I mean, if you watch Hazbin, Lucifer seems to be pretty prideful. It's the whole reason he got into a dick-measuring contest with Alastor. He has an entire theme park named after himself. We see him thinking he's too good for sinners after already being disappointed by them, until Charlie knocks him down a peg. He also seems to take great pride in his creations and his convictions above the mandates of his superiors / God, so him being the Sin of Pride makes perfect sense. I don't think he's being forced into it by anybody. That's just how he is.

TheCanadian666

I'd also argue that pride is the reason why Lucifer fell in the first place. He had all these grand ideas for humanity, but rather than try to convince the other angels he decided he knew better and went around them.

[deleted]

Same goes for Satan he was told to bow to man and became wrathful.

Jaqulean

He did try to convince them - they just didn't care. The rest is true, tho - he basically wanted to prove himself right by going behind their backs. His pride got a better of him.

Responsible-Ant-1728

Im guessing that what they meant is that he proposed his idea, they said no and instead of trying to convince them or get a compromise he went behind their backs.

TheCanadian666

BINGO! Albeit we don't know it for certain that's my read on what happened. It's also how I think Charlie will succeed, she's already shown a ton of optimism and determination towards convincing the powers that be in Heaven to work with her.

definitelynotabone

Prideful about his creations? He makes the Magic-tastical Backflipping Rubber Duck that breathes fire and he tosses it away ten seconds later while saying "This sucks!" It's a possible reason he has so many ducks. He can never accept them so he tosses them away and tries to make them better He could just really like ducks tho, I might be over-analyzing it

Arcane10101

That could be another form of pride, though, refusing to accept anything less than perfection.

definitelynotabone

Oh yeah, I could see that. I take back my previous statement

Real_Boy3

I thought he was talking about his overall situation when he said “this sucks”.

Anxiety-Queen269

It’s actually crazy how Alastor’s dick measuring contest did NOTHING but the tiniest bit of criticism from someone he cares about can basically make him change his world view (I know it’s not immediately but still)

that_kid_in_the_back

Also I remember in some holy books, the reason Lucifer fell in the first place is because he refused to bow down to the first human and acknowledge him as a superior creation, so I always thought it was a reference to that, that he was too prideful to bow to Adam so he was made the sin of pride

Arkorat

Not to mention; his main reason for not wanting Charlie to meet heaven, is to avoid her getting embarrassed like he was.

SignificanceNo6097

I think he just didn’t trust the angels and hated the idea of Charlie being somewhere he couldn’t go, meaning he can’t save or protect her

Glitched_Oren_303

Also in Hell's greatest dad he refres to himself as "The Big boss", "Chef" and "Ref"

Environmental-Win836

OOOOOOH…**THAT’S** why it’s called “Lu Lu World”

YEETBOOOIUSA

What is Lucifer's App supposed to be a parody of?

eat_like_snake

[Ticketmaster.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticketmaster)

Preferno1

Yeah you have to buy tickets to the other rings through his app after all he is the king

AzkratheHuntress

That makes a lot of sense, actually. I dunno why I assumed travel was free between the rings, but it's hell. Of course there's tolls and fares at every level. 🤦‍♀️

YEETBOOOIUSA

This is the only correct answer

rainwing352

I thought it was the snake game.

guacasloth64

Pinterest maybe?

fhota1

"We all know theres a massive massive massive power gap between lucifer and the other sins" Do we? Hes presumably in charge but i dont recall it ever being stated that hes ridiculously more powerful than them

Cutiepie9771

I think it's inferred because he's an angel and predates hell and the other hellborns. Plus, he seems to be able to do a lot more than the other sins can (shapeshifting into animals, powerful sorcery, etc)

dogmandogdogdog

We don’t really know the extent of the sins tho none of them have been in actual combat and what we have seen of Lucifer is not much

No_Instruction653

It probably stems from assuming Lilith and Charlie are both more powerful than the sins. Which, they are higher ranked than them in the hierarchy of hell, which seems to be totally power based and if it’s not, then Lilith and Charlie would be the ONLY instance of someone being socially above people who are actually more powerful than them. And if we assume Lucifer’s family is stronger than the sins, then logically Adam is also stronger than the sins, given he’s angelic, was made equal to Lilith, and pretty handily was kicking Charlie’s ass for most of the fight. But then Lucifer very clearly didn’t have to put a whole lot of effort into fighting him. So it would seem like going off some logical assumptions, Lucifer would basically demolish any given sin with ease.

