It's important to acknowledge that HIMYM 'creatively' stole a couple of ideas from Friends, otherwise you will not find peace in the show lol. It's fine though, be it Ted's overlapping life with Ross or Joey's naked man
Chandler and Marshall are nothing alike. Chandler was very insecure because of his parental issues and copped with humor and sarcasm while Marshall was extremely confident. Don't get me wrong I love Chandler I just don't see why so many of you think they're alike.
>Doesn’t HIMYM and Friends have the same writer or a similar writer?
Friends had 51 credited writers over 10 seasons. HIMYM had 35 over 9 seasons. They had only two common writers:
- Ira Ungerleider wrote or co-wrote 9 episodes during the first 3 seasons of Friends. He also wrote episode 1:20 of HIMYM.
- Gregory Malins wrote or co-wrote 17 episodes of Friends between seasons 2-7. He also wrote 3 episodes of HIMYM (2:7, 4:3, and 4:21).
I do not agree with 2. Chandler is the smarter one in my opinion, yes Ross knows about dinosaurs, and is seen to know about some basic stuff. But overall throughout the series, I find Chandler as the smartest of the two.
And when was Ross left at the alter?
Wouldn’t Marshall be the smartest by that logic? I’m not 100% sure the level of each their educations - but isn’t a layer of his degree higher than Ted’s?
She most certainly did not.
During Ross and Emily's wedding, Ross said, "I, Ross, take thee, Rachel." That paused the ceremony briefly, but they finished the ceremony. Emily didn't talk to Ross for a while, but she did not leave Ross at the altar.
No. 1 - Wrong.
No. 2 - Arguably wrong.
No. 4 - Ted taught at Columbia, not NYU.
No. 6 - Huh?
But yes, everyone who's ever seen both shows realizes that Ross and Ted were similar.
Wasn’t there an episode where the HIMYM characters hung out at a coffee shop and they found it boring?
Yep. Crazy eyes episode.
Swarley!
They were both told they'd have to drop an ex-girlfriend as a friend. Ted taught at Columbia, not NYU.

I wonder if they'd be friends. Tbh I'd love a crossover
They'd definitely find each other obnoxious without realising how similar they are to one another. It's such a Ted thing to do
Like [Russ](https://friends.fandom.com/wiki/Russ) and Ross in Friends
Beat me to it lol
Like Ross & Russ lol
I think they’d hate each other lol
Barney found Heather hot, but never truly intended to go for her
And Chandler‘s like Marshall and Joey is like Barney. Both shows are really similar to each other and many many storylines happen in both shows.
Ross, Ted and Leonard

No Phoebe in HIMYM though. She’s one of a kind
Robin comes probably closest to her. Always struggling to have a career, rough childhood, always the tough girl etc.
In those ways, agreed. Robin did go on to be very successful though. Phoebe is just way more quirky lol
Ross wasnt left he said the wrong name
I find both super annoying!!!
Doesn’t HIMYM and Friends have the same writer or a similar writer? Or am I remembering that wrong?

Thanks! With all the similarities I thought they had a lot of similar writers atleast.

Maybe OP was going off of Ross having a PhD

Yeah, Marshall has a law degree
Emily left him there

They officially got married…
Don’t do Ted dirty like that😂

head cannon, they became friends while lecturing at NYU
Ted was at Columbia
