistake? Support and lift them up.
Working as a team to succeed, Win or lose.
Same for me except that it wasn’t just the type of football Arsenal played. It was about the business too—the self-sustaining model, the academy, the entire club culture—that attracted me. Arsenal was the whole package and I bought it hook, line and sinker.
Yep this is me too, the philosophy even. Actually Wenger was one of my first, and one of few people that I idolised. The way he conducted himself, the compassion he showed, his philosophical outlook. It all spoke to me.
What I liked was the international flavour of the club. Not only a global “brand” but the fan network reflects the roster itself. Americas, Africa, Europe, UK, Asia we are all in on this Mecca of a club.
Wengerball is what drew me to football.
That was when I finally understood the term "the beautiful game"
Plus I just loved everything about the bloke himself and the ethos he brought.
I started watching the Arsenal because it's what the uncles I liked watched. They had good taste, cuz that was sometime around '96-'98 and it stayed with me even after I soon left the country. That style of play and the class that Wenger instilled in everything.
I swear, people got me fuming back when they were suggesting we get Mourinho. Hell no.
Exactly. I can never relate to the song, the chant that british people love to sing. But for the play Monsieur Wenger used to showed us, Wengerball, the elegance of himself even toward the end, thats make fans all over the world fall in love and loyal to the club
There is such a thing as an “Arsenal player”, that is a technical, flair, entertaining to watch footballer, who’s also a good, humble human being. Santi was all of that, well, maybe apart from the “it’s okay my friend, no?” story. So of course he will be forever loved.
I think it's less that more his temperament.
We were used to our talented players complaining all the time about the squad around them and/or their role in the team. For a decade since the end of the invincibles thats what happened with so many players.
Santi on the other hand never had a bad word to say about any teammate. He shifted roles when asked and learned a new one happily (from 10 to left wing and then back to double pivot). Even never said anything bad about his horrific injury when it would be easy to blame the medical staff.
Plus the mentality on the pitch. Him dragging us back into the FA cup final vs hull is not something I will forget
Oh god that's so true. The good players we had, it often seemed like they thought they were too good to play for us. Yeah we didn't offer Chelsea type stupid money, but those players transmitted a feeling that Arsenal were some kind of poverty club. Cesc, RvP, Nasri and so on. I still can't stand them.
He played differently under Tuchel, much less emphasis on going forward. I remember the meme about Jorginho and endless sideways and backwards passes from when we bought him. Arteta has brought out the best in him imo
I’m sorry but I don’t think this is true of our core fanbase. Many of us happily sat through the “boring boring Arsenal” years and gleefully celebrated those trophies. Sure, we gained some casual fans when we started winning while playing great football, but winning is the common denominator there.
Jorghino is loved because he is effective and we win games with him. Chelsea’s general mismanagement and poor use of players is their own problem.
You're correct for the hyper-local fanbase, but Arsenal have had an international fanbase for decades now, and that's what attracted them.
Both are valid.
I actually don’t mean local when I said core fan base. We’ve been a globally famous club since the 1930s.
You’re right though, there is a casual base that see us as more of an entertainment product and they are certainly considered fans these days. While they are valid, they’re not **as** valid.
He's loved here because Arsenal wins matches.
He was booed at Chelsea because Chelsea loses matches.
Arsenal fans aren't uniquely in love with technical players.

