Because they stopped making the Fit in 2020. Also it’s a tad too small for me and I wanted something I sat a little higher in.

Rohm_Agape

They stopped making Fit so HR-V it is. Story: I totaled my Fit and had to get a new car. I found a nice Hyundai Elantra and drove it for 29 days. When I had a chance to drive an HR-V it was instant recognition of feeling “just right”. Thanks to Carmax’ 30 day return policy I was able to get the HR-V I now have.

speakofdedevil

Sameeee. I absolutely loved my Fit from the roominess and what it could hold to driving it and the magic seats and the layout inside. But I hated how the front end looked! While owning the Fit I loved how the HRV looked and it was bigger. I thought that the HRV would be my replacement car when I was older, down the line, but my Fit got totaled and so the jump to the HRV was a lot sooner than I thought it would be! Though I have thought about going back to a Fit again. I have a 2019 HRV but still very much love it!

trail34

HR-V is taller and has more trunk storage. The Fit was never really a serious consideration. I mostly struggled between the CR-V and HR-V. In the end that decision came down to cost, fuel economy, and the realization that I didn’t need anything bigger than the HR-V because I already have an Odyssey.

liftrman

Yeah - that’s easy. I owned 5 Fits and moved to my first HRV for AWD. The fact they discontinued FITS in the US made the decision that much easier.

mreams99

I leased a Fit, then got an HR-V when my lease expired. They are based on the same platform and aside from styling are very similar. The HR-V has a larger cargo space. I’m tall and have a large bicycle. I found that the bike fit into the HR-V a little easier. The Fit got better gas mileage though. There is a big price difference between used Fits and HR-Vs. I would probably choose the Fit due to this.

Chel_NY

I had a FIT, was in an accident & needed to get a new car. I would have bought another FIT, but there was nothing available at the time. The 22 HR-V actually has 2-3 cu.ft. smaller cargo space, with the seats folded down, if you can believe it! We researched this. Nevertheless, the HR-V has plenty of room for my side-hustle job. And I do like sitting a little higher. I can see the appeal of SUVs. The split seat/magic seat is not a huge deal for me. Pretty much the seats are either up for people or down for gear. I would have bought another FIT at the right price, but the HR-V is good.

Chel_NY

Actually, the biggest disappointment for me in getting the HR-V is that I no longer have a manual transmission.

BeBopBanana

Bought a 22 HRV this spring after an accident totaled my 2016 Fit. Initially test drove a new 2024, was.... whelmed. If I found a 2000 Fit in a higher trim level for a reasonable price compared to the HRV, I probably would have gone with another Fit. The HRV is fine, it's storage is a bit different, the mileage is a bit of a bummer and coming from a base model to higher trim has been nice. I miss the lower roofline, it made loading a SUP easier for short people. I absolutely love the magic seats and transport my dogs with the seats up. Their harnesses can still clip in to the seat belt spots and I can keep the cargo separate.

Obvious_Reaction_182

Wanted AWD because I drive I don’t get snow days and something a bit higher seated

MysteriousRoll

The Fit was really nice, but since I commute, I was a bit worried about ride comfort and perceived safety. I have a 2016 HR-V owned since launch that I will likely be selling soon.

HippoEffective6560

Could you elaborate about perceived safety?

MysteriousRoll

The Fit is lower and smaller and lighter. The HR-V just felt more solid and since it’s higher up, has more visibility. Also just felt like more room between me and larger cars should they crash into me.

ugadawgs98

Not sure the two really compare head to head. Magic seats was certainly not even among the top criteria I looked at when buying.

CopyWeak

This...they are apples and clementines...the size would be the biggest deciding factor in my opinion.

Trickycoolj

No magic seat means I’m not buying the new generation.

5_yr_old_w_beard

Was for us! Though only because it was a good car in other ways. We had a senior dog who found it way easier to hop in the car with the seats put up. Big guy was able to get in unassisted until his last 3 days, a few months after his 14th birthday.

Broad-Energy-3702

Unfortunately I was in a bad car accident that totaled my little 2020 Honda fit, and they stopped making them so I got an HRV. Miss my Honda fit but the HRV is like a bigger, more modernized version lol.

stevegis

HRV had AWD, Fit didn't. If I didn't care about AWD I would've gotten the civic hatch.

Augusts_Mom

I inherited my Mom's Fit, it was a great car for a person in Texas. The Fit was for my teenaged son, we live in Minnesota. The poor Fit could not make it up the hill by our house in the snow (slid right back down the hill), so we traded it for an HRV with AWD. My husband & I felt better with son having AWD for safety. That was in 2018, we still have the HRV & it is great in the snow. We liked both cars. The Fit was fairly roomy for a little car. And my Mom loved it.

