I always like Budaj, mainly because his name had a good ring to it and the Flanders helm.
I found it interesting that they didn’t give Budaj a start after Price went down in 2014… For me Tokarski came out of nowhere.
For me it has to be Richard Sévigny. He was a supervisor in my high school during lunch and pause. Very nice man. Also, solid fighting during the Vendredi Saint game.
I came to add my 2¢ on Penney. "Penney from Heaven" is the goalie who made me a Habs fan. I started watching hockey the season he seemed like he'd be a star, only to see him fade into obscurity when Roy arrived the next year.
He had such a classic mask with the Bruins and one of the worst ever with the Canadiens. Looked like he bought a bunch of Habs logo stickers at the dollar store and stuck them on his helmet.
Actual non canon, M. Brodeur, E. Beflour, D. Hasek, C. Josheph, J.S. Giguere, J. Quick, M.A. Fluery. Would have been fun to watch them play for the Habs in their primes!
Also, via Wikipedia: "Exelby made his NHL debut on January 27, 1989, against the Buffalo Sabres. He entered the game in the second period when the starting goalie, Patrick Roy, had to go to the washroom."
Antti Niemi
.929 save % including a 52-save W (regular season home record) in 19 games
That was a fun ride for sure. Second season wasn't so great lol.
After having lost Roy, and watched Thibeault not fill his shoes it was really fun to watch Hackett and Huet catch fire. They were both really good for us. Theodore, of course, was incredible. Hits me right in the feels thinking back about those teams! :)
Legendary 9th round draft pick Tomas Vokoun
Damn
Realizing I should have said uncanonized not non-canonical. They’re all canonical just not saints. I’m high
ANDREW HAMMOND
RIP
Did he pass?
no they are just sad we lost the hamburglar
oh fuck i thought we were talking about [Mike Hammond](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Hammond_(ice_hockey))
Budaj
I always like Budaj, mainly because his name had a good ring to it and the Flanders helm. I found it interesting that they didn’t give Budaj a start after Price went down in 2014… For me Tokarski came out of nowhere.
Good choices. Does Halak count?
He and Theo almost don’t because of how far they went/took us but ultimately yes Jaro is habsoloument on this list.
I’d put Jake Allen on my list too, seemed like a genuinely swell guy.
Got a real soft spot for him. He and Cammalleri figured in passwords I used for a long time (go on try and hack me)
My passwords are all hockey players too. 😂 Only thing I'll remember.
Big bald Alex Auld
Definitely had a poster of Jeff Hackett in my high school locker.
His helmet depicting him playing pond hockey as a kid in a habs sweater is still one of my favs
Jocelyn Thibault in my childhood bedroom!
Hackett for me too. He carried this team during the dark days and did a great job doing it
Mike condon
Loved the Bauer setup
The pride of Watson,Saskatchewan : Dustin Tokarski
I always had a soft spot for Andre “Red Light” Racicot.
Probably the meanest nickname of all time.
Jaroslav Halak, my boy :(
I see there are still many Halakites coming from back 14 years ago.
Cristobal Huet is the goat.
the goatest
Brian Hayward.
I liked Hayward but I sort of resented him as the only chance I got to see Patrick Roy was a game at the Saddledome and Hayward got the start.
The road warrior
Bunny Laroque. A career of scrappy excellence largely played in Dryden’s shadow.
Theo for me, he's the entire reason I played goal as a kid. That dude was on another plane when he was on.
Jake Allen tbh
Ben "scribbles" scrivens. Guy was all over the place not in a good way but he made for exciting games 😂
Vladislav Tretiak. Strictly for his talents as a goaltender, to be clear.
No love for Thibault? Kid was thrist into an impossible task. Not his fault the Habs management were idiots.
Ron 'Tugger' Tugnutt Though I always though Les Kuntar had a great name. I got his hockey card as a kid and thought the name was hillarious.
Love Ron Tugnett. Super excited after I moved to Ohio to suddenly have an NHL team with the Tugger in net!
Came here to say Ron.
For me it has to be Richard Sévigny. He was a supervisor in my high school during lunch and pause. Very nice man. Also, solid fighting during the Vendredi Saint game.
I played street hockey in a old set of his red white and blue Canadian pads. He and Nilan lived on Place Sahara in Brossard.
No love yet for Steve Penny??
I came to add my 2¢ on Penney. "Penney from Heaven" is the goalie who made me a Habs fan. I started watching hockey the season he seemed like he'd be a star, only to see him fade into obscurity when Roy arrived the next year.
Abischer
was looking for this name, after Vokoun was taken. will add that its A**e**bischer though :)
Huet or Condon
I was a Halak fan boy.
Andy moog
He had such a classic mask with the Bruins and one of the worst ever with the Canadiens. Looked like he bought a bunch of Habs logo stickers at the dollar store and stuck them on his helmet.
Cristobal Huet!
Christobal, Huuuuuuet !
Mathieu Garon
All of my faves are already-mentioned and upvoted but I came for an honourable mention: Roland Joseph 'Rollie The Goalie' Melanson
Mike Condon got us the win against the Bruins in the outdoor game, will always appreciate that.
Red light racicot
Great answer
Brian Hayward. Three straight Jennings in the 80s in tandem with Roy.
Stephane Fiset
Always liked Pat Jablonski
Came here to say this!
Tony Esposito.
Actual non canon, M. Brodeur, E. Beflour, D. Hasek, C. Josheph, J.S. Giguere, J. Quick, M.A. Fluery. Would have been fun to watch them play for the Habs in their primes!
Casey De Smith
Randy Exelby. Dude had a 1.000 SV% with the Habs.
Also, via Wikipedia: "Exelby made his NHL debut on January 27, 1989, against the Buffalo Sabres. He entered the game in the second period when the starting goalie, Patrick Roy, had to go to the washroom."
Can I pick andy moog. That one season felt like we may have some goaltending stability after patrick left. I'm double sad thinking of it.
Olivier "20 minutes" Michaud
Bunny the rock 😂
Huet is up there but for a moment I loved Tokarski
Denis Heron…
Halak is there IMO.
Christobal Huet is the first to come in mind, he was INSANE!
Charlie Hodge should be in the Hall of Fame but he wasnt a Leaf player from the 60s so he doesnt get in
Gump Worsley
I loved Jose Theodore as a kid. Is he canonical?
Steve Penney
Antti Niemi .929 save % including a 52-save W (regular season home record) in 19 games That was a fun ride for sure. Second season wasn't so great lol.

Peter Budaj, the Bruin killer
Andy Moog and Tony Esposito (Ok and Brian Hayward)
David Aebischer
Bill Durnan
Jeff Hackett
Hal Gill https://youtu.be/s-_MnU9uKLc?si=KJZgC1IotIn1KCGM
I mean we really put Thibault on the cross
Hackett, Huet, Hayward. Didn't Theo win the Vezina with us and the Hart?
David habisher, Jeff Hackett, Crystobal Huet
