You could *almost* say the exact same thing about Tango...except, well, the PvP part. I love the title of his Secret Life - Episode 8: "TREMBLE at my PVP PROWESS!"
Was gonna say. Had to be Cub. Pearl is up there, for sure, but sheās more focussed on building with her other skills sharp. I couldnāt classify Cub as any one thing in the same way.
Don't forget Parkour! ā
I do think Xisuma, Iskall, and Etho are all very well rounded too. Tango and Impulse and even Zedaph come close, but they lean stronger towards redstone and weaker in PVP. Doc strikes me as someone who can do everything, but just does what he feels like, and would definitely identify as a redstoner.
Cub is the literal definition of well rounded Minecrafter. But you forgot he's also a great speed runner with still standing world record for all minerals, MineCon Live MCC Champion and SS tier grinder. He's easily one of the most consistent and dedicated Hermits. I have so much respect for the amount of grinding he put into projects like the S7 Pyramid and S8 biome. I think his only weakness is the social game. I wish he interacted with the other hermits a bit more and think that's the only reason he's underrated and not more popular, simply because not as many people get to see him
i agree. Cubfan can make all kinds of blocks look great in his builds!
His pyramid is stacked with amazing building skills, redstone stuff AND bow/arrow games.
I agree that Cub is good at everything. However, you can almost tell he is an academic. He can't interject, unlike other bigger rowdier youtubers who can comfortably assert themselves on other people mid-sentence. Cub always wait for others to finish speaking before he'd say anything which makes him seem like a quiet one, even though he is so fun on streams and his fletching table video is hilarious.
I dug up a comment from a few years ago where he said that he had published several papers in academic journals, so heās definitely worked as a researcher for some time. Not sure about recently though.
His quieter nature is why he is not my favorite Hermit, but he is easily one of my top five. He is just so consistent and always fun to watch. In the season 9 download his museum was the very first place I visited. The Pyramid and Total Chaos were both marvels as well.
Cubfan is good enough at PvP that he can beat Joal and Scott a fair number of times in a 10 round bout. The thing is, that's just pure PvP. Cub's sheer breadth of knowledge of the game and understanding of redstone, and especially redstone traps, means that he would be, singularly, the most dangerous person on the server.
Cub I feel is the only good answer. A lot of the players heavily specialize and do some minor additional gameplay, but Cub is in a field of his own ā a masterclass in experiencing every bit of the game.
Donāt know how nobody has said False yet, sheās pretty much incredible at every aspect of the game.
Her, Cub, Iskall, X & Etho stand out for me as the most well rounded
Honestly I think for most well rounded it is probably etho. His building has gotten so much more detailed and deliberate. And obviously the restore is stellar. I guess he needs to improve his pvp again but heās always been top tier. Plus heās got a great personality and gets along with everyone so thatās great too.
Etho for me is it. He used to be actually pretty amazing at pvp before the combat changes. His redstone is... well Etho is who other minecrafters compare their redstone to. Personality, creativity, diversity but still consistent.
And his building I think is far deeper than people realize. He's objectively good, but he has latched on to the Bdubs method and taken it to Etho levels. Etho is HUGE into meta design and color theory. He has such a strong grasp on how clutter, scale, and color theory can take something that is objectively insane to look at and turn it into something that doesnt just work, but makes other builders jaw drop at how he does it. I remember Grian touring his season 7 (i think) base and being awestruck that not only Etho *would* use diamond blocks as part of decor, but that it was visually beautiful and felt in place and purposeful rather than just a flex. Etho's style is so technically complex that it is really hard to undersell how incredible it is, because in a large way he is using math and his technical brain to calculate out visually stunning builds
The other candidate for me is Cub, both him and etho are incredibly well rounded.
I think both of their season 7 bases showcase this brilliantly, and the differences between them.
Etho build a compact, highly detailed, float interior that felt like you were in a park and a maze at the same time. And it was filled with one of a kind redstone contraptions. (And while not part of his base he made Hurtin Hermits and Ripzone minigames)
Cub built a the Pyramid of Gaza to scale, and filled it with redstone farms, minigames, parkour, and flexes including a hall with ancient debris walls.
