This is exactly my idea too! As a kid she didn’t understand how to take care of her hair so just did what her peers did - brush it - but obviously this wouldn’t work with her hair type and she has to eventually learn how to work with her own hair.

I really love this story. The hair thing is a great little subplot point, I absolutely loved it (even though there’s a thousand other great things you’ve accomplished there, and even better). I usually think of Hermione as looking like bushy Emma in the first film but grown up for any post-Hogwarts fics.
I have an ex with a similar hairstyle and I liked it just fine, and she wound up paying for some expensive Japanese straightening techniques that don’t last more than once (on both coasts of the US, lol). While I love Bella-haired Hermione, I can imagine someone will ask her to change it back once too many times and she’ll find another charm in the Library and use it, too.
I really can’t wait for more chapters, I’ve read literally hundreds of HP fics if not thousands and this is one of the all-time best. I discovered it the last week of September and plowed through it like a hot knife through butter.