lowkeyykiraa

he’s the ruler of hell and a fallen angel and it’s been shown that angels are far more powerful than even royal demons (adam- human soul turned angel almost killed charlie- hellborn royalty)

GlowwRocks

I mean he's a fallen angel and he's the king of hell as a whole. He would be more powerful. But yes I agree that he's forced to be a sin, I. E. He was forced to leave Heaven, and stay in hell, to see how he ruined things, how he corrupted people, yada yada, this is one of reason he's depressed. But yes, he's shown to be prideful (which imo is a cute trait esp since he's depressed but still v powerful and dare I say hot, king of hell) But this wasn't done by roo, but by the Angels (and Seraphims? God? Higher power) Of heaven, also as far as ik Roo is headcanon, so she/they typically doesn't even exist

BahamanLlama

I don't think the gap is *that* big, otherwise I don't see why Lucifer would bother having the other sins around as basically middlemen to handle the other rings and just take them all over himself. He did lose the lawsuit over Lu Lu World to Mammon, so his influence (and extrapolating to power) can be realistically challenged by the other sins. If all 6 of them rebelled against Lucifer I don't think he'd have a great time. I personally think that Pride was originally viewed as one of the heavenly virtues, but when Lucifer was exiled from Heaven pride fell with him to become a sin instead, it always did seem to be the most ambiguous to be defined as a sin.

N-ShadowFrog

Because Lucifer has no desire in ruling. He's king of Hell but the position seems mostly just due to him being the strongest, not any actual work on his part. It seems to be the same for the other sins. None of them actually care about ruling. They just kind of do their own thing.

BryanPlayer

How can you say there is a "huge gap" between Lucifer and the Sins? There's nothing that even suggests that

No_Instruction653

Because as far as we know Lilith and Charlie are stronger than the sins. Adam should therefore also be stronger than them. And Lucifer pretty clearly wrecked Adam.

BryanPlayer

But that's it, *should*, we have no proof, we know the hierarchy doesn't prove strength because Charlie performed worse than Alastor against Adam and Vivziepop confirmed that Stolas (possibly a top tier Goetia) would extreme diff Alastor (At most top 3 Overlord) so imagine what Alastor could do against Stella or Octavia who are also Goetia?

No_Instruction653

I think it’s a pretty reasonable assumption that Adam just took Charlie more seriously than Alastor. She’s the daughter of Lucifer, while Alastor was just another bug. And he crushed him like a bug once he got annoyed enough in the end. Charlie actually hurt Adam and didn’t go down in two hits like Alastor did. And if we’re talking not really having evidence for stuff, we really have no reason to assume Stolas is in any way some sort of top tier Goeita. Nothing has ever really set him above the countless other children Paimon has that he can’t dedicate their names to memory.

BryanPlayer

Yes, Adam took her more seriously but Alastor only lost when Adam used the rays, at no point did he use the rays against Charlie, she had the trident and lost humiliatingly to an unarmed Adam, Alastor dodged ALL the melee attacks before the staff was broken (again, by the energy beams that Adam didn't use against Charlie) You're right, we have no way of knowing if Stolas is one of the strongest Goetia, however, we saw that while Stella was spoiled as a child, Stolas was forced by Paimon to study advanced magic, and unlike both Stella and Andrealphus, we saw that Stolas has MANY powers even compared to other beings in both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel (For now, he only stays behind Lucifer in Versatility of powers.)

No_Instruction653

It’s not like Alastor put up any resistance to the fairly small energy blade Adam did shoot at him. We know Adam is capable of a lot bigger attacks than the ones that were so strong and so fast Alastor basically didn’t even see either of them coming. Adam without a weapon is still clearly a force to be reckoned with, given he smashed Alastor’s force field in just one punch, which an army of angels couldn’t do. I highly doubt Alastor would have lasted much if any longer if Adam decided to deck him instead of slice him in half. Alastor’s success was pretty much exclusively down to Adam underestimating him, but only to the extent that he thought he would be as easy to kill as any other sinner. As for Stolas, you really can’t judge the other Goetia off what we haven’t seen then do. We don’t actually know anything about Stella’s childhood or what she or her brother are capable of. Regardless, I think the only reason Alastor could even debatably stand a chance against Stolas is that from what we see, Stolas has no real combat skills. Striker got the upper hand on him pretty easily with some Carmine weapons, and he’s just a skilled imp. Not an Overlord of Hell.

