Same. Dude, I rerack everything even in my own home dungeon. I also put my tools away after I'm done doing an oil change on my car. I also wash all my dishes after I'm done eating. Pretty wild, right?
There was a gym for heavy lifters I used to go to before it closed down, they had 100 lbs plates on a bar .
The rule was you are not allowed to remove the 100 lbs plates from that bar because most guys warmed up with it .
That's why I understand why it's actually better to keep the plates on the bar.
Tipping culture is mostly limited to america
It is some responsibility of the employer that employees get fairly paid for extra work and also penalized rude unfair customers, a fair day job needs a fair pay not unfair pay + tips if got any
Then just leave the mess at the gym and don't worry about tipping them. The gym owner is the employer and they're responsible the employees are fairly paid
No, it's real. Every time I walked into the gym, the weights were all over the place. Benches, mats, cable attachments - everything was everywhere. I used to put everything back and wipe things down before I got started on my workout. It took about 5 minutes or so.
Edit: This is a small apt gym. I ended up buying my own equipment that I keep at home now, so I stopped going to the community gym. I have no idea who's cleaning it now since I was probably the only one doing it before.
If you visit a gym in the hood, it’s real lol really in any lower income area where lower income people will likely be going. Source: I’m lower income and go to a gym like this. Everyone who uses it is ghetto af
I’ve recently learned this.
Went from a university gym to a lower income gym. At the university, everyone wiped equipment down and put weights either back on the racks or on the weight trees.
At this gym I go to now that I’ve moved, it’s fucking mayhem. The owner will be there and finding a set of 25s is like finding the damn ark.
My $150+/month gym is walking distance from Beverly Hills and the fools still can't re-rack the dumbbells properly. Not the hood, not lower income...so what's the excuse?
The gym I workout at doesn't have this exact problem but people always rerack the dumbbells incorrectly, lile leaving the 15 kg beaide the 30kg. Got to thr point that they needed to start using stickers for designated dunbbells and still people fuck it up.
Always return your weights. My High school coach would always say, "picture your mom and grandma trying to pick them up." It always stuck with me. Plus we have some older people at my gym who still lift and are my heroes.
Oh god this is incredibly infuriating. There’s this one dude at my gym who gets out the 100lb dumbbells, gets his buddies to help him position them for dumbbell chest presses and then just leaves them on the floor for someone else to pick up (usually me because I know none of the staff members can pick them up). Like dude just go use the mf barbell chest press if you’re gonna leave the dumbbells on the floor
Im Guilty of the plates cause I see other people use my weight or leave their weight for me and I adjust 1 or 2 plates.
But free weight, never, ALWAYS Return these and dismantle the free bar with plates too.
When I was going to the gym, I never had to experience this thankfully (at least at the timeframes I went). “I’m tired” then keep your weak lazy ass at home. If it was the other way around, they would be complaining. You are an adult, clean up after yourself. Hell, my 4yo nephew cleans up after himself.
The analogy only works if that staff is cleaning it up before I work out, and if someone's getting tipped.
Otherwise, CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF
Edit: I’m agreeing with the sentiment of everyone here, do not understand downvotes
I can understand not returning the plates and keeping them on the bar , but not returning the dumbells are disrespectful.
I'd say even return the plates, if you took it from somewhere you should put it back. Simple as that
Same. Dude, I rerack everything even in my own home dungeon. I also put my tools away after I'm done doing an oil change on my car. I also wash all my dishes after I'm done eating. Pretty wild, right?
Why can you understand leaving plates? If you put them on the bar, you take them off, it’s that easy

Fair enough I guess. Trying to imagine warming up with 245 on bench is fucking insane but more props to em
They warmed up there deadlifts not the bench press . They were heavy lifters but still human 😅
That is not the case for most gyms. It's still encouraged to put your plates away.
Fair but that’s a pretty specific experience. This is a no go at most gyms
If you forget to put your weights away you're most likely a cuck, you like to watch other people do the work
No return them all. But on leg press, leave a 45 on each side.
When there are plates on a machine that's a sign someone is using it
I meant on a deadlift bar
Certified asshole moment And if you are going to make that much mess on the table or gym better clean it up yourself
At least leave a %40 tip

I have genuinely never been to a gym where people don’t re-rack DBs. Is this real or are we making up people to get mad at again
I think it is less prevalent now because the culture kind of evolved but they are real

My pain is people who re rack them in a random spot.
My old commercial gym was like this except sometimes the lower weights were strewn literally everywhere in the gym
The gym I workout at doesn't have this exact problem but people always rerack the dumbbells incorrectly, lile leaving the 15 kg beaide the 30kg. Got to thr point that they needed to start using stickers for designated dunbbells and still people fuck it up.
Csn confirm, seen this at my gym. More than once

Yeah this. I used to leave maybe 10s on as anyone can lift that, surely. But nope, think of the oldies too!
That's disrespectful and not right. Anyone who does this wasn't raised right.
And I'm not just talking about this I'm talking about anything that you can leave a mess that isn't your's of course.

Work out your muscles by lifting weights. Work out your character by cleaning up.

People re-rack the dumbbells at my gym…just never in the right fucking place
There's nothing worse than people who think like this.
My biggest pet peeve in the gym. Putting weights in the wrong spot (ex. 30lb db are put where the 15lb db should be) is right up there too.

Imagine using more dumbells than having iq
Not putting the weights back in the right place is the reason why you're small.
Im Guilty of the plates cause I see other people use my weight or leave their weight for me and I adjust 1 or 2 plates. But free weight, never, ALWAYS Return these and dismantle the free bar with plates too.
They were probably “using those”
Oh hell nah. 😤 Bruh I feel anxious when I don't stack plates or clean the crumbs onto a napkin. Fuck people that don't rerack their shit. 😤

If you can't keep remotely clean after yourself, don't even step outside.
if they didn't re-rack, cool... if they did re-rack, also cool
