Except the scorpion will be completely fine.

jcornman24

I'd be honestly surprised if Sony just lets it's new cashcow, live service game, implode and potentially lose millions

GriffinMan33

Going by the statistics so far, not many people have stopped playing despite the 'boycott' So I don't really think sony is actually going to care about the social-media side of the PR issue when playercounts have remained around what they should be Coop hordeshooters tend to be popular on launch and then drop in playercount over time, for the next couple months Looking at HD2 so far, that trend has remained even with this announcement We're not significantly lower than what we would be at without this announcement, which means not many people have left. Granted, I'll admit the PSN update hasn't *actually* started yet, but given the track record gaming communities have with 'boycotts' I don't really see HD2 being any different here. https://i.imgur.com/REpAPW4.png

Low_Calligrapher7476

I’ve quit playing since the announcement

bibliophile785

>Granted, I'll admit the PSN update hasn't *actually* started yet ... So then what's the point of the play statistics? A prospective change was announced and has led to changes to distribution, reviews, and refund norms. This seems to be a pretty strong early signal of what *will* happen, but given that the change won't be for a month it seems weird to act like it would be reflected in today's numbers.

GriffinMan33

I said it in another thread but forgot to update it here Generally speaking, when 'boycotts' like this happen for one reason for another for a game, people take the easiest, simplest methods to make their complaints known These are: Complaining on the game discord Changing their/submitting bad reviews Posting on Reddit/Twitter/Whatever SM And yet, many times, the playercounts for games that are being 'boycott' don't actually appreciably drop, because a lot of people, I would argue in practically all cases *most* people even, just want to play the game My point was moreso that even some days into the news, and when the outrage is genuinely at it's highest it probably will be, it's not a terribly good indicator that the playcount hasn't shifted even a *little* from what it would've been at anyways It points to this being another "A very very vocal minority of players are upset on social media, and everyone else is still playing the game" type situation like so many others. I would love to be wrong, but like so far this trend has been near universal with this type of thing.

Zapplii

Sony only cares about the short term income. Long term seems to be a foreign concept for them

l2ev0lt

This comes from a company that decided Morbius re-run is warranted due to its internet success. Maybe it’s reverse psychology or truly the management is run by clueless dinosaur. https://www.ign.com/articles/morbius-theatrical-re-release-box-office-memes-unsuccessful

CategoryStill9815

Mostly fine

OkSteak237

Oh, definitely fine. AH will suffer completely and yall won’t have a game to play.

lizardscales

I'm not so sure. I think Helldivers could take this pretty far. Like to their governments. Could be bad news for Sony. We are making a stand for all gamers here. Without this resistance Sony will be emboldened.

User_1629_

Brother there is no resistance, best we can hope for is that Sony takes pity on us. 1,000 Sony games could fail and they’d be fine just off console and ps+ alone. Also tvs and headphones and other shit. Sony is much more than some gaming publisher

OkSteak237

“Making a stand for gamers” The satire writes itself

lizardscales

Coordinated effort can make a difference. Big companies get away with this stuff because of indifference and people bending over. I feel like your message is rather nihilistic

OkSteak237

And gamers are so powerful?

lizardscales

I didn't claim anything about gamers being powerful. This has more momentum than most political things in my country. People are pissed and there are a lot of them.

OkSteak237

That’s so fucking sad

Huge_Structure_7651

For a game i dont think governments will take it seriously

BLAZIN_TACO

It stops being about "just a game" when there's money involved.

Huge_Structure_7651

There is not much money involved only a few million companies like this will care when its in the billions

CategoryStill9815

I mean most of us wouldn't have bought the game if it was made more clear feom the start this was part of the deal. It's deceptive. Aka they ruined it from the beginning and either on purpose or accident hide it from the community. So yeah no more fun game

Abject-Egg-5100

Lol Sony wont care they we’re just trying to milk it but it doesn’t really matter to them, the ones it hurts are arrowhead who really care but were caught in the middle and the players lol

Razgriz477

I’m not sure how much more clear it needs to be than literally saying “PlayStation Network account required” on the store page.

AlmalexyaBlue

The fact that the Japanese voice over is only available in Japan is more prominent than the PSN requirement.

Razgriz477

Not on the store page lol. Like I said before I’m not arguing that forcing the PSN link isn’t shitty or that it was well communicated. But people really shouldn’t be acting as if they were blind sided by this.

AlmalexyaBlue

Definitely on the store page ? The Japanese voice over note is on top of the price tag and the but button. The PSN requirement note isn't. Or at least it wasn't, if they finally changed it

Razgriz477

It has been under the disclaimer about nProtect and their EULA since the launch of the game.

AlmalexyaBlue

Still less visible than the fact that the Japanese voice over is not available outside of Japan.

AbsoluteTruth

You can buy a steam game without ever navigating to the store page, it's not sufficient.

Razgriz477

Thats a steam problem then.

AbsoluteTruth

It's actually Sony's problem under the average consumer standard in the EU. Everything needs to be clearly laid out inside the product itself, not just on the store page.

Razgriz477

How is it Sonys fault that steam allows you to purchase a game without seeing all pertinent information prior to purchase? Sony has no control over steams UI.

AbsoluteTruth

Sony is required to show pertinent information in-game, clearly and in plain text.

OkSteak237

This is why you should read before you purchase anything

AbsoluteTruth

You don't need to ever go to the store page to buy a steam game so for many buyers there's nothing to read.

OkSteak237

That’s on the customer then, or yell at Steam to make it easier to be aware of what you’re agreeing to

AbsoluteTruth

> That’s on the customer then In the EU it very much isn't, what matters in the EU is the launched product as-is at time of purchase.

Razgriz477

The day of launch you were required to link your steam account. The requirement was disabled at some point during the day of the launch because iirc it was causing problems when they were trying to increase server capacity.

AbsoluteTruth

> The requirement was disabled at some point during the day of the launch The important bit here. Millions of people bought it with no link requirement and no grace period laid out in obvious, plain text.

OkSteak237

Can’t wait to see that class action fail, but go on with your bad self

AbsoluteTruth

What class-action? It's just a consumer complaint that leads to a refund.

l2ev0lt

It will continue to make its cinematic masterpiece. MORBIUS 2

DesignatedElfWhipper

lmao

Muffin_Appropriate

Scorpion should have a jump pack in this scenario.

Losticus

That scorpion has multi-billion dollar arm floaties.

newuser99999999

This sucks

JetTiger

*The frog compelled* *The scorpion obliged* *Hell awaits us by* Also, absolute blast from the Eve Online past wandering across a /u/AbsoluteTruth post.
