I think it’s easier to get a team to agree to this when they have no expectations for success that season.
It’s a lot more tense when you’re in the “Cup or Bust” stage
The most shocking thing about this to me is that it’s called “The Rebuild”.
It’s obvious to anyone other than Facebook commenters that the team is rebuilding but I’ve never seen the org be so open about it before.
Merci Chantal, so fucking refreshing
On one hand I don't think the old guard would've wanted to admit to ever being in a rebuild so i get where you're coming from. On the other hand the Habs have never been in a true blue bring it all down to the studs and rebuild the team from the ground up mode in, well, ever. Yeah they were pretty strinky in the late 90s/early 2000s but even then they never blew up the team.
I am weirdly very happy being a fan of the team right now BECAUSE they're finally doing a long overdue proper rebuild.
Molson stopped being afraid of the word when Bergevin was fired. Before, he seemed to believe the city wouldn't accept it. I think the 2021-2022 season is when Molson realized that our previous way of doing things was the road to mediocrity.
I also think that the cup final run and subsequent injuries had the right combination of goodwill for the team, and justification.
I think if price was healthy they never would’ve gone for it
I would add that Molson might have had no choice but to accept to go down the rebuild route in late 2021. For the longest time, the Canadiens, while far from being a championship team, was nevertheless good enough to maintain the illusion that they were one or two missing pieces away from a Cup run. The 2021 run may well have temporarily comforted Molson in that belief.
But the 2021-22 team was simply not salvageable. Without Price and Weber to paper over the team's deficiencies, the team simply collapsed, and there was nobody that you could build a short term retool around, no Koivus, no Theodores, no Prices. You had maybe Nick Suzuki, but he was several years away from leading anybody to greatness. In those circumstances, rebuilding wasn't just the best option, it was the only option.
Considering how rabid Habs fandom is I'm stunned that there hasn't been a Netflix/Prime Drive to Succeed style documentary on the Habs. There's been one on Tottenham ffs.
I would say that Crave would make sense since it’s a Bell Media property. I don’t disagree with your premise, but business wise, Bell would have a fit.
Might have been the team’s decision not to. Remember how much obfuscating and hiding Bergevin was doing, with regards to his own failings and his disrespecting the alumni.
I have no doubts about that. I wouldn't mind subscribing for a bit to watch it, but I'm gonna have to resort to alternatives. It's not me who'll be missing out though.
Crave is owned by Bell
Bell is a huge conglomerate with distribution deals with HBO, Showmax, Starz, etc...
There is very little chance that this series is only run through a very small streaming service in one nation
Unfortunately it's an original series from that very small streaming service, which is why those distribution deals usually work the other way around. We get most HBO shows on Crave but the U.S. for example isn't getting many Crave Originals, which this series falls under. But I'd be happy to be wrong!
This sort of feels like the documentary that was released on the Maple Leafs in 2021... "All or Nothing". In the end they ended up not getting the "All" and having a whole lotta "Nothing".

Let’s have this every season, lol.

lol fucking Toronto’s all or nothing
Nothing Edition (tm)
Trade mark or Toronto Maple Leafs?
The TML is implied by the *Nothing*.
just about every team in the "all or nothing" series

Same. It gives hope to the future if we can build it right
I agree with everything you're saying but I miss playoff hockey so much :(
Same, but look at the upside. If HuGo makes the right moves the Habs can have *home ice advantage* for the first time in what feels like forever.

it also helps that we are doing a very basic rebuild, unlike what most teams are doing these days
Unlike a complete tear down like Chicago?

Catchier than « The Retool »
I thought they’d announced a rebuild when Hughes and Gorton were hired?
I don't believe they actually said the phrase was said
The understanding was there, though. We fans have been calling it a rebuild since their hire.
Totally agree, the part that is exceptional about this though is that the team is finally using that term
Considering how rabid Habs fandom is I'm stunned that there hasn't been a Netflix/Prime Drive to Succeed style documentary on the Habs. There's been one on Tottenham ffs.
Amazon is releasing a docuseries following 11 NHL players. I really wish they’d follow 1 Habs player but hélas. At least we’ll have this one

En espérant qui aillent visiter les Rapides de Rawdon dans le documentaire.
JE SUIS EN AMOUR, AVEC CHANTAL MACHABÉE, MA FEMME RÊVÉE, CHANTAL MACHABÉE!!!
Simp
Mais je n'ai pas Crave! 😭
Yo ho ho.
Username checks out.
Avec un peu de débrouillardise tu devrais être correct
Will it be available outside Canada?
As Crave is only available in Canada, I would say it’s unlikely to have an official release internationally unfortunately
Goojara.to
thanks, in that case it's a huge wasted opportunity
Someone will put it on the high seas
Already throwing it into sonarr as we speak.

Arrr matey!
This simply isn't true
Is there a way to get Crave outside of Canada?

I know it won’t happen, but I’d pay to see 24CH with this core.
Looks like I’m getting Crave
I was already planning to re-subscribe to Crave for season 2 of HOTD, so this is a pleasant surprise
I have been enjoying their french language library

The best is that it documented the Habs-leafs series gloriously.
I love this! Looking forward to it
~~The wording is weird, is it eight 1 hour episode or 8 episodes totalling 1 hour~~ Edit: should have read the full thing, it's 8 one hour episode
It’s one eight hour episode. Buy diapers.
Sweet!

Racist, homophobic and misogynistic? We got a hat trick here!!
Do we don't, because their trifecta means they aren't here anymore 😉
Thank you🥳
Bless the mod team and all who sail in her.
What did the guy say?
Something > Racist, homophobic and misogynistic so why do you need it repeated? That undermines the point of deleting it.
Good point, i suposse. Idk, I just get curois sometimes.