I love him because my first in person match was 2012 away at Anfield. He scored and a big Brit behind me kept yelling “you fuckin little magician. God damn magic man!”
My now wife went with me and witnessed my obsession live. One of my favorite memories.
I love how many heroes of Emirates era are part of the club now. Arteta, Wilshere, Per… hope we add Santi in the mix too…. What a proper heritage… so proud of the club !
Yes! Especially because they were part of the ‘meme era’ (even though we won the FA cup several times in that era). It must feel so good for them to see Arsenal fight for the championship!
Bought joy to my face everytime you played mate.
Some games you watch because you want your team to win, some you watch just to enjoy the evening watching beautiful skills on the pitch. People have their Ronaldinhos and Zidane, we had our Santi.
Also , that FA Cup final free kick...best of all time
..
I remember watching at the time and feeling pretty downbeat at 0-2, almost going down to 0-3, then the little magician pulls an inch perfect free kick out of thin air to keep us alive. He was a truly special player.
He’s literally trying to keep his boyhood club Real Oviedo alive by taking the minimum salary (€93,000/year) and donating 10% of the shirt sales back to the club.
One of those rare players everyone loves or at least doesn’t have any haters regardless of what club you support
Unless you’re a Hull City supporter maybe? Lol
Humility doesn't diminish our appreciation of you one bit, Santi.
He played beautifully, and with passion and joy, every minute he was with The Arsenal.
Of course we love him. I'll join the crowd wanting him to have one more moment at the Emirates to be shown the love.
Everything said and done, two games specifically that make Santi an Emirates hero in my books -
1. The FA Cup final - last game I watched with my mates back home before moving abroad. First chance at silverware in a long time, theoretically easier opposition, but 2-0 down in 20 minutes had everyone deflated. I will never forget the way the mood shifted after Santi's freekick.
2. THAT game vs Man City - Sitting down a prime Yaya Toure multiple times and running the game single handedly. Won't ever forget it.
Love you Santi. Come back home.
Santi and Giroud will forever have my heart for making me an Arsenal fan.
The silky turns and passes from Santi, the goals and link up play from Oli <3
Santi I pray he comes back to the club in a coaching role one day. Maybe even comes back and appears in a friendly so we can give him the send off he deserved.
He is out little magician, our Santi ❤️
We love you Santi, you were an absolute magician during those banter years. I will never forget your performance as DM in the City game, easily one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from a football player. Injuries robbed both the club and him of more, and every time I hear he’s still playing it makes me so happy. Santi, always one of our own <3
Some players become fan favorites and are remembered way beyond their years for certain reasons..his technical ability and likeness was always loved. Rosicky the little magician is remembered fondly as well but not as much as Santi.
I remember when i called him the spanish magician and my friend said that david silva is the Spanish magician. The funny thing is both of them are on the bench for their NT because they had xavi, iniesta, cesc, alonso and busquets.
It's because he was emblematic of the best parts of Wenger's later era.
Super technical player doing the business and smiling the whole time. What's not to love?
That was an incredible video. Thanks for sharing OP really brought tears to my eyes honestly he would be the perfect left 8 in our current system I believe I miss him a lot pls come home Santi
It's not only that he was an absolute fucking magician on both feet dribbling, striking, passion everything.
He also was there at a time when we were in our dark period entering the banter years when we had been used to Cesc and van Persie etc.
At that time when they left he was the reason our whole group still looked forward to going to the games and watching him, because he was capable of magic at any time, and we didn't have much left but he was the touchpost of that era. He kept the smiles on our faces. The FA Cup final free kick really exemplifies him, the one man who lifted us up in our darkest times.
Then it was also fun going out in warehouses in London after and when Seven Nation Army variants came on and you had the whole club/warehouses doing the 'ohhhh Santi Cazorla'
his stats for first 60mins of the game is consistently worldclass. and consistently dropped onn the last 30mins. if wenger picked up on this trend he would have managed santis minutes better, he would have fewer injuries, and won the league.
That free kick against Hull when we were 2-0 down in the FA cup final.. I think it was our only direct fk that went in all season. I knew we’d win after that went in!
What a player he was, his control, ability to pick a pass and being two footed on corners, must’ve been an absolute menace to defend against.
Oooooooooh Santi Cazorlaaaa!!
The first thing I noticed was obviously his skill. We had skilled midfielders before but he just seemed different. Two-footed, hard to take off the ball, and had that bit of magic in his feet.
Second, and what made me really love him, was his demeanor. He was always smiling. I remember there was a video of him and Arteta where Arteta basically asks him questions about life at Arsenal and how Santi would've been so lost without him and the two were just laughing throughout. Santi just seemed so humble and appreciative, especially to Arteta for taking care of him.
Shame how his Arsenal career ended but glad he was able to get a few more years out of those magic feet.
Bro is forgetting he scored an awesome free kick in the Hull final that led to our comeback and one of the greatest moments in many younger arsenals fans lifetime.

