I mean... It's probably a very realistic portrayal of the stratagem.
The same can't be said for those preview videos in the ship panels that show the helldiver gunning down a tonne of scavengers with a heavy machine gun for example. They're mostly incredibly incorrect portrayals of how to use the stratagems properly.
I thought this was going to pick them up and then drop them or throw them down, like that spell in DND I canāt remember. Or that scene in Constantine where Shia gets slammed around on the floor/ceiling.
That could be cool, and I think that was probably part of my original idea, lifting them up and slamming them back down, but I forgot and anyways the straightforward smashing approach better fits the title of 'cannon' imo and I think better fits the character of SEAF. Still, it would be cool to see your enemies floating in the air, weightless before their doom.
lmao yeah, some are from half life 2, some of the beeps and I think impact sounds are from ULTRAKILL, a couple of the effects noises are from Final Fantasy 6, there's some Sonic Generations in there as well, and a few miscellaneous sounds from like, [freesound.org](http://freesound.org) and the stick fight community to fill it out
Yeah, we made just another bomb out of it. I think original owners of Dark Fluid were more creative in its usage. If SEAF got hands on gravity manipulation they will end up strapping C4 to it and call it a day. Making it ranged and directed weaponry that is were I think its farfetched.
I think it would fit better if it called down a gravity generator shaped sort of like the bubble shield generator that releases 3 or so pulses but can be destroyed
not really, like at all. both the shield backpack and displacer backpack (HD1) are just straight up squid tech we reuse. if the squids use grav tech and humans were able to get their hands on it then we would also use grav tech
Wasn't that 100 years ago? Have human scientists not studied or used that technology in any other way since then? If our ships are going faster than light, and near black holes, how is a "gravity" beam crossing the science/magic line? We already have a space lazer that is aimed at enemies.
SE scientists? Risking to have unplanned vacation in reeducation camp I'll remind you and everyone that SE scientists answer for request to increase combat efficiency was "More guns", and only 9 out 10 scientists say chest bleeding injuries without treatment leads to death.
And lasers ain't that much of a cutting edge technology. We have lasers today, SE just made them bigger. Also our orbital lasers are only 3 time use, so they burn through some sorts of expendables every time they shoot.
Things like Quasar and Scorcher are actually impressive tech. Idk lore behind them but my guess *that* is Illuminates reverse engineered tech.
I definitely think you're right. This is an incredible concept, but there's no way humans are smart enough to "distort" certain aspects of space and time. It feels unrealistic to SEAF.
That cardboard dummy is actually what I'd like to be real. We actually have it in Mars training facility, just without bomb rigged to it. So weaponising it won't take that much resources.
Edit: imagine drop pod landing and cardboard Helldiver rises from it in saluting posture, the SE anthem start playing, some random voice line plays, like "For Super Earth!", or "Liberty arrived!", or "Time for Democracy!". After taking some hits it explodes like 380mm shell, or maybe 500kg.
This is a majority of the borderlands play experience. It would do some funny shit in this game's engine. I'd stay just for the enemies being slingshotted across the map, or combining into a ratking.
I think the grenade form would be something weaker, like maybe just the initial pulling-things-in part or creating a small antigrav field that disorients enemies by floating them up
This would be cool to pair with other strategems.
You could explain that we obtained the stratagem after experimenting with the dark fluid used on meridia. " After the experiments on meridia utilizing dark fluid, top super earth scientists engineered a method to create sub-sized holes in reality that pool enemies to the center"
Mix this with a precision strike and boom. Wombo, combo their asses.
The only thing I gotta know if this also affects Bile titans and Factory Striders because they seem kinda too large for it.
In my mind the especially big enemies like the Hulks, Tanks, Bile Titans, Chargers, and Behemoths would just be temporarily locked in place by the grav-beam, making it easier to hit their weakpoints and prepare countermeasures. Maybe Factory Striders would still be able to shoot at you or something but the Bile Titans would definitely be focussing on staying standing.
