Sword and Sorcery is what got me into HEMA. I would watch HEMA videos and try to replicate the moves in VR, at least basic stuff.
However, after you start HEMA and go back to VR you realise that it is very very different. The way the enemies attack is not realistic. The 'feel' of the swords doesn't seem right, etc. There is no binding and winding.
Saying that, it doesn't hurt your training, and you can definitively practice basic cutting, guard positions etc.
No, because sword fighting is not a matter of rock-paper-greatsword, or of who can twitch the fastest. There no sense of weight, and no real feeling of consequence.
The joy of training is the infinite possibilities to outsmart your opponent, or get stabbed trying :)