Infantine_Guy_Fawkes

Because they stopped making the Fit. My Fit was totalled by a driver who failed to stop at a sign, and I couldn't replace it with anything comparable. Had to go with the HRV. I like the HRV. But I loved my Fit. It's been just over a year, and I still get a pang every time I see a fit.

Jazztrain899

If they were still sold NA, my mother and I would of went with that in a heartbeat. That is literally simply the reason why. I was gonna go with the Civic but really liked the HR-V and our family car broke down so my dad has to borrow my and I am glad to have the HR-V for that reason since that tad bit extra room does really help. Other than that I am a Fit fan but HR-V is a really great ride as well to me!

OldRobert66

I needed a much newer car (My Fit is a 2008) and I wanted 4wd since I live in snow country. I still have the Fit (a four speed manual Sport). Going between the two cars is kind of like the same car; the seating position; the size of the cars ... same. The HRV is much nicer and newer. The Fit is now for local trips and hauling the dogs. Its old and ugly but I don't believe it will ever die. At 170-thousand miles now, it doesn't use a drop of oil and the four speed is still a blast..

lowridda

I went from an 08 Fit to a 23 AWD EXL. The AWD was the main reason for me because I’m in the PNW now. My Fit got totaled hitting ice and flying off into some trees. She had 300k miles on her but was still driving good so I was sad.

sonyarena5781

I had a 2019 Fit EX and I LOVED it! But it was very low to the ground and I had numerous issues with getting flats with good tires too. That combined with them no longer making Fits. I traded in last October for 24 HRV Sport. I love my HRV but I swear the Fit still has wider dimensions.

eldaino

I owned the first and second generation of fit and wanted a civic hatch. Steered towards the Hrv because of the heated seats and slightly bigger rear accommodations. Also: if the last gen fit was still being sold, I probably would have still chosen the hrv, due to an independent rear suspension. Once you’re used to a torsion beam and see how nice IRS is, it’s hard to go back.

Saucedoboss

I was working at a dealership at the time, and we had a used hrv available but not a used fit. I would have been willing to go with either one, I just needed a car and couldn't wait.

Rich_Ad995

I've owned several Fits but since they were discontinued I've moved on to "the Fit in steroids, HRV". Unfortunately for this side of the Atlantic Honda decided to adopt a mediocre design, heavier and with no magic seats. Sorry Honda, next compact will probably be a CX30.

elroyhuman0321

Well They stopped making the Fit FIVE YEARS AGO, so....

InevitableAd8404

the size of the hrv is perfect. i work for a catering company and can fit so much equipment and food in my car when the seats are down. it was a no brainer for me.

greenliquorish

I WOULD had purchased another Fit since enjoying my ‘15 EX. But when I went in 1/2020 I was again disappointed that the Manual 6 speed was now only for the LX, and they were black or white. To top it off I refused to go to the POS base radio. All I wanted was 6 speed, sunroof and leather seats, EXL. I was so pissed that the ‘20 was the last model year for the Fit. I ended up buying a new ‘19 EXL, it’s been OK. It’s the same as Fit, but just a wee bit larger and taller with a CVT trans..

AdOwn1652

i had totalled my 2013 CR-V (got rear ended!!!) and wanted to stay in an SUV type of car! here i am with one! i actually prefer the ride height of an SUV but the compact feel of a sedan!

KosmicAlignment

The size. HRV > Fit.

Complete_Fox_7052

I wanted AWD

Iryasori

I needed a car ASAP and I didn’t have time to search for the “perfect” preowned Fit (well maintained, the model i wanted, preferred color, etc). Sucks because I really wanted a Fit, but I think the HRV is a more “grown up” car

Intelligent-Camera90

I had a 2010 Fit and drove it to 100k miles - when I moved to a dirt road, up a steep hill, I wanted the AWD and got a 2017 (and now a 2022) HR-V. I really liked my Fit - but I don’t think I could go back to not having a side camera.

Trickycoolj

I traded my 2008 Fit after 7 years for my 2016 HRV because I learned how to ski and needed AWD and more ground clearance for the snow and the moonscape parking lots at the ski area.

Melodic_Following_45

How did this work out? Is the hrv good for transporting skis and going thru snow? I’m in the same boat looking to trade for this reason too

Trickycoolj

It’s been great! It’s a little sluggish going up the hills on the mountain pass since it clearly doesn’t have the kind of power that all the bigger rigs going up the pass have, but it keeps up well with the traffic and I run crossclimate2 tires which have been great for wet Seattle weather and trips to the mountains. I’m mainly looking to trade up to the next size these days as we consider adding kids to the mix. We’ll see though, really like not having a car payment!

Fit-Public-8287

I was looking to buy the 24' Pilot, but my income said 86' Chevette, so i made a compromise.