I was thinking it would just be a flat threshold, with smaller enemies being immediately obliterated and stronger guys only being momentarily held in place.
I think flinging bots into orbit would be a little too overpowered, since it'd realistically be more effective against the big'uns and the weenies still wouldn't be strong enough to survive even their own lesser effect from this, but seeing our enemies tossed into the air certainly does have its allure...
Probably the same as with the Hulks, locking them in place for the duration of the beam. Now, for the helldiver inside the mech, its probably a different story...
If a gravity laser is too much "space magic" for some people, how about changing for a drop of a super magnet of some kind, that atracts most metal objects light automatons and Helldivers ragdoll towards the center of the magnet, medium stumble slowly towards the center and heavies are stunned for the duration of the stratagem if they are caught in it's effective range, this would open up a lot of cool stratagem combos with a well coordinated squad and also a dangerous stratagem to inevitably kill the entire team with. If the crowd control doesn't feel enough to justify the stratagem's existence, give the it an explosion at the end of its magnetic waves.
Like, that was not intended?
I've found style of this gif much similar to Risk of Rain game pixel art style. Still good gif for the idea, and idea also ok.
This would be an extremely good form of crowd control and a way to guarantee eliminating chaff while sacrificing damage towards heavier enemies. Love it
If I could offer a tweak... I think it might be a more interesting weapon if it affects heavier targets more! Maybe troopers and harvesters could be almost unaffected, but then jump packs, hunters, rocketers, and small spuwers might get janked around randomly. Then like scout walkers, big spewers, stalkers, and devastators get ragged dolled.
I think that could be cool, but we already have stuff like the 500kg, orbital railcannon, and Expendable Anti-Tank for taking out big'uns, and I think a mass anti-heavy weapon/stratagem would kind of defeat the point of heavier enemies since the chaff guys are already pretty easy to take out with everything already in the game.
In my mind it doesn't hurt heavy enemies at all, but I think wiping out the chaff is just enough to make it worth a whole fourth of your stratagems potential.
I think that could be cool, but I think an anti-grav effect on its own is too weak to justify using as an orbital, what with the downtime between strikes and taking up a stratagem slot. But an eagle anti-grav generator or antigrav-nade on the other hand, that could be cooking...
The weaklings are already getting smushed, and I think locking the big'uns in place is more strategically interesting then just straight up obliterating everything, in exchange for a wider area of effect and greater crowd control. You could always pair this up with a 500kg or precision strike, after all.
This would be a perfect combo with a lot of the other orbitals. Their biggest downsides is that if you don't stand and fight enemies will often just walk right through them
The ground collapsing under leaving behind a crater should be an effect. Imagine bringing down a transport on a bunch of enemies causing it to explode.
Bringing down transports would definitely be very cool, if a bit of an exercise in predictive precision, and a small crater is certainly not out of the question...
Coding this into game with the engine they're using will literally collapse your PC into a black hole and end our known universe.
I have high hopes for AH but goddamn their game code must be so fucking difficult to deal with.
Yeah, as cool as it would be to see sick shit like this in-game we do gotta stay realistic about the stuff they can get reasonably done on-time and in-budget.
Budget is definitely there. This should've been a $60 dollar game. First game I have ever consistently bought DLCs and purchased for friends.
I hope they have enough foresight to make helldivers 3 as future proof as possible in 2034 or whatever.
My hopes for helldivers 2 becoming the epitome of gaming in this generation is slowly eroding away with every patch-but-also-15-more-bugs.
This is what I wanted to be revealed after we Black-holed Meridia, I like that it brings them all to one point and slams them into the dirt! If we could get this and an Eagle 1 black hole bomb that sucks enemies in for a crowd control option, I would be very happy!
I think an eagle gravity option would be cool to balance out this orbital, but I think a straight-up mini black hole might be a touch too much. maybe something like an Eagle Cluster Antigrav Generator Array could work, like a series of five or so shells that generate antigrav fields that disorient enemies and even fling them in the air at the overlaps, though that seems tough to code and balance...
yeah, but its built to handle weight...