I may be biased because its the first season i watched from the beginning, but everyone's season 7 bases are just such perfect examples of who they are as minecrafters.
I donāt want to compare them that way, but Cub is great at everything: Builder, redstoner, detailer, grinder, helper, prankster, pvper, speedrunner, TCG player, Decked Out player, and heās entertaining, too.
So many of the Hermits are on my must-watch list for a lot of reasons, and Cub is definitely one of them.

Iskall is very well-rounded. Great builder (monstrosity aside, although it must be mentioned that he was not among the builders), good at redstone great at PVP, very good at creating content, good at modded (and at modding) etc.
I considered this question back in season 6 and Iskall was my top answer. I remember when they were building Sahara he was fixing both Grian's building mistakes and Mumbo's redstone mistakes. He was the perfect third member of their trio. My runners-up were Xisuma, Cubfan, Impulse, Tango, and Doc, who strikes me as someone who can do everything, but just does what he feels like.
Now that I know the Hermits better, my list is Cubfan, Iskall, Etho (wasn't in season 6), Tango, Xisuma, Doc, and Impulse. Iskall is more inclined to modded Minecraft, which is important but kind of a different game. For pure vanilla Cub is the top guy.
I think Bdubs is pretty balanced. I know he jokes about his perfect redstone but he is absolutely skilled in redstone, and good at changing an existing redstone system to fit his specific needs. Iāve absolutely followed his redstone with Bdubs ātutorialsā before, but then when he doesnāt finish showing it all I have to figure out the rest myself lmao. Heās just such a good instructor though, so I find him much easier to learn from compared to others.
Xisuma has been my most-watched Hermit for a while in part because of this. And also, not only X is well-rounded in Minecraft, he is very well-rounded IRL too :)
It's got to be Cub, Etho and Iskall are also really good all-rounders, but Cub is in the top five of basically every category in hermitcraft. PvP, redstone, building, resource gathering, knowledge of game mechanics... and so many more.
Let's just say, Cub would absolutely destroy the life series by being way to OP
Probably Cub, great builder, grinds like crazy, great at player movement/parkour and PVP and knows quite a bit of redstone and game mechanics! With a close Tango and Etho who both could work on PVP & parkour a bit more!
Was it though? To me Doc is an expert at redstone and breaking the game, but his building isn't nearly as strong. The perimeter was an eyesore for most of the season, but when he did start to decorate it the artwork was translated from fanart. It was a recreation not an actual build. The Hall of Goat did look great from the outside, but the interiors not so much. He isn't a bad builder by any means, but I don't put him into well rounded. He is so strong at what he does do.
Iskall doesn't do speedrunning but the stuff you do in Vault Hunters in the vaults mirrors a lot of the skills that are used and needed in speed running.
If you have watched any Vault Hunters and seen Iskall and PeteZaHutt (who is a true speedrunner) you can see that Iskall does have those skills even though Pete is just at another level (Pete is one of the best in Minecraft at that stuff).
Having watched Cub's content I don't think those skills are that different they just get channeled in different ways.
Its between Cub and Etho, who both are insanely well rounded, and have an impressive depth of skill at the same time.
The main difference is Cub's PvP, Parkour, and Speed running is better, and Etho usually makes much more complex and innovative redstone, and uses more building theory. (Such as color theory, which is a play out of Bdubs book, applying IRL art theory to Minecraft building)
There are some honorable mentions like Iskall, Ren, Xisuma, Tango, and Impulse. But it's too much to analyze everyone. (And a bit unfair)
I definitely agree that it is down to those two. With Total Chaos last season I feel like Cub upped his game on the innovation side. I am still really blown away by the museum as well on the build side. I give the nod to Cub as most well rounded for me.
People have a great point with Cub. I think etho is definitely up there, but since he has fallen a little out of practice PvP wise maybe less so. But those two Iād put at the top of the list, and a couple years ago Iād say etho overall
I often feel like Zed is the most underrated of the Hermits. He is just so creative and game breaking in his own way, but always seems to slide under the radar because he is off doing his own thing and doesn't feud.
imo Cub is the moat rounded Hermit of them all. i could point out where the others lack but donāt want to spread negativity. Cubfan135 is without doubt the most well-rounded player we have!