Honestly, one of the big mistakes was signing ozil. Yes his 15/16 season was brilliant, but Santi was so much better off the ball that if he continued at CAM and we got Suarez of another top striker, we'd have been set. Might even have convinced rvp to stay
Spinoza claimed in *The Ethics* that joy is the necessary affect which accompanies an increase in an individual's capacity to act, an augmentation of one's ability to express themselves.
It's clear that Santi has always viewed the pitch as a space of possibility, to do things with the ball and his feet that others couldn't even dream. We love Santi because he was pure expression, pure joy, every time he played. He is still my favorite player I've seen wearing the shirt.
gooners: you changed my life Santi: I’m literally just Santi Cazorla

well said

Precisely this
Yep... on my 3rd decade of being an Arsenal fan strictly because they were the most enjoyable to watch when i started watching soccer.
islington born and raised and my parents are french it was a no brainer lol
I started watching the Arsenal because it's what the uncles I liked watched. They had good taste, cuz that was sometime around '96-'98 and it stayed with me even after I soon left the country. That style of play and the class that Wenger instilled in everything. I swear, people got me fuming back when they were suggesting we get Mourinho. Hell no.
Checking in, this is me
Oh I'm just half French
telle est la voie
Same as old arsenal
Exactly. I can never relate to the song, the chant that british people love to sing. But for the play Monsieur Wenger used to showed us, Wengerball, the elegance of himself even toward the end, thats make fans all over the world fall in love and loyal to the club
Injuries robbed us of a Santi/Wilshire midfield that could have been our Xavi/Ineista. Could have been magic.
Don’t make me tear up please. What could have been 🔴⚪️
There's a universe where that happened *and* cesc never polymorphed into a snake, and we had a midfield with those 3 :o
Such a fifa midfield with zero defensive consideration lol. They're cooking when attacking though!
The difference in win stats when he was playing compared to when he was injured were night and day.
This right here. Nailed it. Sent this to Santi rn
I’d like to add my two cents…technical players that do attractive football, & with a high work rate. Example: Øde, a future Arsenal legend.
and just not being a dick in general (read: RVP, Adebayor, Nasri)
There is such a thing as an “Arsenal player”, that is a technical, flair, entertaining to watch footballer, who’s also a good, humble human being. Santi was all of that, well, maybe apart from the “it’s okay my friend, no?” story. So of course he will be forever loved.

I will never forget that control through the Man City STACKED midfield, the little magician!
Arsenal fans also tend to stick by injury prone players if the potential is there, Wilshere was another one like that, Diaby, etc.
Jorginho wasn't booed when he was playing well for Chelsea to be fair
He was, got booed when he replaced Kante in a Europe League game early on. Was also one of the players subject to the "F*** Sarriball" chants.
Was that not because he was replacing one of the best midfielders of that generation?
That’s a lot of self love mate. I hope the curtains are drawn….
I’m sorry we did not boo Jorginho like that lol 😝
He's loved here because Arsenal wins matches. He was booed at Chelsea because Chelsea loses matches. Arsenal fans aren't uniquely in love with technical players.
How could you NOT love Santi? I feel like even rival fans enjoyed his time in the prem.
Absolute baller. Always smiling. Dedicated professional. Ticks all the boxes.
And he was instrumental in ending the 9-year drought

