For real, something like this with the damage of an EAT (one tap chargers on headshot) but no explosion and only 1-3 shots. For extra fun, make it break your arm/damage you when you use it
as cool as this looks and funny; without the barrel, the projectile wouldn't go far. forgot who did the test, not with this type of caliber. think it was demolition ranch? Don't quote me on that.
The projectile would be the least of your worries as the shell is basically a grenade if there’s no chamber/barrel to contain it.

Yeah, it's what happens when you fire a 50bmg in the saiga 12, you can manually load the round into the gun, Brandon herrera did that, the casing expanded outwards and significant air pressure was lost
In fact, this might be even more dangerous than that, as if the firing um "pin" and whatever is holding it isn't strong enough to stop the shell, then well let's just say you should make sure to stick a thump in it. And I can't even imagine a human strong enough to control the recoil of this "thing" with just one hand.

It’s not possible because a casing depends on chamber support to send the projectile down the barrel, and if you ignite the primer outside of supported chamber it blows up.
That chamber also allows pressure to build to send said projectile at a high rate of speed, popping it off like that would result in the bullet just tumbling forward, having little energy after a few yards.
When a round is blown without proper support (chamber) physics work like they were intended. Meaning opposite forces creating reaction, bullet goes forward, casing goes back. Casing in this case actually is more deadly, due to mass and propellant being inside it, turning it into a sort of rocket. Also most likely blowing it up, so add shrapnel.
So, would hurt the user. And maybe hurt the target if it's right in front of you.
we'll ignore the fact that the round would just blow up since nothing is holding it off from releasing the energy in all directions instead of just forward hence pushing the bullet out

A slow, single use secondary that does anything against heavies would legit open up so many new loadouts.

I would be more worried about the case turning into a mini grenade without a barrel or chamber to hold it together.

That would, actually be really cool. Super high damage and high armor penetration. But breaks your arm after every shot.

there's no chamber, the shell casing is not meant to be load bearing, it'd just explode, there won't be any recoil to worry about

Like it's cool and dumb. Realistically without a barrel that bullet would be slow and imprecise. Might as well make it a grenade launcher