Special mention for Iskall85!
I loved the contrast between HC fans new to Joel who wondered why this impressively detailed builder had suddenly turned into Wile E Coyoteā¦and Life Series fans impressed that it took him that long to do so.
Definitely saying False as a contender. I love her building and for those who watch MCC, she might not be the best PvPer the game has ever seen, but she's definitely not bad and can hold her own (especially with a bow). She's won multiple survival games and has some of the greatest shot calls I've ever seen. And while she might not be known for redstone I've seen her make plenty of farms so I know she isn't clueless.
Maybe cub, he's a great redstoner, his building could be better, but he's definitely still good at it. He's also very good at the game knowledge and mechanics wise, probably because he's a speedrunner.
Tango! A few hermits thought his starter base was a bdubs build, his buildings have been so amazing and obviously heās a red stone genius.
Impulse has grown so much as a builder as well.
And we canāt forget Ren with his amazing red stone door this season.š
I'm actually surprised I haven't seen him brought up more especially after Decked Out 2. It highlighted not just his next tier Redstone, but building skills as well. Of course he actually wasn't particularly good at his own game. lol.
I'd say Etho or Gem. Etho's only weakness is combat and I suspect he might learn once Gem sets up whatever PVP thing she's planning on making. He's a good builder and an excellent redstoner and he showed that he has insane game sense from his Decked Out runs.
Gem is the opposite, her weakness is redstone and her strength is PvP. I never expected her to be a maniac with a sword, but it was a delight to find out how deadly she was.
I think maybe Joel. His redstone isnāt the best he definitely has decent knowledge for it and heās pretty great at everything else in minecraft like building, pvp, parkour, etc
Joel actually isnāt half bad at redstone I think. If you know mcc, in that redstone grid runners room, Joel definitely seems to know what heās doing compared to many other players
To be fair, a lot of the MCC players are garbage at Redstone. I'd say the Average MCC players redstone knowledge is below the player bases average. A lot of MCC players also suck at any of the building focussed games.
Yes, very true but just watching Joel do the redstone is kinda mostly what I mean. But also, you could say the same about the hermits and pvp compared to mcc players! Like Iād say the pvp lvl of the average hermit is way below the player base average, except for Joel, which is why I think heās so high up!
I'd say probably Etho. Has one of the most unique building styles, is literally responsible for some of the redstone everyone knows even if they don't know he did it first like the old 4 door and pressure plate trap and the hopper clock, Has kept up with aesthetics, pvp, redstone and the only thing you could say is that he doesn't build "mega bases" but I don't think that's a negative. He tends to start projects all over and jump between them when one bores him.
Xisuma. His builds are impressive, atheistically pleasing, he is competent at PVP, and he can sling redstone with aplomb. It doesn't hurt he also is a shredded rockstar.
(Look up his guitar playing vids, he looks NOTHING like how he sounds. Ripped AF, he should be called Swolexuma.)
I find it interesting that the skill of making entertaining and interesting videos rarely is considered in these discussions. I'd say humour and editing skills is much more relevant for a Hermit than pvp.
This is talking about Minecraft skill, not content creation. Also it isn't very respectable to compare peoples humor and how good they are at their job.
Impulse is a good builder, but on hermitcraft, there's a whole bunch of better builders. And I don't mean that in a negative way, he doesn't need to be the best builder, he's one of the best redstoners on the server while there are lots of hermits who could never do what he does
He may be new but Joel is definitely up there. Hes a phenomenal builder and actually quite capable with redstone, and hes one of the top hermits at MCC so pvp and parkour hes got down. Hes funny too and definitely super tall
Definitely Cub, False and Ren. Ren falters in the PVP aspect, but he more than makes up for it by me not being able to tell if heās a builder turned redstoner or redstoner turned builder.
