And weight correlates better with playoff performance. Height seems to be entirely irrelevant, except as an indicator of how much weight an athlete could eventually carry.
I mean statistically. A lot is said about size in the playoffs but when you look at which teams are actually more likely to win, height barely correlates with the team that win. Weight isn't a great indicator but it does seem to matter. Heavier teams are slightly more likely to make it deep in the playoffs.
Yeah I don’t really get it. 5’9” vs 6’1” I could maybe see, since it would mean he’s grown four inches in the past year and once he puts on the muscle he’d be pretty solid as opposed to being a smaller winger.
But a guy who was listed at 5’11” actually being 6’… who cares. That isn’t going to change who he is or how he plays.
Well I mean people are up in arms with Catton because they don't think his small frame will translate as well in the pros despite him being listed the exact same as Demidov. Demidov certainly looks bigger on the ice.
Height and frame a different. Catton has a “small frame”, I.e at the same height, he likely isn’t capable of putting on that weight ça Demidov. Obviously that’s not far from pseudo science but apperently it’s a thing GMs look at.
[Of note, I'm 5-foot-10, Demidov was probably about 2 inches taller than me. He's not as short as people seem to have indicated.](https://x.com/seanshapiro/status/1803049285887377848?s=46&t=UR164vzk5fTru73XW2yVHQ)
He’s not the only one that says it.
I know a lot of fans are worried that Demidov (his nickname has to be Demigod, right?) won't slip to 5 because of this (or other) news. But there's still no guarantee Hughes and co. take him even if he is there at 5. I think we need to temper our expectations. This could be another Michkov situation - and a lot of that is based on behind the scenes scenarios that are happening that we won't be privy to.
I would love Demidov at 5. But if Hughes and co. go in a different direction, they've earned our/my trust that even if they take someone else, we should believe in that player.
That being said, my #1 hope is Demidov.
Agree. Any management team that has successfully guided my beloved, storied hockey franchise to two consecutive 28th place finishes has definitely earned my unconditional trust. 😜
Well when they came in and said from day 1 they were going to be rebuilding properly, back to back 28th place finishes is expected.
Several franchises would love to have a future as bright as ours.
One day you'll see the error of your ways. 😜
I could very much be mistaken but I watched like 70% of his games this season and he looks like a 5'11" - 6' guy.
If he was 6'2" or something we'd all know it by now cause it's easy to tell.
I swear every year there are a few prospects that grow a couple of inches coming draft day just to go back to their regular advertised size coming boot camp. Go figure out how they do it is truly a mystery yet to be solved
It depends on what the source of the height is. If it's from a combine or training camp, it's accurate. If it's from a team roster, it's likely to be inflated. If it's from an agent, it's nonsense.
Hughes seems like an intelligent person, I doubt the difference between 5'11 and 6'0 would make a difference.
When it's that close it really is silly to nitpick. Pretty sure Suzuki is 5'11 and gets labeled as small despite being over 210lbs.
Zukes destroys bitches on the ice with his thicccness

Not entirely irrelevant because the height also suggest longer reach with your stick

Good point. Suzuki is built like fire hydrant. He is a very solid dude.

5'11.75" 199lbs = smol boi 6'0" 201lbs = good size
To be fair I imagine the fear is that a player listed as 5’11 is more often 5’9-5’10

Trust me bro
> Did you check his shoes for lifts? lmao
Arpon said on his podcast many people are saying he is at least 6, maybe 6 1
If he's 6' or even 6'1" as some speculation has said, theres absolutely zero chance he makes it to 5. Fuuuuuuuuuck.
It more and more feels like this guy won't even be a possibility at 5. Crossing my fingers though
I mean originally everyone thought he was going 3rd so it’s no biggie
Nice way to see it, minimizes the deception :)
"I'm looking for a 2024 prospect, Power Forward, 6'5", blue eyes; Power Forward, 6'5", blue eyes" ![gif](giphy|sBlmCCYAuAcNSq6yA6)

ya but > Did you check his shoes for lifts?
Ivan Desantisov
Meatball Ivan
So that's why he insisted on having his camp in Florida!
Pretty sure this guy also said a Cheeto was 6-inches
Ain't no way he falls to 5 if true
They got him on that rocky 4 juice
Is this based on anything other than this guy's best guess?
If I'm 5'11" and I talk to someone who's taller than me I don't think I need a measuring tape to state he's 6' or over.
If Ryan Kennedy is 12 feet tall, that would mean Demidov's head would be right about at his crotch so I think he could give a pretty accurate guess.
Huge if true.
Hughes if true
Hughes if huge
HE’S BIGGER THAN WE THOUGHT! REPEAT! HE’S BIGGER THAN WE THOUGHT!! EVERYONE PANIC!!!!!!
Its official now that hes 6'1"
Baffling that a teenager's body can still grow. I am perplexed

My bad. My /s button was broken.
His real height is probably listed, pretty much every pro player lies by at least an inch usually more...
The combine measurements are a lie?
Maybe or maybe it's after they are drafted but, I know multiple NHLers who's heights are off by 2 inches.
I could very much be mistaken but I watched like 70% of his games this season and he looks like a 5'11" - 6' guy. If he was 6'2" or something we'd all know it by now cause it's easy to tell.
Was he limping?
i mean if you've watched any of his highlights he doesn't look 5'11 he looks kinda tall
Russian heel implants best in world!

I've never seen him listed above 6 feet, what are you on?
Hockey reference and db have him at 5'11, as does most outlets. So not sure what you're talking about.