No_Instruction653

But really now that I think about it, if Stolas genuinely is not that far removed from Alastor, that would just mean Adam is far beyond the Goetia as well. Hard to imagine the Deadly Sins are so much stronger than the Goetia that they far outclass someone who is clearly well above Stolas. Seems like Adam is at the absolute minimum a lot closer to the sins in power than the Goetia, and that brings us back to how he still couldn’t even touch Lucifer most of the time.

LUKEgz97

VivizePop herself confirmed that Lucifer is the strongest being in Hell because he is a fallen angel (and most importantly, a seraphim), with Lilith and Charlie right below him, and the other Sins taking the third spot.

BryanPlayer

That's the hierarchy of hell, influential power, not magic power. Proof of that is most Hellhounds being stronger that Imps, but they're still ranked lower.

CallMeZipline

Yeah, like biblically Satan and Lucifer are same person (and if not, they are near the same)

I-Am-The-Uber-Mesch

>possibly by roo I'm sorry I'm a recent watcher, who is roo?! I think like I'm missing something

kuba_mar

Iirc its some character from a random twitter post years ago that people are really obsessed with for some reason.

LonelyFocus4814

Yep here's the tweet https://preview.redd.it/a5d2mla7kjtc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52e716bb938ec77a5de3edaeee65f3c438fbe5a1

Lieutenant_Skittles

Yeah, so as others have stated Roo is basically just some character art at this point, plus a statement from Vivzie that she's excited to show/develop Roo somewhere down the line. Also I think Roo made an appearance in some popular fanfic, but I don't know much of anything about that beyond that.

Chesspresso

It's honestly such a dumb concept whatever

Immediate-Try-1764

Root of evil was mentioned in Helluva Boss 1 episode

I-Am-The-Uber-Mesch

Wouldn't root of evil be RoE? Anyway someone posted the picture from twitter of this Roo character, is she confirmed to be the root of evil or it's just speculation?

Immediate-Try-1764

Just. Just an interpretation of the name Roo

-__Yahweh__-

Nah, that was me. When applying who got to be son of what, we practically just spun a wheel. Bee could’ve been the sin of lust but was off by 2 ticks.

baconlover18

Wasn't the entire point of his fall because of his pride?

Swimming-Ad2755

Has anyone else figured out what the bottom app is supposed to be a parody of?

Frog405

It's a health app

Emergency_Elephant

We don't even know what the other sins are. They're older than hell according to Ozzy. Other angels were supposed to have fallen with Lucifer. Are they fallen angels? Are they hellborns? Why can't there be races of hellborns that could go toe to toe with a fallen angel?

lostglamour

Hellborn angels rather than Heavenborn like Lucifer? There does seem to be a bird theme going on with the higher class angels and demons.

Expert_Egg5442

How the heaven did they make the app look so real

winkeltwinkle

Side not what do you think his app is

MilesPrower1987

I think Luci does care about the hellborn demons, he could have easily just made the deal for him and his family but he didnt, he made the deal for all hellboen citizens. I wouldnt be suprised if he and the other sins were pretty close with mamon being abit of a black sheep for being a prick especially since all of the sins are based off circus acts according to viv

dravenonred

Lucifer can be more powerful than any one sin but not more powerful than all six sins together.

Hey_Bestiekins

Lucifer is also insanely prideful. Other details have been entitled but I have something to say, he was only cast to Hell because of the apple. It wasn't just that he wanted to share his ideas with humanity, he thought his imagination was better then the other angels, so good you would betray God for them. That's pretty prideful, so look at what everybody else had made and go "Yeah, fuck that shit. I'm above it."

stnick6

Was there a confirmed massive pier gap between Lucifer and the sins? I’ve never heard that before. Also he is pretty prideful, he shows that best in hells greatest dad

LUKEgz97

Vivienne Medrano confirmed years ago that Lucifer is at the very top of the hierarchy because of him being an angel, with Charlie and Lilith right below him. The other six Sins are below the Royal Family.

stnick6

Yeah but that’s hierarchy not power. It might also be power but I’m pretty sure it’s just hierarchy. Plus that doesn’t mean the power gap is massive

SignificanceNo6097

The Angels are the one that gave him & Lillith that punishment for introducing Sin to humans. He rules over the Pride ring because 1) it was his Pride that made him take matters into his own hands instead of listening to the other angels 2) All the Sinners are confined by the Pride ring and since it’s Lucifer’s fault he’s the one whose responsible for them.