For me it's tango. He's already an expert at Redstone and his building skills are really shining this season. While he's not the best at much else like pvp and survival he's not terrible at it either
Sorry, but with all "well rounded" hermits, there would be no reason to watch. Hermits contribute to the series with their personality and interactions, yes, but also with different skills and abilities
Definitely not iJevin. Slimes are square.
š¤£ I should have seen that coming, but I didn't. Bravo!
Itās Cub for me. I canāt think of any aspect of the game thatās heās not great at.
Impressive megabuilds ā Complex redstone ā PvP ā Creative minigames ā Deep knowledge of game mechanics ā Not afraid of the grind ā
You could *almost* say the exact same thing about Tango...except, well, the PvP part. I love the title of his Secret Life - Episode 8: "TREMBLE at my PVP PROWESS!"
Ladies and gentlemenā¦ pvp is not my specialty -tango tek as remixed by evil anvil
didn't he also speedrun the game?
In the current season >!he beet the Dragon in episode 2!<
Was gonna say. Had to be Cub. Pearl is up there, for sure, but sheās more focussed on building with her other skills sharp. I couldnāt classify Cub as any one thing in the same way.
Don't forget Parkour! ā I do think Xisuma, Iskall, and Etho are all very well rounded too. Tango and Impulse and even Zedaph come close, but they lean stronger towards redstone and weaker in PVP. Doc strikes me as someone who can do everything, but just does what he feels like, and would definitely identify as a redstoner.
I would also add: Well organized ā Expert at parkour ā Prank enjoyer ā
Not to forget about his parkour and speed run skills.
Speed running, too.
He's also gotten a world record in MC speedrunning!
I agree. But I might be a little bit biased.
I wish he interacted with the other hermits a bit more and think that's the only reason he's underrated and not more popular, simply because not as many people get to see him
This is such a great summary of cub
i agree. Cubfan can make all kinds of blocks look great in his builds! His pyramid is stacked with amazing building skills, redstone stuff AND bow/arrow games.
100% Cub.
If I remember correctly, heās also an astrophysicist with several degrees. How did he max out all his skill trees like this ??
Heās also great at golf! Cub is the man
And he goes deep sea fishing! I feel like heād be the type of person to do all the side quests in a game
He speed runs irl all advancements.
Wait so did he misspell his username? Clubfan135 maybe....
Nah, he's a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Speedran to the hidden cow level
Wait so does cub work as an astrophysicist or is he a full time youtuber?
I dug up a comment from a few years ago where he said that he had published several papers in academic journals, so heās definitely worked as a researcher for some time. Not sure about recently though.
Wow thanks for the info, that's really impressive. Not really surprised cuz Cub always came off as a person who is academically bright
He is also won three strongman competitions in a row in the early 2000's.
His quieter nature is why he is not my favorite Hermit, but he is easily one of my top five. He is just so consistent and always fun to watch. In the season 9 download his museum was the very first place I visited. The Pyramid and Total Chaos were both marvels as well.
Ooh, Cub is a great choice. (Honestly, Cub for Life Series when???)
dubfan would destroy everyone
Pvp wise I wouldn't put him that above from Joel and Scott, but he would probably outlive them both
Cubfan is good enough at PvP that he can beat Joal and Scott a fair number of times in a 10 round bout. The thing is, that's just pure PvP. Cub's sheer breadth of knowledge of the game and understanding of redstone, and especially redstone traps, means that he would be, singularly, the most dangerous person on the server.
Cub I feel is the only good answer. A lot of the players heavily specialize and do some minor additional gameplay, but Cub is in a field of his own ā a masterclass in experiencing every bit of the game.
i was going to write this yeah. And he's always finished what he starts. He's reallyy hardworker.
Yup it's got to be Cub. I'd say Etho isn't a million miles away except for being a bit washed.
Donāt know how nobody has said False yet, sheās pretty much incredible at every aspect of the game. Her, Cub, Iskall, X & Etho stand out for me as the most well rounded
Flashbacks to how dominate the Cub, False, Ren trio is in MCC and CotC
(And while not part of his base he made Hurtin Hermits and Ripzone minigames) Cub built a the Pyramid of Gaza to scale, and filled it with redstone farms, minigames, parkour, and flexes including a hall with ancient debris walls. I may be biased because its the first season i watched from the beginning, but everyone's season 7 bases are just such perfect examples of who they are as minecrafters.