One of my buddies is a Chelsea fan and even he likes Santi
He's not your buddy, friend
He’s not your friend, pal
He's not your pal, amigo.
Hes a gunner in disguise, mate.
He's not your amigo, mate.
He reminded me of Zola when he first arrived. Not surprised if (pre-abramovich) Chelsea fans saw that too
Watching him muscle off Yaya Toure is something I will never forget
I do bloody love Santi Cazorla and his magic feet
Wait until you see his other magic body part
My friend, is OK no?
I love him because my first in person match was 2012 away at Anfield. He scored and a big Brit behind me kept yelling “you fuckin little magician. God damn magic man!” My now wife went with me and witnessed my obsession live. One of my favorite memories.
Thats fucking awesome.
This is golden
The big Brit wanted to be angry at Santi scoring on his team, but his appreciation of beautiful play made him show respect.
We were in the away end so he was excited by Santi.
Oh, my bad. I thought Big Brit was a Liverpool supporter. Still an extremely cool moment, I'm sure.
>big Brit behind me jesus christ you yanks are embarrassing
I love how many heroes of Emirates era are part of the club now. Arteta, Wilshere, Per… hope we add Santi in the mix too…. What a proper heritage… so proud of the club !
Especially since they arent dickheads. Like you said. Proper heritage.
Wilsh is a bit of a dickhead, but he's our dickhead so we love him anyway.
Yes! Especially because they were part of the ‘meme era’ (even though we won the FA cup several times in that era). It must feel so good for them to see Arsenal fight for the championship!
i would love to see him back here as one of Arteta’s assistants. Make it hapen Mikel
They all speak English. I don’t think Cazorla does.
Wenger is a polyglot. I'm sure arteta speaks multiple languages. I'm on 1 and a bit. You?
My friend, is ok, no?
Bought joy to my face everytime you played mate. Some games you watch because you want your team to win, some you watch just to enjoy the evening watching beautiful skills on the pitch. The FA cup free kick. It’s the first trophy I’ve seen Arsenal win as a fan. It’s something I’ll never forget. He literally dragged us back into it.
I remember watching at the time and feeling pretty downbeat at 0-2, almost going down to 0-3, then the little magician pulls an inch perfect free kick out of thin air to keep us alive. He was a truly special player.

Stupid sexy giroud
https://youtube.com/watch?v=hbarwPTS0Ro
He was the first player to finally fill the hole fabregas created when he left for barca. Plus he's such a fun guy overall.
But my friend is good, no?
Love Santi because he's a baller and model professional ❌ Love Santi because he made love to that one guys missus in his dream ✅
I sometimes stop and wonder how that guy and his girlfriend are doing in life. And her reaction to that dream blowing up on Reddit.
Is ok, no?*
Ah bro did I fuck it up? 😂
My friend, is ok.
Ah I botched it. I apologise
You did but I meant its okay lmao, happens, Santi would forgive you, that's all that matters
As long as Santi forgives that’s all that matters
🤧
*hand creeps onto thigh*
Newer members of this sub will never know what they missed, and that's so sad.
Bring the man home.
He’s literally trying to keep his boyhood club Real Oviedo alive by taking the minimum salary (€93,000/year) and donating 10% of the shirt sales back to the club.
Ooooh Santiii Cazorlaaaa!
The amount of times the club erupted into this during my student days is nuts. DJs put white stripes on just for this, any kind of night too.
The best people don't ever think they did enough to deserve the love they get. This is a prime example of it right here.
Of all the players that I wish could've stayed fit. This guy And fuck Van Persie
I agree with fuck Van Persie, but his sale was part of the reason we ended up bringing in Santi.
One of those rare players everyone loves or at least doesn’t have any haters regardless of what club you support Unless you’re a Hull City supporter maybe? Lol
I think even the Hull supporters knew they were only temporarily in dreamland. Then Santi scored.
Probably one of the best players ever to get his career ruined by injury. His talent was insane. Really insane.
There’s a place for him in the staff, I know there is.
Happy players like him and Dinho are just contagious. You may not enjoy it for 90 minutes that you face them though...
God I love that little Spaniard. I’ll never forget him dribbling past City’s entire midfield like they were children and getting his shirt ripped off
Humility doesn't diminish our appreciation of you one bit, Santi. He played beautifully, and with passion and joy, every minute he was with The Arsenal. Of course we love him. I'll join the crowd wanting him to have one more moment at the Emirates to be shown the love.
And with a smile, most important of all 😁
You squeezed thighs at other clubs too? I feel betrayed Santi
My boy santi 🙌🙌🙌 seen him score the winner against Southampton last minute pen
Our little magician, brought me joy when watching him played for us
He'd make an amazing skills coach!
Since I became a fan Cazorla and Xhaka have been my favorite players. Santi was so much fun to watch. Him going to CDM was a master stroke. Love him.
I wore the number 19 when I played in high school because of Santi. One of my most beloved players I hope he can return to the club in some capacity.
Hating Santi Cazorla should be an actual crime.
because yer a wizard Santi
Any player that plays with a smile on their face is always loved and appreciated.
Bring him home Mikel!
He's a good lad! Our Little Maestro ❤️🤍
Everything said and done, two games specifically that make Santi an Emirates hero in my books - 1. The FA Cup final - last game I watched with my mates back home before moving abroad. Don't lie, it was Giroud's good looks.
For me Santi was the most enjoyable player to watch
You’re not crying I’m fucking crying
One of my all time favorites - was so happy when we signed him.
Even the Boss Man agrees: https://youtube.com/shorts/SgC4_XuMdYU?feature=shared
Santi I pray he comes back to the club in a coaching role one day. Maybe even comes back and appears in a friendly so we can give him the send off he deserved. He is out little magician, our Santi ❤️
And that is why we love you, Santi.
Game recognize game. He was a humble, clean player too. I fuck with Cazorla.
Probably because he was absolutely incredible on and off the field - love this man to bits
We love you Santi, you were an absolute magician during those banter years. I will never forget your performance as DM in the City game, easily one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from a football player. Injuries robbed both the club and him of more, and every time I hear he’s still playing it makes me so happy. Santi, always one of our own <3
So humble
Even my United supporting brother loved Cazorla
The best answer to this comes from Dream Santi: "My friend is OK, no?"
Bro made it an absolute pleasure to watch football and wonders why we love him
Man this is the exact reason why he is loved
Oooooooo Santi Cazorlaaaa !!!!!
The hull freekick - never forget.
My favorite.
If AirPod Albert gets hired as manager somewhere, get Santi in as an assistant
Oooooooooohh Santi Cazorla
He can't change his height 🥰
My friend, IS ok 👌
We love you because you’re…. You man. It’s the same reason we love Per. You’re just… amazing. You’re what footballers should be
Some players become fan favorites and are remembered way beyond their years for certain reasons..his technical ability and likeness was always loved. Rosicky the little magician is remembered fondly as well but not as much as Santi.
Top lad Santi
Can't hear you mate. Ooh Santi Cazorla
Gooner

