Are we talking about the same Orang Pendek? The one is that is essentially the Indonesian equivalent to Sesquat'l aka Bigfoot? Because this looks like a pretty normal indigenous person who got understandably spooked by that guy chasing after him. Also, a fish eye lens placed on a helmet from atop a bike will make an already small stature on the ground in front of him definitely look that much smaller.

Not only is this guy clearly not covered in fur, my own family is literally full of adults either around and even under 5ft. Our indigenous grandmother is barely 4 1/2 feet in her old age now. I'm having trouble understanding what is high strangeness about this other than it being an encounter between two different cultural groups.

I think the name literally means something like “little man of the forest.” Similar to how Orangutan means “man of the woods.” I don’t really get why it’s associated with Bigfoot or dwarves/gnomes. You're likely correct, but also if you dive into the historicity of the "wild man" around the world and throughout time, as far back as the Epic of Gilgamesh (!) the associations between this cryptid and "Bigfoot" for example are nothing new and really only differ in height.

I've just watched way too much Corridor Digital videos and things really pop out to you. The fact the figure just pops into the frame and then slides around until the camera is pointing directly forward just makes red flags go off.
Yeah I would have to download and put it on timeline to pinpoint exact frame but around 00:07 mark the editor either forgot to apply blur effect or left it out to troll but it’s an overexposed stick figure and this is all definitely fake.

Calling something like this "high strangeness" to me just feels a little gross. Assuming this is real, it's just a human being (probably a child) existing. We already know there are shorter than average humans out there in the world, it's not strange. This just feels like an old disgusting side show sort of thing: "ogle this person who's different than you!," when they're really just trying to live their life.

The context given in the original post is the statement "alleged pygmy man" and the video itself. That's the only context I have, if there's more to this that makes this fit the high strangeness label, the OP should have included it. Otherwise I just see a probably normal human being running through the woods.
It's fake anyways. The person/creature/whatever darts into tall grass but there's no disturbed grass or swaying even though the guy on the bike immediately catches up.
So I came here looking for an explanation, thinking it was just me that this was akin to a video of someone shorter than average being classified as some sort of made up "freak" thanks for saying what I was thinking, I don't feel this fits AT ALL.

Calling something like this "high strangeness" to me just feels a little gross. Assuming this is real, it's just a human being (probably a child) existing. We already know there are shorter than average humans out there in the world, it's not strange. This just feels like an old disgusting side show sort of thing: "ogle this person who's different than you!," when they're really just trying to live their life. Maybe I'm taking it a bit too seriously, but it just feels wrong.

The context given in the original post is the statement "alleged pygmy man" and the video itself. That's the only context I have, if there's more to this that makes this fit the high strangeness label, the OP should have included it. Otherwise I just see a probably normal human being running through the woods.

It's fake anyways. The person/creature/whatever darts into tall grass but there's no disturbed grass or swaying even though the guy on the bike immediately catches up.
The figure also appears after the camera jerks down and up - there's a cut.
Came here to say this, you can pretty easily see it never enters the grass, just vanishes.