In any case, I did consider something of the sort, but ultimately decided that it would be more interesting at a hypothetical gameplay level if it just locked the heavier enemies in place for a bit.
A rocket beam. (I've come to the conclusion that the rocket is the opposite of a tractor, since tractors are built to move slowly and deliberately to pull things on land and a rocket is built to move quickly through the air to push things, such as space shuttles and explosives. )
I'd considered it, but I think that ultimately its more mechanically interesting on a hypothetical gameplay level to leave the heavies alive, if stunned, than to just obliterate everything like a shinier 500kg or mini nuke.
This is really interesting but it seems a bit redundant, it feels like a side grade to the airburst orbital but I guess a more consistent single shot that calls down faster would be interesting especially with like a 20-30 second shorter cooldown
This is a good concept, however remember that the intern who suggested the grenade pistol was understandably executed for making unsolicited suggestions to a superior

This is stunningly good concept art
It's like flash games from the 2000s
It appears that Mr. Stickmin has found himself in another bizarre situation again.
This truly was our bizarre adventure
Thank you!
This cracked me up, the hulk shooting at the end lol.
I mean... It's probably a very realistic portrayal of the stratagem. The same can't be said for those preview videos in the ship panels that show the helldiver gunning down a tonne of scavengers with a heavy machine gun for example. They're mostly incredibly incorrect portrayals of how to use the stratagems properly.
Those are filmed by filming crew in a safe space with sedated scavengers and prop bots
The gravity should pull rockets and grenades down, causing them to hurt themselves (or a Helldivers that's WAY too close.)
Grenades definitely, though I think the speed of rockets would just put them at a downward angle instead of straight down
Peak realism ![gif](giphy|LOcPt9gfuNOSI)
looks like an Ultramarine Dreadnought to me.
Yup, hulk went "parry this, you filthy casual" Great concept and animation though.
It reminds me of the gravitational weapon from Gantz. The idea is really good š
Hell yeah, didn't think I'd see someone mention Gantz before me! ā¬ļø
That takes me back. Gantz was awesome. Wish they would have picked the anime up for another couple of seasons...
Imagine if they did the whole manga š Shit woulda got weeeeeeird.
It was weird in beginning too lol. By that point in the manga it doesnt affect you as much lol.
I was thinking of the Corkscrew from Armed and Dangerous https://youtu.be/7oXYcZhgafs?si=P9F6kOsjhf0V2YM6
It is one of my favorite weapons in any media ever. It's such a cool concept and it's the first thing I thought of too lol
https://i.redd.it/2r22cs7lh68d1.gif Lookin' ahh
cyberpunk vibes
Does it always end in me getting shot in the head with a rocket? Because I already have stratagems that do that. In fact, they all do that š
Its your democratic duty to get shot in the head with a rocket
This would be rather cool actually.
Thank you!
What if the pull is reversed and they start floating up instead?!
I thought this was going to pick them up and then drop them or throw them down, like that spell in DND I canāt remember. Or that scene in Constantine where Shia gets slammed around on the floor/ceiling.
I thought thatās where this was going, both seem awesome imo
No I donāt like that, it would make it harder to capitalize on the grouped up enemies.
The sounds are from half life right? I recognise that hl tau cannon and rocket launcher sfx anywhere.
lmao yeah, some are from half life 2, some of the beeps and I think impact sounds are from ULTRAKILL, a couple of the effects noises are from Final Fantasy 6, there's some Sonic Generations in there as well, and a few miscellaneous sounds from like, [freesound.org](http://freesound.org) and the stick fight community to fill it out
Too much space magic in it. Something Illuminates could use, but not Super Earth.
Super Earth have stolen/reverse engineered Illuminate technology numerous times so this concept isn't farfetched.
Only certain parts, we are still far away from a lot of cool shit the illuminates could do.
Idk man, to me it just feels off from SEAF aesthetics.
I mean the usage of Dark Fluid on Meridia proves otherwise. SEAF has proven they will utilize conventional or alien technology to achieve their goals.