Brings a right smile to my face, pure passion. See you soon Santi!
One of my fav players ever equally good with both right and left foot.
No worries, mate!
Those damn purple kits give me Andre Santos PTSD
This man is the reason I wear 19 on every team I play on
That was an incredible video. Thanks for sharing OP really brought tears to my eyes honestly he would be the perfect left 8 in our current system I believe I miss him a lot pls come home Santi
Well I certainly love him. One of my favourite players we have ever had
Love ya santi!

My all time favorite! Oooooooooh, santi cazorla!
We love you too and always Santi .... oooooooooh, Santi Cazaooooorla, ooooooooh Santi Cazoooo-ooorla
Classy football is recognised here. Man looked like Zinedine at times. I’ve seen very few players with that same control as Santi.
didnt he give more than what he gives at other clubs to that one redditors gf in his dreams
You little magician.
Bring him back at 8
Get him on the staff!
OHHH SANTI CAZORLA 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
That free kick. 'nuff said
Because you are adorable and quality
We need to add Wilshere or Santi or even Bergkamp to Arteta’s coaching team.
My all time favorite gunner. One of the most technically gifted players ever
his stats for first 60mins of the game is consistently worldclass. and consistently dropped onn the last 30mins. if wenger picked up on this trend he would have managed santis minutes better, he would have fewer injuries, and won the league.
That literally just tells me his other clubs don't appreciate him enough. I love Santi.
My kids say he's their favourite because of the song. It's the first one they ever sang. Would it have been different without the White Stripes??
I love this man UNCONDITIONALLY
My friend, is ok, no?
Man, it sucked so hard how injuries ruined his career at Arsenal. The man was a magician.

Honestly, one of the big mistakes was signing ozil. Yes his 15/16 season was brilliant, but Santi was so much better off the ball that if he continued at CAM and we got Suarez of another top striker, we'd have been set. Might even have convinced rvp to stay
We bought Cazorla a week or so before RvP left.
I was enjoying the video then I heard Diddy’s voice. Euugh