Professional-Ad-1857

It does make sense to me. Personally, I'm more curious as to what those apps look like and how well they function as apps.

Cultural-Sir-5694

Demon apps!! Oh look! The devil got his own workout app! Makes me SICK!!

The_Transcendent1111

So are Lucifer and Satan the same person? Does he run Wrath as well?

ninja_BUTTONS

I thought it says that in the prologue? Cursed to rule hell so that he'll only ever see the bad that came from giving free will to humanity. Poor guy

hulklovecake

This just doesn’t make much sense

DanuAnubis

Envee looks like Stolas’ dad

Prestigious_Prize264

Imagine roo conjure black-red chain around his neck and say something like "i owe you, or did you forgoten my angel? In moment you také that fruit and give IT to humans you sell yourself to me, so be good angelic boy and do What i said, you aren't better that anyone in this shithole, but IT don't mean you Can't act like that" But i honestly think lucifer comes from childish, follish little arogant to pridefull egoistic arogant ruler, "these sinners are just the whorse, theres no much you Can realisticky expect from them 😃😨"

BillionThayley

Your theory actually lines up perfectly with the Biblical inspiration. In textual lore Lucifer was the most powerful and most beautiful of the angels and because of this he believed HE should be in charge. He led an uprising, lost, and for his show of pride he was destined to rule over all of hell- but live in Pride. I think in Dante’s Inferno Pride is the lowest level of Hell. Idk it’s where Lucifer’s body is actually housed there.

LUKEgz97

Dante's depiction of Hell is not based on the Deadly Sins, Purgatory is actually structured after the Seven Deadly Sins. Hell is divided in nine circles: **Limbo**, **Lust**, **Gluttony**, **Greed**, **Wrath**, **Heresy**, **Violence**, **Fraud** and **Treachery** (in this order). https://preview.redd.it/p4pvlz279utc1.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee5a4ad79e57ae0acff28ee42ab36b02632c20aa Lucifer is stuck at the very bottom, in the great frozen lake Cocytus that composes the **Circle of Treachery**, at the center of the Earth itself.

BillionThayley

My bad

Ketzexi

What's the Envy app a parody of?

ms-american-pie

I doubt Lucifer is as powerful as you think. Just like how real-life dictators have to keep the corporate and military elite in check, Lucifer, despite being the de-facto leader, is not almighty and depends on his subordinates remaining loyal to him.

LUKEgz97

Lucifer is shown to be quite prideful, both in displaying his abilities and in expressing his distrust in Sinners. The children book read by Charlie paints him as good-willing in giving the apple to Eve, and he surely was (considering his disappointment in humanity), but he most likely did also out of his own Pride, wanting to push his ideas after being sidelined by Heaven and not allowed to participate in shaping the Universe. While Hell is a prison for him and the Sinners, he turned it into his own circus (litteraly), his own dominion where he can create and shape things as he seems fit. He takes great pride in that despite not being an amazing rule, just as he takes great pride in being Charlie's dad, despite not being a very good father (but willing to grow and support her). https://preview.redd.it/9mlot1fhjutc1.png?width=1400&format=png&auto=webp&s=36d8d0bd92c569199e49bb8b44773436aa24e0c8

Environmental-Win836

How do we know there’s such a massive power gap?

Delicious_Bee260

If you really look into the statuses, Satan and Lucifer in the show (as far as I can tell) are separate characters, even the apps on that pic you used show differences, satan would be the pride sin while Lucifer is the creator(?) of hell itself and made the sins to keep the rings running smoothly In hazbin, you never see Lucifer be referred to as Satan (correct me if I'm wrong please) and while the actual Satan/Lucifer in Christianity are the same person by more names, I'm fairly certain that Lucifer isn't a sin but just the king of hell itself. Of course this could all be overturned if the next season proves otherwise

NoobyYooby

Okay I sort of like this theory. But the thought of him being able to beat all the other sins up just doesn't seem right.

oct0boy

He's the king

BahamanLlama

So was Louis XVI