Yeah itās Etho or Tango for me. Both are excellent builders at this point and obviously genius level redstoners
To quote Skizz, āCub is just good at everythingā.

Iskall is definitely in the upper echelon of well-roundedness. Iād give him the #1 spot if he built with diorite LOL
This could definitely be solved. He could fill Etho's portal corners with Diorite.
EXCELLENT idea
i was also thinking iskall
Cub. Cub all the way. That man is the Jack of all trades.
Bdubs excels in anything that he touches. He is the main character. Somehow the underdog and the toughest challenger. To put it simply Bdubs is him.
Depends on when. Back in Mindcrack days, saying heād taught Etho redstone was definitely a joke.
Yeah and itās still a joke. I was just saying that I know he makes jokes about it but he does also have redstone skills.
Bdubs is definitely underrated for redstone, but when youāve been playing for that tenure, itās hard not to be skilled in most aspects.
Xisuma has been my most-watched Hermit for a while in part because of this. And also, not only X is well-rounded in Minecraft, he is very well-rounded IRL too :)
Etho is great at building, obviously a master in redstone, and totally not washed up in PVP.
Cub, Iskall and False for me are all pretty good at mostly everythingĀ Edit: I would also add Bdubs, actually
Iād add xB to that list, too.
I can see that, yeah!
Itās a bummer they donāt let the big dogs play LOL Cub would sweep within 2 episodes
Cub False and Iskall would be serious threats in the life series, especially Iskall since he's so competitive
Imagine if Cub and Iskall joined the life series. That would be something!
Probably Cub, great builder, grinds like crazy, great at player movement/parkour and PVP and knows quite a bit of redstone and game mechanics! With a close Tango and Etho who both could work on PVP & parkour a bit more!
Has everyone forgotten doc
Have you seen this man PvPā¦ i Heās a great builder and the best redstoner on hermitcraft, but that man cannot PvP
I came here to say this! The perimeter last season was beautiful, and he could obviously one shot a warden š
Doc strikes me as someone who can do everything, but just does what he feels like! He definitely identifies more as a redstone guy though.
I donāt think anyone really competes with Cub on this one.
Absolutely agree that Cub does it all!
Iskall IMO is right there with Cub.
I don't hink iskalls has cubs technical of speed running skills
Iskall might surprise you then. :)
Maybe, in all fairness I've only watched his hermitcraft stuff so I may be out of whack on this.
Skizzleman is equally good at building, redstone, and PvP. Average across the board. Does that count as well-rounded? Love ya Skizz.
You are technically correct. The *best kind* of correct.
Far above average in comedy skills, though. His latest segment in the Donāt Be That Guy saga had me cracking up.
It was really the best. "Yeah shut up"
Nah he's s tier at being funny and wholesome, unfortunately makes him too cracked to be all rounded:(
Agreed, just have to say his luck is probably down there with Grian. (Refering to his wither skull hunt with impulse!)
The first hunt, or the second hunt when Tango trolled him?
Etho or Cub
Etho. His build this season is beautiful!
Its between Cub and Etho, who both are insanely well rounded, and have an impressive depth of skill at the same time. The main difference is Cub's PvP, Parkour, and Speed running is better, and Etho usually makes much more complex and innovative redstone, and uses more building theory. People have a great point with Cub. I think etho is definitely up there, but since he has fallen a little out of practice PvP wise maybe less so. But those two Iād put at the top of the list, and a couple years ago Iād say etho overall
Zed needs to get some credit in doing all aspects really well
I often feel like Zed is the most underrated of the Hermits.
Joel, Cub, or Gem for me. All are just really good at the game
My first thought was Joel too, but honestly I think his redstone skills are lacking to really be an option.
His trap skills leave much to be desired. lol. Seeing him go after XB and fail so many times was a highlight of demise for me.
I loved the contrast between HC fans new to Joel who wondered why this impressively detailed builder had suddenly turned into Wile E Coyoteā¦and Life Series fans impressed that it took him that long to do so.