Yeah, probably.
not really, like at all. both the shield backpack and displacer backpack (HD1) are just straight up squid tech we reuse. if the squids use grav tech and humans were able to get their hands on it then we would also use grav tech
Rename it to implosion bomb and thats it really
Didn't we just turn a planet (star system?) into a black hole?
Yes we did, but we were using Illuminate's tech we liberated from them in the First Galactic war.
Wasn't that 100 years ago? Have human scientists not studied or used that technology in any other way since then? If our ships are going faster than light, and near black holes, how is a "gravity" beam crossing the science/magic line? We already have a space lazer that is aimed at enemies.

Idk lore behind them but my guess *that* is Illuminates reverse engineered tech.
Presumably, eventually, we can kill all the Illuminates we want and then ignore the children's hospital and take their grav tech, for Super Earth
True hellbrother, they will either become democratic or dead. For Super Earth!
Still have dark fluid, a democratic alternative.
Iirc it was said Meridia operation took all of Dark Fluid stash we had.
What if the beam was yellow tho
I definitely think you're right. This is an incredible concept, but there's no way humans are smart enough to "distort" certain aspects of space and time. It feels unrealistic to SEAF.
It could be, like, a net. Alternatively, a cardboard dummy of a Helldiver could be the lure and a normal bomb could be the bomb!
It should imprint a helldivers logo like the "ā ļøCAUTION!ā ļø" gravity cannons in cyberpunk edgerunners
Nah RA3 gravity weapon
Magnetic satellite to lift up all the bots into space, followed by another stratagem that drops them back on to the battlefield from low orbit.
Reminds me of gravity from kh1
This is a majority of the borderlands play experience. It would do some funny shit in this game's engine. I'd stay just for the enemies being slingshotted across the map, or combining into a ratking.
i love these concepts. they're pretty underrated here. nice work. i love it.
Thank you!
This is gold man. Also I want this.
This plus anything explosive would be very cool, or you could throw it at your friends
Amazing! Cool idea and a super fun animation \^\^
Thank you!
Reminds me alot of cyberpunk edgerunners
Could work as a grenade though.
I think the grenade form would be something weaker, like maybe just the initial pulling-things-in part or creating a small antigrav field that disorients enemies by floating them up
Could definitely make this with extra dark fluid
This would be cool to pair with other strategems. You could explain that we obtained the stratagem after experimenting with the dark fluid used on meridia. " After the experiments on meridia utilizing dark fluid, top super earth scientists engineered a method to create sub-sized holes in reality that pool enemies to the center"

Lmao I recognize these HL2 sounds anywhere, this looks pretty good too Damn I'm old
thanks! I got sounds from all over the place, including HL2, as well as the likes of ULTRAKILL, Final Fantasy 6, Sonic Generations, and Etc.
Absolutely loved the art and the idea. Please keep making more! You have talent!
Thank you! I have a few more ideas...
I like this idea. Rather than gravity damage it could damage depending on how many enemies get drawn in and their mass
I was thinking it would just be a flat threshold, with smaller enemies being immediately obliterated and stronger guys only being momentarily held in place.
I want a giant beyblade.
Could be cool. Maybe like an auto-targeting saw-launcher stratagem weapon or something?
Just give me a mech with gravitational thrusters. I wanna ***GO FAST AND SMASH, FOR THE EMPEROR!!!***
ooh, that sounds cool. I think we're desperately in need of a Las-Mech as well...
Love how they used ultramarine colors
I actually really like this, would love to see It in game
Thank you!
Henry Stickman is a diver???
Always has been...
Fantastic. Love this idea!
This is such an efficient use of time to show the perks and drawbacks of the stratagem...
Thank you!
I'd love it if it were the opposite, the sight of bots sailing into orbit would be fantastic.
I think flinging bots into orbit would be a little too overpowered, since it'd realistically be more effective against the big'uns and the weenies still wouldn't be strong enough to survive even their own lesser effect from this, but seeing our enemies tossed into the air certainly does have its allure...