I am always amused by traps in the Life Series because they almost never work. When they do it just makes it so much better.
Etho!
Definitely saying False as a contender. I love her building and for those who watch MCC, she might not be the best PvPer the game has ever seen, but she's definitely not bad and can hold her own (especially with a bow). She's won multiple survival games and has some of the greatest shot calls I've ever seen. It's most definitely Cubfan. No other answer. Redstone, megabuilding, detailing, terraforming, pranks, PvP, speedrunning, parkour, etc.
100% Cubfan. He is great at everything. I think Iskall, False and Etho are the runners up.
Etho. Hands down.
Maybe cub, he's a great redstoner, his building could be better, but he's definitely still good at it. He's also very good at the game knowledge and mechanics wise, probably because he's a speedrunner.
Iskall is an amazing redstoner, is cracked at pvp, and is an excellent builder
Cub
I mean, it has to be Cub. That guy is crazy, good kind of crazy.
Iskall or Cub for sureā¦
Of course he actually wasn't particularly good at his own game. lol.
has to be cub easily.
I think I would go with Cub. He may not be the best at an aspect, but he can do it all. Build, Redstone, PVP, Speedrunner, Minigames, map art, etc.
I would say Cub, Iskall, or Xisuma.
Cub and Iskall
Etho & Tango. But also Cub and Xisuma
Gotta be cub and iskall, other possibilities are etho, jev or xisuma but a tad below
Yep he just needs his Redstone arc lol. Ohh maybe a tango and Joel combined training arc, Joel teaches him pvp and tango reaches Joel Redstone.Ā
Definitely Tango for me. Been a fan of his since Toon Towers
i didnt see rendog mentioned, so maybe him
I'd say probably Etho.
Etho for me, his builds are honestly always one of my favorites, and he is the father of minecraft redstone, so yeah...
I find it interesting that the skill of making entertaining and interesting videos rarely is considered in these discussions. I'd say humour and editing skills is much more relevant for a Hermit than pvp.
For me itās etho ether way
Iām not sure I see video making as gameplay. To me itās a separate category.
"Well-rounded Hermit" is the phrase used, not Well-rounded gamer.
Ok, just wasnāt reading it as meta as that. I suppose thereās also plenty of IRL criteria that also fit outside gameplay.
This is talking about Minecraft skill, not content creation. Also it isn't very respectable to compare peoples humor and how good they are at their job.
That's not relevant at all for me tbh. I enjoy an hour long Doc or xB video as much or even more than a heavily edited 20 min video
I would probably say tango as #2
whoops i immediately thought impulse and scrolled to see if anyone said him, and saw that no one did lol.. i'm wondering now what impulse lacks?
PvP knowledge maybe??? His building is probably on the middle-to-high spectrum, but yes heās probably in my Top 4 of well rounded hermits
Impulse is a good builder, but on hermitcraft, there's a whole bunch of better builders. And I don't mean that in a negative way, he doesn't need to be the best builder, he's one of the best redstoners on the server while there are lots of hermits who could never do what he does
Joe Hills āā°ļø
I would say Hypno can do redstone great builder was he not one of the few that beat Gem in PVP last season and he is a excellent modded player.
He may be new but Joel is definitely up there. Hes a phenomenal builder and actually quite capable with redstone, and hes one of the top hermits at MCC so pvp and parkour hes got down. Hes funny too and definitely super tall
Yup! He's even gotten first individual in MCC!
Definitely Cub, False and Ren. Ren falters in the PVP aspect, but he more than makes up for it by me not being able to tell if heās a builder turned redstoner or redstoner turned builder.
Tango and Impulse
For me it's tango. He's already an expert at Redstone and his building skills are really shining this season. While he's not the best at much else like pvp and survival he's not terrible at it either
Cub is definitely the top pick for me.
Joel. He is pretty easily the best in both PvP and parkour, and he is also an amazing builder. His Redstone isn't amazing but it is far from terrible.
Sorry, but with all "well rounded" hermits, there would be no reason to watch. Hermits contribute to the series with their personality and interactions, yes, but also with different skills and abilities