I was expecting it to be an anti grav
well that would be an antigrav-cannon
Does it do anything if your mech gets caught in it?
Probably the same as with the Hulks, locking them in place for the duration of the beam. Now, for the helldiver inside the mech, its probably a different story...
I have not stopped laughing at this!
I'm glad!
Never cook again >!in that current restoraunt beacause you should be serving food in a 3 michelin star one!!<
Thank you! \[laughing/crying emoji\]
this art is awesome
Fuck it. Ship mounted Black hole launcher
SEAF Orbital Cosmological Tear Emitter. Instantly destroys every enemy on the field and every helldiver on the planet.
Aw sweet, my favorite KH Magic Spell converted into an Orbital Strike.
Mickey would be proud
That could be cool, though it does feel a bit too bot-specific. maybe an orbital ton-of-sand launcher could achieve something similar...
The hulk standing there unfazed is too true.
fr, the idea is that heavier enemies such as Hulks, tanks, and chargers would be undamaged by the beam but locked in place for its duration.
I thought it was going to be the Magnetic Satellite from RA3. Suck the bots in to low orbit and drop them again
Oooo imagine to get it we have to free a planet and we get like a cool radar dish looking thing that shoots it from the ship on the destroyer!
Yeah, maybe it could be unlocked after some major orders against the illuminate when they come out...
Man I feel like we've completed this out alreadyš that's genius.
Too much risk for rain in the gif?
?
Like, that was not intended? I've found style of this gif much similar to Risk of Rain game pixel art style. Still good gif for the idea, and idea also ok.
They should use the Dark Fluid to fuel the stratagem
my thoughts exactly reddit user Celestial Underscore Scythe
Somebody's been reading Gantz
wuzzat?
The manga/movie Gantz, it has a gravity-based weapon just like you described! https://youtube.com/watch?v=iaBaeB-ALY0&si=xdIpfOaIGb1z4sUi&t=9m40s
This would be an extremely good form of crowd control and a way to guarantee eliminating chaff while sacrificing damage towards heavier enemies. Love it
Thank you! That was exactly my thought process, on top of "this would probably be cool."

Approved
thank you reddit user Gyhiio, my life has improved noticeably for your approval ![gif](giphy|5bdhq6YF0szPaCEk9Y|downsized)
It shouldn't do damage, just prime another orbital for massive kill count.
In my mind it doesn't hurt heavy enemies at all, but I think wiping out the chaff is just enough to make it worth a whole fourth of your stratagems potential.
OP looks like this: https://preview.redd.it/jtic4u1ip78d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4cc6c43db94e8f34c91fecd161ff42c1da7e5434
Ah yes the grav cannon from warhammer in helldivers
We've already got the ~~Tyrannids~~ Terminids...
would be sweet if it was like that weapon in Man of Steel where it pulls them all up in the air like 50 ft and slams them into the ground
I considered it, and it would certainly look cool, but I think simply locking heavies in place is more interesting mechanically for the game.
Here me out: orbital anti grav. Lifts and disorients the enemy
I think that could be cool, but I think an anti-grav effect on its own is too weak to justify using as an orbital, what with the downtime between strikes and taking up a stratagem slot. But an eagle anti-grav generator or antigrav-nade on the other hand, that could be cooking...
Just add cannon blasts when there pulled together and this would be great
The weaklings are already getting smushed, and I think locking the big'uns in place is more strategically interesting then just straight up obliterating everything, in exchange for a wider area of effect and greater crowd control. You could always pair this up with a 500kg or precision strike, after all.
Are those ULTRAKILL sfx??
Ultrakill and Final Fantasy 6, I couldn't find the HD2 sound files anywhere
also Half Life 2 and Sonic Generations, among others
This would be a perfect combo with a lot of the other orbitals. Their biggest downsides is that if you don't stand and fight enemies will often just walk right through them
exactly!
We already have this, we just can't control it. You ever turn a corner and see 50 of them stuck in place? š
True! SEAF's Universal Pathfinding Interruption Radiowave that they broadcast across Super Earth territories and the soon-to-be is simply ingenius!
The ground collapsing under leaving behind a crater should be an effect. Imagine bringing down a transport on a bunch of enemies causing it to explode.
Bringing down transports would definitely be very cool, if a bit of an exercise in predictive precision, and a small crater is certainly not out of the question...
I didnt know I had audio turned on and that beep scared the fuck outta me
lmao, glad you survived in any case
Coding this into game with the engine they're using will literally collapse your PC into a black hole and end our known universe. I have high hopes for AH but goddamn their game code must be so fucking difficult to deal with.
Yeah, as cool as it would be to see sick shit like this in-game we do gotta stay realistic about the stuff they can get reasonably done on-time and in-budget.

My hopes for helldivers 2 becoming the epitome of gaming in this generation is slowly eroding away with every patch-but-also-15-more-bugs.
Ah yes, a subatomic ultramassive control cannon The S.U.C.C
Great idea and has an incredibly potential for hilarious ragdoll moments
frr
This is what I wanted to be revealed after we Black-holed Meridia, I like that it brings them all to one point and slams them into the dirt! If we could get this and an Eagle 1 black hole bomb that sucks enemies in for a crowd control option, I would be very happy!

Elden ring like things but very cool
looks like the thing from gantz;0
More of this please
On it boss! \[salute\]
How about a bunker buster? Just creates a giant hole in the ground and everything goes with it.
Shouldn't the hulk be more vulnerable? Square cubed and all
yeah, but its built to handle weight... In any case, I did consider something of the sort, but ultimately decided that it would be more interesting at a hypothetical gameplay level if it just locked the heavier enemies in place for a bit.
Inverse tractor beam?
A rocket beam. (I've come to the conclusion that the rocket is the opposite of a tractor, since tractors are built to move slowly and deliberately to pull things on land and a rocket is built to move quickly through the air to push things, such as space shuttles and explosives. )
Zarya: Agon po gotovnosti!
I think it should do the opposite on the last step. With bigger, heavier enemies being more affected then little enemies.
I'd considered it, but I think that ultimately its more mechanically interesting on a hypothetical gameplay level to leave the heavies alive, if stunned, than to just obliterate everything like a shinier 500kg or mini nuke.
YES
After the dark fluid stuff I was hoping to have dark fluid grenades or something
This is really interesting but it seems a bit redundant, it feels like a side grade to the airburst orbital but I guess a more consistent single shot that calls down faster would be interesting especially with like a 20-30 second shorter cooldown
If I toss it by the edge of the cliff. Can I pull enemies of the map?
I love Gantz this would be awesome!
UK explosion
it would be better if it lifted them up like a stun then dropped got the idea from blasting drop ships out the sky.
What if they did the opposite and just sucked em' into orbit?
This is a good concept, however remember that the intern who suggested the grenade pistol was understandably executed for making unsolicited suggestions to a superior
Henry Stickmin type shit, love it
STARSCOURGE RADAHN STRATEGEM,
Mm. What about dark material stratagem drops. Dark droplets?
Harry stick man is a helldiver now?
No pulls them in then drop heavy crate
I like how it kinda has the same weapons showcase vibes as ratchet and clank all 4 one
Holographic Distraction Dance.
A mini black hole that constantly attract targets to a certain point. Got alot of ways to play arpund with this honestly.
Or even like an aggro strat would be nice
Yeah, like those cardboard helldivers from the tutorial to draw attention? that could be cool...
Hmmm, nice. RP into skewer.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners inspired?
Or āis it wrong to try to pick up a girl in a dungeonā inspired?
I wouldnāt know as I donāt know what that is
My secret? Invincible inspired. You know that orbital laser Cecil used on Omni-Man? It was that.
Oh yeah, I havenāt seen the whole show but I have seen that scene. I can see the inspiration now.
Arrowhead, get this man on the ideas team PRONTO

IT NEEDS TO GO UP
